The old cedar siding was removed and James Hardie primed siding was installed on this late 80’s two story home in Eagan. The customer was settled on keeping the exterior color scheme of their home the same as it had always been. They also wanted to retain the same appearance of rough sawn cedar, but with a more worry free siding product. Primed, James Hardie siding was their answer. Barrier Exteriors installed the new 7” plank siding and new NT3 primed Hardie trim. Our expert painting crew applied a custom, high end, acrylic paint job that will give them more than 20 years of freedom from ever having to paint again. We also added new brick to the front of their home, where none had existed previously, matching the existing brick. This completed the look of their home they had always desired.
Yet another great success!

We were asked to bid vinyl siding for a 1980’s vintage split level in Eden Prairie, MN. The customer felt that because most of the homes in their neighborhood were vinyl sided, they should stick with the same material. After introducing James Hardie, Color Plus siding as a viable option, and showing them the “Return on Investment” (ROI) factor, we were able to convince them that James Hardie Fiber Cement siding was the way to go. Their home was nice, the neighborhood was nice, and we are hoping that many of the neighbors will follow suit. Sometimes it only takes one to get the ball rolling. This savvy investment will certainly create a bump in their home value and the value of others as the trend continues.

Once again, Barrier Exteriors rose to the challenge. We accepted a rather unique opportunity to apply our skills to a rehab project in St. Paul very near Hamline University. James Hardie, Color Plus siding and trim on this 1 ½ story Tudor was the right “pick-me-up” for this rather tired home. A two piece Grade Band and a three piece Belly Band set the home apart from other nearby homes. The Belly band was configured using a bed mould much like a crown mould for an interior trim detail. Our crew is made up of seasoned craftsman and have, once again, created another masterpiece to stand the test of time.

Plymouth, MN, August 2011. Exterior problems can sometimes show up at the most inopportune times. In one of our recent projects, moisture found behind the stucco of this mid 1990’s home, was jeopardizing its pending sale. Working with the two parties and local real estate agent, Barrier Exteriors recommended an intrusive moisture intrusion test be conducted by a quality third party stucco inspector (in this case we used CMT). When the inspection report came back less than ideal, we met with all parties to further educate them on the findings of the report and the various repair strategies that could be used.

It was decided that a full tear off and redo strategy was required to remove all the stucco allowing access to the rot areas and allowing for improvements to the overall wall design. Pan flashing windows, re-framing, installing kick outs flashings, re-insulating, improvements to head flashing and deck ledger design, drainage plane, and at grade protection together became part of the overall solution. James Hardie, Color Plus (Timber Bark) was selected as a quality reside option to the initial stucco cladding.
Most importantly, because Barrier Exteriors was able to complete the project very quickly, and with a high level of quality, the house was ultimately sold to the new buyers.

Call us today for more details on this or related projects.
