Ha pasado mucho tiempo desde que subí una entrada aquí, y aunque esta misma entrada acabo de ponerla en Mis Cosas prefiero ponerla aquí también.

Ayer me decidí a experimentar con el producto de Army Painter, sí el famoso Quickshade, que promete resultados fabulosos con las sombras, sin tener que ser un maestro de la pintura. Decidí probarlo con cinco enanos de Mantic de mi ejército, y bueno... la realidad es que según sus indicaciones no he quedado del todo satisfecho.

En mi caso he probado el "soft tone" (tono suave) porque no quería arriesgarme a estropear las miniaturas, y aunque las sombras las marca bastante bien, está claro que con ciertos colores este tono no es el adecuado, y quizá deba probar con el tono siguiente de la gama.

Yesterday I decided to experiment with the product of Army Painter, yes the famous Quickshade, which promises great results with the shadows, without having to be a master painter. En la foto superior se puede ver el resultado del "baño" con Quickshade, y como podréis observar mi esquema de color está basado en el rojo; armadura dorada y cueros en marrón. A parte del tono brillante que da este producto (que luego se mata con el barniz) he comprobado que no baja el tono del dorado, por lo que voy a tener que experimentar con una mezcla de dorado y cobre, a ver si así la cosa mejora.. Los marrones los trata mejor, al igual que los rojos. Sin embargo lo que son los tonos metálicos, como la armadura que ya he comentado, el acero tampoco lo oscurece como me gustaría. Así que para arreglar un poco estas miniaturas tengo dos opciones. La primera será aplicar las tintas de Citadel y ver si lo arreglo un poco, y la segunda, seguir con el experimento y darles un nuevo baño en Quickshade.

Está claro que si doy con las combinaciones adecuadas, el pintado del grueso de mi ejército será muy rápido, que es lo que busco en realidad. Son muchísimas miniaturas y carezco del tiempo necesario para dedicarle dos días a cada miniatura.

It is clear that if I give with the right combinations, the coating thickness of my army will be very fast, which is really what I want. There are many miniatures and I have no time to devote two days each miniature.

Por otro lado, he aprovechado que mi amigo Cienciencías me paso el miércoles pasado una plancha de imán, para colocarlas en las bases de movimiento y en las bases de las miniaturas. Las bases de movimiento me las hago yo mismo con resina, y las hago cerradas por los cuatro lados (en Kings of War no se retiran miniaturas de la base como bajas) así que la propia presión del resto de peanas hace que todas sean muy estables. Sin embargo es un autentico engorro tener que colocarlas en las bases, así que prefiero llevarlas ya colocadas y no tener que perder ese tiempo al comienzo de la partida.

The movement trays I make it myself with resin, and I closed on four sides (in Kings of War the casualities are not removed from the tray) so the pressure of the other bases makes all very stable. However, it is a real hassle having to put on the tray, so I prefer to carry and place it before and not having to spend that time at the beginning of the game.

Mi amigo Imarchi ha recibido esta semana el set de miniaturas The Liche King's Hell Horde de Mantic y me ha pasado unas fotografías se lo que incluye este "bundle".

Como se puede ver es una buena cantidad de miniaturas, muchas cajas y en definitiva muchos muertos vivientes. Lo peor es que voy a tener que enfrentarme a esa cantidad de muertos con mi ejército de enanos y creo que lo voy a pasar muy mal.

Por fin he terminado mi primera tropa de enanos acorazados. Y acabo de empezar mi primera tropa de ballesteros, aunque aun no he hecho fotos, pero en cuento estén un poco más avanzados lo veréis.

Desde que decidí coleccionar miniaturas de Mantic Games y jugar a Kings of War me he centrado casi en exclusiva en montar y pintar las miniaturas de este juego. De hecho durante este tiempo he dejado a un lado (aunque no olvidado) mi nuevo ejército tiránido de Warhammer 40,000. En la foto de arriba están los primeros enanos que entraron en el taller, aunque ya están terminados y pondré las fotos más adelante.
Hace unos días mi amigo Imarchi y yo nos echamos a suertes con que ejércitos íbamos a jugar, y a mi me ha tocado los enanos, por lo que será el primer ejército que pinte.
Pero entre las cosas que quería mostraros no es sólo el estado de la pintura de este ejército de enanos, también algunas cosas que he estado desarrollando para facilitar el juego. La primera de ellas son las bandejas de movimiento, me gustan estas bandejas totalmente cerradas por que ajustan mejor las miniaturas y se caen menos, pero en el caso de los enanos además tienen una miniatura el mastín que no tiene peana, y que en realidad sólo es un marcador de ataque. Pero para mantenerlo fijo sobre la bandeja de movimiento he hecho lo siguiente:

He fijado del mastín a una moneda de 1 céntimo de euro, primero para darle estabilidad a la miniatura, ya que al tener una cabeza tan grande no está equilibrada y cae hacía delante, con el peso adicional de la moneda ya se mantiene correctamente en pie. Pero el problema es mantener esta miniatura en la bandeja de movimiento sin que se caiga y esta es mi solución.

He añadido una sección circular de plasticard a la bandeja y en la parte superior he pegado un pequeño imán. De esta forma al poner el mastín con la peana metálica, queda totalmente fijada y sin moverse por mucho que la bandeja se desplace.

Por ahora esto es todo, aunque en breve subiré las fotos de esta unidad de enanos terminada.

Ya llegó mi caja de Mhorgoth's Revenge, y estoy más contento que unas castañuelas y voy a abrirla haciendo unas cuantas fotos para mostrar el contenido, sobre todo para aquellos que estén dudando comprar esta caja de miniaturas o empezar a jugar a Kings of War.
Ante todo os diré que el contenido de la caja cumple con todas las expectativas que tenía sobre ella, y está muy lejos de incluir cosas superfluas y artificios que encarecen el producto, tened en cuenta que esta caja cuesta 40 libras en el Reino Unido, 50 euros para todos los demás.

Como veis está llena hasta los topes de matrices, y so contenido son 110 miniaturas más dos maquinas de guerra, una catapulta para los muertos vivientes y un cañón para los enanos.

Además de las miniaturas, está el reglamento, la hoja con las estadísticas de los ejércitos, ocho puntos mantic para el programa de puntos y el número 2 del Mantic Journal... aaaaah! y cinco dados.
Si tengo tiempo hoy empezaré a montar los enanos, y empezará mi depresión al ver todo lo que tengo que pintar. Los muertos vivientes los dejaré para un poco más adelante (2 ó 3 días) y empezaré con los zombies, que tengo muchas ganas de verlos montados y ver si de verdad son como en las fotos (jejeje).

Already got my box Mhorgoth's Revenge, and I'm happier than a castanets (sorry, this is a spanish cliche) and I will open it and make a few pictures to show content, especially for those who are hesitating to buy this box of miniatures or start playing Kings of War.
First of all I will say that the contents of the box meets all expectations I had about it, and is far from superfluous and devices include things that raise the cost of the product, keep in mind that this box is 40 pounds in the UK, 50 euros for all others.

Retornados finalizados / Revenants finished

Sí, lo conseguí.
Ya puedo dar por terminada la primera unidad de retornados, con su bandeja de movimiento y la rata muerta, que había olvidado pintar y anoche me acorde de ella. Así que os dejo más fotografías de la unidad y esta vez bastante mejores.

Para la próxima unidad buscaré un sistema para poner a las ratas para que no se pierdan o se caigan de la peana y estoy pensando en poner un pequeño imán en la miniatura y en la bandeja. Ya pensaré como lo hago.
Respecto a la bandeja de movimiento, como veis la he decorado igual que las peanas para que se note lo menos posible, y está totalmente cerrada para que las peanas encajen y se muevan lo mínimo.
Y ahora... a pintar mis enanos acorazados.

Yes, I got it.

Los primeros Retornados / First Revenants

Después de un par de días de pintura intensiva, esta tarde he dado por terminados los primeros retornados, pertenecientes a la caja que adquirí en septiembre, aun falta la bandeja de movimiento, pero está casi concluida también. La verdad es que estos días de pintura han sido muy gratificantes, pintar algo diferente y volver a los inicios ha renovado mis ganas por el hobby en general. Y sobre todo la ilusión de empezar con un juego nuevo, empezando con uno de los ejércitos desde cero.

Esta tarde como no he podido sentarme a pintar, he estado montando nuevas bandejas de movimiento, en previsión a la llegada de mi caja de Mhorgoth's Revenge y en cuanto llegue, mi idea es ir pintando unidades alternas para ir haciendo los dos ejércitos a la vez, lo malo será el tiempo que me va a llevar, por que tengo ganas ya de jugar.
Ya con esto primero terminado volveré a pintar miniaturas de mi ejército tiránido, y en Mis cosas de 40K podreis verlos avances a partir de mañana (eso espero).
En cuanto los tres zoantropos que he empezado estén terminados volveré a KoW para pintar los 10 enanos Ironclad que compre este mes.

Durante los días que he dedicado a pintar los retornados, ya ha estado rondandome la cabeza cosas que hacer para incluir en el ejército de muertos vivientes de KoW, y como siempre voy añadiendolo a la lista de proyectos pendientes. Al final voy a tener una lista de cosas "por hacer" tan larga que voy a tener que montar un negocio por franquicias para asignar proyectos a otras personas.

Por ahora cierro este capítulo, y espero reabrir el mausoleo pronto, por que estos muertos vivientes necesitan un buen sitio donde pasar la noche.

After a couple of days of intensive painting, this afternoon I have been terminated the Revenants belonging to the box I bought in September, still lack the movement tray, but is almost complete as well. At the end I will have a list of things "to do" so long that I have to start a business by franchising to assign projects to other people.

For now I close this chapter and hope to reopen the mausoleum soon, these undead need good place to spend the night.

El primero es este.
Enano del norte portaestandarte que salió a la venta en 1991. Diseñado por Alan y Michael Perry. Aparece en la página 214 del Catálogo Rojo de 1991 con la referencia 074311/29.
La miniatura está sin pintar, pero está imprimada en blanco a pincel.

The model is unpainted, but primed in white with a brush.

Hoy se ponía a la venta la caja básica de juego de Kings of War. Que contiene el reglamento y dos ejércitos para empezar a jugar, enanos y muertos vivientes.

Aunque aun no ha caído en mis manos, estoy deseando que eso ocurra, ya no sólo por pintar estas miniaturas que me gustan mucho, si no porque tengo una curiosidad muy grande en leerme el reglamento ya terminado. Tengo puestas mis esperanzas en este juego, no sólo por el precio, qué es realmente apetecible, pero he seguido la evaluación que ha hecho el publico de la beta y creo que puede convertirse en la mejor alternativa a GW del mercado.
Así que espero poder hacer efectiva mi reserva lo antes posible y ya os contaré cuales son mis impresiones definitivas sobre el trabajo de Alessio Cavatore y todo el personal de Mantic.

Mantic today put on sale the basic box set of Kings of War. Containing the core rule set and two armies to start playing, dwarves and undead.

Although not yet fallen into my hands, I'm hoping that happens, not only for painting these miniatures that I love, but because I have a great curiosity to read the finished rules. I have placed my hopes in this game, not only for the price, which is really tempting, but I have followed the assessment made by the public of the beta and I think can become the best alternative to market GW.

Retrieving old projects / Recuperando viejos proyectos

As I said when I started this blog, I will recover old projects to share with you. The first and for me the most important of all is a campaign called Zhirsanaq. Began to take shape in 1988 during a game of AD&D that play to my home group. The game lasted almost 5 years and went from AD&D to AD&D Second Edition in the process. During that time I was collecting notes and gradually I built a world, with the help of my players were giving a depth that has been the foundation of everything we built later.

After finishing the campaign in 1992, played some more games within the same environment with different characters in different parts of the world Zhirsanaq, but since 1995 I did not touch it until 2003. During that year I began to collect all the notes, characters and adventures that I wrote so far and in 2004 opened a website (www.zhirsanaq.net) to report everything, adapting to the new version published by Wizards of the Coast. Unfortunately this site was closed by the incompetence of my ISP in 2007, but during that time I accumulated a lot of material adapted to D&D 3.0 and 3.5.
Now I've rethought this project, but honestly I have no desire to adapt it to D&D 4.0, but I want to publish all the material I have and the new one that'll create so everyone can use it if you like, and you can contribute if you find it interesting . In principle no special adaptations to any particular game from the beginning, only data about places, history and personalities from the world of Zhirsanaq, but time will include statistics of these characters for different games, especially D&D 3.5 and I also plan to bring troops and characters that can be used in the miniatures game Kings of War.

I must also say that this time I am not alone in this project, my friend Imarchi this new project will assist in generating more material and adapting it to other games including Pathfinder (here I catch up).
To take forward this project, will use the blogger blogging system to make it much easier for Imarchi and my update material and provide access for all, linking posts for each part of the world, but that will stem http://zhirsanaq.blogger.com for the Spanish version and http://zhirsanaq-en.blogger.com for the English version. As 100% of the current material is written in Spanish take a while to make translations so I ask you to be patient. By the moment both blogs are closed until we organize all data, but the spanish versión will be open in the next days, possibly the next week. For the english version I don't know when we can open it, but I promise that we work on it to open as soon as possible.

Como conté cuando empecé este blog, voy a recuperar viejos proyectos para compartirlos con vosotros. El primero y para mi el más importante de todos es un entorno de campaña llamado Zhirsanaq. Comenzó a tomar forma en 1988 durante una partida de AD&D que dirigí a mi grupo habitual. La partida duró casi 5 años, y pasó de AD&D a AD&D Second Edition en el proceso. Durante ese tiempo fui recogiendo notas y poco a poco se fue construyendo un mundo, con la ayuda de mis jugadores que le fueron dando una profundidad que ha sido la base de todo lo que construí después.

Tras finalizar la campaña en 1992, se jugaron algunas partidas más dentro del mismo entorno con personajes distintos y en distintas partes del mundo de Zhirsanaq, pero desde 1995 no volví a tocarlo hasta el año 2003. Durante ese año comencé a recopilar todas las notas, personajes y aventuras que escribí hasta el momento y en 2004 abrí una página web (www.zhirsanaq.net) para publicarlo todo, adaptándolo a la nueva versión publicada por Wizards of the Coast. Por desgracia esa web fue cerrada por la incompetencia de mi proveedor en 2007, pero durante ese tiempo acumulé mucho material adaptado a D&D 3.0 y 3.5.
Ahora me he replanteado este proyecto, pero sinceramente no tengo ganas de adaptarlo a D&D 4.0, sin embargo quiero publicar todo el material que tengo y el nuevo que iré creando para que todos podáis utilizarlo si os gusta, y que podáis contribuir si os parece interesante. En principio no habrá adaptaciones especiales a ningún juego concreto desde el principio, sólo datos sobre lugares, historia y personajes del mundo de Zhirsanaq, aunque puntualmente se incluirán estadísticas de dichos personajes para distintos juegos, sobre todo D&D 3.5 y también estoy pensando en adaptar tropas y personajes para que puedan ser utilizados en el juego de miniaturas Kings of War.
También he de deciros que esta vez no estoy sólo en este proyecto, mi amigo Imarchi colaborará en este nuevo proyecto generando más material y adaptándolo a otros juegos entre ellos Pathfinder (en este debo ponerme al día).

Para sacar adelante este proyecto, utilizaré el sistema de blogs de blogger, para que sea mucho más fácil para Imarchi y para mi actualizar el material y facilitar el acceso para todos, encadenando blogs específicos para cada parte del mundo, pero que tendrán su origen en http://zhirsanaq.blogger.com para la versión en español y en http://zhirsanaq-en.blogger.com para la versión en inglés. Como el 100% del material actual esta escrito en español tardaré un poco en hacer las traducciones por lo que os pido que seáis pacientes. Por el momento ambos blogs están cerrados hasta que podamos organizar todo el material, pero se abrirá en los próximos días, esperamos que sea la próxima semana. Respecto a la versión en inglés, nos llevará un poco más de tiempo, pero la abriremos lo antes posible.

Cuando comencé a hacer el mausoleo, subí las primeras fotos del proceso de construcción al foro "La Posada del Friki". Uno de los usuarios subió una imagen para indicarme donde me había equivocado a la hora de hacer el arco de la entrada. Así que pongo aquí esa imagen para compartirla con vosotros.

Esta mañana he decidido crear una página nueva dentro del blog para que sea más fácil localizar las reglas de Kings of war. En principio sólo he puesto los enlaces a la traducción que hice el mes pasado. Pero subiré las originales en inglés en cuanto pueda subirlas a Google Docs. Por lo menos para hacer comparaciones.

Como ya dije en su momento, si después de leer ambas versiones encontráis algo que este mal o que no os parezca que la traducción sea correcta sólo tenéis que dejar un comentario al respecto para que me ponga a arreglarlo.
Por cierto, ilustro esta entrada con uno de los avances de Mantic sobre su nuevo ejército, en este caso es un orco, así que pronto podremos verlos.

Parece ser que el reglamento de Kings of War ya está completo y que su edición en inglés ya está en las imprentas para ser incluido en la caja Mhorgoth's Revenge. Y según Mantic las versiones en italiano y alemán están casi listas. Parece ser que están preparando nuevas traducciones pero aun no han confirmado nada sobre que idiomas serán los siguientes. Espero que una de ellas sea el español.
Esta noticia me alegra muchísimo, porque parece ser que de verdad las compañías dedicadas a los juegos se toman muy en serio las traducciones.

El regreso de la Caja Roja / Return of the Red Box

¡¡¡Sí,sí, sí!!! ¡¡¡La caja roja ha vuelto!!!
Pero no lancéis las campanas al vuelo aún, porque no se trata de una re-edición del antiguo, si no de una nueva versión algo desvirtuada a mi parecer. No he podido ver el interior ni hacer una revisión de los textos aun, pero todo indica que todo el reglamento es nuevo y orientado hacia la 4.0. En esta edición sólo se puede avanzar hasta el segundo nivel, mientras que en el original se podía avanzar hasta el tercero.
Lo bonito de esto, es que han conservado el diseño del original, incluyendo la ilustración de Larry Elmore de la caja.
Los contenidos de la caja incluyen los dos manuales, el de jugador y dungeon master, unas cartas de poderes, dados y parece ser que unas plantillas de suelos. Aunque no sea el original, debemos estar de enhorabuena, por que después de 25 años la fórmula usada por Gary Gigax y TSR en su momento sigue funcionando y Wizards en un falso ataque de sentimentalismo quiere vendernos algo nuevo con papel de envolver viejo.
Es una lástima que no sea el autentico original.

Yes, yes, yes! The red box is back!

But to contain the joy, because it is not a re-release the old, it´s a new version somewhat misleading in my opinion. I could not see inside or do a review of the text yet, but it appears that all new rules is geared towards 4.0. In this edition you can only advance to the second level, while the original could advance to the third.

The nice thing about this is that have preserved the original design, including the artwork of Larry Elmore of the box.

The contents of the package includes two manuals, the player and dungeon master, power cards, and a map. While not the original, we should be in luck, because after 25 years the formula used by Gary Gigax and TSR at that time still working and Wizards in a false attack sentimentality wants to sell something new with old wrapping paper.

It is a pity that is not the authentic original.

Mausoleum

Mi nuevo proyecto es hacer un cementerio completo como escenografía para cualquier juego de fantasía y he empezado por un mausoleo, arriba se puede ver el comienzo del proyecto (haciendo los planos), y iré añadiendo nuevas fotos esta tarde, por ahora sólo dejo un par de ellas para que veáis como ha comenzado. La idea es hacerlo todo por partes para después sacar copias de todo mi trabajo, y desde luego lo pondré a la venta, que eso de estar desempleado me hace buscar alternativas legales para ganar dinero.
En la siguiente foto, he pasado los que son todas las paredes a cartón de cereales, para que actúan como soporte para todo lo demás que tengo que ir poniendo.

Y aquí todas las piezas recortadas, faltan las piezas de lo que será el tejado, pero he querido dejarlo al final y concentrarme en una de las parte que mas me gustan de este proyecto, las paredes de piedra, quería ver si podría simular bien la piedra usando poliestireno.

Aquí están los trozas de poliestireno ya cortados en tiras. Cada uno tengo que modelarlo para que den el aspecto de piedra. La cortarlo es bloques tan estrechos es más fácil hacer cada piedra por separado, si tienes las medidas necesarias.

Aquí ya están modeladas cada una de las piedras, aunque no están fijadas al cartón. Sólo están colocada para comprobar que todas tienen más o menos la misma longitud y que no me he pasado a la hora de cortar ni modelar.

A continuación las dos paredes laterales de los que será el mausoleo. Como se puede ver en la fotografía he arrancado trozos bastante grandes de cada una de las "piedras" de esa forma parece una construcción más antigua. La separación entre cada piedra es muy grande, pero está hecho así de forma deliberada, por que antes de seguir hay que darle una buena capa de cola blanca y esta rellenará las rendijas, y con arena fina parecerá la vieja argamasa que se uso para unir cada bloque.

Por ahora esto es todo, esta noche continuaré con este proyecto y mañana seguramente subiré más fotografías para que podáis seguir el proyecto.

My new project is to make a complete cementery to use it in any fantasy game and I have started a mausoleum, in the picture above, you can see the beginning of the project (doing plans) and will be adding new photos this afternoon, for now just leave a couple so you can see them as has begun. Here are the pieces of polystyrene and cut into strips. Every one I have to model it to give the appearance of stone. The cut is so narrow blocks is easier to make each stone separately, if you have the necessary measures.

Here are modeled and each of the rocks, but they are not fixed to the board. They are only placed to ensure that all have roughly the same length and I have not gone down in time to cut and modeled.

Then the two side walls of which is the mausoleum. As you can see in the picture I started fairly large pieces of each of the stones in this way seems an older building. The separation between each stone is very large, but it is done well so deliberated, that before going there to give a good coat of white glue and this will fill the cracks with sand and you get the old glue that was used to unite each block.

For now this is it, tonight I will continue with this project and am sure I will upload more pictures so you can follow the project.

Selling my D&D minis / Vendo mis minis de D&D

This entry is to tell you that I got for sale on Ebay a lot with some of the miniatures that I have of D&D.

The miniatures are those that were already painted and used with the miniatures rules or the D&D Basic game that Wizards took a few years ago.

The reason for making the sale is that I do not use, in fact I bought the game and I've used it only once in five years, so all the models that have been accumulating the drawing will go on sale. This time I got 11 lots, most of the series Aberrations, but you'd better put the links to the articles that you see (below spanish entry).

Esta miniaturas son aquellas que ya venían pintadas y se utilizaban con el reglamento de miniaturas o con el juego D&D Básico que sacó Wizards hace unos pocos años.

El motivo de ponerlas a la venta es que no las uso, de hecho compré el juego y lo he usado sólo una vez en cinco años, así que todas las miniaturas que he ido acumulando las iré sacando a la venta. Acabo de traducir las listas de ejército al español, así que ya están disponibles para su descarga. Por ahora los dos ficheros, las reglas y las listas de ejército estarán disponibles en sus entradas correspondientes del blog. Si Mantic me autoriza las traducciones (algo que será difícil) crearé una página en este blog para que sea más fácil su acceso. Pero por ahora se quedará como está.

My first steps / Mis primeros pasos

Living in Spain, especially in the 80s, it was very difficult for a guy my age then access to many things outside of these borders was very common. As in this case it was to play Dungeons & Dragons. It was the year 85 when an editorial called Dalmau Carles in Gerona (Spain), was published for the first time, and very quickly became known as the "Red Box" and many young people fell hopelessly in a wonderful world of fantasy. Then we identify Elliot playing with his brother while ET came to his shed, and found there were far more interesting ways of playing outside what was common at that time.

Unfortunately we could not enjoy this game enough, since TSR denied the possibility of the Spanish publishers to publish more titles, and so we led many to seek a solution outside of Spain. Looking for specialty game stores, and that his life had heard about it, until eventually some importers began to see that it was a good deal. Over time we could enjoy more levels and more adventures. Although the level of English that we had back then was bad ... no, very bad. But we managed.
Over time they appeared other RPGs, some better some worse, and many topics, but really interested me only the dragons and the deepest dungeons. It was then published the second edition of AD&D, in 1989. This came with a dropper and prices really abusive, but I made the great effort and buy the manuals needed to continue playing with my friends.

The last years of the '80s were years of discovery at all levels. The discovery of Warhammer Fantasy Battles on my part was in 1987, and fell into the world of miniatures, but that game did not quite like it. In 1989, I gathered enough money to buy the manuals of AD&D second edition, player handbook, Dungeon Master Handbook and Monster Compendium, but there was a new book, and he called both my attention that I could not resist, and was BattleSystem Miniatures Rules for AD&D Second Edition. And here began my downfall really.
And I discovered that undoing that not only I had fun playing, or preparing the items, because most of the time I was the Dungeon Master, I discovered that collecting and painting miniatures was not only fun, it was relaxing and very, very addictive . Miniatures had already bought before, many of Citadel for Dragons games, but seeing as I was captivated Battlesystem worked the game, and I started looking miniatures to play, and Ral-Partha then was the company that had acquired the rights for making D&D miniatures, so spiral since been incredible shopping, characters, Battlesystem brigades, monsters, and etc.

But this coincided with another hobby that I came more or less the same time, Warhammer Fantasy Battles did not like in his day, but I loved Warhammer 40,000, so I was obliged to share my efforts (especially monetary) between my two favorite games.
The moral of all this is to have between 16 and 18, and without economic resources is bad, very bad.

Looking back as I am doing now, not only fills me with nostalgia, I also feel proud that in choosing a hobby (which was expensive) and that I could develop as a person with imagination and dreams. But for now I will leave it here, and will continue tomorrow, not that my eyes fill with tears. :-)

Viviendo en España, sobre todo en los años 80, era muy complicado para un chaval de mi edad entonces acceder a muchas de las cosas que fuera de estas fronteras era muy común. Como en este caso lo era jugar a Dungeons & Dragons. Corría el año 85 cuando una editorial de Gerona llamada Dalmau Carles, lo publicó por primera vez, y en muy poco tiempo se llego a conocer como la "Caja Roja" y muchos jóvenes caímos sin remedio en un mundo maravilloso de fantasía. Entonces identificamos a que jugaba Elliot con su hermano mientras E.T. llegaba a su cobertizo, comprendimos de que iba aquella serie de animación, y descubrimos que había formas mucho más interesantes de jugar fuera de lo que era común en aquella época.
Por desgracia no pudimos disfrutar de este juego lo suficiente, puesto que TSR negó la posibilidad a la editorial española de publicar más títulos, y eso nos llevó a muchos a buscar la solución fuera de España. Buscando tiendas especializadas en juegos, y que en su vida habían oído hablar de ello, hasta que con el tiempo algunos importadores comenzaron a ver que era un buen negocio. Con el tiempo pudimos disfrutar de más niveles y más aventuras. Aunque el nivel del inglés que teníamos por aquel entonces era malo... no, malísimo. Pero nos las arreglamos.

Con el tiempo fueron apareciendo otros juegos de rol, unos mejores otros peores, y de muchísimas temáticas, pero en realidad a mi sólo me interesaban los dragones y las más profundas mazmorras. Fue entonces cuando se publicó la segunda edición de AD&D, en el año 1989. Aquí llegó con cuentagotas y a unos precios realmente abusivos, pero hice el gran esfuerzo y compre los manuales necesarios para poder seguir jugando con mis amigos.
Los últimos años de los 80 fueron años de descubrimiento a todos los niveles. El descubrimiento de Warhammer Fantasy Battles por mi parte fue en 1987, y caí en el mundo de las miniaturas, aunque ese juego no terminó de gustarme. En el año 1989, junté el dinero suficiente para comprar los manuales de AD&D second edition, player handbook, Dungeon Master Handbook and Monster Manual, pero había un libro nuevo, y que llamó tanto mi atención que no pude resistirme, y era BattleSystem Miniatures Rules para AD&D Second Edition. Y aquí empezó de verdad mi perdición.
Y digo perdición por que descubrí que no sólo jugando me lo pasaba bien, o preparando las partidas, porque la mayoría de las veces yo era el Dungeon Master, descubrí que coleccionar y pintar miniaturas no sólo era divertido, era relajante y muy, muy adictivo. Ya había comprado miniaturas antes, muchas de Citadel para las partidas de Dragones, pero al ver como funcionaba Battlesystem me quedé prendado del juego, y comencé a buscar miniaturas para jugar, y por aquel entonces Ral-Partha era la compañía que había adquirido los derechos para fabricar las miniaturas de D&D, por lo que desde entonces fue una espiral increíble de compras, personajes, brigadas para Battlesystem, monstruos, y un largo etc...
Pero todo esto coincidió con otra afición que me surgió más o menos al mismo tiempo, Warhammer Fantasy Battles no me gustó en su día, pero Warhammer 40,000 me encantó, así que me vi en la obligación de repartir mis esfuerzos (sobre todo monetarios) entre mis dos juegos favoritos.
La moraleja de todo esto, es que tener entre 16 y 18 años, y sin recursos económicos es malo, muy malo.

Mirando atrás como estoy haciendo ahora, no solo me llena de añoranza, también me hace sentir orgulloso de que al elegir una afición (que era cara) como esta, he podido desarrollarme como una persona con imaginación y con sueños. Pero por ahora voy a dejarlo aquí, ya continuaré mañana, no sea que se me llenen los ojos de lágrimas. :-)

Estas listas de ejercito aun están sin traducir (todavía no he tenido tiempo de ponerme con ellas) pero con la traducción del reglamento identificareis rápidamente cada cosa, sobre todo por que las abreviaturas de las estadísticas las he dejado en inglés para que sea más rápido.

This week I downloaded from the web page of Mantic the beta rules for the miniature game called Kings of War. This core rules was written by Alessio Cavatore, former GW employee (or the Evil Empire as it is called in many forums).The manual has 12 pages and in addition an appendix containing the army lists, at first glance it appears that in so short a space will do little to tell, but once you immerse yourself in reading you realize that part of their there is much more simple.There is a word that is not designed to explain how the game, only rules, are clear, direct and concise. There is no straw to remove. I've been testing it, making some battles at home on a small scale, and I loved it as intended, there are still things to polish, but has every appearance of being a great game.If you also see the models that are designed, it is very difficult not to fall in love with them, are miniature well proportioned and in great detail, so the combination can be spectacular.As I liked both the project, I take some time to translate the rules into Spanish, because many people I know who would like to try new games, but the language barrier makes it difficult to access them, and thinking of these people I spent a few hours (very willingly) to make life easier.

Esta semana me he descargado de la web de Mantic el reglamento en etapa beta de lo que será el juego de miniaturas llamado Kings of War. este reglamento ha sido escrito por Alessio Cavatore, ex-empleado de Games Workshop (o el Imperio Maligno como lo llaman en muchos foros).
El manual tiene 12 páginas y aparte un apéndice con las listas de ejército, a primera vista parece que en tan poco espacio va a ver pocas cosas que contar, pero una vez que se sumerges en la lectura te das cuenta de que a parte de su sencillez hay mucho más. No hay una sola palabra que no esté destinada a explicar el funcionamiento del juego, sólo son reglas, claras, directas y concisas. No hay paja que poder quitar. He estado probándolo, haciendo algunas batallas en casa a pequeña escala, y me ha encantado como está diseñado, aun quedan cosas por pulir pero tiene todo el aspecto de ser un gran juego.
Si además ves las miniaturas que se han diseñado, es muy difícil no enamorarse de ellas, son miniaturas bien proporcionadas y con mucho detalle, así que la combinación puede ser espectacular.
Como me ha gustado tanto el proyecto, he aprovechado unos ratos libres para traducir el reglamento al español, porque hay mucha gente que conozco que le gustaría probar juegos nuevos, pero el problema del idioma les dificulta acceder a ellos, y pensando en esas personas he gastado unas cuantas horas (de muy buena gana) en facilitarles la vida.

Tonight I opened this new blog to start a new trip into fantasy. I stayed apart from fantasy to much time ago, and now is the time to return. Until now, I worked on a blog based on one of my hobbies, that is Warhammer 40,000, but I feel that my real hobbie is the fantasy worlds like AD&D and successors like D&D 3.0 and 3.5. I don't want to think nothing about 4.0, because I think is a fucking shit!.
Years ago, not to much I started to create a new fantasy world to play with D&D, I play it with my friends, but the lack of time, and the changes in the core rulebook killed my enthusiasm, and the problems with my web host forced my to abandon the proyect in a box. Like my other hobbies during the last year they are coming to me again, with strenght and new ideas.
But, I think it's not a new start point, I created this blog to show you my re-discover of the fantasy and tell the things I like and the things I dislike. Also I will show you the things I like to do with the fantasy games.
My first question was, in what language I write this blog? In the end I decided to write in both English and Spanish, and I hope it remains a long time.

Esta noche he abierto este nuevo blog para comenzar un nuevo viaje a la fantasia. He permanecido apartado de la fantasía durante mucho tiempo, y creo que ahora es el momento de volver. Hasta ahora, he trabajado en un blog basado en una de mis aficiones, que es Warhammer 40,000, pero siento que mi autentica afición son los mundos de fantasía como AD&D y sus sucesores como D&D 3.0 y 3.5. No quiero pensar nada sobre 4.0, porque creo que es una ¡jodida mierda!
Hace años, no muchos, comencé a crear un nuevo mundo de fantasía para jugarlo con D&D. Lo he jugado con mis amigos, pero la falta de tiempo, y los cambios en los manuales mataron mi entusiasmo, y los problemas con mi proveedor web me forzaron a guardar en proyecto en un cajón. Como mis otros hobbies, durante el último año están volviendo, con fuerza y nuevas ideas.
Pero, Pienso que esto no es un nuevo punto de partida, he creado este blog para mostrate mi re-descubrimiento de la fantasía y contarte que son las cosas que me gustan y las que no. Enseñarte las cosas que me gusta hacer con los juegos de fantasía.
Mi primera duda era, ¿en que idioma escribo este blog? Al final he decidido escribirlo tanto en inglés como en español, y espero que así se mantenga mucho tiempo.
