The Hog is Back...Again!

Dave and the Hog made the long awaited return to South Buxton this past weekend, with a new engine and a renewed enthusiasm. The heat and feature races allowed the Bacon Boy crew to shake down the new engine and give them a starting point for the fine tuning needed for next weeks races. See you all there!

The Hog is back!

After a less than stellar performance in its first outing, the Hog has regained some of its much needed power. The new engine, which the week before was sluggish and unresponsive, was described by Dave as having "improved" significantly. He praised Kevin and the rest of the crew for their work setting up the new engine. This week saw Dave place a respectable 6th place in the crowded feature race. As Joe put it, "Dave has his mojo back", describing Dave's much more aggressive driving style.

The Hog Blew it!

The Bacon Boys Crew has their work cut out for them this week after the Hog's engine blew during Dave's first lap of heat #1. The damage was described by one of the boys as "a two inch hole through the oil pan". While I am not a mechanic, that is probably not good. Work is already underway to get the Hog ready for next week. Good Luck Bacon Boys!

Saturday's race conditions proved to be a challenge to all racers in all classes. The wet, sticky track of the past two races was replaced by a dry, slick surface, which produced a great number of spin outs and accidents. While Dave used his heat race to get used to these new conditions, the extended, 25 lap feature saw Dave navigate through the many accidents. He not only survived, but placed in the top 5. Kudos to the Bacon Boys crew for keeping the Hog running in fine form.

Dave places third in heat

Dave's second race night has been another success! While the muddy track and the foggy skies made racing challenging, Dave posted his best results yet; coming from the back of the pack to place third and nearly hanging on to first place in the Australian pursuit race. The foggy driving conditions, which caused the cancellation of the following feature races, contributed to Dave mixing it up with another driver during the pursuit, causing both of them to spin out. While the other driver's father felt it necessary to punish Dave's rear body fender with his boot, Dave and the Bacon Boys crew kept things cool and professional. Next week's race is sure to be very interesting.

Due to weather concerns, Dave's first race of the season has been postponed. This will give the BaconBoys extra time to tinker with the Hog. Thanks to all those who were to attend tonights race. We hope to see you there next week.

Practice Day Cancelled. First Race of Season This Saturday

Even though the weather didn't cooperate, the Bacon Boys were able to do a support test run; loading, hauling and unloading the Hog. Special thanks to Julie for the great breakfast and for driving the chase vehicle.

The first race of the season will be Saturday May 8th at the South Buxton Raceway starting at 7 p.m. The gates open at 5:30 p.m. A special door prize draw will be held for all David Bacon fans in attendance. See one of the Bacon Boys at the race for details.

Update - Racing Team - From Our Driver Dave

Here is an update from our Driver;

Hey Everyone!

Joe, Phil, Kevin, and I successfully replaced the old starter with one of the spare starters that came with the car. The testing and installation was flawless. The car even started on first crank!

Next week sanding off the old paint.

Stay tune for video`s from this weeks action.

Only 14 weeks until test and tune day!!!!

Bacon Boys Name Change

The recent poll results are in and it is obvious that the Bacon Boys either have no sense of humor at all or are so afraid of their wives that they wouldn't want to take the chance and choose (the obvious point of the poll) Julie as the best wife, considering that she just supported Dave in his purchase of a RACE CAR and letting him redo his garage so that the Bacon Boys could have a warm place to go in the winter and be able to work on his RACE CAR. The Bacon Boys of course wouldn't want to be caught encouraging Julie's wonderful behaviour, just in case it would create possible negative consequences at home.

Therefore, considering the results of our last poll, the Bacon Boys executive committee has decided to run a further poll in order to clarify who we really are. Please vote today!

Dave Buys a Race Car

Dave makes all of his uncles very happy with the acquisition of a race-ready Comp4 race car. As a sign of gratitude, the Bacon Boys have all agreed to grow mullets. See you in the pits at South Buxton Raceway in 2010!

Hey from the BaconBoys!!

Hope everyone is gearing up for a great fishing season!

Just a reminder to all those who use a boat in Canada that all boat operators "REQUIRE" their Pleasure Craft Operator Card this year! (by September 15th 2009) There is no grandfather clause and no minimum age to get the card.
This federal law applies to all Canadians, no matter your age, the length of your boat or the size of your engine.

So to the BaconBoys who have yet to get thier licence, hurry up... Unless you want Brad to be the Captain the entire Sept fishing trip!!!
