Christy Candida from Instructables has posted her instructions on how to make her delicious bacon fruit salad. I’m a life-long fruit fan, and it pairs wonderfully with bacon. I can’t wait to try out the recipe.

She also brought these super-cool lazer cut bacon stencils to BaconCamp and sprinkled some magical bacon dust on them. Yum!

We haven’t figured out all the logistics yet but a professional butcher from Cambridge, MA might be coming out to do a demonstration of how to cut up a pig. Don’t worry, it’ll already be dead. I know not everyone will be keen on this (although I love to understand where my food comes from and how it is handled), so I think we’ll do it at the beginning or the end of the event.

I got the official word today that bacon camp will be benefiting the San Francisco food bank. Since our event will undoubtedly involve overindulgence of delicious foods, it’s good to remind ourselves that there are many who are far less fortunate. The SFFB provide food to over 23,500 households each week, delivering 39 million pounds of food a year. For every $1 donated, the Food Bank will distribute $6 worth of food to those in need.

They are a fantastic organization and I am super excited that we can help them help others.
