British guy in Pattaya drugged & robbed by freelancer in his hotel room...

Comes the story today of yet another tourist drugged and robbed by a freelancer in Pattaya. The unfortunate victim this time was a 69 year old British gent that was drugged and robbed by a woman in her 20’s (freelancer) he had just met and taken back to his hotel room late Saturday night / early Sunday morning. Apparently housekeeping staff had found him the next afternoon in a dazed and confused state of mind and his room safe had been forced open and cleaned out.

Judging by the photo of his in-room safe on Pattaya One News I can only come to one of three conclusions.

1: The freelancer has super-human strength.

2: Freelancers walk around with bags of crowbars and tools.

3: Once she drugged the British guy she called for one or more friends that brought the tools needed to break open the safe.

Speaking of safes. As you can see from the photo on Pattaya One, the safe has what looks like solid looking bolts and a heavy door. The problem is the safe shell itself is nothing more than rather thin sheet metal. You can see where it wouldn’t take a very skilled safe cracker to break open one of these little safes. It’s about as secure as your ceramic piggy bank that you kept your coins in as a kid.

Alcatraz GoGo - Pattaya Bartender Murdered Serving up Beer...

On Monday night came the shocking news from the Alcatraz gogo bar on Walking Street that a waitress had stabbed her bartender boyfriend of 10 years in the chest with a knife killing him on the spot. The result of arguing over the keys to their motorbike. Read the whole story in Pattaya One News.

This would certainly put a damper on your evening if you were a customer. Especially if you were at the bar waiting for the bartender to bring you a beer.

Russian walks into Pattaya Police Station nearly naked... Really...

Pattaya Police were amused early this past Monday morning when a Russian tourist walked into the police station nearly naked dressed in only his underwear. Apparently the Russian had decided to take a late night swim on Pattaya Beach and while he was swimming his clothes and 1,500 Baht went missing. Fortunately for him he had been smart enough to leave his credit cards and wallet back in his hotel room safe.

A late night swim alone on Pattaya Beach??? This guy is very lucky they didn’t find him floating face down in the bay the next morning. Read the whole story in Pattaya One News.

Walking Street Bars Raided by Pattaya Police...

From Pattaya One News today comes the story of the continued and unabated raids of bars around Pattaya on Tuesday 1/31. Over 30 bars were raided including bars on Walking Street, North Pattaya and Jomtien!

Fifteen bars were found to be unlicensed and their managers and owners taken to the Pattaya Police Station where no doubt hefty fines were in order. A number of bar patrons and staff who didn’t have ID cards (a requirement under Thai law and note tourists have to have their passports not copies) were also arrested. WOW! Come on guys, this is taking the “fun” out of “fun town!”

One night in Bangkok after finishing up some short time fun with a gogo girl from Rainbow 3, I grabbed a taxi for the dancer and me to head back to Nana Plaza. What happened next totally shocked me. The taxi driver blew right past Soi 4 and Nana Plaza!!! I was speechless for a moment and then started yelling at him to stop the freaking taxi. The taxi driver managed a u-turn and took us back up Sukhumvit and I just had him stop at Soi 4 so that the girl and I could cross the street and head back over to Nana.

How could a taxi driver taking you from a hotel on Soi 23 Sukhumvit not know where to stop for Nana Plaza on Soi 4? I even had the gogo girl tell him where we were going as well before we even started!

Walking through Soi Cowboy one night at 3:30 a.m., I had the good fortune of finding that Long Gun was still open and had customers drinking beer. That was good news! I was ready to continuing partying. So I thought I’d take a look inside to see if there was any leftover talent to be taken out but there was just one girl dancing and she was a bit of an ugly duckling. Not exactly the top of the lineup on either the A or B team. (I took a pass on that one besides what kind of gogo girl can you really expect to find dancing in a bar at 3:30 a.m.?)

I did notice that some totally shit faced drunk Australian or British guy (judging by the accent) was getting all worked up over his bar tab, slamming his hand down on the table and demanding to speak to the manager. Not good. I turned around and made my way as quickly as possible to the exit. From the looks of things I figured it was only going to be a matter of a couple of minutes if not seconds before someone in the Thai management cracked a beer bottle over this drunken assholes head.

German drops anchor across from Pattaya Police Station... Boat stolen...

From Pattaya One News today comes the story of a 70 year old German gent that spends his time cruising up and down the coast of Thailand in his small boat named the “White Pearl.” A frequent visitor to Pattaya, last Friday the German decides to tie up his boat at what most people would consider the safest place on Pattaya Beach. Where you might ask? Where else but across from the Pattaya Police Station!

Alas, it turned out that leaving your nice motorboat on the beach across from the police station was no safer than anywhere else. When the German returned to the beach his beloved boat was missing. A quick search discovered that the boat was drifting about 50 yards off shore but had apparently picked up a hitch hiker.

Police quickly commandeered a jet ski and took the German out to recover his boat (no word yet on whether the jet ski operators charged the German 20,000 Baht for wear and tear on the jet ski used to take him out to his boat.) Once to the boat they discovered a Thai girl onboard. Her story was that she had climbed into the boat (for what reason she didn’t say) and the boat then drifted away. Police no doubt found this story a bit fishy but the elderly German was a kind hearted and forgiving soul. The German was so happy to have his boat back that he declined to press any charges.

Rumor has it (and it’s just a rumor) that the Thai girl on the boat was very young and very attractive and was apparently scantily dressed in a barely there bikini which helped seal the deal of making her First Mate of the Germans boat. They were both last seen sailing off into the night. Now whenever the German needs to make a port of call he can drop his anchor whenever he pleases. That’s what I call a “Happy Ending” for all.

From Pattaya One News comes the story of yet another bar being raided by police in Pattaya. This time the Silver Star GoGo on Walking Street was raided. According to police they had received a tip-off that the bar was employing underage and foreign bar workers. Out of 20 ladies in the bar, 18 were arrested! 9 of the girls were under 18 years of age and another 9 girls were from Laos working without a permit. Even for Pattaya’s Walking Street this seems a bit over the top and in your face. Bound to attract some negative attention from somebody.

Now this makes me wonder. Who would complain about a Walking Street gogo having too many girls from Laos working in the bar? There are 3 possible answers:

1: Another bar owner of course that must have been peeved that Silver Star was hiring too much cheap foreign labor while the other bars had to pay more for local girls from Thailand.

2: Seasoned Thai dancers were peeved the bar was only hiring cheap girls from Laos.

3: The bar was behind on its voluntary contributions to the various local tax collectors.

I can see it now, the bar owner says Ok, we’ll make this payment and this payment but pay this last tax collector next week. The tax collector they didn’t pay was one they should have paid on time and he decided to make his point crystal clear to the bars owners.

It would seem the raiding of bars in Pattaya has become a weekly occurrence during the past month. Is there a bar raid crusade taking place in Pattaya? Perhaps a tax increase was put in place and some of the bar owners were complaining about the increase? If that's the case then no doubt the bars have gotten the message that whether they like it or not it’s time to pay higher taxes for the new year if you want to stay in business.

One of my favorite gogo girls from Soi Cowboy emailed me recently. She had just gotten back to Bangkok. A repeat customer had taken her to Phuket for a week! Now that’s what I call going for the Long Time!

From the Associated Press comes a story today of poachers in Thailand that killed 2 elephants and not just for the ivory of the elephant tusks. The poachers cut off the elephant’s sex organs according to the director of Thailand’s wildlife agency to be sold to possibly foreign consumers in Phuket. According to the story some of the meat was to be consumed raw without cooking. Apparently some Asian cultures believe that consuming the elephant’s genitals can boost their sexual prowess. The going rate for poached elephant penis? 30,000 Baht. Seriously, raw elephant balls for dinner??? Don’t these guys know you can get a package of Kamagra for 400 Baht??? I wonder if the guys dining on this tasty sounding (not) treat roar like an elephant before inserting their trunks into that gogo dancer they barfined???

Pattaya One News has another story of a foreigner living in Pattaya that has committed suicide. This time a 37 year old guy from Macedonia decided to hang himself with a leather belt. What is going on with foreigners in Pattaya? Not just middle age guys either. Guys in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s are coming to Pattaya to check in but checking out in a box.

Now just in the past month or so I’ve read stories of both expats and foreign tourists in Pattaya that have either:

1: Drank their self to death.
2: Drank their self into a coma and decided it was a good night for a swim and drowned.
3: Took the high dive off a balcony onto the concrete sidewalk below.
4: Put a gun to their head at the shooting range on Pattaya Beach.
5: Or as in the latest case decided to stretch their neck.

Although I haven’t read anything that indicates for sure that a beautiful Thai girl or the fact the guys might have spent every last Baht on a gogo dancer was to blame, it does make one wonder.

At this rate they’re going to have to rename the sidewalk on Pattaya beach:

“The sidewalk of lonely, broken hearted, suicidal foreigners with dreams of beautiful bargirls.”

Rawhide GoGo - Soi Cowboy - Lacks the party atmosphere....

Rawhide GoGo was being renovated outside every day when I was there back in November. Featuring new neon lighting now to better attract your attention. The inside looks nice enough too but it just seemed to be lacking a certain chemistry and party atmosphere. So does it get a passing grade? I'd say no. I stopped in a couple of nights but never did see any gogo dancers that made me want to sit down and stay for any amount of time. Long Gun was by far a much, much better choice for eye candy in my opinion. Tilac and Baccara have better "it's a party environments."

According to a recent post by Sukhumvit Psycho, Raw Hide has the same ownership as Rio, Spice Girls, Kiss and Déjà Vu but at least when I was there without the hot but untouchable (can’t barfine them) coyote girls those other bars seem to have an unlimited supply of standing out in Soi Cowboy each night.

Pattaya volunteer steals motorbike - From in front of the police station...

From Pattaya One News comes the story today of a Civil Defense Volunteer that takes his job seriously. Perhaps a bit too seriously as he was arrested for stealing a motorbike from in front of the Tourist Police Station. He drove around wearing body armor, carrying a two way radio and firearm. Pretty much sounds like he was impersonating the real police to me. However, apparently many of the Civil Defense volunteers also wear body armor and carry a weapon. Got to give him credit though. It takes balls to steal a motorbike from in front of the police station that by the way recorded the incident on camera. Either that or the guy really is a complete moron. I'm not sure which. You'll have to decide for yourself.
