Michigan based Publicist and Internet Marketing Specialist Scott Lorenz has compiled a list of 52 tips on how to promote an iPhone App - tips he garnered from his extensive experience as a public relations professional in promoting all types of products, inventions, books and services. Apple has almost 150,000 iPhone applications available for sale at its App Store and this number will grow exponentially with the growing popularity of the iPhone, iPod and the new iPad.

Plymouth, MI - Publicist and Internet Marketing Specialist Scott Lorenz has compiled a list of 52 tips on how to promote an iPhone App - tips he garnered from his extensive experience as a public relations professional in promoting all types of products, inventions, books and services. Apple has almost 150,000 iPhone applications available for sale at its App Store and this number will grow exponentially with the growing popularity of the iPhone, iPod and the new iPad.

"The competition is fierce so in order to succeed you must aggressively promote your iPhone app if you want a fighting chance," says Scott Lorenz President of Westwind Communications Public Relations firm. westwindcos.com

What's the best way to promote your app? "There is no "best" way," says Lorenz. "You must employ multiple tactics to crack the success code. Simply relying on word of mouth is not enough. You need to get the attention of the news media. Just look how fast the TigerText app got traction after it was featured by CNN and Time Magazine. Shortly after those news organizations featured it other media outlets jumped on the bandwagon and promoted it as well. This has led to people talking about it at the water cooler, at Starbucks and everywhere else," said Lorenz, "that's the power of PR."

How can iPhone developers put this powerful force to work? Lorenz says that his solution as a publicist is to seek publicity to help get the word of mouth going which will then lead to those highly sought after downloads. He's compiled a list of 52 tips on how to promote an iPhone App - suggestions garnered from his extensive experience as a public relations professional and Internet Marketing Specialist in promoting all types of products, inventions, books and services. Lorenz says that after reviewing the 52 ideas, developers should ask themselves these questions:

* Is our iPhone app getting all the media coverage it deserves?
* Is our competition getting more than their fair share of media coverage?
* Would media coverage get people to download my iPhone app?
* Do I have a PR strategy for continuous year round media coverage for our iPhone app?
* Who in the company can implement any or all of these 52 items?

If the answers to these questions are not satisfactory Lorenz says developers should consider hiring Westwind Communications or other publicist who'll "pitch" the media on their iPhone app. A publicist will create a story idea involving the app that would interest the people who read, watch or listen to a particular media outlet that would cover the app.

Lorenz added "Even if you have the internal staff and expertise to commit to your public relations effort then you should still consider hiring an outside PR firm to just promote the iPhone app. The reason? There is much to do and it's a big world out there with plenty of media outlets to reach. The outside PR firm can focus on the iPhone app exclusively."

Concluded Lorenz, "The busier you get, the easier it is to forget about or "set aside" important PR activities. Don't get caught in that trap! If you want your iPhone app to be a success then hire a publicist who can get the publicity you deserve!"

BabyGotMac is sponsored by 1Password - now available for Mac, iPhone and iPod Touch!

San Francisco, CA - Wonder Warp Software, makers of Mac and iPhone productivity app ShoveBox, today announced the immediate availability of Etude 1.0, a new iPhone and iPod touch application for learning music on the piano. Etude combines traditional sheet music with an on-screen keyboard, whose keys light up to reveal which notes are being played, as well as a MIDI synthesizer that simultaneously plays the piece aloud.

"Our goal was to significantly improve the way musicians discover and learn to play sheet music," stated Dan Grover, founder of Wonder Warp Software. "The iPhone, and soon the iPad, make this possible. Unlike other music apps, Etude let's the user choose from a large catalog of songs, hear and see how the song should be played, and of course view a version of the score created just for their device."

Etude ships with 5 songs loaded, and an in-app "store" with over 200 free songs. New songs are being added weekly. Wonder Warp Software is actively working with music publishers to vastly expand the music catalog. The store currently features songs ranging from Moonlight Sonata, to nursery rhymes like The Itsy Bitsy Spider.

While learning a piece of music may be difficult at its original speed, built into Etude is a music settings panel, which controls the playback speed, auto-scrolling, and showing or hiding the keyboard on-screen. Etude directly integrates with social networking sites Facebook and Twitter, making the music available to all of your friends to listen to.

Device Requirements:
* iPhone and iPod touch
* Requires iPhone OS 3.1 or later
* 4.5 MB

Ivins, Utah - TalkingRockies, LLC, a pioneer in mobile recreation guides, and David Day, Utah's authoritative hiking writer and author of the best-selling hiking guidebook "Utah's Incredible Backcountry," have just released two mobile guides for the best backcountry hikes in Utah's national parks.

These guides introduce outdoor enthusiasts worldwide to the wonders that await them in the amazing backcountry in Utah's national parks. One guide covers the western parks, Zion, Bryce Capitol Reef, and the other covers the eastern ones, Arches and Canyonlands. These convenient mobile guides work on all models of the iPhone and iPod touch as well as most mobile devices based on the Android operating system, and all 4 versions are available for an introductory price of $3.99 in both iTunes App Store and Android Market.

Phil Karren, founder of TalkingRockies, says, "These innovative mobile guides are designed to help visitors interested in a more intimate experience with each park, providing the right amount of detail needed to help get into and enjoy the less-traveled, and most breathtaking terrain these astounding places have to offer. Building and sharing plans is also simple, as well as posting experiences on facebook."

With a few taps and swipes, users also have access to simple and attractive trail maps, detailed trail descriptions, trailhead directions, images and useful facts about the hikes, including difficulty, distance, elevations, coordinates at the trailhead and of the summit or key item of interest. Now hikers can have the information they need at all times, whether they're on the trail, or back in town thinking about their next backcountry experience. Each app provides a simple and powerful checklist feature for every hiking challenge and season.
Tokyo, Japan - HourFace from MotionPortrait, one of Tokyo's hottest iPhone dev studios, has topped the charts in Japan since it launched in January and is now updated and better than ever. Using MotionPortrait's cutting-edge avatar-builder technology, HourFace analyzes a still photo and turns it into a living, breathing 3D movie that ages right there on the iPhone screen.

Don't just take our word, or the screenshots', for it - these movies totally rock and will be the center of attention, whoever you apply the wrinkly brush to. Amaze and shock your friends - turn them into creaking old wrecks right in front of their eyes. Discover what you might look like 50 years from now - all in 3D! Just be careful not to pick on anyone too sensitive about their looks, 'K?

Just fire up HourFace, use the iPhone's camera to take a snap of a friend (or use one from your photo library) and wait for the magic to kick in while the dedicated servers get to work. Powered by MotionPortrait technology, HourFace ages your friends and family AND generates a 3D interactive movie for you to poke, prod and be amazed by. Find out what's been keeping Japanese iPhone users in stitches for weeks!

In use, HourFace is simplicity itself - turn the iPhone upside down and the tilt sensor makes the avatar younger; flip it up the right way to head straight back to wrinkly city; hit the share button to fire off a photo snapshot by email.
