Oh Man, People just go totally crazy for Hostess Fruit Pies, ha ha! OK, does everybody remember these wonderful Vintage Ads that were inside comic books in the 1970's & 1980's? I know that when I was a little kid I used to really love them. The pies were great too. My favorite was Cherry & if they didn't have that then Apple would be an acceptable choice. It's built by Leif Garvin from Stockholm. It took him over 20 000 hours of work and $1 million to finish it. The engine is an 460 Ford big block V8, 700 hp and it's built on a 1973 Lincoln Continental.

I got an e-mail tonight from a good friend who sent these cool pics ( click on the drawing up above for a larger picture ). They're some sketches of a "Batman Bat-Suit" he says he's going to make! His name is "BroHawk" & he's an extremely talented graphic artist ( mostly comic books ). So, you know this thing is gonna be awesome! BATMAN WACKER GAME Vending Machine "Wack-a-Villain"!

Here's some amazing photos from our good buddy Chunky B. who writes the excellent ECLECTORAMA Blog. His real work involves vending machines & he recently went to a special convention called the IAAPA ( International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions ). It was in Las Vegas and while there he came across this awesome new game based on the "Wack a Mole" Machine concept. It's the Official BATMAN WACKER GAME!! He also grabbed a flyer and scanned it for us ( that's the 1st pic ). As you can see, the premise of the game is to put on some HUGE Batman Gloves & when a Super-Villain pops-up out of a hole, you wack 'em! The villains include: The Joker, Harley Quinn, Mr. Freeze, Riddler, Two-Face, & Catwoman. The game has incredible graphics all over it, from ever angle! In fact, this is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life, ha ha! And that's saying a lot because when I'm not writing the Bat-Blog I spend most of my time at Major Art Museums & Galleries. I wanna thank Chunky B. for sending us the cool pics & thinking about the Bat-Blog, I appreciate that very much. I also want to invite you wonderful readers to check out his blog sometime. Here's an extremely well-made 1966 Batman TV Show Fan Video. It's a mash-up of the intro using the style of the old 1970's "EMERGENCY!" TV Series. The editing is really clever. I like how the actors move normally, & then all of a sudden, they freeze! It's exactly like the way the "Emergency" intro was...funny.

OK, This is kind of funny! As the main writer of the Bat-Blog I am always constantly stressing out about how I can promote the site. It's a very difficult thing to do. If I were to study the growth of this blog ( or ANY blog for that matter ), it's an extremely slow process to obtain new readers. It totally drives me crazy, ha ha! For example, awhile back I printed a small ad-sheet that I gave to people to advertise the site ( I still do it even today ). But one time, about 2 years ago, I got all "Guerrilla Marketing" about it, & taped one onto a Newspaper Vending Machine. Now the part that's totally hilarious is that it lasted for almost 2 1/2 years! I always wonder if it had any value at all...did it bring in any new people? Probably not, or if so, not too many. One thing I've learned is that the best response is by "word of mouth". So, what I'm gonna do here is ask every single reader of the Bat-Blog, at least those who enjoy the site, to please tell all their friends about it. You can do it inside a Message Board, with a Banner or Bulletin on your MySpace page, a Link on your own Blog, a Link-Post on your Facebook Page, e-mail a friend who likes Batman, etc... But please don't do what I did this one time & plaster a sign on some property, ha ha! If you need to know ways to promote the Bat-Blog or if you need a special-sized banner then just please shoot me an e-mail. I would be more than happy to help! One last thing, I hope a lot of people out there enjoy this site & I want to thank everyone who comes back to read it every single day. It really means a lot.

Kenner ROBIN SUPER POWERS Action Figure Comic Book

Back in 1985 a toy company called Kenner made a line of DC Comics action figures called SUPER POWERS. When you bought a figure you also got a free mini-comic book included in the package, located behind the figure ( see 1st photo ). The basic plot goes like this: Mongul holds Earth ransom, forcing it's greatest heroes--and villains!--to race for the planet's survival. It's a crooked bargain wherein even if Batman wins, he dooms his fellow heroes--if the villains don't doom them first!

Here's an extremely cool BATMAN & CLAYFACE Desktop Wallpaper Background that I am pretty proud of. Mainly because this artwork was sent in by a new friend to the Bat-Blog named Jake Castorena. He's a pretty talented Graphic Artist & actually works making storyboards for Advertising, Cartoons, & Movies. He did this drawing of the Caped Crusader fighting in a frantic battle with one of his deadliest foes, Clayface! Originally the artwork he sent was not a desktop background. But I thought it would look great as one, so here ya go! Now I know it seems kinda weird that everything is on the right-side but please give it a try. Here is a snapshot of a Custom Batmobile used for a kid's ride in Rouen, France ( near Paris ) that our good friend Stephane saw last weekend. OK, first of all I am so jealous she is in France, ha ha! I've always loved that part of the globe & I will visit there someday. Last night we were at the evil Wal-Mart to get some household supplies when all of a sudden I discovered these new Batman items! If you hit their "Holiday Cosmetics" area you might be able to find these Batman Bath Products: Batman Toothbrush Holder, Batman Fizz n'Foam Bath Set, Cans of Batman Moldable Foam Soap ( 2 ), & the Large Batman 3-Bath Foam Set! Please excuse my crappy photos, I only had my camera phone with me, but you get the idea! The Large Bath Foam Set ( 2nd photo ) is $9.00 & all the others are $5.00 each. These are usually a pretty good deal, & well liked as children's Christmas gifts, so be sure to get them if you see them. They almost ALWAYS sell-out early! Also, I bet you can also find them at Target stores because they usually have them every year, but I have not checked yet. The next item is something extremely cool that was spotted by our friend Joe! He was at a Walgreens Drug Store where he said he found this Exclusive BATMAN: THE BRAVE AND THE BOLD Wall Clock, it's only $9.99. I really love this cartoon so this clock will be a "must have item" for me, ha ha! ( Thank you very much for sending the pic Joe, I appreciate that ). Alex Ross Creates a CATWOMAN PAINTING For Animal Charity!

Just a few days ago, on November 13th, a charity auction on eBay sold this beautiful CATWOMAN Painting by Alex Ross for $3550.00. The piece measures 10 3/4" X 23" and has never been seen anywhere ( Be sure to click on it for a larger photo ). Alex Ross Stated,

"Animal rescue is one of my favorite causes. SAVED WHISKERS RESCUE does great work to save the lives of animals in need. Doing this painting for them was also a great excuse for me to illustrate a version of a character I love. It is a donation that I'm extremely proud of".

Drew's "BLACKEST NIGHT" Batman Bat-Suit Costume

Shown here is a photo taken of our friend Drew at a recent Halloween office party. He decided to be Batman but he didn't want to be the same one as everybody else. He wanted a Bat-Suit that would be totally unique. Well, mission accomplished! He created a version of Batman as if he were a character from the current Green Lantern "Blackest Night" storyline. I guess you could call him, the "Blackest Knight", ha ha. But the costume came out really well & you have to applaud the creativity involved. Thanks Drew for sending this photo in, I always appreciate stuff like this...good job!

Here's a video showing you the different drawing stages in making comic book art like sketching, inking, coloring and final rendering. All is done with very cheap materials: like Faber Castell PITT Artist Pen, Letraset Twintip Markers ( they are not as expensive compared to Copic Markers ) and Watercolors. This is sort of a "How To..." Instructional Tutorial Video. So, anyone who loves drawing comics can do this without spending a lot of money & get a nearly professional result.

This was on eBay the other night & I thought it was too cool NOT to post! This is the Original Production Art for the Batman ( Dark Knight Collection, not the last movie ) "Blast Shield"Action Figure made by Kenner. This was a "boxed item" that came out, I think, in 1991. I remember when it was in the stores & I thought the box concept was kinda cool. But even cooler is this original artwork by Dick Giordano because he's such a Comic Book Artist Legend! I would totally love to have this & Christmas is coming up, hint, hint.
