Match your separates

Get yourself a shift dress

In times like this , with the economy going downhill, every cent saved counts. Did you know there are numerous ways to save money? Particularly with the price adjustment policy of several stores. Similarly, did you know that you don't have to stick with a merchandise for longer than you need to depending on return policies? Well, guess what?!! I'll be showcasing several stores and their policies (return and price adjustment).

Price adjustments are slightly different than return policies. With price adjustments, you can still get the difference in cost even if the product has already been opened or worn, as long as you have your original receipt. In most cases, in order to do a return, the product must still have its original labeling or tags and/or packaging. So keep your tags and receipts for at least 30 days :)

Please note that many retailers which also have websites may have different policies for in-store purchase and online purchases. In some cases, we were able to get information on both, and have posted them below. Many retailers also exclude certain items from price adjustments, price guarantees or price matching. Similarly, holiday policies tend to vary. As always, it's best to check directly with the store or website you buy from before making your purchase.

THE LIMITED - Within 14 days of purchase. Not offered on redline or markdown items ending in $0.99

VICTORIA'S SECRET (in-store policy differs from online policy) - Can bring item and receipt back within 14 days and receive the difference in sale price.

VICTORIASSECRET.COM - Can return item within 3 weeks of purchase and receive the difference in sale price.

One point worth mentioning though: if possible, always carry your receipts with you at all times. Get yourself a small receipt wallet or wrist-let and safe-guard your receipts. Be sure to also prevent the receipt prints from fading away. This little point may save you a significant amount of $$$ later down the road :)

Some other ways to earn money via price adjustments!!

Pay with credit
Extended price adjustment policies are a little-known credit card perks!! Several credit card offer you price adjustments for merchandise you purchase and find cheaper days later. For example, the Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards card,for example, offers to refund the difference in price up to $250 if you spot a better deal within 60 days of purchase. The Fidelity Investment Rewards Visa Signature card does the same.

Check for competitors' matches
It's harder to claim, but some stores will even match a competitor's price after you've made a purchase at their store. Stores like that include Circuit city and Office Depot. Some stores almost never do this willingly and with a smile, so be prepared for a bit of a battle :) Bring the competitor's ad with you, as well as a printout of the store's price matching and adjustment policies.

If all fails, in the event that a price drops on a similar item recently purchased within a few days, buy the sale item and return the original.

Yes!! The day we've awaited is finally fast approaching: Black Friday!!! And yes, yours truly has been to the mall and even purchased the pre-thanksgiving sale items!! This Friday is going to be awesome!! I am pleased with what I have seen so far with respect to sales and you wouldn't be disappointed to :)
Want to know if you should wake up early and be at the stores for 4am? Well, it depends on what you want to buy :) I personally REFUSE to wake up that early and stay in line to purchase an item :) Oh well, good luck with your shopping!!! However, whatever you do, try to get to your favorite stores before 12pm!!!

Here are the deals I found!! Expect the black friday sale to be the same or better than what I say here!!

Charlotte Russe: This has got to be the best sale hands down for this store. This time, they have the buy one get one half off (BOGO) the entire store!! And their marked down shoes were all $6.99!! I ended up walking out of this store with 6 pairs of shoes for a total of $33.54!!!! Can't beat that!!! :z The shoes were absolutely cute...such a bargain!!

Macys: Yes!! All ye Coach fanatics, Macy's has your favorite designer purses on sale. Get 40% off select Coach purses and an extra 30% off the price!! What What?!! The purses are very cute. Hopefully, you find some left when you get there. A lady came to the store and purchased 10 Coach purses at once!! That shows you how good the deals were :)
Similarly, get 15% off when you use your Macy's card, extra 40% off clearance merchandise and extra 20% off fine jewelry.

The Limited: Get an extra 25% off marked down merchandise and get a wrap with a $75 purchase. "Okay" sale to me, nothing special :(

Banana Republic: Get 40% off select merchandise!! Not bad :) You know how I feel about this store so no further comments :)

Bebe: Get 30 - 50% off regular prices!! Get an extra 30% off already reduced merchandise!! This is a nice sale! So all ye bebe-holics, run and go shop at your favorite store!!

Steve Maddens: I am honestly disappointed by their sale :(...I have seen better sales at this store. Nonetheless, you might be surprised on Friday so don't let my words stop you from hitting their store!! Get up to $40 off boots and an extra 20% off clearance merchandise!

Aldo: Oh how I love Aldo!! Well, you can get an extra $20 off select shoes and boots!! The prices after the reduction range from $49.98. Not bad given the regular prices of the shoes and the quality of their merchandise!!

Tights: To Wear or Not to Wear

Sorry peeps, this is not a post on deals and bargains!!! That's coming! This post is ALL about tights and its trend!!

Tights are not just for private school girls any more! Rather they have become winter items worn with skirts and dresses!!!

On Saturday, there was a party and I had planned on wearing a short dress if the weather permitted. However, that evening, it was cold :( so I decided to wear my dress with black opaque footed tights. Somehow I got my sister on the phone, and told her my choice and she did not like the whole idea and fashion behind tights :(.
This prompted me to look into the dos and donts of this trend and also see how people really felt about it. Here's what I found :). Feel free to comment as need be :)

Do start with dark ones, like opaque black or forest green. The dark colors are slimming and always a chic choice. They'll ease you in to this trend smoothly.

Don't go crazy when casual. If you just HAVE to have those all-over print tights, then do it up! Just don't pair them with your denim skirt, running sneakers and striped tee.

Do wear your boldest stockings with your fave little black dress. Your classic black dress looks so banging on your body -- your bold tights will just add some funk to your fab.

Don't wear white. Not just after labor day but EVER when it comes to white. There's no need to revisit your pre-school ballet days.

Do feel free to wear stand-out stretchies with a fab frock. Feeling really playful? Go ahead and rock your blue tights and coral dress -- as long as there is no print in any shape or form.

Don't go too far out there. Unless it's Halloween and you're the court jester, there's no need to wear two different colors of bright tights.

Don't mix fashiony tights with casual stuff. But with dressier pieces? Nice! go too far out there. Unless it's Halloween and you're the court jester, there's no need to wear two different colors of bright tights.

Do try a deep shade like green or navy if you're feeling neon-shy.

Don't be this outlandish. If your look has a lot going on, keep the tights low-key.

Do keep it fun, but remember: Less is more. Wear your big, bold tights with a simple dress and shoes. However, it won't hurt to tug your plaid bag along.

Tip of the day: Did you know that the price of items at the manufacturer's store tend to cost more than it would if you bought it at a departmental store or off-price store? For example, did you know that buying a Coach purse or Nine West handbags at a departmental store like Dillards or off-price store like TJ-Maxx tends to cost less than buying such an item at the actual manufacturer's store?

Well NOW you KNOW!!!! So, shop wisely and if possible visit multiple stores and malls/ shopping centers and you might be surprised!!!.

It's just the beginning of a new week and I can honestly say this week has been stressful so far. I have swallowed more Ibuprofen in the past couple of days than I have in 6 months. So to relieve my stress, I decided to go shopping!!! Funny thing was that I went to the mall with pounding headache and was going to use some headache relief medication like Ibuprofen but miraculously :), shopping was my cure. After walking around the mall and spending some dollar bills, I came out of the mall without any headache even up to this moment!!! I left the mall not buying much though: just a pair of cute shoes and a clutch I have been "eyeing" for months :)!! Here's the clutch I bought: the Nine West mixed company small clutch in croco java color!!

Merchandise are fairly priced, although some of their items seems to appeal to anyone who wants low-heeled shoes while some of their purses seem to appeal to a much older crowd. However, don't get me wrong, I like this store and have acquired nice shoes and purses from them!!! My favorite purse is still there!! Why won't they just reduce the price of the purse...gosh...Guess they like to torture me :( I still want that purse!!

Bebe: In stores, you get an extra 65% off clearance merchandise!!

Macy's: Get an extra 50% off clearance handbags and shoes! You also get an extra 40% off clearance accessories and extra 10-15% if you use your Macys card or shopping pass on regularly priced merchandise and fine jewelry!!! Their shoes are decently priced but I have seen and bought cheaper items from them :)

Charlotte Russe: They also have a sale going on! Get one pair, get the second pair at half price. This sale is not as good as last week's due given the price of their shoes. You are better off with a second pair at $10 than at half price :) .They have some really cute shoes!! But I guess the best part is that their selected clearance shoes which by the way are cute are all $6.99.
Don't even try buying the shoes online as they are more expensive. I have seen shoes I saw for $5 last week and $6.99 this week in the stores, selling for regular price online :(

But I guess the best part is that their selected clearance shoes which by the way are cute are all $6.99. Don't even try buying the shoes online as they are more expensive. I have seen shoes I saw for $5 last week and $6.99 this week in the stores, selling for regular price online :(

For example, the pair of shoes below cost at least $22.99 online, you can check on the stores website, but in- store, it costs $6.99!!! As you would expect, every time I have been to this store in the past 2 weeks, I walked out with a cute pair of shoe, cuter than the ones below!!

Like you would expect, I walked out of the store with a nice orange colored sandals for $4.99!! You can't beat that deal!!

I keep going every week to check out the bag and the price of the damn thing won't go down from $19.99, LOL..I know I am being cheap :) but I have a reason. I really don't need another brown purse, I have tons of brown purses but oh well, I know I am still going to get it one day :)

Bummer, bummer but not so bummerish....I always start my weekend shopping spree on Fridays and by this, I mean I hit at least two malls to go bargain hunting but this week was different. I left work really late and was able to get to few stores in just one mall :( but nonetheless, here are the goodies I found for you and some deals you should know about before your shopping spree!!

New York & Company (In-store): NY & C is having an additional 40% off redline merchandise (redline merchandise already marked 70% off). Given past bargains I have purchased from this store, the prices even with the 40% off are still high to me :( I mean, it's not like bad or anything, maybe you can check the store out yourself, you might like the deals they have now :)

Bath and Body Works (In-store and Online): Buy 1 get 1 free signature body lotion and body splash. Personally, I would have loved to see their wallflowers go on sale again!! It was $6 last week which is not bad given the lowest I have ever seen them was $5 :) . I'll be on the watch out for more deals for this store.

Banana Republic : They are having a sale as well on everything (40% off select styles). No additional % off :(. For me, their merchandise was still pretty pricey. The not-so-pricey stuff like a plain v-neck shirt cost $11 before taxes, why not go to Forever 21 and get a shirt with the same style, color for half the price. Just a thought. I know you can't weigh Banana republic and Forever 21 on the same level because of the name brand of one over the other, but that's just me :)

Macy's: Oh how I love Macy's!! They are having sale in the store right now! You get to take extra 40% off any clearance merchandise in the whole store! You also get an additional 20% off on saturday only (9/20/08) (you now have 60% off...there seems to be a catch to this such as donating to charity. Click HERE for information on this). They have really cute shoes too, and NO I didn't buy shoes from them this time because my size was missing :( but I managed to leave the store with a really cute dress!!!

Oh by the way, I just realized The Limited now has their online store up and running!! No great sales going online for this store yet, but the online store opening is worth mentioning!!
