My baby girl told me she wanted a “Text” emoji party for her 6th birthday. Being the Supermom that I am, I made it happen and it came out super cute. I did way more DIY’s than I planned and had time for but Mr stepped up and help out with some. We rented out a trampoline park for her party. Here are the details.

I ordered Harper’s emoji tee shirt from Etsy. Excuse all the foam in her hair from the foam pit *eye-rolls.

Pinterest took over me and I made these large emoji boxes. I purchased some moving boxes at Walmart and wrapped them in yellow paper I ordered from Amazon.

I found these emoji cupcake toppers from Amazon. It also had wrappers but I didn’t have enough time to put them on the cupcakes.

My neighborhood Publix always comes through with the cakes. It only cost me about $20!

Cookies were made locally in Atlanta by Deb Yummy Delicious Cookies.

I made some custom chip bags but once I started, I regretted it immediately. I only did 12. Let me warn you now, they take forever and can be pricey because you have to buy brochure paper and lots of double-sided tape. If you do this, I suggest getting the smallest chip or crackers you can find to wrap because I had regular size chips bags and it was a tight fit which made it more time consuming. I ordered a template from Etsy but you can search your party theme on Etsy and find a pre-made or pay to have one done that you can print.

These gift bags were another DIY. I ordered the yellow gift bags from Amazon. I purchased the emoji faces on Etsy and printed them out. After printing, you have to cute them out and tape or glue them on the bags. Took forever as well!

This may be one of my favorite party themes yet. This party was a lot of work but to see how much these kids enjoyed themselves made it all worth it. Basically with Etsy, Amazon, YouTube and a little elbow grease, you can pull this off too!

Also, how is my baby 6 already?! I just had her SMH!

We recently came back from our first beach vacation since the pandemic started. We’ve visited family but not a vacation or beach. Peyton kept telling me she wanted to go to the beach for her birthday (July 7th) but I couldn’t find anywhere that was available and/or decent price. I pretty much gave up and was going to let her have friends over at the house. Then a friend of mine posted that she recently purchased a vacation property in Gulf Shores, AL, I started asking questions. She said she was renovating it but it would be ready next week… the week of Peyton’s birthday! I asked her if she willing to let me rent it first. She said yes! Seven days later, we drove 6 hours to Gulf Shores! Here are the details from our trip.

That’s one thing about Atlanta, we may be in the middle of the state but we’re only 4-6 hours away from some beautiful beaches. I’ve only been to the Gulf beaches once to Panama City, Florida but this was my first time to Gulf Shores, AL. Gulf beaches are beautiful!

Where we stayed: We stayed at My Beach Retreat by Nick. What I learned about Gulf beaches is hotels are very limited. Unless you’re cool with a sketchy college spring break type of accommodations, you basically need to Air B&B or know someone with a condo. What We Did: Gulf Shores is a family friendly beach. If you want to get away from kids you may have a hard time here.

• The Track. It’s a mini amusement park with rides for small kids, go carts and more. They also have an indoor arcade, perfect it it’s a rainy day.

• Beachside picnic with Souther Charm Picnic Company. Instead of going out for dinner, I booked a picnic with Souther Charm Picnic Company. It was so beautiful and Peyton loved it! You can see the photos above.
• Family photo shoot with Lily’s Rose Photography. If you’ve come all the way to Gulf Shores, then you MUST get family beach photos. I seriously want to get large scale prints of these to hang all over the house.
• Chill at the beach. Isn’t that why we’re here!? The sand is soft and clean unlike the Atlantic coast beaches. Instead of hauling chairs to the beach, we were able to rent lounge chairs with an umbrella for the day.

Where to Eat: Let me just say, I came with a belly full of shrimp! While I ate all the fried shrimp I could find, Mister was on an oyster mission!

• Sassy Bass located in the building of our condo. Drinks are amazing!
• Food Truck park at The Village Lawn. This was so cute and they had live music and a bounce house for the kids.
• The Hangout. The food was like upscale fast food but the experience was great. They have an MC and the waiters (mainly college kids) would do line dances and they encouraged guests to join in. The highlight was they have foam parties every hour. The girls loved that.
• The Original Oyster House. Everything we had there was good. I don’t eat oysters like that but Mister killed them!
• Kiva Dunes Beach Club. We went here for breakfast. It was really good and next to our condo. I think they have a buffet but I don’t really do buffets especially with Covid.
• Rouses Market. This is a cute grocery store that has a lot of prepared foods that you can heat up at the condo. We also picked up Peyton’s birthday cake there.

We had a great time and great memories. I think this will be our yearly family trip. If you have any questions leave them in the comments. I’m a little rusty at blogging so I may have missed some things.

Especially for our children.  By filling out the 2020 Census, we can help with our children’s future for the next 10 years.  I’ve teamed up with GEEARS: Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students  to share some facts about the US Census and remind you to get counted.  It’s easy and fast to get counted! 

The girls and I sat down with our GEEARS Census 2020 activity books to learn more about the Census. Young children are increasingly undercounted in the Census more than any other age group.  Georgia has the 5th largest undercount of young kids in the country in 2010! 

Filling out the 2020 Census can help support our children’s future! Young children who are missed may be part of large, extended families or live in a home with multiple families. Not counting them can impact them for the next 10 years. 

During this pandemic that we are currently going through, we see how important it is to have resources we can rely on like health care, child care, food assistance, disability services and workforce assistance.  Being counted is important for the funds to be distributed to these services.

Data collected by the 2020 Census will guide how over $675 BILLION of federal funding will be distributed to communities in the US each year. Funding will impact health care, child care, WIC and much more. Babies and children will be impacted over the next 10 years as a result of the 2020 Census. So make sure you fill it out HERE. 

In about 10 minutes, you can make sure you and your family are counted.  You can fill out your Census online at my2020census.gov, by phone or mail.  Do it NOW  and spread the word!  

You are required by law to respond to the 2020 Census. The Census Bureau is required by law to protect any personal information collected and keep it strictly confidential.

Now that things are slowly opening, even though I’m still staying home, I’m trying to put on real clothes. As much as I love my leggings and tees, I miss getting cute. These last few weeks have been an emotional roller coaster. From crying and praying for the families that have lost loved ones due to police and racists, to feeling cautiously hopeful. I’ve been happy to see allies joining this fight. I ask that you use your voice (privilege) to have tough conversations and speak out against injustice. We still have a long fight ahead, and we’re ready! I’ve got these two little ones to fight for!
