Willis McGahee knee injury

In the early part of the fourth quarter during the 2003 Fiesta Bowl National Championship Game, McGahee suffered an injury after catching a screen pass from Dorsey. He was immediately hit by Buckeye safety Will Allen, bending his left knee backwards and causing tears of the ACL, PCL, and MCL. Prior to getting hurt, he had rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown, as Miami would lose the game in double-overtime, 31–24. This injury required several surgeries and extensive rehabilitation before he would be able to play again. At the season’s end, McGahee announced he would not collect on a $2.5 million insurance policy he had taken out before the Championship game, and therefore would enter the 2003 NFL Draft.

Theismann’s career ended on November 18, 1985 when he suffered a comminuted compound fracture of his leg while being sacked by New York Giants linebackers Lawrence Taylor and Harry Carson during a Monday Night Football game telecast. The injury was voted the NFL’s “Most Shocking Moment in History” by viewers in an ESPN poll, and the tackle was dubbed “The Hit That No One Who Saw It Can Ever Forget” by The Washington Post.

Bouaouzan sick leg breaking tackle

A serious tackle by the Dutchman Rachid Bouaouzan from second division side Sparta Rotterdam.

The 21-year-old tackles his opponent Niels Kokmeijer of the Go Ahead Eagles so brutally, that he suffered a double broken leg which threatens his career. The Dutch association banned Bouaouzan for twelve games.

The case is going to court, where Bouaouzan risk for assault a prison sentence of up to eight years.

In a Croatian football match on 29th March 2008, Zadar player Hrvoje Custic, hits his head off a concrete wall in fourth minute of the game. The injuries sustained were fatal and regretfully he passed away a few days later. RIP.
