Do The....Potty Dance!

Peyton and I hosted a Huggies Pull-Up Potty Dance Party this past Saturday. Peyton is a year and a half so it's time to start thinking about going to the potty! My baby is growing up too fast but she needs to get started. I figured what better way then to have a Potty Dance Party! The party was with House Party and sponsored by Pull-Ups and Target.

For the party, Peyton wore a Gap butterfly top, with Joe's jeans, and red mary janes from Target.

As you can see, everyone had a good time! Each kid was given a potty training kit that included, a "Big Kid in Training" bathroom door hanger, stickers, DVD, progress chart, guitar and a ton of coupons!

Here is what us moms learned from Pull-Ups and each other:

Look for signs your child is ready. Like staying dry for long periods of time, wants diapers changed asap, shows interest in using the potty.
Once you switch over to Pull Ups you need to stick with it. Going back to diapers confuses the child.
Use potty training books and songs to keep the momentum going.
Dress you child in easy clothing
Use rewards when they potty

Pull-Ups has a variety different options to help you child to be successful. They have Pull Ups that change design when wet. Pull Ups with cool alert and your child can feel when they are wet. They also offer Pull Up night times so you don't have to stop training at night.

I was originally going to post the video of the kids dancing but my camera was keeping me from being great. So I leave you with the Potty Dance video that we watch over 50 times on Saturday.

Monday Mingle in Shorts

Last Thursday I was invited back to Neiman Marcus for their Trend Event party. I wore a Gap bow blouse, leather ~~pleather~~ shorts by Lauren Conrad for Kohl's and Old Navy jean blazer. I am carrying my navy Gucci Jackie bag. Booties from Sole Society. I wish I had these shorts in the fall but better late then never! I paid $12 for them at an awesome sale at Kohl's.

I love these Tory Burch looks. That is one mixing pattern look I would love to rock!

After I left Neimans I headed to meet children clothing designer Wendy of My Bougie Baby. Wendy is based in DC and specializes in trendy tasteful fashions for girls sizes 4 - 14.

Weekend Style: Lady in Red

Hope you all had a great weekend. I had a busy one! On Saturday Peyton and I hosted a Potty Dance Party at our home. The party was off the hook! Post coming soon. After our long day we managed to make it to church on Sunday.

My baby is working it out in a red sweater dress, $12 and leopard Mary Jane's $5 both from Target. Tights and hair bow are from Walmart.

This baby can WERK!

Leopard shoes are the new neutral shoe, Classic! Do you rock leopard shoes?

DVF Coming to Gap Kids!

I am sure you heard by now that Diane von Furstenberg is collaborating with Gap Kids. Gap is one of my favorite places to shop for Peyton. I did a triple back flip with a double tuck when I heard that DVF is coming! The line launches March 15!!!

That blazer and the middle dress, Peyton must have! Just like every woman needs a wrap dress, so do little girls! Gap will carry baby girl items and little girls sizes 2 to 14. Don't think that I won't try on a girls 14!

Blue Ivy Carter Pictures Released

I may be a day late but the photo's of Beyonce and Jay Z baby Blue Ivy Carter have been released. She is a doll just like we knew she would be!

She is a doll baby! She looks like Beyonce but you can tell that is Jay's baby! Congrats again to them both.

Oh, did you see the new mother just one month after giving birth!

Gotta Love Old Navy Clearance!

I was going thru my wallet on Tuesday and saw I had an Old Navy coupon for $10 off a $20 purchase that was about to expire. Letting the coupon expire is like throwing away FREE money! So I headed to Old Navy at lunch! I'm so glad I did!

I got all these graphic t-shirts for $0.97 each! Most of them fit her right now but for $1, that's ok.

This cute dress or tunic... was on sale for $6!

I got these faux suede slouch boots for $9. I know spring is coming soon but she can rock these until May. I got out the store only spending about $12 after using the coupon!

Old Navy just started their kids and baby sale with items up to 30% off! I will be going back to get these $12 colored skinny jeans for Peyton!

Fro Fashion Week: Mama on the Runway

This is kind of a long story. My sister Constance from Indianapolis who is a natural hair stylist came to Atlanta for Fro Fashion Week. I had some blogger friends that were going so I told her I would hang out with her. I normally rock the Long Hair Don't Care (extensions) but my hair is natural (no relaxer) underneath. To get in the spirit of Fro Fashion Week ~~plus it was over due~~, I took my hair down. And here I am looking like Peyton Senior!

The frizz was out of control!

So on Saturday late afternoon as I was about to head home to rest before the penthouse party for Fro Fashion Week I was AMBUSHED! Yes, a hair stylist rolled up on me with camera's in tow! Asking if I was down to be made over. I thought I looked pretty decent!??? I guess I did need a hair make over by the end of the day! So I ~~reluctantly~~ agreed to be the AMBUSHED makeover and to walk in the Fro Fashion Show the next day!

Next thing I know, I am sitting in a hotel room with a towel on my head! So Celeb Hair Stylist Key hooked me up! Key hooked up my hair Saturday using the new natural hair products, Curls Unleashed by Organic Root Stimulator.

Here I am back stage getting my makeup and hair done.

The finished product! I am wearing that Rachel Roy dress that I told yall about.

I think I walked looking down the whole time! I was so nervous! Yall know I am not shy but I really don't like cameras or all eyes on me! Something told me not to eat any carbs last week!

TI's Akoo Fashion Show

Last Thursday I attended the Akoo clothing line by T.I. fashion show. This show was a star studded event! It looked like any celeb that was available in Atlanta was there! The hilarious Kevin Hart was the host of the event.

So I get there to find out they are taping for TI's VH1 show TI and Tiny Family Hustle so every one had to sign a release.. Umm OK... Then I get in the door and they tell me I can't have my camera. Really! So I had to march back to my car. So I only had my dying cell phone to take pictures with. See the photos below.

I thought the line was great for men and young girls. It was a little more urban then I care for but I am an old lady! So I don't have any pictures of my outfit since my phone died.

Vh1 was there tapping and I don't understand how people can do reality shows! There was a camera man, a guy with a light and another guy with a boom mic walking in front of Tiny (TI's wife). I can't imagine having to walk to the bathroom and the camera man running in front of me.

Weekend Style

Mama had a super crazy weekend! Sorry this post is so late but I will hip you to everything this week! Basically Mama attended two fashion shows and one of which I walked in! It was not planned! Make sure you tune in all week to get all the details! Because of all the craziness I didn't get to spend much time with my cupcake but I did take her out to breakfast on Sunday morning.

Peyton is wearing a Sesame Street t-shirt from Target. Skinny jeans from Old Navy which are actually flooding but I threw on her Ugg boots so you couldn't really tell too much : ). Her cardigan is from Gap. Great way to wear t-shirts while it is still cool.

I have created a monster! Lil Mama got her hand on her hip!

I am going to work hard to get you guys all the details of my crazy weekend shortly! How was your weekend?

NYX Eye Shadow Base Review

I know a lot of make-up artist or folks that just love make-up use some sort of primer. I have a few times but not never kept at it. Then I heard about ladies using the MAC paint pots, $17 as a base. So before I invested $17 I thought I would try to find an alternative. I found NYX eyeshadow base at the beauty supply store for $7.

I purchased the NYX Eyeshadow base in the color Skin tone. It also comes in White and White Pearl .

Here is what the base looks like after you put it on. I think I put on too much. I guess I was thinking I was putting on concealer for my eyelids and went H.A.M! Also, please excuse my tired, muggy eyes! This is in the morning after not much sleep!

Here are the colors that I used on my eyes: Rock and Republic in Paranoid , Elf pallet in Butternut, and Elf Minerals in Girly.

Here is the final result. I wish I would have blended the eyeshadow base more close to my nose. I never said I was a makeup artist! The base did make the colors pop.

Here I am about 10 hours later. I didn't have any flash on this picture but you can still tell I have on eyeshadow. I think it held up pretty good! Usually at 5:30 I look like I never have put on any make-up for the day. So I give this eyeshadow base an A! I will def continue to use this. Having this product make me want to experiment with more colors that I thought didn't show up well on my eyes. Do you use a base or primer?

Saturday Peyton and I hit up H&M. We stepped in to the store to find out they were having a Buy One Get One FREE sale on clearance items!!! I started looking through the women's but there was too much competition on the racks and I had a stroller. So I just headed down to the children's section. Check out my great buys!

My Girl! Kate (Spade)

It's still January??? Dang! Well I am going to keep talking about Spring anyway! I have been a big fan of Kate Spade since college. A classic black Kate Spade handbag was my first major purchase after getting a job after graduating college. I like to think that Kate and I share the same style (just insert big earrings and funky shoes). Kate Spade confirmed we do with this early spring collection!
