Is Pattaya Worth It? 8 or 9 Nights In Thailand

Hi guys,

I went to Bangkok last year for the first time for 6 nights and had a blast. I wish I could've stayed for longer. Anyway, I am planning another trip this year and will spend either 8 or 9 nights in Thailand. I did not go to Pattaya last time but am considering going this time. If I go, I suppose it would be 2 nights of the total vacation. Do you guys think it's worth it for me to try out? All the videos I've seen make me think it's very similar to Bangkok, and frankly the beach isn't that impressive. I have never been to a nice tropical beach before in my life, and from what I've researched, Pattaya is not the best for that compared to the other beaches like Koh Samui or Koh Phi Phi.

So anyway do you think it's worth it for me to have a visit considering the length of my stay? I am interested in P4P primarily, but wouldn't mind a nice beach or cultural visit. Or maybe Chiang Mai is better to take in? Any advice here would be appreciated. I think I could have a great time just in Bangkok alone, but am afraid I might get a bit bored. My visit last year was my first time in Thailand so I had a bunch of things to fill up my day with - Ayutthaya, palaces in BKK, viewing a kickboxing match, Chinatown, Khao San Road, etc. I've found that when I visit a city again, I'm not as interested in the cultural sites the second time around.

Have a few questions about Heaven@4:

Has anyone stayed here recently? Been looking at the reviews on TripAdvisor and it seems to be good for a hotel in that price range. I know this hotel is guest friendly but will the BG walk from NEP back to the hotel? It doesn't seem to be that far away to walk.

If I remember right you can cut through from the end of Soi 6 to Soi 8 so not to far a walk from NEP

So I have been researching my options for my flight to BKK. I haven't had a lot of experience with airlilnes that operate in Asia. I have some choices that are all about the same price give or take 50$ (USD).

EVA Airlines or China Eastern Airlines?

Both flight would have 1 stop and the time in travel is about the same. I thinking more of customer service and in air experience people have had (food, drinks, entertainment).

Is it to early to think about November 2018? I don't think so when you have to plan a trip a head of time. My dates are flexible but I am leaning towards the middle to late part of the month. Thinking about 8-12 days not quite sure yet. Can't wait for the fun to begin!

This is my first TR, so bear with me if my writing style meanders and is not to the liking of people. Firstly, a bit about me. 52 year old English guy with ancestors from India, so have the Indian look. Not very dark skinned so generally don’t have any issues with clubs or bars and once they realise I’m not a cheap Charlie I’ve not had any issues.
Long time lurker on boards like these and have traveled extensively and often in Thailand and the Philippines for PFP.

Decided to take the plunge and write a report to give back to the many BM who have shared valuable information (not sure if mine will be of help) and to keep a diary as these trips often become a jumbled memory once back home.

I tend to plan my trips well in advance, mostly depending on ticket prices from the UK. Have flown many different airlines but have decided Etihad is now my go to one. I paid £380 for this trip from the 15 to 25 April. Flight was delayed from Manchester for one hour so landed one hour late in Abu Dhabi. A quick dash to the lounge, a shower, some grub and then joined the scrum to get onto the Bangkok flight. Both legs of the journey were absolutely packed but my hopes of an upgrade to business class were not realised. Only other complaint I had was that the flight to Bangkok was freezing. I never use the blankets provided but this time I had to plus I had my hoodie over my face to try and keep warm. A banging headache later arrived in Bangkok 35 minutes early which was a pleasant surprise. First immigration queues were snaking around and it looked really busy. So I just kept waking to the second one which was pretty quiet. Just my luck as I was the next person in the queue to be served when the duty changeover at 9 happened. Lol. It took all of another 5 minutes to get through immigration. Drew 10k from the ATM whilst waiting for my bag at the carousel. Bag arrived quickly and then off to get a SIM for the burner phone. 499 baht for 10 days cover and then off to the taxi stand. Traffic was really quiet and the female taxi driver only used one toll and got off the motorway before the next one was due. I really appreciated this and tipped her appropriately. She kept calling me “hunsom man” but I’m sure she meant nothing by it, even though she did give me her card. Lol

I am trying Airbnb for the first time in Thailand. My usual hotel is majestic grande on soi 4. I am staying in an apartment on soi 6 which is an ideal location from NEP and the blow job bars on sois 6 and 8. Check in was a breeze as I had requested an early one and an inviting shower and cool room were greatly appreciated. My usual hair cut, manicure, pedicure etc place on soi 11 has been demolished to make way for more condominiums so I needed a new place. I like building a relationship with these kind of establishments and have always had good experiences. Maybe the fact that I tip for good service helps. First place I tried was the salon next to Kasalong. Sorry sir, 15 minute wait so I just moved on. Ladies at Kasalong and Lolita‘ says usual we’re trying to entice me in but I needed a haircut and wasn’t really interested. There were some cute ones which I made a note of to get back to. Then walked onto soi 8 and found a little shop high was empty. The lady there was very good. Haircut and colour for 900b and she really took hervt8me and did a great job. Now it was time for lunch. The lady at the hair salon suggested Kinnaree down the road. Took a walk there and was only the second customer in. Hey All,

Am new here, and think that it's a great place to communicate and share stories on our adventures in Thailand (and in BKK in particular obviously).

I have visited Thailand 5 times now, and am looking to go again soon. There is 1 girl in particular that I would like to see again, here is what I know:

Communications advice for an American

Although I am not a newbie from a hobbying point of view, I would be very grateful for advice regarding phones , so my request for information is very much a newbie one.
Since the revolution in ICT, I have always travelled with my company device to LOS. Having read the possibilities of what is available online, on my next trip, I want to bring my own, so I can access Line, etc., get numbers and so on.

My guess is I need an unlocked device, but that device doesn’t need to be a $1000 iPhone. Can anyone recommend a suitable device in the $200-300 range?
Also, is there any pay as you go plan here in the US that I could use for a trip that would include travel to Japan, Philippines, LOS and Indonesia? Any help greatly appreciated!
