There are some people making very high incomes working for a big company but that's not truly wealthy - not when you have to work 60 or 70 hours a week, plus travel in heavy traffic each way.

Up until the New Economy, going to work every day was the only real way. That was called Industrial Age work practices - much like our parents and grandparents did.

I am a very visual person, I am constantly looking at everything! Lately my eyes have been hurting. My vision has gotten worse in the last few months. It’s making me feel horrible! First set up a website and publish its domain name on major search directories such as Google.com, Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?...... and MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these search directories to provide them with goods and services. In a sense, these search directories are a very large Internet Yellow Pages.

Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage fail to contain "generic" keywords, then anyone using such "generic" queries will not be able to discover
your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website, in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable.

You may want to consider some simple algorithms which, when observed and committed in designing of a website with placement of various critical metatags that can surely achieve a high search engine presence and increase Internet traffic to your website. These metatag strategies work well with published webpages at Google and Yahoo.

Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based website, make sure to fill-in the property entries such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the Internet audience and their incoming setup. For example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages take too long to load up and therefore analog users will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the Flash site. Placement of Metatags: A ranking or search order does take place with Google and Yahoo and it begins with the "Title" metag which should consist of no more than 65 characters separated by commas. The "Title" should describe in generic terms, the goods and services, followed by a location from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state. The placement of a domain name which is not generic within the "Title" is not appropriate, unless your domain name is a major recognizable brand name.

The second metatag is the "Description" which is usually 25-30 words to form a complete sentence which best describes one's goods and services.

And the very last category - "Keywords" are also somewhat limited to 15-16 words which can be plural and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries which could be mistaken as "spamdexed entries" which is defined as the loading, and submission of repetitive words into a particular metatag category. "Spamdexing" when discovered on a webpage and reported to Google's spamreport.com can result in the elimination of your website from their search directory.

Here's an example of a very highly-placed website on Google.com: Begin with the very "generic" search query "sandwiches downtown los angeles," taking note to not abbreviate Los Angeles to "LA" and of course, leave out the parentheses ("). It will bring up some 2.4 million+ search results. Check out where "Nazos.net" is ranked. It's ranked No. 1! Again, Nazos.net's high web presence was achieved by proper web design and placement of relevant metatags according to Google's publication guidelines.

Internet is a great think as we all know. But with zillions of web pages it's hard to find what you're looking for. But wait! that's why they invented "Search engines" such as Yahoo. Right?!? But!! what is this? every time I search in yahoo or google I get gazillion possible web pages matching my search criteria!! well, that's a problem by itself, but today I want to focus on "Home-based businesses", I can't use this information because results are either scam or Non-realistic get-rich-overnight-schemes (or scams?) that are a waste of time.

If it were really that easy to make money on the internet, everyone would do it. This would drive the price down cheaper and cheaper making it less profitable.

Any business with low barriers to entry (cheap to get into) usually don't pay that well.

Selling books on amazon.com or objects on ebay can give you a decent source of extra income. But doing it full-time is very hard work for the money you'd be making.

Some ebays who are successful buy in bulk, and then sell it individually. They can make money, but anyone making much spends a lot of time at it, and you have to be very organized and have lots of storage rooms. (car seats were one such item that was in vogue)

Again, even in that operation the more doing it, the less profitable as people find what sells and hop in.

But I'd forget about it as a job. There's no magic golden goose eggs.

I use different tactics, depending on what I'm selling. Keep in mind that in most cases you will want and/or need a tracking number, so the minimum cost for US postage on a package is $3.95 for priority mail, plus $.50 for tracking delivery confirmation. For a letter with delivery confirmation, the minimum postage is $2.79, because you can't just add a $.50 delivery confirmation to a $.39 stamp.

So that's your starting point for costs.

IMHO, you're best off to only charge the actual shipping cost. I think it works out well, because people are willing to bid higher on the item if they feel like you're not ripping them off on shipping charges.

Special situations:
A) Item is large/heavy/fragile. I sold a mountain bike on eBay and I figured that only people physically nearby would be interested. But I didn't want to exclude anybody, and I also didn't want to waste a bunch of time figuring the shipping cost in advance. So, I just wrote "Buyer can pickup item in person, or pay actual shipping costs." As it happened the winning bidder was 1,500 miles away and the shipping cost was nearly $50. Very glad I didn't just guess, because I would have lost money on a bad guess of $20 or $30.

B) Concert tickets. The couple of times I've sold concert tickets, I've listed "FREE SHIPPING" knowing that it'll cost me $4.50, but that the high demand should make it worthwhile. NOTE: I think this tactic only works with sports or concert tickets in very high demand.

I saved enough money to travel around the country... each day I would look at a photo of where I wanted to go to inspire me. I began putting a 10% of my salary into my savings account without fail and it's been great. If you put it in savings right away then you can't spend it! On top of that I've been cutting back on unnecessary things but I still treat myself every now and then.

I also began putting all of my change into my piggy bank and it's amazing to see how much money accumulates from just change.

You never really know just how much you’ve improved until you have the opportunity to make the same mistakes and bad decisions that you did in the past and you do things differently.

To avoid writing an annoyingly long blog, I will say this. Yesterday, I faced a situation that normally brought out the worst of my pessimistic tendencies…and I handled it just the way I always envisioned myself handling it: with patience, poise and a positive outlook.

3. Find a positive angle.
Everyone experiences setbacks, but be careful not to allow a negative turn of events to color your view of the world. Look for something in the scenario that will help you learn and grow, and focus on that as you weather through.

4. Look for the good in people.
It’s easy to ruminate on your friends’ and family members’ flaws, as I’m sure there are many of them. But by having unrealistic expectations of what people should do or how they should act, you’re setting yourself up for disappointment. The truth is that most people mean well, even if they screw up every now and then.

5. Be thankful for the big things.

I am new at my job and want to be better at it, more efficient, if you will. I love what i do "office work" and want to find ways to better my job and all it entitles. My bosses are wonderful people and i am very lucky to be in the position i am in. I just want to do all i can, everyday and know that i put fourth my best effort. I love my job it fits in perfectly with my lifestyle. I can sleep in and work the closing shift. It is physically undemanding, so i have energy to clean my house and run errands when i get home. I can make posts on the internet, and it is the highest paying job i can get in town without some kind of training or degree. I love it, that's why i want to be a good employee. I figure that if i make myself an asset to this place they will be less likely to let me go or watch me to closely. I want to keep this job.

The issue of racism.

I was watching The Tyra Banks Show with my sister last night on Oxygen. They had an episode where many bi-racial women were not accepting their African-American heritage. They have tried bleaching, even with bleach that you use for clothes. One woman said that she accepted her Caucasian part and hated her African-American heritage, even though she clearly had darker skin. She said she couldn't stand most African-Americans and thought that Caucasians were above African-Americans. She even took a picture in a KKK hood "as a joke". Even being Caucasian, I still found it offensive.

Has society made it to where color is important? To me, I am not racist. I refuse to judge a person by the color of their skin. I was taught at an early age that everyone is different, but they are human just like us. They eat, sleep, breathe, and use the restroom just like everyone else. They may have a different culture and a different way of doing things, but they also have feelings. Your life shouldn't be about what skin color everyone else has. I know most racism comes from ignorance and how some people were raised. But everyone is beautiful, inside and out. A person should be judge by the color of their skin but who they are on the inside.

I am from the PHILIPPINES and typically if we want to be in a romantic relationship with someone we use words like 'i love you' (mahal kita) or 'soul mate' to indicate that type of relationship. But, if we are referring to a friendships, we say things like 'friends' (kaibigan) or 'best friends' or other words that are far less strong than anything we would use to reference a relationship where we were romantically involved. Why do I bring this up? Well, lately I've been getting a lot of emails from people saying that they wanted to find 'lasting love' or that they were looking for a 'soul mate' and things of this nature. But, these emails were pretty business like in tone other than that and many times they were from other females. Not that I have a problem with someone homosexually interested in me. If I'm not interested, I'm not interested, regardless of the gender of the person into me. These emails are also all from people in other countries and this got me to thinking.

Do people in other cultures blurr the lines more than people in my culture? Also on some social networking sites a lot of guys leave me messages saying 'hey beautiful' or something like that and I notice these people from other countries sometimes use English words as 'best translation' from their own language , but because there are so many double meaning words in our language it doesn't translate the same. So, can someone please explain this too me. I'd like to know am I getting a dumping of people interested in me? Or is this just a mix up in understanding and these people really just want a platonic friendship.
