I don't know about you, but if I had a choice what I could loose from my body.. I'd much rather get rid of the fat.

For many years researchers and scientists at Shaklee have been working with athletes of all levels.

Through extensive research they discovered an essential amino acid called "Leucine" that isn't manufactured by the body. Supplements and protein powders have been used extensively by body builders and athletes to promote muscle recovery. Leucine can even assist to prevent the break down of muscle proteins that occur after trauma or severe stress. Do you know anyone who has had severe stress in their life? Yea me too...

Leucine works with amino acids isoleucine and valine to repair muscles, regulate blood sugar and provide the body with energy. Leucine helps burn visceral fat (located in the deepest layers of the body and the least responsive to dieting and excercise). Leucine is the most effective branched-chain amino acid for preventing muscle loss because it breaks down and is converted to glucose quicker than isoleucine or valine.

If you have increased glucose it prevents the body from breaking down muscle during intense workouts or times of extreme stress. Have you ever heard of the fight or flight syndrome? Back many years ago (caveman era) this may have kept us alive. Today our body still reacts in extreme stress the same.

Shaklee scientists developed "Cinch" the weight management system around this important discovery. Think about this.. a product that causes the burning of the deep visceral fat that before now was unaffected by diet and excercise. Do you know anyone who eats the 'right' foods and excercises, but still can seem to lose inches and weight? Yep.. it's called deep visceral fat! Time to lose it once and for all with Cinch.

At the same time you also get a product that causes the retention of muscle mass which in turn causes the buring of more calories. Do you know of anyone who would like to keep the smooth and lean muscle? With Cinch you keep the muscle you have , lose the fat you don't need and lose the inches you don't want.

The clinical studies showed in just 12 weeks the participants lost and average of 15 lbs, 7 inches, 16 lbs of mean-fat mass, and gained 1 and 1/2 lbs of mean fat-free mass! With Cinch you lose what you don't want and gain what you do want. Studay participants even lowered their cholesterol by 22 points!!

Another big PLUS is the taste. The flavors of Cinch Shakes are a delicious rich chocolate, a creamy vanilla (like cake batter by one participant) Cafe Latte and Strawberry. The shakes are available in the traditional can or covenient foil packets. There's also meal replacement bars and snack bars. Probably the best testimony on taste is when the grandkids come the "bars" is their favorite snack hands down! We just chop them up in M&M size pieces and divide them up so their is no fighting...

We also have other purchase options and more information about Cinch on our website: http://barefoot.myshaklee.com Got questions: Call Cindy McAsey 888-272-6701 ext 1

Healthy Pumpkin Latte

The Starbucks Pumpkin Latte has 380 calories, 120 of which come from FAT! Plus it costs about $4.00!

Our version has 10-20 grams of protein, around 200 calories and less than 25 fat calories.. plus it is made with real pumpkin, not pumpkin flavored syrup, so there is WAY less sugar.

Healthy Pumpkin Latte

1/2 cup milk
1 -2 scoops Vanilla Cinch protein
2 Tablespoons canned pumpkin
Heat gently - then add to
1/2 cup hot brewed coffee

Top with whipped cream and cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice or nutmeg if desired.

The REAL Secret to a long happy healthy life

Don't make a resolution to change your weight.
Make a resolution to change your life!
It's the habits we form and the lifestyle we live that will have the largest impact on our future health.

News from the Shaklee Grapevine:

Cinch has a great new fan/author/educator, Brad Lamm, who loves Cinch and has featured Cinch in his new book Just 10lbs - Easy Steps to Weighing What You Want (Finally!), which provides the motivation to take control of your weight by taking the first step, the first 10 pounds. If you’re an American between the ages of 18 to 49, there's a 1-in-2 chance that you experience everyday stress. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control estimates that 75-90% of all doctor visits are stress-related. It’s important to find a healthy way to deal with stress.

Health professionals agree that stress has health consequences. The body's natural stress response, or what we used to call the "fear, fight, and flight response," was originally designed for survival. For example, if a lion were chasing you, your stress response would kick in and prevent you from becoming the lion's dinner.

But today, we are no longer faced with that kind of stress. Instead, we are exposed to stress daily, such as financial hardships and raising a family while working full time. Unfortunately, regardless of the type of stress, our bodies react in the same way. This is a problem because our stress response was not meant for dealing with today's everyday stresses. As a result, our stress response can cause more harm than good. If every day is an emergency, your health can end up paying a price.

The good news, however, is that stress is manageable.

There's no one best way to reduce stress, but here are some thoughts. Continue to eat well, get plenty of rest, and exercise regularly. If you haven't tried it yet, Shaklee Stress Relief Complex is designed to promote a tranquil state of well-being and help relieve feelings of stress. It contains L-Theanine, an amino acid found in green tea and studied for its effect on brain waves associated with a relaxed state; betasitosterol, found to blunt one of the stress hormones; and L-Tyrosine, an amino acid used to make a brain chemical that may become depleted from exposure to everyday stress. It also contains ashwaganda, a traditional, Ayurvedic herbal adaptogen.

Seek emotional support from a trained therapist or trusted friend. Just having someone to talk to about your frustrations or worries can help. Regular exercise is important. Try something new, like yoga. Yoga uses deep breathing and relaxation techniques that are helpfulfor coping with stress. Remember to keep things in perspective. Chances are, the stressful feelings you have will pass when the season passes.

How to manage Stress

What Is Celiac Disease?

Celiac disease is a disorder that affects the small intestine. Gluten is commonly found in food containing wheat, barley, rye and oats.

Rick Hill's Testimony

Rick never had good health as a child. He had daily headaches and missed one school day out of four. At age 23 he developed stage 3 cancer and nearly died. Fortunately, he found Shaklee Products and a cancer treatment center in Mexico. Conquering cancer, he still had headaches, frequent diarrhea, gas and bloating. No matter how organic his diet was, or how much he exercised, he still felt lousy most of the time. His brother, sister and father all died young. At age 54, Rick’s feet and legs were beginning to swell and he figured it was the “Hill” curse. In 2004 he visited a specialist in Rhode Island who told him he had Celiac Disease (gluten intolerance) and to stop eating anything with flour or grains. After six weeks on this diet he felt a little better. He sponsored as a Shaklee Member in 2009 and started on Shaklee Vivix and Vitalizer. In less than two weeks his whole digestive system reorganized (Rick’s words). He says, “I have regular digestion and elimination for the first time in my entire life.”
Buy Shaklee Products Online

Cholesterol Lowers 50+ points Testimony

Here's a great testimonial from Texas. Kudos to Barbara for sharing the story, and Rich for the impressive drop in cholesterol.

I wanted y'all to know about my husbands cholesterol testimony!

A few years ago Rich had his cholesterol tested and it was around 220. His father always ran a little high, so we figured this was genetic since we are healthy Shaklee people (eating low fat, exercising, taking supplements). His ratio between the HDL and the LDL was excellent however, so it wasn't recommended that he use any medication. He wouldn't have anyway at this point. He started using what was then called Cholesterol Regulation Complex; although not consistently. A year later he was tested again and his cholesterol had dropped to about 208. Again his ratio was excellent so he was still rated "super preferred" on his life insurance. So this time, he got totally faithful on the Cholesterol Regulation Complex and a few times a week drinking some Shaklee Fiber Plan. He also increased his exercise, but not by much, as he was already a runner. Then, when the Cholesterol REDUCTION Complex came out last month, Rich began taking that faithfully (this replaced the Cholesterol Regulation Complex).

Today they had a health screening at his work place. Rich excitedly texted me to tell me his cholesterol is now 160! That's amazing! And it was all done naturally! Yea Shaklee!

Thanks for letting me share this!! ..Barbara

Franchise Business on Healthy Aging

This is a testimony from Jan C.
My husband Jim called today after meeting with his lipid specialist in Minneapolis. Once again his cholesterol numbers have significantly dropped! At the time of his cardiac arrest 20 years ago, his cholesterol was over 400. For years the number gradually went down. Two years ago it was 179 and last year, after a year of being on Vivix, it was 138. That's when his statins were cut in half. Today Jim's total cholesterol is 97.
Jim has struggled with the LDL (bad cholesterol) the most. He has a genetic condition that causes his body to produce too much of it. Originally the LDL was 240. For years he worked to get it to 140 and then to 120. It needed to be less than 100. After a year and a half on Vivix, it dropped to 90. Today it was 58 !!!!!
Jim's doctor made this comment: Nobody wants to deal with the problem. They just want to take a pill to have it go away. When that doesn't happen they get upset." He and his office staff consider Jim their poster child. Jim complies and does what's needed to be healthy, and we support him.
What Jim does each day:
1. Takes Vitalizer, Vivix, Nutriferon, CoQHeart, Liver DTX Complex, and Joint Health Complex (had me order the new Cholesterol Reduction Complex right away, too!)
2. Runs 5 miles (has never missed a day of running in 20 years)
3. Drinks tea instead of coffee (Was addicted to coffee but switched to tea several years ago and dropped 30 points off his cholesterol total)
4. Is his own boss - so he can run and rest as needed (Quit a 20 year corporate job at time of cardiac arrest 20 years ago and located his office at home)
5. Makes decisions that eliminate as much stress as possible from his day.
Our youngest son Matt was 2 when Jim had the cardiac arrest. He got married on June 11 this summer. Twenty years ago, I never imagined that with 3 arteries 100% blocked and the 4th blocked 70%, that Jim would even live to see his youngest son grow up. It's good to note, too, that our three sons and I have supported all of Jim's efforts, and as a result we are healthier ourselves. Our family experience is proof that great health is primarily in the hands of the individual and the choices he or she makes. We've always chosen Shaklee nutrition, for example, and that has paid off royally for us. ~Jan

Prescription For A Healthier Life

For More information visit: http://barefoot-online.com

Dodging Weight Gain with Vitamin D

Dodging Weight Gain with Vitamin D Brigham and Women's Hospital An Affiliate of Harvard Medical School You may be well aware of vitamin D's part in building better bones, but did you know it might also help in the battle of the bulge?

Unfortunately, many of us are not getting enough D; in fact, are even D-deficient. Overweight individuals are especially at risk. Excess body fat absorbs and holds onto vitamin D, making it unavailable to the body. The absence of vitamin D creates interference with the functioning of a hormone called leptin, which signals to the brain that you are full and should stop eating.

In addition, overweight people tend to spend more time indoors. This also deprives them from further D as the ultraviolet rays of the sun spur the production of D. Luckily, replenishing vitamin D in the bloodstream to normal levels restores leptin's actions. Getting enough vitamin D, namely 800 to 1,000 International Units (IU) a day can be a challenge from diet sources alone. Supplementation is often needed. Multivitamins typically provide 400 IU.

What are the symptoms of vitamin D deficiency? If you frequently experience unexplainable fatigue, indiscriminate body ache such joint aches, bone pain, and muscle aches, may be signs of vitamin D deficiency. Also difficulty with weight control and depression may indicate low vitamin D levels.

How is vitamin D deficiency cured? Once vitamin D is restored to healthy levels, leptin will function properly again. Sun exposure and vitamin D enriched foods provide vitamin D. However, since it is difficult to obtain sufficient vitamin D level through dietary sources and sun exposure, supplementation is often required.

 Buy Shaklee Products Online

Shaklee Celebrates $5 Billion in Paid Commission at Annual Conference in Anaheim

Number One Natural Nutrition Company in the U.S. Also Unveils New Car Incentive Program for Distributors ANAHEIM, CA--(August 9, 2010) - Shaklee Corporation, a leading provider of natural nutrition, personal care, and environmentally friendly home care products, announced today that it has surpassed five billion dollars in commissions paid to its more than 1.2 million Shaklee Family Members worldwide.
The announcement was made at the 2010 Shaklee Global Conference in Anaheim where thousands of Shaklee Members, Distributors and prospects gathered to explore how to capitalize on the Shaklee business opportunity while embracing the Shaklee vision to make people and the planet healthier.
"Shaklee's mission is to create the best natural health products and market them through a business model that gives people the opportunity to achieve the dream of owning their own business and controlling their financial future," said Shaklee CEO Roger Barnett. This does not necessarily correspond to actual known constipation.
Someone can move his bowels many times a day, and still be encumbered with dead cells, decaying food materials, poisonous chemicals, parasites, pus, mucus, etc., all of which contribute to the circulation of toxins throughout the whole body, giving rise to an endless chain of disease conditions.
These facts should be taken into consideration when nutrition programs and vitamin therapy are introduced for the first time. The body’s response to a proper nutrition program is to start releasing stored toxins from the cells and this puts more stress on organs of elimination (colon, kidneys, lungs, liver, blood, and skin)
Many times these organs are already malfunctioning from past intake of drugs, additives, and refined, processed and overcooked foods. The result of this could be symptoms of nausea, weakness, headaches, rashes, and tiredness.
To prevent this from happening, Dr. Shaklee invented HERB-LAX, a combination of nine different herbs that help detoxify the body through better, more complete, elimination.
It is important to understand that herbs are not in any way related to the artificial colon—cleansers promoted online or in other media. Herbs do not act like ordinary laxatives that irritate the tissues and force the bowel to eject its contents This weakens the organs and causes dependencies. But herbs, being a food, nourish the bowel and related organs to strengthen them so that they will function entirely on their own, effectively eliminating waste materials.
It is hard to say how many HERB-LAX an individual should use, since each person differs. Choose the dose that gives you two to three soft, easy bowel movements daily. This can range from one half to 30 per day (in the case of Diverticulitis).
Those who are faithful in using HERB-LAX for internal cleanliness will get surprising good side effects as days, weeks and months go by. These include a better complexion, no headaches, no bad breath, little odor during bowel movements, plus more energy and clearer thinking.
You can hardly study the Shaklee product Herb-Lax® without gaining a profound respect for our founder Forrest C. Shaklee, Sr. What an amazing mind he had to conceive such a product at the time he did. Remember, interest in herbal medicines had waned considerably during the middle of the last century.
Shaklee Herb-Lax was the second Shaklee product developed, and it has truly withstood the "test of time" remaining one of Shaklee's favorite products. Dr. Shaklee knew that proper elimination of waste from the bowel is one of the keys to optimal health. It is said that 90% of degenerative diseases are related to, or worsened by, the food we eat passing too slowly through our intestinal system.
The fact that Herb-Lax® contains Senna leaf powder and is therefore a laxative is a no-brainer. Practically everyone in the medical or herbal community would understand that. Dr. Shaklee made his signature product unique by blending an additional eight herbs with the Senna leaf powder to enhance its use - to speed up the movement of foodstuffs through the intestinal system.
DR Shaklee was able to accomplish this without the usual unwanted side effects of taking a laxative. Something to consider is the label states a serving size of four tablets. That would indeed cause a gentle bowel movement within several hours, by taking less than the serving size, you effectively speed up the flow of food and waste through the intestinal tract without causing diarrhea.
Why does herblax work the way it does? Certainly, several of the herbs contained in this product produce a laxative action. In addition to Senna leaf powder, buckthorn bark powder, licorice root, blue malva powder, and culver root all have shown some laxative action.
They do, however, along with the other herbs present, fulfill other functions within the GI tract to complete the action.
For example, licorice root, alfalfa, fennel seed and anise seed aid in digestion. Licorice root also reduces the production of stomach acid (good for heartburn?); and relieves gas, as does anise seed. Anise seed also acts to relieve stomach cramps. Rhubarb is unusual in that in can cause a laxative effect, and it has the opposite effect in small doses!
Bottom Line: DR Shaklee knew what he was doing by combining all these natural herbs into one fantastic product called HERBLAX. Today it's still one of our best selling products. Why because it flat out works and it's very cost effective.
Cindy McAsey
Barefoot in the Garden
888-272-6701

Building the Dream - Living the Dream

Make your own Shaklee Baby Wipes

Shaklee Baby Wipes
Equipment:
3 qt. Pull first wipe from the inside roll.
These are very economical and are not cold on baby’s bottom.
Other uses: Handi wipes around the house, in the car, personal hygiene for women, the elderly, or those with sensitive skin.

Cindy McAsey
888-272-6701

Papa and Eden

Papa and Eden
Originally uploaded by cindymcasey
What does your desktop say about you? I’ve often said that if I were stranded on a desert island, two of the items I’d most want washed onto the shore would be fish oil and CoQ10.

Omega-3s in fish oil convert to EPA and DHA and get in your heart cells, stabilizing heart rhythm. They also have a positive effect on heart rate variability, so necessary to heart strength. Omega-3s also make blood platelets less sticky, keeping your arteries clear. They also work their way into existing plaque within three days and make it more resistant to rupture. Just two fish meals a month can reduce death by sudden heart failure by 50 percent!

Not only is fish oil great fertilizer for your heart, it’s also terrific for your brain, eyes, skin, and gastrointestinal tract. The EPA contained in fish oil is a terrific anti-inflammatory agent. We’ve also seen fish oil significantly lower triglycerides and lessen the effects of type 2 diabetes. People with bipolar II disorder have had positive results taking 9-10 grams daily. It truly is a remarkable substance with no downside that anyone has ever discovered.

Now, a new study has shown that the omega-3s in fish oil can even lengthen your life!

Cardiologists at the University of California, and several hospitals, measured the length of patients’ telomeres—which is the part of your DNA that corresponds with longevity. In their five-year study, they measured the length of the telomeres in the white blood cells of 608 patients who had coronary-artery blockage and previous heart attacks.

What they found is that the participants with higher omega-3s blood levels had significantly less shortening of their telomeres than the participants with lower omega-3 levels—over the five year study period. This suggests that omega-3s play an important role in the aging process.

But while it’s important to get more omega-3s —it’s the DHA fats that are most critical
While both the EPA and DHA omega-3 essential fats are critical, DHA is the omega-3 fat your body needs most for your cardiovascular system, brain, cognitive function, and eye health. Dr. Stephen Sinatra is a practicing cardiologist with an integrative approach to health and healing.

Research shows that supplementing with DHA is better at promoting normal blood pressure levels in hypertensive men than EPA. In a study of postmenopausal women with cardiovascular disease, those with the highest levels of DHA had significantly better cardiovascular health.

DHA is also highly concentrated in your brain, making up 40% of the EFA’s found there. It helps with nerve cell communication, is an important part of brain nerve cell communication, plus, it acts as an antioxidant.
Plus, DHA is the primary essential fatty acid found in the retina, with studies showing that higher DHA reduces age-related macular degeneration. Yet, while DHA fats are so critical to your health—they’re also the toughest fats for your body to obtain.

That’s because your body’s ability to convert plant-based omega-3s into DHA is very low. Plus, the ability of your body to convert EPA omega-3s into DHA is poor. It requires a great deal of energy, as well as the presence of a crucial enzyme, delta-6-desaturase—which may be lacking in some people, particularly the elderly.

What’s the best way to increase your DHA fats?

The easiest and most reliable way for most people to get the amount of omega-3s they need for general health—at least 500 mg per day—is to take a fish oil supplement each day. Preferably one that’s high in DHA fats.

Lecithin for Heart and Brain Health

Lecithin was a superstar in the early days of the health food movement. In the 1970's, Adele Davis endorsed it in Let's Get Well, claiming it lowered cholesterol, reduced angina, and protected against heart attacks and strokes.

Today this natural compound is making a comeback. Researchers recently discovered that phosphatidylcholine (PC), the most abundant component of lecithin, activates a protein in the liver called PPAR-alpha that regulares fat and glucose metabolism. PPAR-alpha is the target of several diabetes and sholesterol drugs, so the discovery that this safe, inexpensive, natural compound does the same thing is big news.

Lecithin also has positive effects on the brain. PC is a precursor to acetylcholine, which is involved in memory and learning, and lecithin supplies the body with the building blocks of this important neurotansmitter. Dietary sources of lecithin include eggs, soy, and dairy.
~ Dr Julian Whitaker

Shaklee has always carried Lecithin in it's line of premium products. In fact Lecithin has been a staple supplement at our house since we were introduced to Shaklee over a decade ago. I've shared with many how lecithin will help reduce cellulite by making the fat in your body more fluid. This also makes it a good supplement to support healthy veins.

Buy Premium Shaklee Lecithin Online

Shaklee and Nonprofit Fundraising: Power Packed Ideas

Billion dollar state budget shortfalls. Fundraising struggles. Donor fatigue. It all adds up to a challenging economic environment, particularly for non-profit organizations looking to raise funds.

Today more and more organizations (somewhere around 1.2 million, according to the Internal Revenue Service) are competing for funding dollars, and that number is steadily increasing.

Non-profit organizations often share our Shaklee values, and many are looking to expand their approach to raising funds. Many are looking to partner in new ways—ways that are aligned with their services. They need consistent revenue streams to fund programs. They want greater visibility, and ways to spread their message to new audiences.

This is where our efforts and Shaklee come in.

Here’s how it works. Have you ever bought a product and seen various causes marketed right along side the brand name of a product? Or bought a product because you knew that a portion of profits from that sale would benefit a cause you care about? A recent study (the 2009 Global Edelman Goodpurpose™ Study) found that two out of three people say they would switch brands if another brand of similar quality supported a good cause.

People want their purchases to count towards making a difference.

We’re happy to announce that Shaklee has created a way to do just that. A non-profit organization can “ride alongside” Shaklee in ways never before possible. And to support us to help non-profits with fundraising, there are a wealth of new tools (listed below) which have also been added to the new beta Library on MyShaklee.com.

Shaklee's Energy Chews - The Healthy Edge

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 72px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_jDanOHQEPtU/S6d9p4K06oI/AAAAAAAAAmI/zzMBey74L1U/s320/banner-energy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5451464032361179778" />
Over 75% of consumers are concerned about issues relating to their energy levels. Flavonoids -- those antioxidant-like compounds found in fruits, veggies, chocolate, tea, and wine -- seemed to help ward off belly fat in a 14-year study.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 142px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_jDanOHQEPtU/Sy928ZLea3I/AAAAAAAAAh4/C7UKK4_1wlQ/s320/banner_antioxidants.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5417679656673241970" />
Multitasking Flavonoids
Specifically, catechins, flavonols, and flavones -- types of flavonoids -- may help curb belly bulge by improving the body's metabolic profile, the researchers noted. So where can you get your fair share? The study participants got most of theirs from pears, apples, tea, chocolate, broad beans, onions, leeks, and sweet peppers. Pretty tasty choices.

Shaklee Products Online

Just Released: New Study Compares Shaklee Performance vs. Gatorade and Kidney Stone Risk

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 142px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_jDanOHQEPtU/SwXQ6mftw6I/AAAAAAAAAhk/mlp3k78nCds/s320/banner_SportsNutrition.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5405956632912708514" />
When you are the leader in the natural food supplement industry, people sometimes test your products without you even knowing about it.

That was exactly what happened with a recent study comparing the effects of Shaklee’s Performance and Gatorade on the risk of kidney stone formation.

This was the ultimate independent study.

Shaklee didn’t initiate it. They didn’t support it. And, in fact, they didn’t even know about it until it was published a couple of weeks ago (J.W. Goodman et al, Urol. Res., 37: 41-46, 2009).

Before I get into the results of the study, perhaps I should start with an explanation of why you would even want to do that kind of study.
Let’s start with the problem - kidney stones. They are extremely painful, and they can damage the kidney - particularly if they form over and over again.

To a urologist the solution is simple - just drink two liters of water a day.

The problem is that you have to really, really, really like water to drink two liters a day, and most people just aren’t that into water.
In fact, previous studies had shown that even when patients had a previous kidney stone and were told by their urologist to drink two liters of water a day, the average result was an increase of only 0.3 liters a day of water.

So this group of urologists asked what people were drinking instead of water.

The latest trends show that soft drink consumption is decreasing and consumption of sports drinks and energy drinks is increasing. And, there was absolutely no information on whether sports drinks increased or decreased the risk of kidney stone formation.

So they decided to look at two well-known sports drinks, Shaklee’s Performance and Gatorade, to see whether they would increase or decrease the risk of kidney stone formation compared to the consumption of an equivalent amount of water.

They looked at the effect of each sports drink on the amount of citrate in the urine and by how much they increased the pH of the urine because each of these decreases the risk of kidney stone formation.

They also looked at the effect of each sports drink on the amount of sodium and calcium in the urine because each of those increases the risk of kidney stone formation.

Performance significantly increased the amount of citrate and the pH of the urine, while Gatorade had no effect on either of them.
Neit her Performance or Gatorade had an significant effect on sodium or calcium levels in the urine.

Thus, they concluded that Shaklee’s Performance was superior to either Gatorade or water alone at deceasing the risk of kidney stone formation.

Now you might be tempted to say that this study was of more interest to urologists than the general public. But my guess is that if you have ever suffered through a kidney stone this study is of great interest to you.

But to me the more important conclusion is that, once again, independent clinical studies show the superiority of Shaklee products.
To your health!

Dr. Stephen G. Many doctors advise their patients to take a baby aspirin every day to reduce their risk of heart attack. And this recommendation has been repeated so often in the media and in self-help books and web sites that even more people are taking an aspirin every day without even waiting for their doctor to recommend it.

Is this good advice?

Probably not, accordingly to a new study done by Dr. Gerry Fowlkes of the Wolfson Unit for Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease in Edinburgh Scotland. In a study that he presented at the most recent meeting of the European Society for Cardiology in Barcelona Spain he and his colleagues followed 3,000 men at very high risk for developing heart disease for an average of eight years.

Half of the group was randomly assigned to take an aspirin every day and the other half was given a placebo. At the end of eight years there was no difference in the rate of heart attacks or stroke - or risk of death from any cause - between the two groups. In other words, an aspirin a day did not decrease the risk of heart attack and stroke and had no discernable health benefits in this study.

Even worse, there were 34 major bleeds in people taking the aspirin compared to only 20 in people taking the placebo. And if you looked at internal bleeding that was so serious that it required hospitalization, the risk was almost double for the aspirin users compared to the placebo users. The conclusion of this study was that for otherwise healthy people the risks of taking aspirin outweigh the benefits.

The scientists cautioned that for people who have already had a heart attack the benefits of taking an aspirin a day might outweigh the risks. But I would encourage you to investigate natural alternates rather than relying on a drug to reduce your risk of heart disease.

For example several recent clinical studies have shown that as little as 500 mg/day of omega 3 fatty acids, whether from fish or from supplements, can reduce the risk of a second heart attack in someone who has already had one heart attack by 30-40%.

And, of course, the Landmark study showed that people who have used the Shaklee supplements for 20 years or more have 1/3 the incidence of angina, heart attack, stroke or congestive heart failure as do people using other company’s multivitamins or no supplements at all.
