LONDON, JUMAT--Foto seorang gadis penari Bali dengan mengenakan baju tari plus hiasan bunga di kepala serta lirikan mata menjadi headline di harian terkemuka Inggris The Independent yang menuliskan Happy New Year to all readers.

Surat kabar ternama dengan ciri khasnya burung Elang atau burung Garuda dalam terbitan pada tanggal 1 Januari 2009 memuat gambar wajah gadis cilik penari Bali dengan dandanan yang khas itu dijual seharga satu pound (senilai Rp16.500) tertulis foto Made Nagi/EPA.

Councellor Herry Sudradjat, Pensosbud KBRI London yang dihubungi Koresponden Antara London, Kamis mengatakan bahwa suatu kebanggaan nama Bali dan Indonesia disebut sebut dalam harian terkemuka tersebut.

Dikatakannya bahwa hal itu merupakan suatu promosi bagi pariwisata Indonesia dan ternyata Bali masih menjadi daya tarik di tengah tengah resesi yang melanda di negeri Kerajaan Elizabeth.

Mengenakan busana tari warna emas dalam caption disebutkan di bawah gambar penari Bali itu "Dancers Perform at a New Year's parade in Denpasar on the Island od Bali Indonesia, yesterday.
