Sinusitis or sinus infection is an infection of the respiratory tract, ears and mouth. Among the common sinus infection symptoms are sneezing in the morning, running nose, fever and `sinus headaches'. One of the main causes is stemmed from the wrong eating habits.

Sinusitis can cause bad breath, sneezing, facial acne, itching and swelling of the nose, mouth and ears. While more severe symptoms are pus in the ear and nose (the damage in the nasal socket).

The common cold or URTI (Upper Respiratory Tract Infection) is a mild infection, usually viral. The symptoms are mild fever, muscle and joint pain, nasal congestion, runny nasal liquid (a crystal-clear nasal liquid or translucent such as water), cough and sore throat. Body temperature is below than 38 degree celcius.

Sinusitis, however is an infection by bacteria. It is subdivided into acute and chronic sinus infections (a prolonged, which is longer than 6 weeks). For acute sinus infection, the body temperature normally of over 38 degree celcius. Normal sinus infection symptoms are the pain in the cheeks or forehead, nasal congestion, nasal secretions become yellowish or greenish with phlegm coughing and nasal discharge was flowing into the back of the throat.

For the chronic sinus infection, the presence remain the same of an acute but relatively with minimal symptoms. What is Sinus?

Conventional treatment is surgical endoscopy using cold instruments for mucus or sinus drainage and it is effective and popular.
Balloon sinuplasty is a new endoscopic technique to enlarge the pores and drain out pus or sinus congestion. It is a relatively new technique used by physicians for sinus drainage but rapidly becoming popular nowadays.
