Equipment Forum. Nov 12 2009 5:12AM. I've been playing a six string bass for a while now that I mainly use for solo pieces. The question arose when I wanted to jam with a guitar player of mine but we were outside. Now I checked the interweb and couldn't find any mention of an acoustic six-string bass, but I was wondering if anybody "out there" knew anything?

Miscellaneous Forum. Nov 12 2009 12:10PM. Since September, our band Cool Bananas has payed every Friday night at Bar Africa. It's taking time to build up the clientele as this is situated in an industrial, rather than shopping or residential area. We were contracted to go just until before Christmas. The bar owner has told us he's happy and has a long term vision for building up his bar. He says our style of music is just the ticket for what he wants and asks us to continue well into the new year. To back up his banter, this sign ( underneath ...

Equipment Forum. Nov 12 2009 3:05PM. Hey all! I'm in the market for a new overdrive pedal, and was wondering if anyone here had any insights. Right now I'm using a RAT. It works, but its a little too gainy and I feel like I'm losing a little low end. I'm looking for someting that's going to give a fairly convincing tube-like overdrive sound. In the past I have used the Sansamp BDDI as well, but was very unhappy with it. I have heard good things about the Fulltone Bass Drive MOSFET and the HAO Rust Ride, but sound samples are hard to come ...

Equipment Forum. Nov 12 2009 5:17PM. Hey everyone! It's been a while. I've been busy with life and building speaker cabs for PA system, but I've got a bass question... I just picked up a used Dean Playmate acoustic/electric bass in a trade for an old 4-string beater bass I had laying around. I've always been interested in trying an acoustic bass especially for fooling around with the family (who play guitar, piano, violin, flute, etc.). It was a quick parking lot exchange at the guy's workplace, and we both just did cursory inspections. He said ...

It kinda look like a Epi ThunderBird, but then another look and it does'nt. I could'nt find anything at the Fernandes Site. Just the models thay have out now. Any Ideas? Thanks, SBJ p.s.
For Sale/WTB Forum. Nov 11 2009 2:58PM. Hey Guys/Gals and Rog :) I have 1 set of Rotosound (45-105) Swing Bass and 5 sets of GC (GHS) 45-105 Nickels all brand new and still wrapped. What I'm looking for is to trade for some flats which are what i only use now. So if you have bought a set and they're not for you let's talk. I prefer 40-45-100-105 light/med light gauge. That's what my basses are set up for. I'd take $60 for all 6 sets. That's a pretty good deal. So let me know! Thanks Don

Open Forum. Nov 11 2009 7:15PM. G'day there ABers, I have been looking for the bassline to George Benson's 'This Masquerade' The band I'm in wants to play it pretty soon. I've looked at buying it on ebay, but all they seem to have is for guitar. I'm a newbie to bass so if I made one up there are two problems.....1. it would take me too long and 2. it may be crap! Any ideas?? Maybe one of you ABers has already designed a simple bass line and could let me use it or know where I could buy it?? Hooroo, Dave

I was running it through my SWR 160 and SWR4x10. We were playing a set of blues songs (mainly SRV).
Announcements Forum. Nov 10 2009 9:48PM. We will be playing a mix of classic (think root/five) country with a rock edge twist combined with some Texas style and Southern rock. I am expected to integrate and be a part of the band rather than a hired gun. I will be allowed to write and create so this is going to be a blast. I think the originals they already have are pretty good and I'm so glad to have some input. For those of you in the Dallas area, I'll update you on where we're playing on 28 November.
Building/Repair Forum. Nov 9 2009 8:50PM. ...does anyone have experience installing Sperzels on a guitar? One of my guitars has them, and I really like them. I bought a set for my main guitar, and the instructions are a bit nebulous. Can't afford to have a tech install them, and I THINK I know how to not screw it up, but, would love to hear from anyone who has installed them. Thanks
