The first edition of this book was great, but the new 2nd edition is AMAZING! There's more photos, a new price guide and updated information from the first version. The photographs are really beautiful and fun to look at, and it's very helpful to have all the pieces of an outfit pictured and described with their assigned rarity. This book has been really helpful to me in piecing together outfits and figuring out some variations as well.

Not just strictly a "doll" book, the authors have gone out of their way to include information and pictures on foreign skippers, color/design variations of the outfits, furniture and cases, and prototypes of what *could* have been! Besides just showing a picture of each outfit and the average price value, there is also an item-by-item list so that no yo-yo or hair curler will go unaccounted for! This is a great resource for fashion collectors; a few of the outfits are even shown on the dolls so we can see how great they look in them! While this is a great book, it stops at the year 1978, so it's not aimed at contemporary Skipper collectors. :)

The house came with so many accessories. That is unusual today because with houses like that usually you have to buy each little accessory to it. All the features work. I had read reviews from another department store that stated that there were problems with the features working. So far, I have not had that problem. This house made my 5 year old very happy.

I received the doll house right away and it wasn't a big box like i thought. I started to put it together and was a bit overwhelmed at all the pieces but really all i needed to worry about were the big pieces. The smaller pieces were the parts that the kids would play with. About half hour later the house was built...no screwdrivers needed (that i remember). All pieces snapped into place. My daughter loves it and i love it because now she has a place to keep all her barbies (and not in the living room). I would definitely recommend this one!

I was really surprised when I found the top of the dress was also the top of a swim suit built into the Barbie. It's removable skirt glitters like it is suppose to. The bottom of the suit serve as panties under the dress, it always bothers me that most of my Barbie's have no under wear. I wish they came in bulk, like panties for every day of the week.

The purse, shoes, and crown are all grey not silver. Sparkles help the crown stand out. Sparkles on the top and on the skirt. I ordered five Barbie modern purple Princess Party Dolls and one Barbie Modern Pink Princess Party Doll for my grand daughter. I wish I had ordered from www.amazon.com another blonde Barbie modern Pink Princess Party Doll for me. It is difficult with my collection of purple dolls to dress them in Olivias Closet ball gowns. The suit straps show, but I'm a perfectionist.

It is a good beginner doll because the parts are securely attached. Even the little heart purse has an invisible strap to hold it to her hand. I don't think you would regret buying this doll from www.amazon.com just realize the top of the dress is built in. I really love my dolls. I've already found one black Olivias Closet gown with silver trim and sequins that will go perfect with the silver straps on the suit. Surprised but happy!

It's Barbie, need I say more. This one was a big hit with my 5yo, but beware, it beautiful and fabulous, and the movie isn't even out yet, so my child is feeling very special indeed (tx gramps). Do realize that this doll has a heavier and bulkier mid-section, where the music box/light feature is built in, so this is not ideal for dress sharing with your other barbies.

I bought this Barbie for my granddaughter that we do not get to see. I have been buying one every year since she was born and usually send them to her. Last year her parents moved and never told us. We sent gifts but they were left at the old address and I was not sure if she ever got it. I bought this one as a replacement and it was in great shape. I was very pleased to catch up on her collection. We now save them for her. When she turns 18 she can come and vist and get her entire collection. Mattel Lacking in Product Presentation - Holes in Fabric

Why does Mattel insist on poking a hole through every fine fabric costume on collectible dolls with a needle and thread or plastic t-tie? Just try to remove the doll from the box without having a snag in the fabric. I struggled to remove the doll without pulling the t-ties through the fabric. It made two holes/snags in each pleat in the FRONT of the gown. The doll dress is simply too long to fit in the box without wrinkling.

After the millions of dolls they have sold, could their staff devise a way to keep the doll in the box without having to sew the dress to the box?

If the collector wishes to display the doll outside the box, they must try to carefully remove the thread - which still leaves the hole poked through the fabric in front of gown.

Why would someone pay this much money for a doll with a with holes punched through the fabric?

Madame Alexander - a premier doll manufacturer years - has for years securely fastened their dolls with a simple ribbon or rigid plastic forms. Why can't Mattel do the same?

I presented this beautifully costumed Barbie as a birthday gift to a woman who has more than a hundred Barbies. This one is unique because Bob Mackie designed her costume. Last night's Nightline featured the Bratz doll v. Barbie as to who is the champion doll. Without a doubt Barbie shall win hands down. She is wholesome and beautiful. Nearly fifty years ago I made dozens of costumes for my daughter's collection of Barbies. Without a doubt her model figure is a difficult one as she is disproportionate in her dimensions. However,to my mind she reigns as queen of the doll world.

Todd was reintroduced in 1991 as part of the wedding party for Barbie's best friend Midge Hadley. The new Todd had a new head mold with a copyright date of 1990. This new Todd was dressed in a tuxedo and packaged in a large giftset of six dolls that included Midge as the bride, Alan as the groom, Barbie as the maid of honor, Ken as the best man, Todd as the ring bearer, and a doll named Kelly as the flower girl. Todd and Kelly as ring bearer and flower girl were also packaged together as a pair. This Kelly doll, not to be confused with today's toddler Kelly from the Barbie line, was the same size/age as Todd. Indeed, she was made with the exact same body and head molds. The next year, the Todd-sized Kelly doll was replaced by Stacie Roberts, who had a brand new head mold with a cheerful smile. Tutti was not reintroduced; Stacie is believed to be a modern incarnation of Tutti.

Mattel produced several more of the new Todd dolls over the next few years, some in both white and African American versions. But Todd was dropped from the Barbie line and was not brought back with Stacie when she reappeared in the wee 3 friends series.

The latest version of Todd is the 2008 Todd and Stacie "Mary Poppins" boxed set, with a comment on the back that 'Todd and Stacie are dressed as Michael and jane from Disney's "Mary Poppins".

I purchased this item for a collector friend as a gift, shipping was pretty prompt, I left it in the shipping box and gave it as a gift, when it was opened we were disappointed by the condition, mostly it was the collector box it stands in, it was worn and scraped all over & ruined the effect. the doll looked ok but a little out of place. I wrote to the shipper but just got a snotty reply like I was the bad guy. We still have the doll as we were afraid to ship it back as the seller made it sound difficult with no promises so figured if we did it would be the last we saw of it or my money. In all my orders with Amazon,(allot) this is the first time I feel I got taken.

Doll is cheaply made. They seemed to put more emphasis on the box and dress. Don't open it, they seem to be gaining in value. Purchase as a keepsake or part of a collection.

My daughter received this Barbie doll for Christmas along with Erica two years ago and both dolls are still going strong. They both have voice tracks which are still working, they are both in great shape, even though their hair and gowns have taken a beating. Unfortunately after two years of changing and exchanging gowns, the bodices are now ripping apart (They have already been sewn once). The loss of the gowns are the reason the rating is 4 stars instead of five. Aside from that, it is one of the nicest, if not THE nicest of their video tie-in products.
