Business professionals ask as I ask myself…when are we going to get back to NORMAL? Well, I have to say, I now believe we have arrived. Yes, the current economic situation is the NEW NORMAL for all of us. This is the result of the fallout of the recent recession. It has changed the way we work, the way we get work done and the way business is conducted forever. Businesses have to do more with less people, with smaller budgets, and will continue to do so. The fact that our economy seems to be improving, yet unemployment doesn’t seem to be affected positively, means that the days of full-time jobs with full-time benefits are ending. Employee benefits have always been among the largest business expense. Businesses will continue to cut costs by creating more part-time work and independent contractor agreements.

So, what does this mean to small business? Business leaders have to do more with less. Processes and relationships will change. This fact is especially true when marketing your business and its offerings. In today’s business climate there is SO much available to that is FREE, yet we choose or find ways not to embrace them. Historically, the last/final admin was prompted to delete the Page before he was allowed to click through to remove his profile as an admin to the page.  Now that this barrier has been removed, Pages all over Facebook are going, well, adminless without the ability to be changed or deleted.  And once this happens, it’s impossible to regain control. How do you ensure this doesn’t happen to you?

First, make sure only people you completely trust have admin access to your Page.  I recommend having at least one other admin on your Page in addition to yourself.  This way, if something happens to your own account, someone still has control of the Page and can add you back.

Second, make sure the people who do have admin access to your Page understand how it works.  I have heard numerous times about when an admin who doesn’t understand how it works ends up removing everyone by mistake. Followers are your brand evangelists, potential clients and have the unique ability to connect with your company directly through your Page. 

Keeping these two suggestions in mind could save you from losing a valuable, direct line of communication with these individuals.

If you use Cox as your Internet service provider and think you are not getting all of your email…you probably are not. I know that I have family, friends and clients tell me they shot me an email and I tell them I didn’t get it. We have all been there. Well, you call tech support and they tell you to check your spam or junk folder. You do and realize it isn’t there either. So, where did it go? Chances are that Cox is deleting it before it even finds your mail box…WOW. Well, there is an easy solution…

Here are the steps you need to follow in order to ensure you are receiving all of your email from Cox even if most of it goes to your spam / junk folder…

Click on the SETTINGS tab

Click on the SPAMBLOCKER link (right column)

You will see the three options below…

Make sure that the first option is NOT selected. If it is, select one of the other options and click OK.

You are done. You now will be in 100% control of what is considered JUNK or SPAM.

Well, small brokerages face the same challenges as any other small business…new or established. So, my first step in starting Bare Essentials Marketing was to take the internet marketing tools that I was using in my real estate business and package them for use by small business owners, regardless of industry.
