Kite is from the small Caribbean island of Barbados and have been strutting their stuff since 2004, receiving wide radio airplay and developing a large, loyal following through their live performances.

iLandRock

Kite got together in Barbados in 2003 and after their honourable mention at the Billboard World Songwriting Contest in 2003, they released of their debut album, 'Up In The Air', in 2004 and got consistent regional radio airplay from then on. 'Up In The Air' saw them working with top Caribbean producer Jeremy Harding (Sean Paul producer/manager). The spot-on combination of big, radio-ready songs and use of steel pan and 'vintage' Reggae guitar in their 'iLandRock' sound made a big impression on the booming music scene in the Caribbean. They just didn't sound like anybody else. They just sounded right (or 'tight', as they say in the Caribbean').

Kite Festival

Kite headlined Culture Shock, the Caribbean's premier international pop/rock festival on the beach in Bridgetown, Barbados featuring bands from the U.S.A., Canada, The U.K., Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados. They also returned in from the Florida Music Festival where they were the only band from outside North America selected to showcase and after their performance were signed to a deal by RipTide Music from LA.

Altitude

Kite songs have been featured on several Prime Time North American TV shows and in film:

Ghost Whisperer (CBS)

Degrassi (2 songs) (CBC [Canada], MTV Overdrive)

Lincoln Heights (ABC Family)

Jericho (CBS)

90210 (The CW Network)

“The Stone Angel” (Alliance Films) (Trailer)

Kite's music continues to grow, with their song 'Fading Fast'

featuring Barbadian rapper Billy Kincaid receiving airplay on

BBC's 1Extra radio show, and 'Firefly' charting on the

Garageband Pop/Rock charts for many months on the top 20.

Kite played support for James Blunt on January 14, 2009

Kite Wire

Kite are currently recording their new EP, 'Drive-In of Dreams', and 'Spinning' is the first single off their new EP for 2010.

Kite have been selected to perform at South By South West 2010 in Austin, Texas.

Nominated for 5 Barbados Music Awards this Diva in the making can be simplified as Fiery, Sensual, Beautiful and Fierce. Young Tonya Tejay Montague has risen to become the hottest female vocalist in Barbados music arena. Like so many others, Tejay began her singing career in the church where she performed in numerous choirs and groups. However, her smooth, alto voice and thirst for success were destined to take her to far bigger stages.

Tejay joined the award-winning gospel group 'Instruments of Praise', which allowed her to expand beyond the gospel realm into the more secular area of Caribbean Jazz, and led to her first recording project as a background vocalist on the group's debut CD 'First Steps'. Those first steps were certainly that, as appearances at Barbados Gospel Fest and later the acclaimed Barbados Jazz Festival soon followed. She also lent her voice on vocals for major artists like Danah, Jesus Army, K.D.B and Keanne with her popular track “Scream”.

Emerging from the background, Tejay finally took her talent where it belonged- center stage- when she joined Strategy in November, 2004 as the sole female vocalist. With each performance she brings sophistication and style to the stage. Her gospel background belies the ease with which she delivers on the group's calypso and R&B tracks, yet her church-honed soulful vocal delivery sets her apart from her contemporaries. With Strategy she got the opportunity to share the stage with major international stars such as Fat Joe, Dru Hill, Ne-Yo, Rihanna, Terror Squaq, Sean Paul, Maxi Priest and soca royals such as Alison Hinds, Rupee and the Dot Com Band, Kevin Lyttle, Mr. Vegas, Edwin Yearwood, Krosfyah and Bunji Garlin. She not only shared the stage in Barbados, but also the Helen Of The West Indies, St. Lucia. She performed as part of the massive BK Fashion Weekend, that was attended by the who’s who of the international music, film and fashion industries, and shortly after performed in the United Kingdom.

Her debut album Summer Kisses and music video – Chimmie Papa, released locally and International has been receiving chart success in the Japan market. Tejay has worked with various producers in the Caribbean such as Danny Champaigne and Fewwture Productions. She has collaborated with artiste such as Voicemail, Tenza of the group Fyah, Kirk Brown, Italist and Rasbrando and she now accompanies one of Barbados’s most popular artiste Lil Rick on the Facebook Riddim.

It is without a doubt that she is one to watch for in the future not only as a singer and a performer but also a skilled songwriter who is destined for true success.

Jody Smith (Jo-D)

A mix vocal tone which sometimes can be mistaken for that of Maxwell, blended together with the smooth rich sound of Tevin Campbell, Jody Smith is considered a breath of fresh air on the Barbados music scene. His first time on stage was at the Richard Stoute Teen Talent Contest at age 14. Since then he has made appearances at the Teen Talent show sometimes as a guest artiste and at his alma mater (xxxx) during special functions. In 2007 he sang at the Barbados Hip Hop festival performing a song called ‘Back to Business and Fresh’ with Rubytech and he also sang in the 2008 wooing the crowd with his singles 'So Into You'. At 23 years old, Jody has excellent prospects of being a successful singer songwriter. This versatile artiste performs a range of styles from R & B and Soul to Hip Hop, Reggae, and Calypso. His interest in the latter music genre is perhaps a reflection of the influence of his father Derick Smith, better known as ‘Simon T’ who participated in several Crop Over Calypso contests on the island. His quest therefore to enter the musical arena should therefore be no surprise since the DNA in his gene pool is coded with musical chromosomes. Recently discovered by music manager Richard Skeete who is a member of the International Music Managers Forum and have several connections throughout the international music arena, Jo-D is destine to be one of the next international recognised acts emerging from Barbados. Presently going through a period of rebranding and development Jo-D is set to re-release several tracks under his new management.

Opening for Erykah Badu and Angie Stone have been the highlights of the band's young career. On both occasions Nexcyx left a crowd of almost 10,000 begging for more. Starting as a six member group they have evolved into a tightly knit, high energy, four member band with a unique sound and style. With their blend of Pop and Hip Hop sprinkled with Rock guitar, this explosive young band never met a crowd that it couldn't rock. The members, Mahalia Phillips-vocals, Andre Clarke – keyboards, Kris Clarke – Bass and Russell Padmore – Guitar honed their skills performing on the club scene in Barbados where they have arguably become the island’s most sought after act. With successful performances in New York and Trinidad along with their new hit single ‘Gossip Girl’ Nexcyx has shown that they are ready to make their mark on the international stage.

It should come as no surprise that the hip hop artist known as Rubytech can sketch lyrical landscapes as easily as breathing. The son of a respected cartoonist and graphic artist and a talented graphic artist himself, creativity is a way of life for this 25 year old Barbadian. Understanding the value of enjoying his own company from an early age, Rubytech began to draw inspiration from new technologies, the television he watched so much as a child and his observations of family and friends. Then the writing talent, along with the other skill in graphic art, gradually began to take shape. By 1999, this self-confessed introvert took the bold move – as part of the duo Billy Kincaid – to step away from the calypso & reggae genres that most Barbadian and Caribbean artistes are known for and hone his writing skills in hip hop. But what began as a hobby quickly became another vehicle for his creative expression and an obvious talent for weaving words over melodic beats. As this talent grew so did the sources of his inspiration: from rock to meringue. After taking a break to handle his responsibilities Rubytech reemerged in 2006 as a solo artist more passionate than ever about his craft. With his religious faith keeping him firmly grounded, life’s experiences have created a wellspring of emotions and analysis to draw on, reflected in the new maturity of his writing. Rubytech’s return to the solid local hip hop scene was cemented with his capturing of the Freestyle title at the 2006 and 2007 Hip Hop Festivals and his first single “Back to Business” being nominated for Best Hip Hop single at the 2007 Barbados Music Awards. Additionally, his first solo LP, “The Official Back to Business Mixtape” hosted by the Boomtribe DJ’s is scheduled for release in September 2007 and has potential to be a hip hop classic. Rubytech has only just begun to scratch the surface of his talent, so expect hip hop’s newest MC to continue to reach for the star.

ABOUT CRS MUSIC & MEDIA LTD….

CRS RECORD LABEL

CRS Music & Media’s record label, is a multi-genre label that represents artists from all over the Caribbean while based in Barbados. Our catalogue of music includes Soca, Calypso, Reggae, Steel pan, Jazz, Alternative, R & B, Christmas Music, Spouge, and more, all with a common denominator that its talented artists are all from the Caribbean, but have universal appeal.

CRS handles the entire distribution and licensing process for our artists’ work. We can offer these same distribution services to other independent Caribbean labels or production houses, giving them a chance to expose their products to a large audience spread throughout the region and the world. Our distribution channels, although concentrated in Barbados and the Caribbean, extend wherever there is a demand for Caribbean-style recordings.

CRS Music & Media’s web site: www.crsmusic.com allows buyers worldwide to go online and purchase physical copies of their favorite Barbadian and Caribbean artists’ recordings. In December 09 CRS launched the online e-distribution with the catalogue available on i-tunes and all major sites available. Our catalogue of music is aggregated via BFM.

This popular, trend-setting record label’s main focus is the artistic development and marketing exposure of talented Caribbean musicians from many different musical styles. The experts in the music industry at CRS Music & Media provide their up-and-coming artists sound marketing ideas for branding, packaging and promoting their music.

The master rights to the music of the artists we represent fall under the CRS record label allowing us to make personalized CDs with tracks from multiple artists.
SOCARIBBEAN INC.

Socaribbean Inc. is a Barbados based entertainment company organized for the promotion of Caribbean music on the international market. We intend to take a creative and unique approach to the marketing and distribution of Caribbean music within and outside the Caribbean, utilizing previously untapped methods and distribution channels. The ultimate goal of SOCARIBBEAN is to have Caribbean music fully recognized as a mainstream genre of music.

The first product produced by our company was a compilation of Caribbean music entitled SOCARIBBEAN .The compilation featured songs from across the Caribbean – including Barbados, Trinidad, Antigua, St. Lucia, Dominica, St. Vincent and Grenada – to ensure that the compilation was reflective of the music of the Caribbean with its varying nuances.

The compilation featured work from well established Barbadian artists such as Alison Hinds and John King, to rising stars such Miguel White and Jabae, who won the Road March with Flames in 2006.

The second release in 2007 included songs from Crop Over in Barbados as well as hits from that year’s recently held Carnivals in Trinidad, St. Vincent and St. Lucia. “Soca Junkie”, which won Road March in that year featured on this compilation, along with TC the current Party Monarch and up-and-coming artist like Ayanna John.

Socaribbean is taking a creative and unique approach to the marketing and distribution of its products within and outside the Caribbean, utilizing previously untapped methods and distribution channels. These include target marketing to regional and international hotels and restaurants, aviation and cruise line industry participants, as well as major record stores and on-line retailers in the top ten sales markets, including the U.S., E.U., Japan, Brazil and Canada.

In addition, Socaribbean will be staging several events and functions throughout the year including Album launches, collaborative developmental work with artist development projects locally and internationally, as well as participation at various international festivals.

We project that aggregate CD sales and online single song distributions alone will exceed 100,000 units in the next three years and, based on our market research, we are confident that we will see over 500,000 guests on our website based on the success of our various projects. In addition, we expect the attendance at international events should range between 1,500 and 5,000+ invited and paying guests per event, and radio and television advertisements for these events will reach audiences of several millions, giving the artists that we work with much needed exposure.

With modest sales in record stores throughout the Caribbean and on-line through CD Baby to date, Socaribbean intends to re-strategize and refocus on digital downloads and novelty products with intended distribution not only within the Caribbean Community territories, but to the US and Canada, UK, France, Germany and other European Union countries, Brazil, Dominican Republic and Latin America, Japan, Asia/Pacific, the Middle East and Africa.

WAITHE CONSULTING

Our clients include one of Barbados’ first major record labels as well as management of one of Barbados’ most accomplished singers and songwriters, Kareen Clarke.

One year later and at Barbados’ first annual Music Awards, Kareen was honored with not only a performance at the event, but was nominated in the “Best Selling Female Artiste” category and won two awards- Best Gospel Alblum for “First Fruit” and Best Gospel Single for “I’m Running to You”. She was also presented with the GOLD certification by the Barbados Music Awards for reaching sales of over 5,000.

Kareen is currently working on her second album to be entitled “Greater Pain, Greater Praise” which is a testimony of her journey through her personal challenges and successes. The Album is due to be released early 2010 as Kareen is currently being considered as one of the first artists to be signed to the recently formed Barbados record label Gold Coast Records, in association with Grammy Award winning artist Regina Belle. Kareen also intends to release in conjunction with her album, a devotional book of psalms and inspirational writings.

Waithe consulting will continue to expand the number of artist under its management and to advise clients in the burgeoning Barbados music industry.
