I mentioned in my previous post that before I'll be talking about Baguio lodging, I'll be talking a little bit about those other things which need to be taken into consideration before deciding where to stay. Let me explain.

First of all, one of the things that also needs to be taken into consideration aside from Baguio lodging is how you'll be travelling to Baguio. If you'll be coming from Metro Manila, the trip to Baguio will entail either a fairly short trip by air, or a bit of a longer trip by land. Personally, I haven't yet experienced traveling to Baguio by plane, but I hear that it's fairly rapid, which really is one of the significant advantages of traveling by air as opposed to traveling by vehicle. I have experienced quite a number of times traveling to Baguio by land. Some of those times have been by bus, other times have been my car. So in addition to worrying about Baguio lodging, you have to determine which of the various travel options you will want to make use of.

Again, I can't actually speak to the experience of traveling to Baguio City by plane, and the experience of traveling by land should actually merit its own separate post, but just let me make a few observations rather quickly in this one. When you're traveling by car, you need to determine who will be driving. Will you be hiring a driver? Do you perhaps have your own family or personal driver? Will you be driving yourself? Will you have someone with you to alternate when it comes to driving? Those are some of the things that need to be considered. The trip to Baguio will actually take quite a number of hours. You'll be driving along some very different types of roads. In the beginning you'll be driving around Metro Manila. Later you'll be driving along an expressway. After that you'll probably be driving along some rather smaller roads which cut through provinces and small towns, some with rather dense population centers and others or other areas will be much more sparse. Finally you'll be driving in a fairly mountainous region, and if the weather is cool and depending on the time of year that you go up, you might have to deal with fog.

The answers to some of these questions are just as important as the issue of Baguio lodging because the drive to Baguio can be rather taxing. If you'll be driving while on your own, with no one to replace you, then you'll probably require a few rest stops along the way, just to be on the safe side. Some of the areas you'll be driving through can be quite monotonous. The danger is that, if you get tired, you might fall asleep at the wheel even just for a second or two, which could lead to an accident. Again, this question of driving yourself to Baguio or taking a vehicle to Baguio City, is an important one and I'll probably be discussing it some more, perhaps in a separate post, and probably in some of the other Baguio lodging posts.

If you'll be taking a bus to Baguio City, however, then you also need to take some precautions which are just as important as Baguio lodging. Let me discuss one quickly. Whenever you're taking public transportation, it pays to be careful with your belongings. Take note of where your things are at all times. Don't leave your belongings unattended. Don't make it easy for someone to simply get on the bus, pick up your bag, and get back off. This is a topic which also deserves a post of its own, but this particular point is fairly important in of itself.

So again, do your research regarding your Baguio lodging, but also do your research regarding how exactly you'll be arriving in Baguio. It's just as important if not more so. I hope this post short though it may be, has been a little bit helpful.

I decided to start this Baguio hotel blog because it has always been one of those places which fascinate me. I've been there very many times, spread out over very many years. I'm a little bit familiar with how it was quite some time ago, when it was a lot more raw than it is now. I've also been there recently, well relatively recently, so I have an idea of what a current traveler will come across if he or she goes up to Baguio. I've been wanting to write about Baguio for quite a while, but the idea of having a blog all about the city was a little bit daunting. By choosing to focus on one particular aspect, such as the Baguio tourism industry, specifically the hotels and lodging, which include other smaller forms of lodging such as inns, apartelles, and the like, then I have a venue for discussing Baguio City with a particular focus, so the idea of blogging about it doesn't seem so overwhelming.

After all, a discussion of Baguio hotels will inevitably lead to a discussion of many other things. For example, I intend to start off my posts by focusing first on how exactly to get to Baguio City, so that will include for example the trip from Metro Manila to Baguio. I can discuss the roads, the fog, those sorts of things and then tie this all to Baguio lodging by finishing with a discussion of where travelers will probably end up once they arrive in the city.

Also, when I discuss Baguio hotels, I'll be discussing the tourist trade of the city. For example, I might mention which particular hotels are near certain key tourist spots, that sort of thing. And when I talk about Baguio hotels, I'll also be discussing some of the other issues which both locals and tourists have to deal with when they are in the city, during peak tourist season. For example, water tends to be an issue so that when a traveler arrives in Baguio City, and he chooses to stay in one of the smaller forms of lodging, he or she will probably want to make sure that there is sufficient water available for bathing and other needs. After all, Baguio is geographically located in such a way that water at times can be difficult to come by.

So basically what I'm trying to say is that I started this Baguio hotel blog both because I wanted to talk about Baguio tourism and lodging, and also because I want to be able to discuss other things that interest me about the city, and which anyway have an effect on or a relationship with Baguio hotels.

Again, I'll probably be focusing first in my next several posts on traveling to Baguio as well as traveling within the city itself. Then I'll proceed to discuss some of the different lodging options available to tourists who go up to Baguio, but I'll probably be discussing them rather generally in the beginning. Once I'm able to post on Baguio hotels a bit in more general terms, then I'll start to focus on individual places where tourists can go. Let me add though that I won't be giving any recommendations as to particular hotels to go to, because I don't feel qualified to do so, and I really don't want to have to worry about claims of favoritism or something similar. I'll talk about what I come across online and my impressions, and then I'll leave it up to readers to determine whether something I discuss is worth more research, and merits additional attention.

Whatever happens, I hope at least that the information I provide here on Baguio hotels, even if it really isn't all that comprehensive is still helpful somehow to those who would read it.
