Wingnuts Have A Hissy Over Washington Post Gay-Kissy Photo

\TheWashington Post last week published a front-page photo of two men kissing in the courthouse’s “gay marriage line.” and the wingnuts went batshit. Today, Washington Post ombudsman Andrew Alexander talked about the complaints that he recieved of the hot man-on-man sexy kiss time so prominently in its print newspaper, which America’s seniors read in the privacy of their own homes.
A few of the readers have engaged in rants, often with anti-gay slurs. One called me to complain about “promoting a faggot lifestyle.” Another complained about the photo in an e-mail to the two Post reporters who wrote Thursday’s story about the licenses: “That kind of stuff makes normal people want to throw up. People have kids who are being exposed to this crap. I will be glad when your rag goes out of business. Real men marry women.”
But most simply said The Post had offended their delicate sensibilities by publishing the photo, especially on the front page.

Wrote Lee Miller of Columbia: “I would appreciate it if your cover pictures would not be so disturbing where my kids can see it easily on the kitchen table… please don’t shove this “Gay” business in our face. This is something that should have shown up on an inside page or two (without the picture).” Another comment went.......“the picture of two guys kissing makes me cringe.” And another: “Put it on page 10 or page four, put it in the paper, but I do not like it right there where I can’t avoid looking at it.”

Summary:
– No fucking gay faggots should be on the front page, stupid fucking faggots. Real faggots marry women.
– “Gay business” should not be shoved down my kids’ throats.
– Show the photo on an inside page and don’t show the photo.
– Don’t put the photo on the front page, because then people can’t help but stare at it constantly. (Got a big closet I suppose)

Anyway, Andrew Alexander, get the last word on these in his final paragraph:

"There was a time, after court-ordered integration, when readers complained about front-page photos of blacks mixing with whites. Today, photo images of same-sex couples capture the same reality of societal change."

Only problem is Andrew, as sad as it sounds you over-estimate these wingnuts and the same people would probably ctill omplain about that today also.

Some people seriously need to get a life or at least crawl back into the primordial ooze and keep evolving.

Andrew Young and his wife Cheri were ordered by the court to serve up to 75 days in jail for withholding from the court secret copies of a John Edwards sex tape and unknown "other items". (Other "items"? What tell me, tell me!)

So in a nutshell, Andrew Young (Who's not that bad looking himself and is rumoured to be bisexual and had a huge crush on Edwards) worked fior and helped try and elect the North Carolina senator president; helped hide KING DONG Edwards's cheating by falsely claiming to be father of his love child; kept a sex tape hidden from the world; and now is going to jail for making a few copies of said tapes and showing them to some journalists. But unfortunately I wasn't invited.. Young didn't even "accidently" leak the tape! (Okay I admit it. I think John Edwards is kinda hot for a guy his age. And he's supposedly swings an impressive club. So I wanna see.)

UPDATE: The judge involved has backed off from jailing Andrew Young and his wife and has . given Young until Friday at 2pm to produce the tapes.

Sean Hayes has an upcoming Broadway turn opposite Kristin Chenoweth in Promises, Promises, and he's acknowledging what nobody pretended was even something worth hiding: that he's a proud, Emmy-winning gay actor. (C'mon did ANYONE ever think he was straight?") But he does so with reluctance. Hayes didn't want to declare his sexuality on the record during Will & Grace for fear of killing his career. . And the prospect of speaking about it still perturbs him, thanks in part to an Advocate article that made him hate the gay media.

And there’s the press. To this day he feels burned by a story that ran in this magazine in anticipation of the series finale of Will & Grace. Titled “Sean Hayes: The Interview He Never Gave,” the one-page “Q&A” was a clip job of quotes he’d given to other publications through the years that made him look rather silly for pretending no one knows he’s gay. Hayes’s sexuality had become an open secret in Hollywood, but he’d refused repeated offers to be interviewed by the magazine, and the then-editors of The Advocate felt entitled to the real story. Understandably, that didn’t sit well with Hayes. “Really? You’re gonna shoot the gay guy down? I never have had a problem saying who I am,” he states.

So now, W&G is long gone and buried and Hayes is going to Broardway so in a grasp to stay relevant he's "officially" come out.......TO THE ADVOCATE!
Finally, Hayes gets to his true point: “I feel like I’ve contributed monumentally to the success of the gay movement in America, and if anyone wants to argue that, I’m open to it. You’re welcome, Advocate.”

That sarcasm and anger cover up years of genuinely hurt feelings. “Why would you go down that path with somebody who’s done so much to contribute to the gay community?” he asks. “That was my beef about it. What more do you want me to do? Do you want me to stand on a float? And then what? It’s never enough.

“That’s the thing about celebrity: It sets you up to fail because the expectation is so high of what’s needed, what’s wanted from you that the second you don’t [meet it], you disappoint people.”

Okay lets argue this. Sean what exactly have you done for the gay community? You were pretty open about your sexuality after "Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss" and then tried to sneak back into the closet after W&G took off. (Although being gay never bothered you when you were hanging out at the "Revolver" in West Hollywood.) Also you made your career and became rich by playing the worst stereotype of a fluffy poof on television and sneaking back into the closet and going to an occasional AIDS Fundraiser is not a "monumental" contribution to the gay movement.

Your entire attitude Sean smacks of grred and self-loathing and now that you have no career to lose or jeopardize, you comes out, and reluctantly at that. and can't, or won't see how your actions only reinforced the sense of shame and guilt about being gay.

As for being in a float on a parade I think you have no worries about that now. personally, the only place I'd like to see you is under the float.

Jon Blair, chief executive officer of the gay rights group Equality Virginia, said Cuccinelli's "radical actions are putting Virginia at risk of losing both top students and faculty, and discouraging prospective ones from coming here." and C. Richard Cranwell, state Democratic Party chairman, said Virginia's colleges and universities were more than capable of setting policies that work for them "without meddling from Ken Cuccinelli."

Defending himself Cuccinell said his letter merely stated Virginia law, which prohibits discrimination because of "race, color, religion, national origin, sex, pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions, age, marital status, or disability," but makes no mention of sexual orientation. This despite the fact that colleges are bound by U.S. Supreme Court decisions not to discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation.

Law & Order: SVU Cuts Kathy Griffin's Lesbian Kiss (Video)

You would think a show that has had stories about the absolute worst sex crimes and the most extreme adult stories on television could handel a gay kiss, but nooooooooooooo.

Kathy's Griffin's anticipated appearance on Law & Order SVU aired on NBC last night. In it, Kathy guest starred as a lesbian activist. In a specific scene in which Griffin leans in and kisses series regular Mariska Hargitay was filmed but did not make the final cut. Instead, in the broadcast version, Griffin's character makes an attempt to kiss her, but Hargitay pulls back before their lips make contact and informs her that she's straight. What is interesting is what didn't get cut which was this comment Hargitay makes to a female character about to enter the room and find herself alone with Griffin: "If I were you, I'd stay outside."

That's the headline in Europe today following redports that One of Pope Benedict’s ceremonial ushers and a member of an elite choir in St Peter’s Basilica have been implicated in a gay prostitution ring, in the latest sexual scandal to taint the Vatican.

Ghinedu Ehiem, a Nigerian, was dismissed by the Vatican on Wednesday from the Giulia Choir after his name appeared in transcripts of police wiretaps, published by an Italian newspaper, in an unrelated Italian investigation.

Among four people arrested last month in the corruption probe was Angelo Balducci, a engineer who is a board member of Italy’s public works department and a construction consultant to the Vatican. Balducci was arrested on corruption charges and the allegatons of prostitution emerged only later.

Balducci is also a member of an elite group called “Gentlemen of His Holiness”, ushers who are called to serve in the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace on major occasions such as when the pope receives heads of state or presides at big events.

“Gentlemen of His Holiness””carried the coffin of the late Pope John Paul at his funeral in 2005.

Excerpts of the wiretaps and police documents published in the Italian newspaper La Repubblica showed that Ehiem, 40, had been in regular contact with Balducci before Balducci’s arrest last month and the subject of their conversation was gay sex.

A police document prepared for magistrates and published in part by La Repubblica said Balducci was in contact with Ehiem and an Italian who were part of what the police called “an organised network ... to abet male prostitution”.

Closeted Anti-Gay REPUBLICAN California State Sen. Roy Ashburn BUSTED For DUI Leaving Sacramento Gay Bar With Another Man

The California Highway Patrol pulled over Senator Roy (Assburn) Ashburn at 2:00 a.m. Wednesday after an officer noticed a black Chevy Tahoe swerving at 13th and L Streets. When the officer stopped the state-issued vehicle, the driver identified himself as Senator Ashburn. He was arrested without incident and charged with two misdemeanors: driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol level higher than .08% or higher. A male passenger, who was not identified as a lawmaker, was also in the car but was not detained. Ashburn was booked into the Sacramento County Jail and released on $1,400 bond.

Now this might have escaped as a regular DUI if it wasn't for the fact that Ashburn who has been a loud opponent of LGBT rights and has organized and hosted anti-gay marriage rallies for the Traditional Values Coalition and also has a 100% rating from the anti-gay Capitol Resource Family Impact group for voting against every LGBT rights bill during his tenure, was arrested for the DUI yesterday after leaving Faces, a popular Sacramento gay bar!

The closet case Ashburn, is a father of four\ and the Republican Senator representing parts of Kern, Tulare and San Bernardino Counties with a long, long history of opposing gay rights. Recently in March 2009, Sen. Ashburn voted against a Senate resolution declaring Proposition 8 unconstitutional. Ashburn voted three times to oppose the creation of Harvey Milk Day. In September he voted against California recognizing out of state same-sex marriages. In 2008 he voted to oppose an expansion of the state's insurance laws to include sexual orientation as a protected class.

Ashburn issued a statement on the arrest:

I am deeply sorry for my actions and offer no excuse for my poor judgment. I accept complete responsibility for my conduct and am prepared to accept the consequences for what I did. I am also truly sorry for the impact this incident will have on those who support and trust me – my family, my constituents, my friends, and my colleagues in the Senate."

Thankfully the arresting officer didn't pass out when ASSBURN rolled down his window. The combined aroma of poppers and Just For Men can sometimes be lethal.

McKeon, the House Armed Services Committee's top Republican, says a report Defense Secretary Robert Gates has commissioned to look at the issue of gays in the military is biased because it presumes the eventual repeal of the rule. "Many of us on this committee have serious concerns with putting our men and women in uniform through such a divisive debate while they are fighting two wars," he said, airing another shabby, flimsy and pathetic justification that old, scared men in Washington use to try to use.

He also accuses the RAND corporation, who will be conducting the study, of pro-gay bias.BEFORE the study is conducted.

While the new bill will still have to work its way through the normal legislative process, two supporting actions will be needed to ensure passage of the bill in 2010. First, President Obama can and should include explicit repeal language in one of the Defense Department’s legislative proposal packages that will be transmitted to the House and Senate Armed Services Committees over the next two months. This would be the single most critical action the President can still take to ensure repeal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law in 2010.

Second, Senator Carl Levin, Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, should ensure that full repeal language is included in the original draft of the Fiscal Year 2011 National Defense Authorization Act that is crafted within his committee. These two actions together can ensure that the necessary support is in place to secure the needed votes for repeal of the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law in 2010.

Yesterday, Gansler's office responded to Dywers stupidity by issuing this statement:: “The Maryland Constitution explicitly states that a ‘court of law’ is the forum for proceedings to remove an Attorney General.”

So basically Attorney General stud told homophobic wingnut to shut up and learn his own state constitution!

The Supreme Court refused today to recognize a request made by marriage equality foes to halt a law allowing gay marriage to take effect in the District of Columbia starting tomorrow.

Opponents of gay marriage asked Chief Justice John Roberts to stop the city from issuing the licenses on Wednesday while they appealed. They argued that D.C. voters should have been allowed to vote on the issue. Local courts have rejected the opponents' arguments. 'It has been the practice of the court to defer to the decisions of the courts of the District of Columbia on matters of exclusively local concern,' said Roberts, writing for the court. He also pointed out that Congress could have voted to stop the city government from putting the law into effect and didn't. Opponents have also asked city courts to allow a voter referendum on gay marriage, and they 'will have the right to challenge any adverse decision ... in this court at the appropriate time,' Roberts said."

And now in a last, last ditch effort, the homophobic bigots are trying to pull out one last stop. filed an unusual 'motion for clarification' in the D.C. Court of Appeals to request that it revisit last week’s decision denying them a preliminary injunction. Then late this afternoon, opponents also filed a frivolous complaint in federal court seeking a temporary restraining order, naming as defendants D.C., the Mayor and the Chief Judge of the D.C. Superior Court. Opponents claim their Fifth Amendment due process rights have been denied because they 'have not yet had a meaningful opportunity to brief the merits of their claim… or an opportunity to be heard.'"

Last week, Minnesota held its first ever marriage equality hearings when the state’s House Civil Justice committee began considering three same sex unions bills. None are expected to pass, but that didn’t stop Barb Davis White, Teabagger and candidate for Minnesota’s 5th Congressional district, from offering up some hatefuligoted bile at the hearing.

Rosa Parks did not move to the front of the bus to support sodomy. There is no difference between a black person and a white person other than their skin color when there’s a tremendous difference between a man and a woman. Allowing a black woman and a white man to marry does not change the definition of marriage. However, allowing two men or two women to marry would fundamentally change that definition

If Rosa Parks were alive today, she would tear Barb Davis White’s hair off her scalp.

White doesn’t deserve the civil rights that we all have fought for her to have. If that’s her take on ’sodomy,’ then she should go back to living as a second-class citizen in order to known what it’s like to be treated differently. Once she’s tired of leading her life as a second-class citizen, then maybe she will have the sufficient empathy in her heart to realize that it’s not up to the public to grant/deny civil rights, because those rights exist despite the public’s opinion.
