SHAT GOMBUJ MOSQUE

Shat Gombuj Mosque (meaning Mosque with sixty domes) at Bagerhat, Bangladesh built by Ulugh Khan Jahan (more popularly known as Khan Jahan Ali) just before his death in 1459 AD...... it, with some other mosques built by Khan Jahan Ali are part of UNESCO World

Heritage Site......... the mosque actually has 81 domes and 60 pillars......... the pillars are made

of stone, but after renovation between 1998 and 2002 the pillars were given a coating of cement and paint to save them from gradual ruin....... the mosque is 160ft x 108ft Khan Jahan Ali built around 100 mosques and dug 260 water tanks (some are more than 700 metres long

LALBAGHKELLA:

Right in the middle of Dhaka, Bangladesh, was established in the 17th century by the Mughal Subeder(governor)Shayesta Khan by the banks of the BURIGANGA River. It was a bastion of Mughal soldiers to operate against frequent rebellions across Bengal.

During the 1857 Sepoy Rebellion, the first Indian uprising against the British, Indian soldiers in this fort rebelled as well. It's now preserved well enough, and renovated to a large extent.

SHAT GOMBUJ MOSQUE :

Bangladesh has three world heritage sites. The Shat Gombuj Mosque in Bagerhat is one of them. It is a 15th century Islamic edifice situated in the suburbs of Bagerhat (a district in Khulna Division), on the edge of the Sundarbans, some 175 km south west of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.

It is an enormous Mughal architectural site covering a very large area (160 x 108) square feet. The mosque is unique in that, it has sixty pillars, which support eighty one (81) exquisitely curved domes that have worn away with the passage of time. The structure of the building also represents the 15th century Turki architectural view.

It is anticipated that, before 1459 a greatest devotee of Islam named Khan Jahan Ali established this mosque. He was also the founder of Bagerhat district.

Ahsan Manzil : was the official residential palace and seat of the DHAKA NAWAB FAMILLY. This magnificent building is situated at Kumartoli along the banks of the BURIGONGA RIVER in BANGLADESH. The construction of this palace was started in the year 1859 and was completed in 1869. It is constructed in the Indo-Saracenic Revival architecture. To preserve the cultural and history of the area, the palace became the Bangladesh National Museum on 20 September 1992.
