I had a tough time picking my favorites from Fendi's Spring/Summer 2012 collection, but it came down to these:

But before I begin, let's just say that I've looked through the entire Spring/Summer 2012 collection in the press kit, and there seems to be a lot of perforated bags, as well as beaded ones this Spring/Summer 2012!

Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2012

Balenciaga's seasonal pieces for Spring/Summer 2012 have taken the minimalist route. Perhaps this is in line with their style evolution: more clean lines, which then resonates with their total discontinuation of the giant studded hardware (which I still think is more stylish) in favour of smaller hardware.

First up, I really am not such a fan at all of this new rather structured-looking convertible hobo/tote bag. The shoulder strap isn't detachable, which would make it rather awkward when carrying it as a tote. And since the short handles on the bag aren't collapsible, it would be rather uncomfortable and not to mention, rather cumbersome when slinging it on the shoulder. In short, it isn't too practical.

This sling bag with the side opening is rather unique, and in my opinion, could also work for the guy.

Now this, I quite like. Perfect for the office, or even as a document bag. I don't know about you, but it sort of reminds me of the Celine Luggage Tote -- the older one with the flap pocket instead of the one with the zipper... What do you think?

Not a fan of red at all, but somehow it looks so much better in red than black don't you think?

Also from the same range, I'm loving this sling bag! And the purple is gorgeous!

But my most favourite of all from the range -- The Clutch! The Red clasp is attention grabbing and certainly makes the all-white clutch pop!

Breaking News: Prada Launches 24 Hours Museum Event On Facebook TODAY!

Prada launches a "24 hours Museum" today in Paris. As the title suggests, it is only open for 24 Hours till Wednesday, 25 January at the Palais d'léna in Paris today. Divided into 3 sections (historic, contemporary, and forgotten), each section refers to specific events that take place during the 24 hours in different areas of the ground floor of the venue.

But guess what? This is entirely a mystery event, not even the events agency knows anything about it!

For those of us who won't be able to attend this "mystery event", Prada has launched an interactive app on their Facebook page, fully utilizing the power of social media to create a buzz about the event by allowing everyone to participate! Once you approve the app, you need to upload a photo, select your picture frame and jewels, the photo (which also allows you to post it to your Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr) will be added to the digital gallery -- something along the lines of the #marcfam thing that happened on Twitter and Instagram last month. Upon uploading, your photo will also be uploaded onto the 24 Hours Museum Website

The real event will only be unveiled to the events agency (Modecracy) as well as everyone at the invitation-only dinner in Paris tonight. At 11pm Paris Time, it will be turned into a disco-club visible online at the Website. The museum opens to public on 25 January 7am-12pm and from 2pm-4:30pm. The Pop-up Museum closes at 8:30pm on 25 January Paris Time.

It's the First Day of Chinese New Year today, and I'm sure we're still full from last night's reunion dinner aren't we? That topped off with all the snacks consumed while visiting relatives' and friend's houses...

Anyway, since it's the First Day of the Lunar New Year, what better way than to kick start it in a super-luxe manner, yes? Today is all about luxury, and with that here are Hermes's Spring/Summer 2012 Bags for both Men and Women!

Passe-Guide Bag In Box

The Passe-Guide Bag in Box is actually a reissue of a model designerd by Henry d'Origny in 1795 which was originally inspired by the ring at the front of Roman chariots that kept the carriage reins in place, as represented by the clasp detail on the bag. This bag is certainly something that certainly exudes an old world charm.

Berline Bag in Swift Calfskin

As a tribute to motorsports, the lines of the Berline is said to symbolise the bucket seats found in sports and racing cars. Not exactly a new addition to Hermes (but one of the much more recent models), the Berline is available in a new colour this Spring/Summer 2012 season: Vermillion Red.

Etribelt Bag in Togo Calfskin

The latest addition to Hermes this Spring/Summer 2012: The Etribelt Bag. Yes you might remember the Etriviere that I posted about 2 years ago when it was first released. Now, the belted detail family is proud to announce a new member -- yes any Hermes bag with "etri" in its name means that it sports a belted detail. And the inspiration behind the Etribelt is a belted trenchcoat. Whether you choose to actually belt it, that's entirely up to you because it can be worn either way. As for the colours, it's available in multiple shades of Togo and Evergrain calfskin.

Roulis in Gran D'H Calfskin

One of the house classics (which Hermes bag isn't a classic eh?) this bag debuts a new material: a leather print that reproduces the diagonal cross-grains that appear like stripes on the H canvas. In simple terms, what this means is that it is textured leather (think Prada's Saffiano leather).

The Garden Picnic in Wicker and Barenia Calfskin

Now, you might remember the Kelly Picnic from last year's Spring/Summer collection which is also made of Wicker & Barenia Calfskin. This year, it's the Garden Picnic - i.e. the Picnic version of the Garden Party Tote.

Garden Party Craft

This variation of the Garden Party is made of 100% vegetable tanned H canvas and natural cowhide trims -- meaning that the leather would tan with use (think Vuitton's Monogrammed canvas bags). Inspired by the brightly coloured jockey silk jackets, the embroidery on the Garden Party Craft was handmade by Indian master embroiderers.

My Favourite Picks from Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2012

When I was in Hong Kong last week, I was lucky to preview some of the Spring/Summer 2012 items which were already in stores, and the Brighton happened to be one of them.

While I didn't get to see this colour, or this style with the long chain link strap, I managed to see the same bag (but a different colour -- imagine fuchsia where the light purple currently is while the other colours remain the same) but with a leather shoulder strap. Not only was I in love with it, but so was my mum. And if you're wondering whether I actually bought the bag, well, I didn't because of my not so horizontal shoulders. Some of you might remember me complaining about this problem; that bags just can't stay put on my shoulder whether it be rolled handles or flat handles. So yes, woe is me -- this was one of the times when I really wished that the bag could stay on my shoulder. Pftt. If I remember correctly, it came up to RM 6,000+ after conversion (points to the python closure in the middle, yes the one in metallic silver). Anyway, while the fuchsia version that I saw with the leather handle is very neon (the hottest pink you can imagine - but hey, neons are in!) - and some might shy away from the neon + Metallic python combo - this pastel colour combo below might be a "safer" and less "in-your-face" option because at least only the sides are in fuchsia.

Next up, the Classic Exotic Wellington. You probably can't really see from the photo, but the pale pink bits which make up most of the bag are indeed made of python. Totally sweet and feminine this one.

This colour combo of Red + Taupe is a very interesting one, even for someone like me who isn't at all a fan of red. Okay I'm going to go slightly off topic here, but since Chinese New Year is approaching, I thought you should know that I NEVER and I REFUSE to wear red during this festive season, opting instead for Fuchsia, Bright Orange, Neon Yellow, or Green. Yes, can you tell I love my colours? Anyway, I digress.. back to the Venetia. The vibrant red offsets the more muted earthy taupe and gives it a much needed pop, just like the Red Cherry on top of the cake. Notice how if it were to be in blue (shown below, and just try to picture it without the quilting), it sort of blends together and doesn't pop as much as this Taupe + Red one.

My Favourite Picks from Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2012

You know, I'm really loving the Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2012 collection even more than the (dare I say) because it's more vivacious this season than the main Marc Jacobs line, because the main line is more true to its founding principle philosophy: classicism. Marc by Marc Jacobs, on the other hand, is more youthful and more, well, high street style because that's what most of the youths are after.

Anyway, you may remember that back in September I was already raving about these colour-blocked pocket clutches spotted on the Marc by MJ runway at New York Fashion Week. In fact, I thought they looked more luxe and more designer. I remember commenting that I thought it was more Fendi than the usual Marc by Marc Jacobs, but MbMJ it was!

And so my love affair with these babies continue:

Apart from the reversible totes, the Spring/Summer 2012 collection is very uncharacteristic of MbMJ don't you think? But unusual as it may be, I'm certainly excited to see the direction in which this more youthful line is evolving! Thoughts?

Fendi's Chameleon Boston Gets Sporty

I popped over to the Fendi press office during a recent trip to Singapore in December for a meet-up with the Fendi peeps, and got to preview some pieces from the Pre-Spring/Summer 2012. One of them was the Python Silvana which I loved and had previously blogged about about 2 weeks ago, and this is another of my favourites from the collection.

I'm sure some of you might have remembered me saying that the Chameleon Boston is a little too Lady Chic for my liking, but this perforated colour-blocked version just transform the bag into a sporty, youthful and fun day bag. And yes, it is only when the Chameleon's demonstrates its ability to transform and represent itself in many guises can it truly be a chameleon through and through. And this time, it has definitely succeeded :)

The Kelly Lakis in Lime (photo doesn't reflect actual colour), and I finally got to see the actual product in Hong Kong yesterday. Yes my dears, this is more expensive than a 35cm Birkin, and so far, I haven't seen anyone sporting this style. This style is also no longer sold in Hong Kong, and they're not accepting any orders as a result; the bag that I saw (and touched) is only for display purposes. And don't you just love the contrast coloured shoulder strap?

Louis Vuitton planning a special collection with Yayoi Kusama

Seeing as her work has long been an inspiration to designers, it was high time that the word of fashion paid a direct and official tribute to Yayoi Kusama who will team up with Louis Vuitton in an exclusive partnership. The collection, which will be co-created with the French fashion house’s creative director, Marc Jacobs, will be available next July, on the occasion of the inauguration of the exhibition Yayoi Kusama at the Whitney Museum in New York (a retrospective that just closed its doors in Paris, the Pompidou Centre).

The Yayoi Kusama / Louis Vuitton collection will include a full range of products: there will be handbags, of course, but also also ready-to-wear, watches, jewelry and other accessories, all limited-edition. The launch will be global, however, distributed through the 461 stores held by the crowning jewel of the LVMH group.  Marc Jacobs has worked on other creative partnerships before this one, such as with Takashi Murakami and Stephen Sprouse. In the past, he had already been inspired by the Japanese octogenarian’s world, just as others, such as Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel, have been before him.

Thursday Friday Birkin Tote

You might remember Hermès taking up a lawsuit against Thursday Friday for their "Birkin" printed canvas bags. Well, I suppose they weren't successful because Thursday Friday is still selling these totes.

I must say that I've seen even better Birkin printed ones, ones where you can barely tell that it's actually printed on canvas because every centimetre of the bag is printed on, and even made to look like a Birkin. In fact, they recently made their way to our shores during the last quarter of the year, and I've seen too many people carrying them wherever I go. Now, there are even Celine "Luggage Totes" and Bottega Veneta "Cabas" printed bags, and I'm sure, the list will only get longer.

When I saw this Proenza Schouler Spring/Summer 2012 Ad Campaign from my Twitter feed, I thought I had literally died and gone to bag heaven. The purpose of this blog post isn't really to feature the Ad campaign but the very striking PS1 Keepall. The printed python details set against the earthy linen with black leather piping and handles is"perfecto!" It's no wonder that the design duo who practically brought satchels back in fashion won the 2009 CFDA Award for Accessories Designer for womenswear! All I can say is that I'm absolutely smitten!

So New Years was just last week, and in 2 weeks time, it's Chinese New Year, or more precisely, the Lunar New Year!

For this Limited Edition Special Collection, Coach collaborates with Chinese tattoo and street artist Zhang Lan. The collection consists of a tote bag along with some Small Leather Goods (SLGs) - all monogrammed in nature - that sports a golden dragon illustration by the artist that is created in the traditional style of ink painting.

A crocheted/knitted clutch with d'ancre (that's Anchor in French) closure. The anchor is a detail that Nicolas Ghesquiere revived from the Balenciaga archives, and because of that, many items sport the Anchor motif/detail this season!

Though when I showed this to my mum commenting that I love the colour contrast, she took one look at it and told me that she can make one for me too. Haha yes, my mum and aunt are both very good knitters, with nimble fingers especially when it comes to handiwork/handicrafts. I, on the other hand, totally stink in this department, lol.

Event Post: Mulberry's Spring/Summer 2012 Press Day

On Thursday, January 5th, Stylicious Fashionista attended the Mulberry Press Day.

Everyone was greeted by this as we walked out of the lift

And this is the first thing that greets you when you walk into the room the balloon animals centerpiece. The theme for Mulberry this Spring/Summer 2012 is Pink, Yellow and Green - well, sherbet colours to be exact - And we were served sorbets in precisely these 3 colours: Kiwi (Green), Mango (Yellow) and Raspberry (Pink) along with frozen margaritas, as well as sandwiches, scones and cookies to fill up our tummies.

Meet the Evelina family:

The Evelina Satchels in 2 sizes the Summer Khaki one at the back is the large size

Mulberry's latest addition to SS12, the Harriet satchel(in leopard printed hair calf. (Retail price: RM 12,000+)

Next up, the travel day bags from the Catwalk collection. The one on the left in Natural Mixed animal print is quite unique and you really have to see it up close because it looks like hair calf, but when touched, it's actually just the print. The one on the right is one of my favorites, in Nightshade Blue Haircalf and the rich midnight blue is really much more intense when seen up close. No price available yet for these babies because they're Runway pieces.

If you think this shade looks gorgeous, you have to see the real colour up close.

The Bayswater in Lemon Sherbert patent leather. This colour wouldn't be brought into Malaysia because apparently, Malaysians are more "safe" when it comes to their choice of colours.

Here's another one of my favorites, the Lily with Gems -- the gems are actually made of Swarovski crystals

Oh and this Lily with Patchwork Gems from the Catwalk collection just sets my heart aflutter. The patchwork is actually Mulberry's motto: "Love, Peace, Mulberry"

And there's more: here's the back view with a patchwork star! How cute is that? I actually didn't notice this detail at the back, until the buyer for Mulberry Malaysia pointed it out to me!

Here's the Rosie from the Travel range. Not at all heavy, the nylon makes it a perfect travel companion

Yet another catwalk piece which I LOVE, the travel camera bag. If you think it's striking in the photo, let me tell you that up close, the green actually "glows" and seems almost radioactive.

Lastly, the SLGs. I really love the zippered pouch on the left. Again, perfect for traveling with, it has 2 zips on both the front AND the back along with a top middle zip for the main compartment. And I know what some of you might be thinking (which to be honest, I initially thought as well): that the zips actually direct you to the same compartment. Well nope, nothing of that sort -- they're all separate compartments. The zip pouch retails for RM1,460 and I am definitely getting one!

Lastly, the RTW and shoe collections, which would not be brought into KL.

Newsflash: Vuitton's Marc Jacobs exhibition Set to open on March 9 in Paris

Louis Vuitton's hotly-anticipated Marc Jacobs exhibition will open at Les Arts Décoratifs in Paris on March 9 until September 16. A celebration of the designer's 15-year-long reign at the luxury label, the exhibition will be curated by leading fashion author and lecturer Pamela Golbin.

The showcase will look at both Jacobs' and Vuitton's contributions to the fashion world, seperately as well as together once Jacobs joined the 158-year-old label in 1997. The space will cover two floors, with each dedicated to one of the two exhibition subjects. Visitors can expect to see Jacobs' most famous designs for the French fashion house, alongside a selection of Vuitton's iconic trunks.
