You know you hurt, you know you need help to get back to the physical fitness level you enjoyed before you got hurt. You did exactly what you should have done and sought advice from a trained sports physical therapists. Now you are being told you would be better served with a physical therapist that specializes in orthopedic care. Many people among the general public aren’t aware that there are distinct specialties a physical therapist can choose to pick. Orthopedic and sports physical therapy often go hand in hand. While a sports injury certainly can be related to muscle damage only, it definitely isn’t uncommon for an injury to be related to the bones either. Here is a deeper look at how orthopedic and sports physical therapy goes together to help you make the decision about which kind of professional you should see.

In order to practice both the medicine of orthopedic and sports physical therapy, the therapist has to have the general required education in physical therapy and have completed specialized work in orthopedics. In other words, they are required to have a more extensive education than other physical therapists. Some of the more in depth techniques and knowledge acquired pertain to special joint mobilization techniques and electrical stimulation procedures. They are licensed to diagnose, treat, and provide after care management for injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system like serious sports injuries, post op joints, and arthritis. These therapists are also able to provide assistance to amputees to increase their quality of life.

With orthopedic and sports physical therapy you can expect to find treatments like strength training, electrical stimulation, and hot/cold pack use as well as individualized exercise plans. These professionals are well educated in teaching patients the correct way to perform their exercises for safety and maximum results. In addition to the types of medical cases that benefit from orthopedic and sports physical therapy, you can add any specific problem relating to the diseases of the tendons, ligaments, and bones. The combination of specialties creates a well rounded professional who can improve the body function of a wide assortment of patients.

Try to not be alarmed if your doctor or another medical professional suggests seeking the help of an orthopedic and sports physical therapy professional. You can look forward to effective, knowledgeable care individualized for your specific special needs. This particular study of sports physical therapy ensures the most comprehensive care for patients with a variety of ailments and injuries. You can look forward to feeling much better with the exercises and therapies provided for your injury.

The field of orthopedic and sports physical therapy opens a new world of healing for people with an assortment of problems. The combination of the two disciplines ensures every aspect of the health problem is taken care of in a safe and effective manner.

does compacted upper intestines cause back pain and frontal pelvic pain?

Was told my large intestines were compacted about a week or so ago. I had terrible pain in my lower left side next to my hip bone. That has gone away within a couple days of diagnosis. Now horrific pain for the last 2 days across the middle of my back to the front. Pain going down to the front of my hips.

Andrew answers:

I’m a chiropractor in the Dayton, Ohio area. The impacted intestine could cause referred pain involving the lower back. The symptoms in the left side next to the hip bone correlates with the descending colon. The pain in the middle of the back could also be referred pain from a impacted colon. However, the problem of the impacted colon could also be caused by a problem in the lower back. The autonomic nerves in the lower back also help control bowel motility.

If the problem is caused by the impacted colon, it should easily be resolved by a colon cleanse. Do not eat any dairy or meat products for the next 3-4 days and load up on your veggies. You could also take a fiber supplement. This should improve bowel function and resolve your problem if it is a simple case of impaction.

I would also recommend that you follow up with your PCP to address this problem if it worsens or does not resolve.

Could this be caused by the position of the baby?

Yes. Its called sciatica. I have it in my legs. It just means the baby is in a weird position and is pushing on nerves and stuff. Theres nothing they can do about it. but yes it is common.

Can appendicitis cause back pain? AKA What is wrong with me?

I’ve had the same sort of pain for about a week. It starts just to the right side of my right hip bone (in my lower abdomen) and radiates down my right leg into my knee and around my pelvic bone across my lower back. The pain is not constant (some days I have no pain at all) and is a bit like a cramping/stabbing hurt. It started out as a non-rhythmic throbbing, but as the week has gone by I’m now in some sort of pain when ever I’m on my feet. When sitting down the hip/abdominal pain goes away and I’m left with a dull lower back ache. I’ve also noticed that the pain always seems to flare up when ever I have to use the bathroom (bowel movement). I haven’t had any trouble “going” but I do seem to be going more frequently. I have no nausea or fever, nor do I have a noticeably swollen abdomen. I’ve racked my brain and searched the internet for causes of these symptoms but I can’t seem to diagnose them exactly.

Kidney stones? Appendicitis? Ovarian cysts? Crohn’s disease? Help!
The pain is just on the left side of my right hip bone. (sorry for the typo)

Andrew answers:

Without a fever and acute pain in the abdomen (you say the pain is right side of right hip bone which isn’t in your abdomen) it isn’t likely appendicitis. Kidney stones will let you know they are there within 24hrs of first pain. They make you scream!!

Most likely you are dealing with sciatic nerve damage, or lower back spasm/injury. This is treatable with anti-inflammatories, massage, and ultimately injections once the source of the nerve pain is known.

My advice is to go seek a MD.

Can certain foods cause back pain?

After I eat certain foods (can’t really be sure which to be exact), about 1-2 hours later I start to get back pain and it is located on both sides of my back. It’s like a stinging, burning sensation. It lasts for a few hours. I have had my kidneys checked, blood tests and stuff and everything seems fine. Does anyone have any idea what could be going on?

Andrew answers:

I can’t feel that food would cause that , other than some items like nuts and chocolate are reported to be causes or factors in kidney stones. Xrays would show if someone had those developed though.
I would make note of what you eat and if this causes a reaction. It may be that it is irritating your body , but not necessarily the back. Since you have nerves that go through the whole body it may feel like it is in the spine but may be in muscles or tissue near the spine just. Burning sensation is usually a sign of acid reflux or acid indigestion. I’d talk to a gastroenterologist if that continues now.

Try initially taking a heartburn medication like tums or zantac. If this relieves it then you may have heartburn. Taking prilosec or nexium are proven ways to control or reduce this but have to take daily.

Infact google waves is not using your pc’s hard disk but but your clouded hard disk. I did it with files, and photos before but waves say you can do it with video and more.

Lower back pain affects both men and women of all ages. It can limit the life of the person it affects and can often prevent them from earning a living. As such, only a physician can make a proper diagnostic evaluation of low back pain.

When visiting a doctor for your diagnostic evaluation of low back pain, make sure you have your full medical history prepared for the doctor. A few things that the doctor will ask before making a diagnostic evaluation of low back pain will include whether there were previous episodes, if there were any injuries or accidents involving the back, neck, or hip, or if there is any history of cancer. The doctor will also ask if there is any unexplained weight loss or chronic infection, where the pain is exactly, and what triggered it. If you can tell your doctor where the pain is most severe, if any home treatments were used, other health problems, your job, any situation that may improve the situation or make it worse, bowel or urination problems or any other relevant information such as morning stiffness or numbness in the legs can help your doctor make an accurate diagnostic evaluation of low back pain.

The doctor will then perform a physical examination to observe the joints and muscles, check to see if there was any pain when lying down, sitting, as a result of a movement of the head, and to observe and feel the area of pain and to see if other areas of the body are painful or tender. To make a proper diagnostic evaluation of low back pain, the doctor will test nerve function using a rubber hammer, a pin, cotton swab or feather. This will test for numbness and nerve sensitivity.

Should the doctor not be able to make the correct diagnostic evaluation of low back pain, he or she will request lab tests to determine if there is an infection that could be causing the lower back pain. Other tests may be ordered to make the correct diagnostic evaluation of low back pain for people who are over the age of 65 or a history of cancer. These tests could include x-rays, CT scans, MRI, Bone Test, Blood tests, Myleogram, Bone Scintigraphy, electro diagnostic tests or nerve conduction studies.

Blood and urine samples may be taken to establish whether there are any infections, arthritis or any other condition that will allow making a diagnostic evaluation of low back pain possible. An injection of a drug that blocks pain into the nerves of the back may help locate the level of the spine where the pain happens. There are many possible causes of lower back pain that it is difficult to make the correct diagnostic evaluation of low back pain.

If the cause is still not clear to your doctor, your physician may recommend that you visit a rheumatologist, orthopedist, neurosurgeon, neurologist, psychiatrist, or any other medical specialist that may make the proper diagnostic evaluation of low back pain.

Ok. You probably use some kind of proxy or related programs that changes your IP into a certain IP (probably for Philipine). Google try to direct you to your country’s google site. It identifies your country from your ip address. Some other websites do the same. So check your proxy settings .

For IE : Tools| Internet options| Connections (tab) | settings | remove the checkmark from proxy server checkbox).

For firefox Tools|Options | Advanced | Network | settings | select “no proxy” and save your settings.

Andrew answers:

Original title of the novel is “Travnička hronika” (Chronicles of Travnik) and it has been translated in English as “The Days of the Consuls”, “Bosnian Chronicle” or “Bosnian Story”.

Jeane Daville is French consul, Parisian of delicate nature and poetic feeling about the world, coming from enlightened Europe into the small Bosnian town Travnik, the seat of Bosnia’s viziers at the time (visiers were governors of Ottoman provinces). It was also author’s hometown btw. There representatives of the great European empires have come to play out their epochal hostilities under the suspicious eyes of the local townfolk.
Trying to strengthen French influence in the Ottoman Empire, Daville manages to understand all the special features and gloomy character of Bosnian province, but gradually becomes himself part of the eternal melancholy and demagogic politics of the Ottoman Empire.

Novel mimics the narrative discourse of chronicles (thus its title), and covers the historical period from the arrival of French and Austrian consuls to vizier in Travnik in 1807 to their departure after the fall of Napoleon in 1814. In terms of a genre, the novel follows both tradition of realistic historical novels and modern historiographical fiction. It is a story about Bosnia, its cultural diversity, the diversity of human nature, nations and religions that build a rich cultural world, shaped and determined by historical changes. Relationship between history and individual and collective subjectivity is the central theme of this novel as well as a whole author’s prose opus.

Curious thing is that Andric wrote the book during WW2, rarely leaving his apartment in Nazi-occupied Belgrade. And he who wrote this portrayal of civilised diplomats immersed in a barbarous violent culture was, until the collapse under German invasion, an ambassador of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia – in Berlin.

I’m aware this is probably not the answer you were looking for but I didn’t find many scholar’s works on this in English so far. I’ll keep searching. In the meantime, I starred your question hoping that somebody will provide us with good links on the subject.

Andrew answers:

I have minor scoliosis and experience the same thing in the same place. My doctors have never suggested this as a reason although I will mention it next time I go in. I also have MS so I experience similar types of pain in other parts of my body from time to time. For me I think this is the cause. My doc said that it was from sitting for long periods of time at my job but I don’t really buy that.
For you I would say that it definately seems like a nerve pain. Perhaps you have a nerve that it being “hit” or “pinched” by your scoliosis or something else. My MS causes nerve pain but I am not suggesting that you have a nervous system disorder.
Regular pain relievers will not help. Massage and streching may. Try twisting your back when you stretch and reach out to your side.
I would mention this to your doctor since this has happened more than once, although it is probably nothing to be too alarmed about.

*I hate having pain in this spot because you cannot massage it yourself.*

Hope this helps some.

Extreme upper back pain after a day of anxiety attacks?

Ever since then my upper back by my right lung hurts so bad even when I breathe. Is this connected? What should I do?

Andrew answers:

Yeah i get this when I’m anxious and panicky. It’s where you tense your muscles and then suddenly release them which makes them really hurt. Take some paracetamol or ibruprofen (NOT BOTH) and put a heat pad on or a hot water bottle. Also try getting in the bath because you are relaxing and the steam is really refreshing.

If the meds you are taking aren’t helping your anxiety go back to your doctor and let them prescribe you something stronger as this might solve a lot of your issues

I once did something to my upper back. Actually I’ve hurt all parts of my back over my life. I’m just an active boy I guess.

Anyways, when I strained my upper back, it wasn’t fun to run or jump either. Especially true for Volleyball when you have to run, jump, and swing your arm. Not Good.

I was told that my back might not be able to heal because at night I wasn’t sleeping a natural position. When your spine or body isn’t “natural” the rest of your body is out of alignment as well. I was told to try these neck rolls that would help to take the tension off of my upper back. I tried it and after a while things started feeling better. I put a link to what I’m talking about in the sources section in case you are interested.

Bad upper back pain when standing long periods of time?

I work part time usually 4-5 hours each shift. Today 2 people didnt show up so i had to work a double, totalling 9 hours, and my upper back is killing me. I notice this happens when i am standing up for extended periods of time. We dont have breaks and never sit down, always on our feet. I have flat feet if that could cause problems too. How can i fix this though?

Andrew answers:

Upper back pain is a very common issue. There are a lot of factors that can cause pain in the region between the shoulder blades. The most common cause, especially in a younger person is overload to the muscles that support our necks.

That is, our head weighs about as much as a bowling ball. If we have a posture with forward rounded shoulders and a forward flexed neck (or the slouched posture we all lapse into without our mothers around), then we are putting a lot of strain on those muscles that keep our head from falling forward. We overload these muscles by maintaining this slouched posture for extended periods of time with imbalances and bad habits.

It takes a long time to change postural habits, but there are a number of things that can be done in the short and long term to address these issues.
1.Postural awareness. Just by being aware of when we slouch we can begin to make changes.
2.Exercises to correct imbalances. I have some of my favorite exercise posted on my blog on the following page: http://www.backexercisedoctor.com/journal/2009/12/7/neck-pain-generalities-and-my-favorite-neck-exercises.html.
3.Posture braces can help with posture re-education. There are a lot of braces that can be found out there on the internet. I do not have any that I specifically endorse but amazon.com has several under the heading of posture brace or clavicle brace.
4.Ergonomic modification. Reviewing our workspace, computer set-up, monitor height, chair height, etc. Can make a dramatic difference both in terms of pain and the repetitive overloading that we can do to tissues in this region.

Hopefully that helps.

To set it up, all you have to do is access your GV account, click “Settings” located top-right of page > Voice Settings > Phone tab > and check the Google Chat box for forwarding calls to that service. Click Save when done.

Is the voice/audio quality good when on macbook pro? I am going to be using google voice for business phone calls. Thank you!

1) Go to Google Calendar, click Settings.
there is so many ways how to get traffic for your blogs but the question is are you willing to pay or not if you do, use Adwords, but if have low budget use SEO for long term Investment but unfortunately SEO need times at least three month or more, anyway if you using Adwords don’t forget to optimize your Adwords, use Google Analytic , to get more specific location about your niche, do some keyword research, to get cheap prices, and buy some e-books or download about Adwords free e-book , believe me using Adwords without any knowledge can kill your pocket,

PS. Use hubpages to get Instant traffic its much better than other blogs, believe me you will enjoy using hubpages, cause hubpages is so easy lol

Be as specific as you want then if you get to many results use more details; example “john doe” Washington, dc.

you will get phone book results as well as websites mentioning john doe.

You can do allot with google, they have an advanced search page to use if you want, or you can learn all the key words to add to the search bar to bring specific results you are looking for.

Chiropractic is a method of treatment that manipulates the spine and other body structures to relieve pain. Many consider chiropractic a non-invasive, drug-free, safe therapy for treating neuro-musculoskeletal complaints such as back pain, joint pain in the legs or arms, neck pain, and shoulder pain. Like all health treatments, there can be rare potential adverse effects. Some people will turn to chiropractic for neck manipulation and upper back pain treatment because other pain methods did not work for them. Although chiropractic risks are very small and many people find almost instant relief after a treatment, some patients experience minor aching or slight soreness similar to exercising. Some studies show that manual manipulation for chronic spinal pain provided more affective short-term relief than many types of medications.

Although neck manipulation and upper back pain treatment is very safe, there have been some reports that associated a specific type of stroke with upper high-velocity neck manipulation but the cause or correction is not clear. This is extremely rare with the occurrence rate at approximately one in over five and a half million neck manipulations. There are also some reports that suggest a person experiencing severe, sudden headache and/or upper neck pain will seek chiropractic relief, because they believe it is a neck problem, when it may actually be a pre-stroke condition. Speak to your doctor if you have any medical conditions and are considering chiropractic treatment for neck manipulation and upper back pain treatments.

Treating upper back pain, neck pain and some specific headaches types, using neck manipulation, also called cervical manipulation or neck adjustment helps the majority of patients. A neck manipulation and upper back pain treatment is done to improve the necks mobility, which reduces muscle spasms and restores motion range by alleviating tension and pressure. It is an exact procedure to the neck joints and normally applied by hand. Patients that have received a neck manipulation and upper back pain procedure usually notice an improvement in neck mobility and less stiffness, soreness, and pain.

For people that do not want neck manipulation and upper back pain treatments, there are many other back pain therapies available for neck and upper back pain. Acupuncture treatment for pain is a very safe technique that has proven to relieve many patients old, new, and even chronic pain. Used for centuries, acupuncture uses needles to stimulate the nerve pathways to the brain through the spinal cord. Although this sounds painful, it is not. Other neck and upper back pain treatments also include stretching exercises, massage therapy, yoga, and herbs.

Which New Balance shoes are good for a female runner with low back pain, cross trainers or running shoes?

I do aerobics, weight train, and run on a treadmill, and my lower back hurts all the time. Running shoes seem to make it worse. Anyone have experience with New Balance Cross Trainers?

Andrew answers:

Since different styles of running demand different styles of shoes…

The best thing you can do is go down a Running Lab. In fact there’s a place by that name; “Running Lab.”

They will have you take off your shoes, watch you walk, and even take an imprint of your foot. After doing so, they will spend a few minutes analyzing everything. They will ask you a few questions about your running style and your level of running.

Once they have finished they will direct you to a wall of shoes, that has ALL different brands of shoes on it and say something like; “These are what we recommend for you based on your foot’s shape, the way you run, where your foot actually impacts the ground and the width of slimness of your feet.

After they show you the selection, try a few pairs on, take them for a “test run” around the block and once you’ve found a pair that you like, then get them.

They are GREAT! My spouse has ran a marathon and we are training once again for another one coming up in May. We always go to the running lab. Oh…and the shoes, are sold at a great price too.

I’ve personally used the Running Lab, along with my spouse and many others, they are FANTASTIC! And they have all kinds of different Brands of shoes. From Nike to New Balance. =)

Hope this helps…oh, the shoes that I picked out ended up being about $80 or so.

are electro muscle stimulator good for low back pain?

Andrew answers:

I dont know.

I hurt my back somehow, lower back. I mainly had issues first thing in the morning but it was getting progressively worse and starting to bother me during the day. I tried using a heating pad and taking 400 mg of Ibuprofin and it gave me minimum relief so I went to the doctor since my back was not getting any better. I weigh 230 pounds and 6’1″.

She prescribed 800 mg of ibuprofin 3 times a day(every time I ate). She also had me take an acid reflux pill first thing in the morning because of the high dose of ibuprofin, which she stated would tear up my stomach. She also prescribed flexeril at bedtime, which is a muscle relaxer as I was told. She had me xrayed to make sure it was not a spinal problem. My xrays came back negative so it was simply a sprained muscle.

The ibuprofin you can get over the counter and the acid reflux pill. But you really should goto a doctor as my pain might be different from yours … Mine did not hurt to go side to side only when getting up from a chair or out of bed. You could have a slipped disk or other spinal problem.

Hope this helps.

Is it common to have abdominal pain when you have a low back disc rupture?

Can low back disc pains cause abdominal pain? Or would it be 2 different things going on?

Andrew answers:

Very possible. But abdominal pain can also radiate to the back (as is the case with a number of abdominal disease processes, I would recommend consulting your GP (or Orthopedic specialts if you are already under his care for the disk problem)

It is common for Sacral-Lumbar muscle pain to slowly involve the abdominal complex of muscles if allowed to weaken with the back. If you have a prolapsed disk, similar pain can ensue. And of course you may not be using core muscles as much due to the pain you have. They slacken and cause more muscular pain.

Once you have ruled out abdominal pathology for your pain, discuss with your physician exercises that can increase your core strength. This might be the best way to bring everything back into line and attenuate you discomfort.

Occationally, a website update or a glitch in the iPad may prevent the page or images from loading properly. Don’t panic. It’s a simple fix.

If it’s the iPad:
– Just hold down the black power off button and shut the iPad down for a few minutes. We to often forget that these devices are computers too and need the occational reboot. After a while, turn it back on and go back to the site. It should be back to normal. If not, go down to the next step listed below.

If it’s the website:
– Just give it a day. Some things just have glitches and it takes a while to get them all out. It should work. If it doesn’t resolve within a day, contact your local consultant at an Apple store for further help.

Many times when people are obese or even overweight, they will usually have some sort of back pain that is related to their sciatica. In fact, most of the time it is their sciatica that is causing the pain; due to the abundance of weight on it.

Because some many people are having problems with their sciatica‘s and also having unwanted back pain, many times when they go to a physician of some sort they will be told to lose weight before doing any other type of procedure. In fact, many doctors will put a guarantee on sciatica relief with weight loss. However, just because some people do have sciatica relief with weight loss does not mean that everyone will, as not all do! Some people in fact just have bad backs.

Along with having sciatica relief with weight loss, there will be many other great side effects, such as feeling more confident and having a higher self esteem level. For many people having sciatica relief with weight loss is enough for them; as they are no longer in pain. In fact, many people choose to lose the weight strictly so they don’t have the sciatica pain any longer.

Many times when doctors recommend that people loss weight for back problems, they are not sure that it is the sciatica that is causing the problems. Therefore, that is why they try to have the patients lose weight before anything; to rule any other problems out first. What many people don’t understand is how difficult it is to lose weight, much less for a specific reason. Because many people have problems losing weight, there are now many specific ways to lose weight for sciatica relief. In fact, there are now many different programs that are available for sciatica relief with weight loss. One of the most common programs that people like to use is a video or computer program.

Another way that people get sciatica relief with weight loss is by drinking and eating healthier. In fact, many doctors recommend when having sciatica pain is drinking more fluids (such as water) and taking vitamins or supplemental antioxidants. Some of best antioxidants for sciatica relief with weight loss are Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Beta Carotene.

Along with their being many different types of medical ways to rid sciatica relief from the back, there are also many different all-natural remedies; as well. In fact, one of the most used “natural remedies” is by using Pilates or Yoga.

Whether you are having sciatica pain for the first time or have had pain for a while, it is definitely worth trying to lose weight before trying any other procedures! Trying natural solutions is easier and less expensive than any medical procedure.

Andrew answers:

It is probably a kidney stone. Or the stone may be in the ureter. He should have a CAT scan to be sure, especially if it goes on for a few days and doesn’t go away. He might pass a stone. You could have him use a coffee filter to strain his urine for the next few days, and he might be able to retrieve a stone. They could then analyze it and tell him what chemical he has too much of, such as calcium. Then the doctor can advise him what kind of stones he has, and he would then avoid that kind of food in the future.

The bowel thing, that could be constipation. Both conditions can be caused by insufficient fluids in the body. Alcohol actually dehydrates a person’s body, so he should start drinking more water, to counteract the effects of the alcohol.

I heard that Google Books offers millions of ebooks for free but idont know or see any link. Help me out if you know how.

Andrew answers:

Go to www.google.com on the left hand side of the page is a list- starts Everything, Images, etc. At the bottom of that list is More, click it. You will then see Books, click it, search for a topic and books will come up which you can narrow by clicking Free Google e-books on the left hand menu under Browse Books (they also sell books). Then once you find a book you want download it using your Gmail account. It’s then stored in your library in your account, although with some you can download as pdf or e-reader versions. They mostly have historical stuff for free. It was a great place for genealogy research. Also you can get free classics at www.gutenburgproject.com formatted for e-pub, kindle, & pdf. Also newer books can be downloaded through your local library if they are connected to the overdrive system. I e-borrow all the time it’s great.
