Ayesha Takia biography
Personal lifeAyesha Takia was born on April 10, 1980 and grew up in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She comes from a mixed family. Her father, Nishit, is Gujarati, and her mother, Faridah, is half British and half Maharashtrian, an Anglo-Indian Muslim. Takia went to St. Anthony’s High School, but never went to college because she started to work when she turned sixteen. Her father interacts with her producers and handles her dates. She has a younger sister named Natasha born on February 5, 1988.

Ayesha dated Ashmit Patel for a short period but broke up after their MMS clip was released .
Her favorite actors from childhood are Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan and her favorite actresses are Sridevi and Rani Mukherji. She finds that there are many good directors but she has always liked Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Career
She appeared in the famous I am a Complan Boy! I’m a Complan Girl! campaign alongside Shahid Kapoor and also in a music video, Falguni Pathak’s Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye, when she was fifteen. She then appeared in the video, Shake It Daddy, when she was sixteen, which brought her to the attention of the movie industry, and a few film offers followed. She signed a contract for Socha Na Tha, then for Taarzan: The Wonder Car. However, delays in making Socha Na Tha meant that Taarzan released first and was therefore her “debut” film. She won the Filmfare Best Debut Award in 2004 for her performance in Taarzan: The Wonder Car.
She has appeared in a number of films that have done poorly at the box office. However, she has been highly praised for her work in the 2006 Dor, a smaller budget film in which she plays the role of a young widowed Rajasthani woman living in a traditional joint family. She went on to win several awards for her performance in the film Dor, including the Zee Cine Critics Award for Best Actress.

Akhtar won’t respond to Sachin

86680 Views699 Comments

I wanted to be known, recognised: Akhtar

After kicking the hornet's nest with sensational claims in his autobiography 'Controversially Yours', former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar didn't shy away from raising a new controversy when he said that 'it is beyond his dignity to respond to Sachin's snub.'
How To Sell A Cricket Book
In an interview with NewsX, the pacer took on Pakistan Cricket Board and Wasim Akram once again. He also clarified why Tendulkar was scared of him during the Faisalabad Test.

"Tendulkar was suffering from tennis elbow during that time and was having difficulty holding his bat (pulling), so we decided to target his head and get him out. We wanted to scare him off with barrage of bouncers. And I felt - that particular day - Sachin was scared, he was uncomfortable against me," Akhtar said.

Shoaib also maintained his stand that Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid were not match-winners - atleast when he was around.
The speedster lashed out at PCB chairman Ijaz Butt, calling him a mad man. The pacer said "Ijaz Butt handled the match-fixing issue very badly, he just can't think straight. He has made Pakistan cricket a joke."
Following criticism of Akhtar's remarks, Butt expressed concern that cricket ties between both boards could be strained. However, BCCI re-assured the PCB tat Akhtar's jibe will not affect the renewal of Pakistan-India cricket ties.
On Wasim Akram, the pace bowler said it was not him but others in the team who did not want to play under him. "Though I respected Akram as a bowler, he was abusive and had bad attitude," Akhtar added.
Akram earlier said that no one but the 'Rawalpindi Express' himself was responsible for the setbacks in his career. "I know, Shoaib knows and the entire world knows that he himself is responsible for destroying his career. Nobody helped him (in destroying his career)."
Union minister and Mumbai Cricket Association president Vilasrao Deshmukh said that Shoaib Akhtar should apologise to Sachin Tendulkar for his controversial claims.
A promotional event of Akhtar's book launch scheduled to be held today in Mumbai was called off because of the adverse reaction to his unflattering remarks against top Indian players in his tell-all autobiography. Bangalore has also said no to his book launch, which was supposed to take place on Tuesday.

Paris Hilton: Famous for being famous?

Our OTT coverage of PH in Mumbai is still on. Why we are treating her like visiting royalty, remains a mystery . Agreed, she's fun and glam.Hamarey liye yehi bahut kaafi hai, it appears. The lady turned up for a party in her honour at 1 30 a.m. when the invite read 9 p.m. Did guests leave or crib? Naaah. She made up for it by dancing on sofas with our local glam gals and blowing kisses from the dj console. Swwweeeeet or what????

This appeared in Bombay Times today....

Paris: the Candyfloss Party Girl….

Paris is a social phenomenon. Rather, she was one. Paris is sort of over and so past tense in the West … but that doesn’t matter to us, here in India. So long as the person is blond, cute, sexy and considered ‘hot’ by a handful of socialites and fashionistas, everybody will flock!Good for Team Paris. Paris is no bimbette. She is smart and on the ball. Paris is primarily a businesswoman who shrewdly cashes in on her brand equity, which is fast losing its value in her original markets. Which is why she goes to China these days to flog her products.Which is why she came to India. Which is why she’ll go to Africa. These are the only markets left for fading celebs, and frankly, it’s a clever move.We provide a huge dumping ground to them. Whether it is her or her managers, they shrewdly picked a suburban mall to off load her handbags. The price points are ridiculously low, even by desi standards. So, the marketing team is obviously hoping to woo buyers who are happy enough to settle for a foreign label, even if they’d never heard of Paris Hilton till last week!Ironically, the supposed A-listers who made it to the ‘Paris Party’ wouldn’t be caught dead with one of her bags! That’s what sharp marketing is all about! And Paris sure as hell knows a trick or two in that department. She is hugely photogenic and has made a career just out of being photographed jetting from one party to another (she gets paid serious money to party with strangers). She has given everything a shot – singing ( critics claimed it wasn’t her voice in the first place!). Acting (that’s a laugh, since her worldwide notoriety comes from a sex video called ‘A Night in Paris’). Hosting reality shows in which she, the richie rich girl about town is exposed to the lives of poor people, and surprise, surprise, she survives!!
The Hilton surname does not hold much of a cache these days. That leaves Paris with her catchy first name. She should be eternally grateful to her mother for that ( the second option was China). The girl knows her P.R. as was evident in Mumbai, where she went the whole hog doing her ‘Namastey Mumbai’ act, and talking about her love for sarees, bindis and all things Indian. Then there were the standard clichés about India being a ‘magical’ and ‘spiritual’ place. We lapped it all up and begged for more, as chefs gushed about the 60 dishes that been prepared for her (does she eat?), and designers fell over backwards to offer free clothes. All this, for a woman who has no known talent ( she isn’t Lady Gaga, for God’s sake), and appears dangerously plastic. So what? We need our distractions, especially those that come packaged in baby pink. Welcome to India, Paris-ji. And don’t forget to courier a handbag to India’s number one Bag Lady, Mayawati.

Why is the audience referring to ‘Mausam’ as a case of slow poisoning? Is it really that awful?

DAY 1256

Jalsa , Mumbai Sept 26/27 , 2011 Mon/ Tue 12: 21 AM
Children are the joy of our lives .. they are the ultimate happiness in this world .. and I have spent an entire day in that happiness today .. I shot an ad., for FORCE Motors at Karjat a few hours drive away from Mumbai at the BIG ND Studios, built by the great Nitin Desai an art director who came up from most humble beginnings to today, have the luxury of a vast studio spread over acres and acres of land.
The kids that we imagine of today are indeed not from our hemisphere, they come from some other planet. They are here with us pretending as normal humans, but they are indeed aliens with the superiority that none of us shall be able to comprehend or master !!
Most of the day has been spent locked inside this SUV Force 1 which I am brand ambassador for, dealing and keeping myself entertained by 6 of the most precocious children I have ever come across lately. From the latest gossip in tinseltown to the politicotown thet are aware of all. They have an opinion of their own, they have reasonable arguments supporting their views and when in doubt, reflect back to their parents and their beliefs on issues as serious as what the future of the country shall be.
From the care and consciousness needed for the environment of the region to the reasons for the failure of certain films, they have it all … pat ! Confident and relaxed, they do not have a care in the world. And one wishes desperately that they would ever remain so.
They have dialogues of favorite films at the tips of their tongues. They have an entire episode learnt with the expressions in place and the winning answers. And they have their own interpretation on the popular issue of corruption in the country and what needs to be done to cure it.
In the middle of all this, they are diligently following instructions on how they need to act when the camera starts moving, and never make a mistake !! I mean … who are these kids and how and where have they suddenly come from !!
They know their Bugatti’s and Lamborghini and their Ferrari … they know the 2G issues and the present news items that ‘break news’. And apart from all this, while you try to assimilate all that they have to state, they shall suddenly test you with the most simple yet complicated question to answer !!
I shall not deliberately enumerate the moment of the questioning, for, embarrassment is certainly not a trait that I take seriously to. And suddenly as this concoction of six belts out event after event, question and opinion after opinion for me to digest, one of them of 10 shall turn to me in that same child demeanor and inform me that his brother was a great fan of mine ..
” He saw every film of yours, Uncle. And now that I am acting in films he wanted me to arrange a meeting with you. But .. you know when the Opera House blast happened, he was going up the lift in the building on a non working day and he dead now ! I miss him very much !”
A moment of sudden silence …
And then as though nothing had happened, he starts his antics with the other 5 seated along with him in the SUV … playful, mischievous and so lovable with his method of speaking.
” Will you get me a role in a YashRaj Film .. I will give you the DVD of my film ‘Chillar Party’ .. if you tell Yash Chopra, he is a friend of yours, he will give me a role in his film.”
And then immediately back to pushing and shoving and pulling with the others .. ! I mean who are these guys ? They are not normal ..
But the child’s abnormality is his or her cutest factor .. it is the closest they shall ever get to being normal. May they ever remain so !!
I rest now, as I would for the next two days to repair my chest and rib .. Shekhar Kapoor shot the commercial today and it was wonderful catching up on old times with him ..
Sleep well dearest ones .. I shall too provided you do too ..

Jalsa , Mumbai Sept 25/26 , 2011 Sun/Mon 12:19 AM

Happy Rosh Hashanah .. a time to seek love and peace and togetherness, to forgive, to understand, to be compassionate and to acknowledge the beliefs of one another ..!!
Vikas Agarwal .. your birthday tomorrow, well today actually, and so wishing you all the best ..
But a day of Sunday of rest and recouping did in fact give opportunity to recover lost sleep and ground for repair on the rib and the hairline fracture …
The morning was spent in mourning and visiting the house of Surinder Kapoor, Anil and Boney Kapoor’s father’s place to be present before they performed the last rites. Such moments bring sorrow to those that are directly affected. Such moments bring sorrow too to those that witness, for, in each of us there lies a story and a visual of an event that was more personal to you and involved your own loved one. Visions of the moment when your own loved and dear were in similar state and condition. And it is disturbing. The more you wish to remain away from it, the more it chases you and never does allow to be a part of that. The immediate wish and desire is to shy away, to not face it, to not allow it to take you along with it. But it does. And it does become difficult. The pain of such suffering is immense. But it is a pertinent reminder that no one shall be able to get away from this reality.
The wife is back after spending time with the children and grandchildren and full of delightful stories of them and their mischief. Grand parents live for such moments in life. We are no different.
But after the rest and the Sunday crowds, a visit to a function for the competition on body building by athletes from all over the world. And goodness … they are unreal these gentlemen and … women ! Its like seeing one of those hand painted structures of the human body, where every aspect and muscle is enhanced for better look. But here it is reality. No hand painted or structured abstract figures, its the real stuff, the real McCoy. Just so incredible !!
A quick exit from here to be at an Award ceremony for Television .. the ITA and 2 awards for me - an award for ultimate excellence through the years, and the other for best anchor for KBC. Some short speeches later back home to contemplate what needs to be done on the blog and on the twitter and how to convey and conduct what would be of interest for you …
What really is of interest for you ? I have often wondered. My routine of the day the work and its consequences ? Or my opinion on certain matters local and general ?
I find it most amusing how, particularly on twitter, the level of questioning is rather unique. Its almost like, at times, a reprimand or an assessment of your act or deed, done or undone, is dictated to you. Many shy away from it. They are not in the business of wanting to hear the negative or the undesired. But on a virtual platform, that exists and invites comment, it will not be possible to hear good all the time. Also it would be unfair to expect such activity. We are not all good all the time. Neither are we all bad all the time. A healthy mix of the good with the bad would do nicely. But one would have to have the courage to bear the adverse, to not allow it to cause disturbance, but instead to learn what needs to be kept or what destroyed. Many a time I find that even in the adverse their is an element that teaches me and that coerces me to accept it with the intention and hope that I shall benefit from it. Better do you not think … !!??
Its an early call tomorrow .. to far away place away from Mumbai … driving distance but away, and so it would need to get on to the road and beat the morning traffic, soon enough ..
Doing a commercial for FORCE Motors and the SUV that I had launched some days ago…
Good night then and sweet dreams … as always ..

Being Salman Khan = Being The Biggest Brand of Bollywood

Bollywood Big Story is back again debating the most talked about Bollywood Superstar, Salman Khan. Only Salman Khan can generate the kind of euphoria,
madness, passion, debates and fan following hitherto seen only with Rajnikant. The words style guru, trend setter, cool dude, heartthrob rest easily with
Khan. His fans swear by him, giving him God-like status. His benevolence only add to his connect with the masses at large.

ZoOm poses the question, has ‘Brand Salman’ become invincible? It was said that only Sex and Shahrukh sell, but now it seems, only sex and Shahrukh may not
sell, but Salman definitely sells, everything and everyone else is governed by the laws of nature, but not Salman Khan. Today’s generation doesn’t
necessarily look for a meaningful song or a good story, all they want is something that vibes with them. Salman Khan has become one such commodity or a
brand, and can be sold at anytime and anywhere and in any packaging. The association of a brand name like Salman Khan with any movie does not really require
any other endorsement.

The big names of the industry agree on it to an extent.

Farhan Akhtar feels, “Salman’s stardom comes from the love that his audience has for him and eventually his work. It’s a great time for him; people who are
working with him should enjoy themselves and not really worry about what’s going to happen next.”

Aamir Khan says that “Salman has proved that he’s no. 1 and has left all of us behind. Salman’s stardom is huge right now and none of us even come close to
him.”

Salman’s take on himself becoming the no.1 brand that sells – “When it comes to making a choice about whether I want to do a film, I put myself in the shoes
of the audience. I only do films that I would like to watch. I think right now my choice matches with that of the Indian audience.”

What do our analysts have to say more about the ‘Being Salman Khan’?
