Watching a game of baseball in person gets you closer to the heart and soul of the game than watching it on television. If you have never seen a baseball game in person then you are missing out on the feel of being in a stadium full of fans, hearing the crack of the bat, and enjoying the real outdoors and sunny weather.<div class="feedflare">

Best Baseball Songs

But it isn't just summer and baseball that go together; through innings of the past, baseball and song have always gone together as well. Not only does nearly every American know the words to Take Me Out to the Ballgame, but all sorts of other music have been as much a part of the game as a box of cracker jacks. Over the years, several songs have been written directly about baseball or using baseball as a metaphor for life. The following is our list of the best baseball songs, those that belong at the top of the order.<div class="feedflare">

Getting To The World Series

The main objective for any baseball team is getting to the World Series at the end of the season. Two teams, who have beaten out all other teams in the league, face off in a final few games to determine who is the best that year.<div class="feedflare">

Three Reasons Why the NL May Not Win the World Series for Awhile

It's been obvious to baseball observers that the American League has overtaken the National League, as evidenced by the recent World Series and All-Star game results. These streaks come and go, but it may take the senior circuit a little longer than usual to reverse this recent trend.<div class="feedflare">

What If Mickey Mantle Had Used Steroids?

The all-time poster boy for 'playing hurt' in baseball has to be Mickey Mantle, the New York Yankees' legendary center fielder, says Dr. Gary S. Goodman, sales, service and success coach, and best-selling author of 12 books and the audio program, The Law of Large Numbers: How To Make Success Inevitable, published by Nightingale-Conant. According to this popular keynote speaker and radio and TV commentator, Mantle might have amassed monster statistics if he had the benefit of steroids and modern medicine.
In 1968 the San Diego Padres came to life, as the city was awarded a National League franchise during the owners meetings in Chicago, as expected the first five years of existence for the San Diego Padres are difficult in the won-loss column, but things gradually start to go around in 1974 as Ray Kroc the founder of McDonald's purchases the San Diego Padres in a move that prevents the team from relocating to Wahington D.C.<div class="feedflare">

2006 Baltimore Orioles Predictions

Despite a red hot 26-14 start to the 2005 season, the Orioles once again couldn't contend with the Yankees and the Boston Red Sox for the AL East crown as they went just 48-74 the rest of the way out and finished well behind the leaders of the pack. The Orioles gained many backers in the early going as they got off to a fast start.<div class="feedflare">

Barry Bonds Deals Baseball yet Another Black Eye

As the steroid talk swirls around baseball like the juice surging into Jason Giambi's veins, America's favorite pastime continues to be bruised, right when spring training is getting started. First, it was Giambi's admission of taking the muscle-enhancing drug. Then, Jose Canseco shocked the sports world with his tell-all book about his use of steroids, swinging a syringe with better accuracy than he ever swung a bat. Now, it's baseball's homerun king, Barry Bonds, making us despise the sport's most talented player, with his strange ramblings at a preseason press conference, laced with perfunctory glances at interviewers, lame defenses of his own lousy image, along with distracting accusations aimed at various targets.<div class="feedflare">

2006 St. Louis Cardinals Predictions

The Cardinals 2005 campaign was a disappointment due to the high expectations that were set by a World Series birth in 2004. The Cardinals had 5 less regular season wins, with 100, in 2005 than they did in 2004, largely because of winning just 9 of 19 down the stretch and just 16 of their remaining 30.<div class="feedflare">

There are many new players starting in spring training this year. Bringing new players is always exciting for the team, the league, and the fans. Fans who go to spring training enjoy seeing new talent and are impressed by someone who is new and has never played on the majors before. Many people who follow college baseball are excited to see a player that they liked in the major leagues. It is fun to watch the players practice and learn how to play baseball as a team.<div class="feedflare">

Hey Tommy: So, What's Up With These Dodgers?

Someone should buddy up to Tommy Lasorda, maybe after a nice meal, and ask: So, what's up with this team? suggests Dr. Gary S. Goodman, noted sales, service, and success consultant. Like a custodian at an institution, he might know something profound that others have missed. And if it has something to do with a Brooklyn soul, perhaps he can tip us off about waking it up from its long and deep sleep, says this keynote speaker and author of the popular audio program, The Law of Large Numbers: How To Make Success Inevitable, published by Nightingale-Conant.<div class="feedflare">

Can The Dodgers Rebound From A Disastrous 2005 Season?

They have a new GM, a new 1st baseman, shortstop, third baseman, center fielder, GM, and others. Will, this mix improve on 2005's disastrous season? Possibly, says Dr. Gary S. Goodman, President of Customersatisfaction.com, sales, service and success coach, and best-selling author of 12 books and the audio program, The Law of Large Numbers: How To Make Success Inevitable, published by Nightingale-Conant. According to this popular keynote speaker and radio and TV commentator, it's very possible they'll make it to the post-season, given their weak division, but don't look for them to go past the first round.<div class="feedflare">

You expect a young team like the Dodgers to struggle on the road they did last year. It will probably still be to your benefit to look to bet against these Dodgers on the road in the 2006 Baseball season.<div class="feedflare">

Will Barry Bonds reach the 756 home run mark and eclipse Hammerin' Hank Aaron? The controversial Barry Bonds certainly is a baseball legend in his own mind, but does he have enough star quality and MLB cache to keep him in the baseball limelight? Is he a has been or someone who should be a has been?<div class="feedflare">

The History of Spring Training

Spring training almost started at the same time as baseball itself. The first record spring training event occurred in 1870 when the Cincinnati Red Stockings and the Chicago White Stockings held camps in New Orleans. However, some believe the first spring training wasn't until the Washington Capitals had a four-day training camp in Jacksonville in 1888.<div class="feedflare">

The 2005 Chicago White Sox: Did Teamwork Trump Talent?

The Chicago White Sox played like a championship team in 2005, but was it their teamwork that won the World Series? asks Dr. Gary S. Goodman, President of Customersatisfaction.com, sales, service and success coach, and best-selling author of 12 books and the audio program, The Law of Large Numbers: How To Make Success Inevitable, published by Nightingale-Conant. According to this popular keynote speaker and radio and TV commentator, no matter how you shake it, to prevail in October you either need genuine stars on the field, or players who are having banner years.<div class="feedflare">

Four Little-known Baseball / Softball Training Secrets, Part 4

When performing RESISTANCE TRAINING, strive for STRENGTH BALANCE ACROSS JOINTS AND MUSCLE GROUPS, as opposed to merely developing size and strength. Why does this matter? Because muscle strength imbalances are among the leading causes of sports injuries. For example, pulled hamstrings (back of upper leg) are often the result of quadriceps muscles (front of upper leg) that are stronger due to over-training.<div class="feedflare">

Four Little-known Baseball / Softball Training Secrets, Part 3

Everyone knows that you use more of your body than just your arm to throw a baseball or softball. Yet, when I walk through a gym I always see ball players spending most of their time "working" their upper body. If their motivation behind training this way is that they think this will help their arm strength, well, they are largely mistaken. Studies show that the split between how much you use your arm and trunk to make an overhand throw to be 53% arm and 47% trunk. And, that's defining "arm" broadly to include shoulder and chest muscles.<div class="feedflare">
