We have recently started selling a new brand of rechargeable batteries called Extreme. Extreme batteries are a new name to the UK's battery market. The new Universal USB Li-Ion battery charger will charge many of the Li-Ion batteries used in digital cameras, mobile phones, PDAs, camcorders and many more. It can charge any of the slim Li-Ion batteries. This very small charger is on a keyring and is ideal for using when travelling or for someone who is on the move a lot.

Fujicell have brought out two new
rechargeable batteries, which are very powerful. The new Fujicell C size and D size rechargeable batteries have a capacity of 6000mAh and 10000mAh respectively. This is makes them very long lasting for stereos and torches and any other devices which take C & D size rechargeables. Most other batteries this size such as Duracell and Uniross have a much smaller capacity of around 2000 - 3000 mAh (milliAmps/hour), which makes them uncomparible to the Fujicells long lasting power.

Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) and Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd) differences

Batteries come in many shapes and sizes, but the main question usually asked is “what is the difference between NiMH and NiCd rechargeable batteries?”

Nickel Metal Hydride batteries aka NiMH for short are a rechargeable battery type and were developed to meet the requirement for increasingly higher levels of energy demanded by today’s electronic products. Nickel Metal Hydride batteries can offer up to three times the capacity of the same size standard Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries. Due to their increased capacity and energy density features, users can expect a longer time between charges and longer running time. They also have rapid charging times – 1 hour (depending on the charger used)

NiMh batteries come in AA, AAA, C, D and PP3 9v sizes and due to the fact that they have no memory effect, which means that the batteries don’t lose their power over time, they are now a more popular battery than the Nickel Cadmium (NiCd)

Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd) battery is a type of rechargeable battery commonly used in portable computers, camcorders, portable drills, and other small battery-powered devices, having an effective and even power discharge. Although Nickel-Metal Hydride and Lithium Ion batteries have become much more popular Ni-Cd batteries are still widely sold.

Nickel Cadmium batteries have a long service life - Depending on usage conditions and can deliver 300 - 1000 charge / discharge cycles.
Ni-Cds have a quick charging capability - rapid charge in about one hour (depending on charger used).

Both battery types use nickel oxyhydroxide in the positive electrode, while NiMH batteries use hydrogen in the negative electrode NiCd use Cadmium.
