I have a lot of tax debt (45k), this is my main debt, i only owe about another 10k to credit cards. Will a proposal work, I just can`t afford to make payments any longer.

I have heard that the laws for student loans have changed if you file for bankruptcy. Bu I can`t figure out if this is the same for proposals? Can you help me?

Hi, I don`t know if you can help me or not, but here it goes.

First, I filed bankruptcy 4 years ago. Since then I have rebuilt my credit, I have a decent job, I have a credit card that I owe $2000 on, I have a car loan that sits at $15000 and a small line of credit that I have only used $500 of.

The problem isn`t my debt, last year I did somehting stupid. I co-signed a car loan for a friendI.

Right now this isn`t causing me any trouble. But my friend has a little bit of a drinking problem, which resulted in him loosing his job and I have bene getting very worried

The thing I need to know is whether or not there is a way to get out of this? like would the bank even consider tranfering that loan to the car owners name? I’d hate to go bankrupt again cause only i’d be the loser and my friend still keeps the car, but than for the next 5 years I cant buy my house I know I could get without this loan on my back. I cant get a 3000$ loan I would need for my training and so on and so on.

I have a friend who told me that I can`t file bankruptcy on outstanding taxes. Is this right?

They also told me a bankruptcy would last for 7 years, is this true?

RESP`s and bankruptcy

I have two children and they both have RESP’s. We have to claim bankruptcy.

If we simply closed the RESP`s before we filed bankruptcy and put the money in the kids bank accounts will this cause any problems. Afterall the money is for our kids university.

impact of a bankruptcy on a sole proprietorship

I have a sole proprietorship. But I personally owe a lot of money to a variety of credit card companies and on a line of credit. I want to file for bankruptcy. Would that affect the business? Can I file for bankruptcy and not impact the business? I would really like to continue the business.

If the business is affected by the bankruptcy, do I have to change the name of the business, or can the same name of the business be used?

My mother is considering the filing of a Bankruptcy. If she does what will happen to her RIF. She only has her 2 pensions that she gets each month on top of a small amount of her RIF and I think she desparately needs it to live. Will she loose the RIF?

I have worked for the Government for over 22 years, if i file for bankruptcy will i loose my pension? Can my creditors come after my pension?
