I went with my family (myself, my wife and my 2 years old kid).

Day-1: Just photo and biometric. No questions. Nothing to worry.

Day-2:
Reached US Counsulate at 9:00 AM, there were three big queue's (8:30, 9:00 and 9:30) I approached security for priority entry showing my kid, but that guy asked us to

come at 10:00 am so that he would let us allow inside directly. I waited for 1 hr outside in the queue then by 10:00 AM i approached security, he allowed us inside

directly.

Visa Officer : Did you do requiremnet gathering for 10 weeks ? what kind of requirement it is ? (again i gave a big story about projects)

Do you have the agremment between your company and cleint for the project which you went? NO

Do you have any client letter from client? presented Client SOW and explained that I am going to work from my office and on need basis i will go to the customer place

for 1 or 2 days.

Visa Officer: OK are you having any doc from Cleint saying that you will work for client from your US office ????

My first Round interviewer came to the current interview Window, They switched off the mic and discussed arround 10 to 15 mins, then 2nd round of interviers showing

something to the first Round interviewer on the system for about 5 mins again. They were discussing between them again, I was just seeing their actions was not able

to hear anything. Finally First Round interviewer told me that they need sometime to verify it from their end and in the mean time some additional documents are

required from the petitioner to process my VISA further, so please send it to us as soon as possible.

Finally they told me that i don't need to appear for any more interviews in person, they just need the additional docs from me for processing. If i have any doubts i

can call the call center and mention the case no to get the updates.

And I was given Form 221(g) - Blue color.

I gathered the requested documents from my employer and send it to the Embassy in 2 to 3 days of time frame. Finally 2 weeks later i got an email asking me to collect

my passport. :)

Thats all i got my Passport with H1B VISA stampped with 3 years validity.

The following pictures are taken near the Madiwala Police Station. The Footpath is occupied by the Musim Masjid near Wipro M3 and M4. During the peak hours most of the accident happens in this place. There is no foot path at all in this place to walk.....where public will walk ?? Foot path is occupied by the religious and the some tea shop fellows.

Are the government authorities sleeping ? If people want to worship God, God is everywhere. They can do all their prayers from their home or in some private place wherever they want. No God says to block the public way and build a temple or masjid for him. Helping the people is equal to praying the God 100000000000000000000000.......n times.

And moreover Did the Footpath was constructed first or Masjid was constructed first ? where were these people when they construct the Road.

Some Public enemy's have blocked the public road and constructed the masjid, will they allow public to walk inside the their masjid ????

Will the BDA/Police/Government Authorities take action on these people and bring the footpath back for public use ? God Knows. - Bangalorean.

2. What's so special about him?

He built a village Ralegaon Siddhi in Ahamad Nagar district, Maharashtra

3. So what?
This village is a self-sustained model village. Energy is produced in
the village itself from solar power, biofuel and wind mills.

In 1975, it used to be a poverty clad village. Now it is one of the
richest village in India. It has become a model for self-sustained,
eco-friendly & harmonic village.

This guy, Anna Hazare was awarded Padma Bhushan and is a known figure
for his social activities.

5. Really, what is he fighting for?

He is supporting a cause, the amendment of a law to curb corruption in India.

6. How that can be possible?

He is advocating for a Bil, The Lok Pal Bill (The Citizen Ombudsman
Bill), that will form an autonomous authority who will make
politicians (ministers), beurocrats (IAS/IPS) accountable for their
deeds.

8. It's an entirely new thing right..?

In 1972, the bill was proposed by then Law minister Mr. Shanti
Bhushan. Since then it has been neglected by the politicians and some
are trying to change the bill to suit thier theft (corruption).

7. Oh.. He is going on a hunger strike for that whole thing of passing
a Bill ! How can that be possible in such a short span of time?

The first thing he is asking for is: the government should come
forward and announce that the bill is going to be passed.

Next, they make a joint committee to DRAFT the LOK PAL BILL. 50%
goverment participation and 50% public participation. Because you cant
trust the government entirely for making such a bill which does not
suit them.

8. Fine, What will happen when this bill is passed?

A LokPal will be appointed at the centre. He will have an autonomous
charge, say like the Election Commission of India. In each and every
state, Lokayukta will be appointed. The job is to bring all alleged
party to trial in case of corruptions within 1 year. Within 2 years,
the guilty will be punished. Not like, Bofors scam or Bhopal Gas
Tragedy case, that has been going for last 25 years without any
result.

9. Is he alone? Whoelse is there in the fight with Anna Hazare?

Bangalore boy to build roads from plastic waste

The problem of plastic waste in the city is getting acute by the day. Bangalore generates roughly 5,000 tonne of solid waste daily, of which nearly 50 tonne is plastic. But there is a ray of hope as an M Tech student has taken it upon himself to find ways of countering the menace.

A N Ashwin, a student of R V Engineering College, is conducting a study, titled 'Effects of Waste Plastic Utilisation on the Performance of Semi-Dense Bituminous Concrete Mixes', which will look at ways to put plastics to good use. The study is a first-of-its-kind in India. Every day, tonnes of plastic is generated, and not properly disposed - its either dumped along with other waste generated or is being burnt, causing a serious threat to the environment.

When plastic is used in semi-dense materials for laying roads, the road's durability increases. It doesn't get damaged easily and stops seepage of water. "Recycled plastic is already being used in making of roads and is used to mix with the aggregates. But it is not used in semi-dense bituminous concrete mixes. By recycling the waste, the goal of plastic waste management is also achieved," said Ashwin.

"The waste plastic is used in wet process where it is mixed with bitumen, but no one has tried it yet with dry process, which we are doing for the first time. Low-density waste plastic in its fine shredded form will be added (at high temperature) to the heated aggregates, thus forming a thin coating on them.

As a result, it provides better performance of semi-dense bituminous concrete mixes by performing two different functions. One improves the adhesive property of aggregates with binders and also it improves anti-stripping property of aggregates," he added.

Bangalore Traffic diversion at Dairy Circle

BANGALORE: Traffic movement from Bangalore Dairy Circle to Wilson Garden will be diverted from the midnight of December 20 to facilitate repair works by BSWWB. The diversion will be in effect until the works are completed, a release from the police commissioner said.

The water board is undertaking repair works of drinking water pipes on the stretch between Kidwai hospital and Nimhans convention centre on Dr Mari Gowda Road.

Vehicles from Bannerghatta Road, Hosur Road and Sarjapur Road travelling towards Majestic will have to reach MICO Layout via Dairy Circle and turn left at Chinnayanapalya junction. They can touch K H Road and Dr Mari Gowda Road from Chinnayanapalya and Wilson Garden 8th Main Road. Alternatively, motorists can drive down Bannerghatta Road and take a left at Shooly Circle to reach Richmond Circle and proceed further.

Vehicles travelling towards City Market from Hosur Road need to turn left at Silk Board junction. Those coming from Bannerghatta Road need to take a left at J D Mara, while those travelling from Gurappanapalya and BTM Layout need to turn left at Gurappanapalya junction and proceed via East End Road and via Jayanagar to reach City Market.

Turkish plane crash in Amsterdam

Amsterdam: A Turkish airliner crashed at Amsterdam's main airport about 1500 hours (IST) on Wednesday Dutch airport officials said.

There were conflicting reports about whether anyone was killed on the plane, which had 135 people onboard.

An airline official told CNN sister station CNN-Turk that at least one person was confirmed dead, but Turkish transportation minister Binali Yildrim said no one had died but that there were injured.

Journalist Ivan Watson in Istanbul said Turkish media quoted one crash survivor saying people were able to walk away from the crash.

"He said the back of the plane hit the ground first. He said it was not an extremely horrible situation, it was like being in turbulence. He said it was more like a sudden impact, then we stopped."

CNN's Matthijs Spits said from the Netherlands that local footage showed "10s of people" walking away from parts of the plane. He said the plane had not reached the runway but there had been no fire.

The Boeing 737-800, which originated from Istanbul, Turkey, was trying to land at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol when it went down.

Pictures from the crash site showed the plane split in three parts.

Greg Crouch, a journalist for RTL at the scene of the crash, told CNN that the weather was very reasonable at the time of the incident, with no wind or rain. He added that the plane came down close to the A9 highway, one of the Netherlands' major road routes.

Kieran Daly, of Air Transport Intelligence, said the pictures indicated there had not been a widespread fire.

He said the impact had been severe but it could have been survivable because of the lack of fire.

Daly said there had been vast improvements in the materials used to build airplanes, meaning they did not burn as easily.

He added that the airline had a good safety record, was successful, modern and well thought of in the industry.

Water supply will be cut in several areas as a major supply line in Cauvery IV Stage, drawing water from T K Halli, will be re-aligned as per a directive of the high court.

The supply line, which cuts across the Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor at Channasandra on Uttarahalli-Kengeri Road, is scheduled to be shifted as per an approved corridor alignment. The litigation has been on for some time and the HC has directed BWSSB to re-align the supply line.

The shifting will require linking of new lines to the existing ones. For this purpose, pumps will be switched off for three days and water supply will be affected. BWSSB has advised the public to store sufficient water. Regular supply will be restored on July 20.

The affected areas include:
West division: Nagarbhavi (all stages), Chandra Layout, Vijayanagar, Hampinagar, RR Nagar, Kengeri, WCR 2nd Stage, Mahalakshmi Layout, Magadi Road.

North division: Sahakaranagar, Byatarayanapura, Yelahanka, parts of Vidyaranyapura, Dasarahalli, parts of Jalahalli, HMT, Siddathnagar, BIAL.

Some tips for filling petrol and diesel:-

Only buy or fill up your car or bike during early morning, when the groundtemperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have theirstorage tanks underground.. The colder the ground, the more dense the fuel.When it gets warmer, petrol expands. So, buying in the afternoon or in theevening, your litre is not exactly a litre. In the petroleum business, thespecific gravity and the temperature play an important role. 1 degree risein temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations donot have temperature compensation at the pumps.

Another most important tip is to fill up when your tank is HALF FULL. Thereason for this is, the more fuel you have in your tank the less is the airoccupying its empty space. Petrol evaporates faster than you can imagine.

Another useful information is to avoid filling up if there is a fuel truckpumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy. Most likely, thepetrol/diesel is being stirred up as the fuel is being delivered, and youmight pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

India Knowledge@Wharton: Could you give an example, from your own experience, of how leaders should manage failure?

Kalam: Let me tell you about my experience. In 1973 I became the project director of India's satellite launch vehicle program, commonly called the SLV-3. Our goal was to put India's "Rohini" satellite into orbit by 1980. I was given funds and human resources -- but was told clearly that by 1980 we had to launch the satellite into space. Thousands of people worked together in scientific and technical teams towards that goal.

By 1979 -- I think the month was August -- we thought we were ready. As the project director, I went to the control center for the launch. At four minutes before the satellite launch, the computer began to go through the checklist of items that needed to be checked. One minute later, the computer program put the launch on hold; the display showed that some control components were not in order. My experts -- I had four or five of them with me -- told me not to worry; they had done their calculations and there was enough reserve fuel. So I bypassed the computer, switched to manual mode, and launched the rocket. In the first stage, everything worked fine. In the second stage, a problem developed. Instead of the satellite going into orbit, the whole rocket system plunged into the Bay of Bengal. It was a big failure.

That day, the chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization, Prof. Satish Dhawan, had called a press conference. The launch was at 7:00 am, and the press conference -- where journalists from around the world were present -- was at 7:45 am at ISRO's satellite launch range in Sriharikota [in Andhra Pradesh in southern India]. Prof. Dhawan, the leader of the organization, conducted the press conference himself. He took responsibility for the failure -- he said that the team had worked very hard, but that it needed more technological support. He assured the media that in another year, the team would definitely succeed. Now, I was the project director, and it was my failure, but instead, he took responsibility for the failure as chairman of the organization.

The next year, in July 1980, we tried again to launch the satellite -- and this time we succeeded. The whole nation was jubilant. Again, there was a press conference. Prof. Dhawan called me aside and told me, "You conduct the press conference today."

I learned a very important lesson that day. When failure occurred, the leader of the organization owned that failure. When success came, he gave it to his team. The best management lesson I have learned did not come to me from reading a book; it came from that experience.

BMTC Services to Bengaluru International Airport

The BMTC has released the fares of the soon to be introduced 'Airport Bus Service' to BIAL, connecting the airport from eight locations of the city. These buses will be numbered as BIAL 1 to 7 for the first seven routes that are expected to hit the roads in the last week of March 2008.

Can you imagine this is happening in INDIA?
The govt. wants people to use this tool to highlight the problems they faced while dealing with Government officials or departments like Passport Office, Electricity board, BSNL/MTNL, Railways etc.

I know many people will say that these things don't work in India, but this actually works as one of our colleague in CSC found. The guy I'm talking about lives in Faridabad. Couple of months back, the Faridabad Municipal Corporation laid new roads in his area and the residents were very happy about it. But 2 weeks later, BSNL dug up the newly laid roads to install new cables which annoyed all the residents including this guy. But it was only this guy! Who used the above listed grievance forum to highlight his concern. And to his surprise, BSNL and Municipal Corporation of Faridabad were served a show because notice and the guy received a copy of the notice in one week. Government has asked the MC and BSNL about the goof up as it's clear that both the government departments were not in sync at all.

So use this grievance forum and educate others who don't know about this facility. This way we can at least raise our concerns instead of just talking about the ' System ' in India.

Bengaluru International Airport: Commences operation on Friday, May 23, 2008

The new Bengaluru International Airport will commence its operations on Friday, May 23, 2008 (00:01 hours of May 23). All flights landing and departing after midnight (May 22, 2008) will operate from the new airport, and the HAL Airport will not be functional from May 23, 2008.

Departure from Bengaluru International Airport

Please find attached below the information on the location of the airport and the various means of transport. The check-in hall at the new airport is common for domestic and international passengers. There are '53 check-in counters' and '18 Self check-in machine's. There is no need to screen your bags before check-in.

The following "User Development Fee" would be collected at the airport directly from passengers leaving Bengaluru. However, those arriving would not have to pay any "User development fee".

International Passengers - INR 1070.
Domestic Passengers - INR 675.

Once you have checked-in, follow the domestic and international departure gate signs on the first floor and proceed through security. Post security check-in you will find a wide range of retail stores and food & beverage outlets. There are also comfortable lounges for first and business class passengers. Free Wi-Fi Internet is also available for those carrying their laptops.

The airport is equipped with adequate number of immigration counters and baggage carousels for quick baggage retrieval. A large duty free shop is also located near the baggage claim area.

Corruption in Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC)

Everyone knows that in Bangalore transportation cost is very high when compared to the neighbour states like Tamilnadu, Kerala. I strongly believe it could be because of the Bangalorians only. Most of the people who travel by Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus are not buying tickets. Even if they decided to buy the ticket, they pay only partial amount to Conductors. BMTC Bus Conductors also accepts that partial amount and are not giving any tickets i.e., say Rs.2 against the Ticket cost RS.5. People think that they are getting benefit of Rs.3 from this. But really they are loosing their cost indirectly. This is one of the main reasons to increase the Ticket cost in Bangalore.

As of my knowledge BMTC conductors and Drivers earn more than Rs.25, 000 per month and they own at least one good apartment in Bangalore, especially in hot of the City.

None of the Bangalorians bother about this. Somebody should involve in this matter and take action on this.

My suggestion to control this corruption is, BMTC should form a separate team for this anti corruption operation. Let’s say BMTC anti-corruption Squad. (BACS). Allocate specific person to a particular route and ask them to check the passengers Tickets regularly. It’s similar to Ticket Checker. I believe BMTC has some people for this job. But I am not sure how active they are. If passenger didn’t buy a ticket fine them, If Conductors didn’t provide the ticket suspend them for a month. We should spread this message through news paper and make people aware of this anti corruption in BMTC buses.

If we implement this project we can control at least 50% of corruption in BMTC busses. Then there will be no chance for increasing the ticket cost very often. As a Bangalorian we should involve in this anti- corruption.
