1) Compensatory Afforestation Fund Bill, 2015:

Lok Sabha passed the Compensatory Afforestation Fund bill, 2015 for setting up of a National Compensatory Afforestation Fund and also a State Compensatory Afforestation Fund so as to utilize the unspent 41000 crore rupees earmarked for forest land.

2) E-enabled application, Project Management & Information System (PMIS):

Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu launched e-enabled application, Project Management & Information System (PMIS) in New Delhi for monitoring of all the Railway projects throughout the country.

3) Protecting People through Nature, Report:

World Wildlife Fund (WWF) published a report titled ‘Protecting people through nature’ with the subtitle ‘Natural world heritage sites as Drivers of sustainable development.’

As per report, nearly half of the iconic 229 natural and mixed World Heritage sites in 96 countries around the world, including Western Ghats, are facing significant threats.

4) Special Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics:

The Selection Committee of the Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics conferred a Special Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics for detection of gravitational waves.

It is a 3 million dollar award.

5) EXIM Analytics Dashboard for export, import data:

To provide easy access to detailed trade performance of the country, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman launched EXIM Analytics Dashboard.

The portal developed by the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics.

International Monetary Fund (IMF) Regional Economic Outlook for Asia and the Pacific said that India will have 7.5 percent growth in 2016 and 2017.

7) Mark Selby won World Snooker Championship.

8) 63rd National Film Awards:

President Pranab Mukherjee conferred National film awards for the year 2015.

Dada Saheb Phalke Award was conferred to Manoj Kumar.

Amitabh Bachchan received the Best Actor for his role in Piku.

Kangana Ranaut received the Best Actress Award for Tanu Weds Manu Returns.

9) World Press Freedom Day:

The World Press Freedom Day was observed across the world.

The theme was Access to Information and Fundamental Freedoms - This Is Your Right.

10) For NCR-Delhi, Supreme Court banned all diesel cabs from May 1.

11) RM Lodha-panel to reform Medical Council of India:

The Supreme Court of India appointed a three-member panel headed by former Chief Justice of India (CJI) RM Lodha to watch the functions of the Medical Council of India, the regulator of medical profession and education in India.

12) Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2015:

Rajya Sabha passed Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2015 seeking to regulate the mining sector in the country.

1) International Labour Day/ International Worker's Day:

On 1 May 2016, International Labour Day was celebrated.

The theme was Celebrating the international labour movement.

The theme assumes further significance with economic relationships undergoing rapid change in the emerging global economic order.

About 80 countries across the world declared it as national holiday.

2) Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana:

Prime Minister launched the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) at Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. It will benefit the poor, especially the women aims at providing cooking gas connections to 5 crore BPL beneficiaries over the next three years.

3) Chandranna Bima Yojana:

On the occasion of International Labour Day, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched Chandranna Bima Yojana in Vijayawada.

It is an insurance scheme for the working class people covering about 1.5 crore workers of the state.

Any insured worker who meets an accidental death and permanent disability will be paid 5 lakh rupees.

Worker who suffers partial disability will be paid a sum of 3 lakh rupees.

4) Underground corridor of Namma Metro:

Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the underground corridor of Bangalore Metro Rail.

Bangalore Metro Rail is also known as Namma Metro.

The newly inaugurated underground section from Cubbon Park to City railway station which is also called Purple Line, will be operational from 6 am daily.

5) Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act 2016:

Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 came into force would help making necessary operational rules and setting up institutional infrastructure for the interests of consumers.

6) Adi Praman, online app for tribal caste validity certificate:

Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao launched Adi Praman, a web-based application to provide caste validity certificates online, first time in any state.

7) Madhya Pradesh High Court stated that the reservation to underprivileged during appointments is logical but reservation in promotions in the State as unconstitutional.

Under the Convention of International Civil Aviation at Chicago to promote international air services between their respective territories, India and New Zealand signed an Air Services Agreement for introduction of direct flights between the two countries.

2) Union Government banned import of dogs for commercial breeding

Union government issued a notification banning the import of dogs for commercial breeding. The imports are allowed only for research or defence purposes.

3) Naveen Patnaik inaugurated 100 rural drinking water projects

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated 100 piped water supply projects for rural areas. T

he CM also pledged to make piped water provision in all gram panchayats by 2017.

4) Rajya Sabha passed the Industries Amendment Bill, 2015

The Rajya Sabha passed the Industries (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2015.

The bill seeks to amend the Industries (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951.

It proposes to bring industries engaged in the manufacture of potable alcohol under the exclusive control of States in all respects.

5) 29 April: Day of Remembrance for all Victims of Chemical Warfare

The Day was observed on 29 April 2016 by the United Nations (UN).

6) NITI Aayog launched urban management programme for capacity building of states and urban local bodies.

7) Gujarat government announced 10 percent reservation for EBCs

Gujarat government announced 10 percent reservation for economically backward classes (EBCs) in general category.

EBCs in the upper castes, include Patidars, with a family income cap of 6 lakh rupees a year that is 50000 rupees per month can avail the benefit.

8) UJALA Scheme launched in Madhya Pradesh

Union Minister for State (IC) for Power, Coal and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal launched National LED programme -Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA) in Madhya Pradesh.

9) Nelson Mandela Award

Tabassum Adnan, a women’s rights activist from Swat valley of Pakistan, won the prestigious Mandela - Graça Machel Innovation Award 2016 in Bogota, Colombia.

She won the award for the individual activist category.

To check the price rise in sugar and to reduce hoarding by wholesalers and retailers, Union Cabinet decided to bring sugar under the purview of stock holding limits on dealers by the state governments.

5) Jail term for chain snatchers:

The Maharashtra government increased the Jail term for chain snatching up to 5 years rigorous imprisonment with a fine of 25000 rupees.

6) 5% interest subsidy for flood-hit traders:

Jammu and Kashmir government approved five percent interest subvention with a cap of five lakh rupees per unit for a period of four years, that is, up to 31 December 2020 for flood-hit traders.

7) India may surpass China in attracting FDI:

The Japanese financial services firm, Nomura announced that due to ongoing reforms in India, India may surpass China in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in 2016, in terms of percentage of its GDP.

8) To implement Justice RM Lodha committee recommendations, Gopal Subramanium appointed as amicus curiae.

9) A Fire destroyed National Museum of Natural History in New Delhi.

Two lakh Government jobs to be created in India

It’s a very good news for all the aspirants who are seeking Government jobs In India. Central Govt. will recruit more than two lakh aspirants for jobs in various govt. departments.

The major reason for the sudden increase in hiring of employees is that many government departments are facing crucial situation in Group B and C categories because of temporary vacancies on fresh recruitment for the past few years. According to personnel ministry, more than 6 lakhs seats are empty at various central government departments.

Modi Government has decided to create new jobs and also to fill all existing vacant posts which may create more than two lakh govt. jobs in India.

The Central government has projected in the budget estimates for 2016-17 an increase of about 2.18 lakh in the existing workforce of 33.05 lakh, as in 2015, by 2017.

The biggest increase is expected to be made in the revenue department with 70,000 employees which includes income tax, customs and excise departments also.

Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh said on April 25, 2016 that the projection has been made after due consideration and keeping in mind the futuristic vision of the government. “The government, wherever required, takes into consideration creation of new posts.

The Cabinet Secretariat has already asked all ministries to mention “employment generation potential” in each scheme while seeking approval of the Union Cabinet and its Committees.

The government has started taking important initiatives by creating new government jobs in India and also by filling the backlog vacancies in various government departments in India.

Football club Mohun Bagan and Indian striker Jeje Lalpekhlua won the Football Players Association of India (FPAI) Indian Player of the Year award.

Nigerian striker Ranti Martins was named the Foreign Player of the Year.

4) Draft of Supreme Court Judge (Investigation Act) 2016 approved by Bangladesh Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

5) First time 2018 Commonwealth Judo Championships to be held in India:

The Judo Federation of India (JFI) announced that India will host the Commonwealth Judo Championships 2018.

6) Sikh Gurdwaras (Amendment) Bill, 2016:

The Lok Sabha passed the Sikh Gurdwaras (Amendment) Bill, 2016. The bill propose removal of an exception made for Sahajdharis in 1944 that allowed them to vote in elections for the Board and committees instituted under the Act.

7) Indo-Mongolia Joint Military Exercise, Nomadic Elephant – 2016:

Nomadic Elephant – 2016, the 11th Indo-Mongolia joint training Exercise commenced on 25 April 2016 in Mongolia for promoting military associations between India and Mongolia and to fight in Counter Insurgency and Counter Terrorism environment under the United Nation mandate.

8) World Intellectual Property Day 2016:

On 26 April 2016, The World Intellectual Property Day 2016 was observed globally.

The theme was Digital Creativity: Culture Reimagined.

9) India's first online interactive portal – Sahapedia:

The Union Government launched India's first online interactive portal on the cultural heritage of the country, Sahapedia.org. It’s a collection of resources on the diverse heritage of India.

It is non-profit society, headed by S. Ramadorai, who is the head of the National Skill Development Agency.

10) Regional Centre for Biotechnology Bill, 2016:

The Lok Sabha passed the Regional Centre for Biotechnology Bill, 2016 to provide statutory status to the existing Regional Centre for Biotechnology in Faridabad, Haryana.

Japan successfully tested the maiden flight of its first domestically developed stealth fighter jet X-2.

Stealth aircrafts are designed to avoid detection mainly by using a variety of stealth technologies.

3) New Prime Minister of Congo Appointed

Congo’s President Denis Sassou Nguesso has appointed Mouamba Clement as the new Prime Minister of the central African country.

4) The Union Government has launched India’s first online heritage portal named Sahapedia.

The web portal is a collaborative knowledge resource on the arts, culture and heritage of India.

5) Union Government constituted inter ministerial panel to double farmers’ income by 2022.

The panel will be headed by Ashok Dalwai, Additional Secretary at the Union Agriculture Ministry.

The panel will prepare a plan to shift farm policies from being production-oriented to income based ones.

6) Bollywood Actor Salman Khan named as Indian contingent’s Goodwill Ambassador for 2016 Rio Olympics.

1) Trade Facilitation Agreement of WTO:

India ratified the new Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) of World trade Organisation (WTO). It will help India in enhancing economic growth by cutting trade costs and supporting its integration at global level.

India became 76^th WTO member to accept the TFA.

2) First Indian company to join EP100 campaign:

Mahindra & Mahindra became the first Indian company to join a global energy campaign, EP100, led by an international non-profit group, The Climate Group by committing to double its energy productivity by 2030.

If more companies adopt this campaign, the global fossil fuel bill can be reduced by an estimated 2 trillion Euros and create more than six million jobs globally by 2020.

3) Paris climate agreement at UN:

In New York, Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar signed the historic Paris climate agreement along with other 174 nations at a high-level ceremony hosted by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

The agreement aims at bringing developing and developed nations together to combat global warming by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

4) New Nominated members of Rajya Sabha:

Under Article 80 of the Constitution of India and with the recommendations of the Union government, President Pranab Mukherjee nominated six eminent personalities to Rajya Sabha. President has a provision to nominate 12 members in the Council of States (Rajya Sabha).

The nominated members are:

Subramanian Swamy: a BJP leader from Tamil Nadu.

Narendra Jadhav: a renowned economist and former member of the erstwhile National Advisory Council (2010-14) and Planning Commission (2009-14).

Navjot Singh Sidhu: Former Indian cricketer-turned-politician

Suresh Gopi: a Malayalam actor who acted in over 200 films.

Swapan Dasgupta: a journalist and writer, who worked at senior editorial positions in various publications which include The Indian Express, India Today and The Times of India.

Mary Kom: Legendary boxer and Olympic bronze medallist.

5) Popularly known for raising the profile of the Bond movie brand, Hollywood movie director Guy Hamilton died. He was 93.

3) President' Rule in the State quashed by Uttarakhand High Court:

The Uttarakhand High Court quashed the imposition of President' Rule in the state and revived the term of Congress Government headed by Harish Rawat.

The court said that the President's decision is open to judicial scrutiny.

4) Pakistan, China to launch a special satellite:

Pakistan and China signed an agreement to launch a special satellite to check the development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.

5) 22 April-International Mother Earth Day:
22 April observed as International Mother Earth Day with the theme ‘Trees for the Earth’ having goal of planting 7.8 billion trees over the next five years.

Paris Agreement on Climate Change, also signed on 22 April 2016 at UN Headquarters in New York.

6) 10th Civil Services Day:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 10th Civil Services Day in New Delhi.

7) World’s first region to end malaria:

As per World Health Organization (WHO)’s World Malaria Report 2015, Europe became the first in the world to end malaria with indigenous malaria cases dropped from 90712 in 1995 to zero cases in 2015.

8) Twitter Seva:

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry launched a service named Twitter Seva to address queries and grievances of startups, exporters and importers, and other stakeholders within 48 to 72 working hours.

2) Union Government approved signing of the Paris Agreement:

The Paris Agreement is an agreement within the framework of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change dealing with greenhouse gases emissions mitigation, adaptation and finance starting in the year 2020.

3) Union Cabinet will sign MoU on Technical Cooperation between India and Bhutan.

Govt. Of India gave its approval for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bhutan. The two nations will ink an agreement on technical cooperation in the field of capacity building, benchmarking and bilateral exchange in infrastructure engineering.

4) The RBL Bank became the first private sector bank in India to open dedicated branch for start-ups.

The dedicated branch was opened at Koramangala, Bengaluru.The branch will assist entrepreneurs in setting up new enterprises or companies.

The RBL Bank is a scheduled commercial bank headquartered in the Kolhapur, Maharashtra.

5) Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan, a centrally sponsored scheme launched on 21 February 2014, has been merged with Khelo India programme by the Union Govt.

6) Four Organisations formed Platform for Collaboration on Tax:

The International Monetary Fund (IMF), The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), The United Nations (UN) and The World Bank Group (WBG) joined hands to form the Platform for collaboration in Tax Matters.

The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee presented the Hindi Sevi Samman Awards for the years 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Fourteen scholars receive this award in seven different categories every year for their contribution in the field of Hindi language and literature.

2) George Grierson prize for promoting Hindi

Chinese professor Ge Fuping has been honoured by President Pranab Mukherjee with the George Grierson prize for his remarkable works done for the propagation of Hindi abroad.

These awards were instituted by Central Hindi Institute, Agra in 1989.

3)World Press Freedom Index

The 2016 World Press Freedom Index was released by Reporters Without Borders (RSF).

The Index ranks 180 countries according to the freedom allowed journalists.

Who was at the top position?

Finland retained its top position for the sixth consecutive year, followed by the Netherlands and Norway.

Who was at the last position?

Eritrea was at the last position i.e. 180^th.

About World Press Freedom Index

The Index is published annually by RSF since 2002.

It is based on an evaluation of media freedom that measures pluralism, media independence, the quality of the legal framework and the safety of journalists in 180 countries.

4) India ranked 133rd in 2016 World Press Freedom Index

India with a score of 43.17 was ranked 133 in the 2016 which means progress of just 03 ranks from the previous year i.e. 2015 in which India ranked 133 out of 180 countries.

5) New CEO of BCCI appointed

5) BRICS Bank or New Development Bank approved its first set of loans

The New Development Bank (NDB), formerly referred to as the BRICS Development Bank, approved its first set of loans valued at 811 million US dollars.

The loan will be used by four BRICS countries namely Brazil, India, China and South Africa to create 2370 MW of renewable energy capacity.

NDB is backed by the BRICS countries - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

6) First woman DGP of Gujarat Appointed

2) World’s 50 Future-ready Cities

National Capital of India, Delhi has been ranked 44th among the world’s 50 ‘future-ready economies cities’ that are embracing technology for growth which was revealed by the recently released report ‘Future-Ready Economies Model’ by the Information Technology major Dell.

The list is topped by San Jose. The cities were positioned in the list were evaluated along three dimensions human capital, infrastructure and commerce.

3) Google extends free internet service through WiFi at Bhubaneshwar railway station

Google rolled out free Wi-Fi service at Bhubaneswar railway station on 17 April 2016.

The free internet service was extended as part of Google’s tie up with Railtel, the internet provider arm of Indian Railways.

Bhubaneswar railway station became the second station to be covered under the Google-RailTel Wi-Fi project, the first was Mumbai Central Railway Station which was provided with wifi facility in January 2016.

Further, trials are going on at about 10 more stations which include Jaipur, Patna, Ranchi, Ernakulum, Allahabad, Lucknow and Guwahati.

4) Satyanand Munjal passes away

The co-founder of Hero Cycles group Satyanand Munjal passed away in Ludhiana, Punjab.

He had co-founded the Hero Group, which has now emerged as one of the largest business conglomerates in India.

5) Supercomputer Param Kanchenjunga unveiled

Supercomputer Param Kanchenjunga was unveiled at the National Institute of Technology, Sikkim. It has been named after Kangchenjunga mountain, the third highest mountain in the world.

Param Kanchenjunga has been jointly developed by Pune-based Centre for Development of Advanced Computing ‘C-DAC’ and the NIT Sikkim at a cost of three crore rupees.

The Delhi government has banned for one year the sale, purchase and storage of all forms of chewable tobacco, including guthka, pan masala etc. in the Capital.

3) National Agriculture Market:

On 125th birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched e-NAM, the e-trading platform for the National Agriculture Market for farmers.

In the initial stage 21 mandis in 8 states linked to e-NAM and 200 mandis will be linked by September 2016 and 585 mandis by March 2018. Using this portal, the farmers can sell or buy the agricultural products.

4) Phase 2 of odd-even scheme:

Delhi Government implemented the second phase of odd-even car rationing scheme from 15 April 2016 in the capital till 30 April 2016 from 8 AM to 8 PM, excluding Sundays.

Under the scheme four-wheelers with odd registration numbers will ply on odd dates and those with even numbers on even dates.

However, President, Vice President, Prime Minister, Union Ministers and other VIPs have been exempted. Besides, vehicles driven by women, emergency vehicles, CNG vehicles and cars carrying school children in uniforms are also exempted.

It’s violation will have a penalty of Rupees 2000.

5) Panagarh airbase renamed as Air Force Station Arjan Singh:

Panagarh Air Force Base of West Bengal was renamed as Air Force Station Arjan Singh as a rare honour to the nation’s oldest soldier Marshal of Air Force Arjan Singh.

Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh, 97, had led the Indian Air Force (IAF) in the 1965 India-Pakistan war.

4) India successfully test fired Nuclear-capable K-4 undersea ballistic missile successfully from INS Arihant.

K-4, having a range of over 3500 km, is a nuclear capable intermediate-range submarine-launched ballistic missile under development by DRDO to arm the Arihant-class submarines.

5) “Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday Abhiyan” launched in Madhya Pradesh

PM Modi launched “Gram Uday Se Bharat UdayAbhiyan” in Madhya Pradesh. The Abhiyan was launched on the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar at his birthplace to strengthen Panchayati Raj in villages.

The aim of this campaign is to make nationwide efforts to strengthen Panchayati Raj, boost social harmony in the villages, promote rural development and foster farmers’ welfare & livelihoods of the poor.

6) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched ‘Mission Drinking Water’ to deal with recurring droughts and severe water crisis in Marathwada and Vidarbha region of the state.

India and Germany signed agreement (for Ganga Rejuvenation )on Namami Gange Programme.

SBI Clerk Exam 2016 Syllabus

SYLLABUS FOR JUNIOR ASSOCIATES (CUSTOMER SUPPORT & SALES) AND JUNIOR AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATES IN CLERICAL CADRE EXAM OF STATE BANK OF INDIA

SBI had recently issued the notification for the recruitment of candidates in Clerical Cadre. This time too lakhs of candidates will apply for this job and therefore the competition in SBI Junior Associate & SBI Agricultural Associates / SBI Clerical Cadre will be tough. So, you have to prepare hard for SBI Clerk exam 2016.

In this post we will describe in brief the pattern and syllabus of SBI Clerk / SBI Junior Associates and Junior Agricultural Associate Exam 2016.

1)Pattern of SBI Clerk Exam 2016:

Candidates appearing in the SBI Clerk 2016 examination make a notice of following points that the pattern is different from the last SBI Clerk exam.

A)Preliminary Examination: SBI Clerk Preliminary Exam Pattern 2016 for Preliminary exam consists of 100 objective questions carrying 100 marks and the time given is 1 hour. The Candidates will be required to qualify in each section. It’s an objective type paper.

There will be 03 sections:

a) English Language : 30 questions

b) Quantitative aptitude : 35 questions

c) Reasoning ability : 35 questions

B) Main Examination: It’s also an objective type paper. The time duration for SBI Clerk Main Examination is 2 hour 40 minutes. Main examination will consist of 190 objective-type questions of 200 marks. The questions will be asked from various sections– General Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability and Computer Aptitude.

The following sections are in the SBI Clerk Main exam:

a)Reasoning & Computers : 50 questions and will be of 60 marks

b)English language : 40 questions and will be of 40 marks

c)Quantitative aptitude: 50 questions and will be of 50 marks

d)General awareness/ Financial Awareness : 50 questions and will be of 50 marks

C) Negative Marking: The candidate should remember that 1/4th mark will be deducted for each wrong answer in the SBI Clerk Exam Pattern 2016.

D) Interview (subject to Govt. of India approval): Candidates who will qualify in the main examination will be placed according to their marks in descending order in respective categories. Depending upon the number of vacancies, high ranked candidates in the merit will be called for interview in the ratio of maximum 3 candidates for each vacancy. Candidates are required to score a minimum percentage as decided by the bank to be considered for final selection.

E) Test of knowledge of official/ local language in SBI Clerk exam pattern 2016: Candidates who have studied official (local) language and have produced 10th standard mark sheet/certificate having evidence for the same, will be exempted from the language test. For others, language test will be conducted at the time of interview.

Important Note: The scores obtained by the candidates in the Preliminary exam will not be considered for the preparation of the final merit list. Only the scores obtained in the Main and Interview will be added for the same (if interview is held).

The Information & Broadcasting ministry constituted a three-member committee, headed by former Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon, in compliance with the Supreme Court directions dated 13 May 2015 to check violations of the Supreme Court guidelines with regard to content in government advertising.

The Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity would facilitate day to day functioning of the committee.

2) President Pranab Mukherjee conferred Padma Awards 2016:

The Union Government announced Padma awards 2016 for 112 eminent personalities on 26 January 2016. 56 members among them received awards on 28 March 2016 while remaining 56 members who received the awards are:

3) Delhi government launched PoochhO Carpool app:

Delhi government on 12 April 2016 launched PoochhO Carpool app to help people finding car pooling options during the 15-day exercise of the odd-even car-rationing scheme. The second phase of the scheme set to begin from 15 April 2015.

PoochhO Carpool app was developed by Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS). It can be downloaded on Google Play store for Android users.

4) Kerala High Court banned noise-making fireworks at night in all places of worship:

Kerala High Court on 12 April 2016 banned noise-making firework displays between sunset and sunrise in all places of worship in the state.

4) International Boxing Federation Heavyweight Championship:

Anthony Joshua, the 2012 Olympic gold medalist, won the International Boxing Federation heavyweight title. He knocked out Charles Martin in the second round at the O2 Arena in London.

5) Master Golf Championship

Danny Willett won the US Masters Golf Championship. Willett grabbed the title after defeating defending champion Jordan Spieth.

The 2016 Masters Tournament was the 80th edition of the Masters Tournament. It was held from 7 April to 10 April 2016 at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.

6) C Silvera, former MP, died

Former Union Minister and Congress leader C Silvera died in Tuikhuahtlang, Aizawl district of Mizoram.

He was the first and so far the only Mizo to be in the union council of ministers.

Modi meets French President Francois Hollande and discusses defence, nuclear, economy, cultural and educational ties.

India and France inked 17 agreements, including in the field of railways, space and civil nuclear energy.

India is hoping that French companies will participate in the ‘Make in India’ programme initiated by Mr. Modi.

After wrapping up the first leg of his tour, Modi will head to Germany, where business and technology will be the focus his engagements aimed at attracting participation in the ‘Make in India’ campaign.

In the last leg of his tour, Mr. Modi will travel to Canada, marking the first standalone visit by an Indian Prime Minister in over 42 years.

The winners of this year's FBB Femina Miss India have been announcedand Delhi girl Priyadarshini Chatterjee has bagged the crown for FBB Femina Miss India World and she will now go on to represent India at the Miss World 2016 pageant.

Bangalore girl Sushruthi Krishna emerged as the 1st runner-up and Lucknow girl PankhuriGidwani was the 2nd runner-up of the contest.

What’s different in this year’s SSC CGL Exam 2016? :

Detailed Syllabus of SSC CGL Combined Graduate Level Tier 1 Exam 2016

A. General Intelligence & Reasoning : The reasoning section of SSC Combined Graduate Level exam is very easy as compare to bank exams. They ask basic questions from the following topics:

Analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc.

B. General Awareness: If you want to crack SSC Combined Graduate Level Exam 2016 then you have to concentrate the maximum on this section. Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy & Scientific Research..

C. Numerical Aptitute : This section of SSC Combined Graduate Level Exam is very difficult as compare to other 03 sections. So, prepare the least for this section.

The questions will be designed to test the ability of appropriate use of numbers and number sense of the candidate. The scope of the test will be the computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions and relationships between numbers. It will test sense of order among numbers, ability to translate from one name to another, sense or order of magnitude, estimation or prediction of the outcome of computation, selection of an appropriate operation for the solution of real life problems and knowledge of alternative computation procedures to find answers. The questions would also be based on arithmetical concepts and relationship between numbers and not on complicated arithmetical computation (The standard of the questions will be of 10+2 level).

D. English Comprehension: Candidates’ ability to understand correct English, his basic comprehension and writing ability, etc. would be tested. Questions will be based on will be based onspot the error, fill in the blanks, synonyms, antonyms, spelling/detecting mis-spelt words, idioms & phrases, one word substitutions etc.
