Just as Avengers excitement hits overdrive Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises breaks out a new trailer that reveals tons more story and a nice introduction for Catwoman.

The new somewhat eerie trailer for Batman the Dark Knight Rises starts calm and builds to a storm as it gives us a hint at what to expect from the epic conclusion to Christopher Nolan’s Batman Trilogy.  This trailer has got it all, the calm before the storm, the introduction of Catwoman, the introduction of Bane, a broken Bat, a city in ruins and then a Dark Knight risen as the Bat plane soars into the sky as Batman starts his battle to take back Gotham.

Points of interest from the trailer:

• Joseph Gordon-Levitt asking “Did they kill him” perhaps suggesting that he may know more about Bruce Wayne or Batman than a normal Gotham Cop
• Catwoman clearly taking up the good fight after a shady character introduction
• Less Batman and more Bruce Wayne and supporting characters, which is not surprising if like the Knightfall story line Bane does indeed break the Bat.

The long awaited and much postponed Venom film is currently under negotiations for a Director and leading the race is the Director of ‘Chronicle’ Josh Trank.

You may or may not remember but shortly after Spider-man 3 was released and before Spider-man 4 was canned there was talk of a spin off film with one of Spider Man’s deadliest and most iconic foes, Venom.  Back then Gary Ross (Director of the Hunger Games) was set to take charge and even started penning a script, unfortunately for Venom Sony decided went with the Reboot of the Spider-man franchise in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man film and Venom fell by the wayside.

Well a few years later and we now have word that Venom is back in the picture and is now seeking a Director to move onto the next stage, leading the charge to Direct the film is none other than Josh Trank who has recently helmed ‘Chronicle’ a surprise hit this year, about three kids who gain super powers.  Although very different from your standard super hero movie Chronicle demonstrates that Trank has the ability to successfully translate the superhero theme into a realistic film setting.

For those unfamiliar Venom was one of Spider-Man’s biggest and most loved foes and as a fan favourite has since developed into much of the anti-hero with his own range of comic books and graphic novels. We will keep you posted on Venom film updates as they appear.

The first trailer for the upcoming Assassin’s creed 3 has hit the web, along with a new protagonist and a release date.

The internet has been rife with rumours and leaked images over the past week hinting at a new Assassins creed game and now the first trailer has been released courtesy of developers Ubisoft.  The trailer jumps through time from ‘Revelations’ to the American Revolution, as our Assassin stalks the wilderness of America in Mohawk Valley, this would also be a good time to point out that Ezio has also been left in past and we now have a new hero, a warrior of American and English heritage called Ratohnhaké:ton, also knows as Connor.

Assasins Creed 3 will span take part during the American Revolution, with action spanning from the wilderness of the frontier to the bustling towns of a George Washington America.  All though details are still sketchy at this stage, it has been confirmed that new features will include an improvement in its combat system with the addition of more sophisticated dual wielding of weapons, with Connor sporting a trademark dagger and tomahawk.

Assasins Creed 3 release date will be October 31st 2012 on PS3, Xbox 360, PC and also the upcoming Wii U console.  The Wii U is set to launch later this year and Assassins Creed 3 will be a good initial test to prove the platforms strengths against its competitors.

Filming for Game of Thrones season 2 is well under way and with new castings announced weekly we thought wed give you a run down of all the Game of Thrones season 2 castings.  The second season which is based on the book ‘A Clash of Kings’ far expands the world of Ice and Fire with many new characters, so lets meet the new faces of A Game of Thrones Season 2.

Stannis Baratheon Casting: Stephen Dillane

Stannis Baratheon is Lord of Dragonstone, the small island off the coast of Kings Landing.  Stannis is King Robert’s and Renly’s brother, older brother to Renly yet younger than the dead King Robert.  Although Stannis was referred to in the first season he did not feature, however his part will significantly increase for the second season.  Stannis casting is the actor Stephen Dillane who is known for his roles in King Arthur and Spy Game.

Davos Seaworth Casting: actor Liam Cunningham

Liam Cunningham has been cast as and will be playing Davos Seaworth in season 2 of Game of Thrones.  Also known as the Onion Knight, the ex smuggler and lowly born Davos was knighted by Stannis when he smuggled food to the besieged Stannis Baratheon.  Cunningham has previously starred in Clash of the Titans and Camelot.

Melisandre Casting: actress Carice Van Houten

The Foreign priestess and sorceress, Melisandre resides at Dragonstone in the service of Stannis.  Also known as the Red priestess Melisandre worships the god R’hllor and has the ear of Stannis and a strong influence on his wife. Melisandre will be played by Carice Van Houten who you may remember from films such as Valkyrie and Black Book.

Balon Greyjoy Casting – actor Patrick Malahide

British actor Patrick Malahide has been cast as Balon Greyjoy, Lord of the Iron islands and father to Ned Starks ward Theon Greyjoy who was taken following Balon’s uprising and subsequent defeat by Robert Barratheon and Eddard Stark.  A hard and stern man who will play a large part in the Game of Thrones 2nd Season.  Patrick Malahide has previously starred in films such as The Long Kiss Goodnight, Billy Elliot and The world is not Enough.

Dagmer Cleftjaw casting – actor Ralph Ineson

Dagmer Cleftjaw also known as ‘The Cleftjaw’ is master-at-arms at Pyke of the Iron Islands for Balon Greyjoy and Captains the ship known as Foamdrinker.  As a child Dagmer was struck with a long Axe that smashed his jaw and teeth sliced through his lips and left him horribly disfigured. Dagmer Cleftjaw has been cast by Ralph Ineson who is known for his work as ‘Finchy’ on the UK’s Office and has also starred in Harry Potter and Merlin.

Hallyne the Pyromaner casting – actor Roy Dotrice

Hallyne the Pyromancer is head of the guild of alchemists and resides at King’s Landing.  Hallyne is in charge of Wildfire at Kings Landing as is often frustrated by the decrease in importance of the alchemists guild since the fall of the mad king Aery’s Targaryen.  Roy Dotrice has been cast as Hallyne, and has starred in films such as Hellboy 2 and Amadeus.

Margaery Tyrell casting – actress Natalie Dormer

Margaery Tyrell is the only daughter to Mace Tyrell  Lord of Highgarden, Margaery married Renly Baratheon at the end of a Game of Thrones in an attempt to support Renly’s claim for the Iron throne.  Margaery Tyrell will be played by Natalie Dormer from Captain America: The First Avenger and TV series The Tudor.

Marvel has been releasing teaser images for the upcoming X-Men Regenesis revamp of the X books following the events of Schism with some revamped comics and some old faces.

X-Men Regenesis will follow the aftermath of the Schism storyline that sees a huge rift in the X-Men team with Wolverine and Cyclops turning on each other, this is where the battle line will be drawn as all the remaining heroes choose their sides and who they are most loyal too.  The X-Men Regenesis teasers take a look the covers of future titles from the X-Men and give us a sneak peak at the state of the books post Schism, it also lets us know that the Wolverine and the X-Men and Uncanny X-Men titles will be relaunched at #1.  What’s also interesting is the two distinctive Yellow and Blue colours that could suggest different allegiances in each title, check them out.

The post Schism Uncanny X-Force reveals that Nightcrawler will be joining the covert team and by looks of the image here it will be the age of Apocalypse incarnation rather than the recently deceased normal reality Kurt.  Also by the looks of the silhouettes the Regenesis Nightcrawler will be joined by Psylocke, Deadpool and Fantomex.

Joint directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor introduce the first Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance trailer with an updated and awesome looking Ghost Rider.

With very little information or announcements about the upcoming sequel to the original and somewhat disappointing first film outing for Marvel comic book superhero Johnny Blaze this trailer comes somewhat out of the blue.  Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance is being directed by both Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor the directing duo that brought us movies such as ‘Crank’ and the role of Johnny Blaze the Ghost Rider is again being played by Nicholas Cage (apparently long-time Ghost Rider fan).  Check it out:

The trailer, although looking pretty badass doesn’t really give away much plot detail but definitely oozes a slicker and more stylised outing for Ghost Rider than the original. What we do know however and which can be confirmed by the rather pasty looking evil doer towards the end of the trailer is that Ghost Rider 2 will feature long time villain Blackout, who aswell as superhuman strength and speed has the power to dampen light sources in the area.

The latest trailer for Batman Arkham City, the sequel to the hugely successful Batman Arkham Asylum sees The Dark Knight square off against Mr Freeze.

The trailer introduces Mr Freeze as another villain for the video game series that will be hitting shelves in October later this year.  Freeze joins the ranks of Bat villains that include Dr Hugo Strange, The Riddler, The penguin, Two Face and of course The Joker. Check him out:

Batman Arkham City follows on from the previous game, with the current state of the asylum the slums of Gotham are modified to be used a prison to house the inmates of Arkham Asylum, with the perimeter patrolled by a group of mercenaries the inmates are free to roam the streets of Arkham City

Are we going to see Batman’s BatWing in the upcoming Batman film The Dark Knight Rises?  Check these images out and make up your own mind.

Set Photos from the Dark Knight Rises of a strange aircraft like vehicle have surfaced online that could indeed be the Christopher Nolan’s envision of Batman’s BatWing.  If this is indeed the BatWing then it is worlds apart from any previous incarnations of the craft in the previous Batman movies (which is a damn good thing).  In Christopher Nolan’s Bat world we have seen vehicles like the Batmobile and the Batbike recreated in an altogether more realistic and a whole lot more practical fashion, for example the Tumbler, with this in mind taking a look at the following images I can definitely see similarities in the style and wouldn’t be surprised if this turned out to be a very practical version of the BatWing.

These shots come as just one of many on set photos of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises leaked to the media from opportunist passers by, so far we’ve seen Bane’s full costume, a camouflaged Tumbler used by mercenaries, Marion Cotillard as what seems to be Talia Al Ghul and even Catwoman on the Batbike.  There has been much disappointment aired over some of these images most prominently the final look of Bane, but do consider that any images taken from onset are not how Nolan would have wanted us to see these things and which could still be the subject of added special effects and lighting techniques.

The first image of Henry Cavill as Superman in Zack Snyder’s reboot, Superman Man of Steel  has been officially released by Legendary Pictures and Warner Brothers.

There is always going to be mixed feelings over superhero costumes when they go through the process from comic book to film as bright blue skin-tight spandex isn’t always a good look in reality, but judging by this first image of the Man of Steel Henry Cavill is looking pretty darn cool as Superman.  The blue spandex has been dulled down into an obsidian almost carbon fibre texture while still keeping the superman look and feel.  While the image itself looks like its been heavily stylised with an air of 300 style (Snyder’s earlier film).

The only details of the story that we have so far are that Superman Man of Steel will focus on the rise of Superman from his early days as Clark Kent and will feature the kryptonian villains General Zod and Faora.  Alongside Henry Cavill as Superman the big cast will feature Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as Martha and Jonathan Kent, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Antje Traue as his evil partner Faora and Russell Crowe as Superman’s father Jor-El.

Superman Man of Steel is due out in June 2013 and we will bring you more updates as they are released.
