Vidak and Shaw Thursday on 'First Look'

Wednesday's show just flew by and it's looking like Thursday's will, too, with former Hanford farmer and Congressional candidate Andy Vidak. Vidak has announced his candidacy for the 16th state Senate District recently vacated by Michael Rubio.

In the 9 o'clock hour, Eye Street's Matt Muñoz heads into the studio with his guest Musician Jim Shaw of the Buckaroos. Shaw has been playing with the famed band for more than 40 years.

A small team in The Californian newsroom is working on an iPad book chronicling the world-famous March Meet, held annually at Famoso Raceway just north of Bakersfield.

"March Meet: Bakersfield's Love Affair with Speed, Nitro & Good Times" will take fans deep into one of Bakersfield's biggest events. This will be our first iPad book and will feature lots of stories, photos and videos on the racing legends and characters who have brought this event to life over the last 54 years.

The concept of Capture Kern is simple: Professional and amateur photographers upload their photos of Kern County to the website, where our readers view and vote on the ones they like. Monster job section launches

It's been about six months since Monster.com purchased Yahoo HotJobs, our online recruitment partner for the last few years. Since early fall, our recruitment section has carried a HotJobs by Monster brand as we worked on a transition to Monster's software. As of this weekend, we have completed that migration.
