Sport includes all forms of competitive physical activity or games which,[1] through casual or organized participation, aim to use, maintain or improve physical ability and skills while providing enjoyment to participants, and in some cases, entertainment for spectators.[2] Hundreds of sports exist, from those between single contestants, through to those with hundreds of simultaneous participants, either in teams or competing as individuals. In certain sports such as racing, many contestants may compete, simultaneously or consecutively, with one winner; in others, the contest (a match) is between two sides, each attempting to exceed the other. Some sports allow a "tie" or "draw", in which there is no single winner; others provide tie-breaking methods to ensure one winner and one loser. A number of contests may be arranged in a tournament producing a champion. Many sports leagues make an annual champion by arranging games in a regular sports season, followed in some cases by playoffs. Sport is generally recognised as system of activities which are based in physical athleticism or physical dexterity, with the largest major competitions such as the Olympic Games admitting only sports meeting this definition,[3] and other organisations such as the Council of Europe using definitions precluding activities without a physical element from classification as sports.[2]However, a number of competitive, but non-physical, activities claim recognition as mind sports. The International Olympic Committee (through ARISF) recognises both chess and bridge as bona fide sports, and SportAccord, the international sports federation association, recognises five non-physical sports: bridge, chess, draughts (checkers), Go and xiangqi,[4][5] and limits the number of mind games which can be admitted as sports.[1] Sport is usually governed by a set of rules or customs, which serve to ensure fair competition, and allow consistent adjudication of the winner. Winning can be determined by physical events such as scoring goals or crossing a line first. It can also be determined by judges who are scoring elements of the sporting performance, including objective or subjective measures such as technical performance or artistic impression. Records of performance are often kept, and for popular sports, this information may be widely announced or reported in sport news. Sport is also a major source of entertainment for non-participants, with spectator sport drawing large crowds to sport venues, and reaching wider audiences through broadcasting. Sport betting is in some cases severely regulated, and in some cases is central to the sport. According to A.T. Kearney, a consultancy, the global sporting industry is worth up to $620 billion as of 2013.[6] The world's most accessible and practised sport is running, while association football is its most popular spectator sports Artifacts and structures suggest sport in China as early as 2000 BC.[15] Gymnastics appears to have been popular in China's ancient past. Monuments to the Pharaohs indicate that a number of sports, including swimming and fishing, were well-developed and regulated several thousands of years ago in ancient Egypt.[16] Other Egyptian sports included javelin throwing, high jump, and wrestling. Ancient Persian sports such as the traditional Iranian martial art of Zourkhaneh had a close connection to warfare skills.[17] Among other sports that originated in ancient Persia are polo and jousting. Motorised sports have appeared since the advent of the modern age. Electronic sports are a recent development. A wide range of sports were already established by the time of Ancient Greece and the military culture and the development of sport in Greece influenced one another considerably. Sport became such a prominent part of their culture that the Greeks created the Olympic Games, which in ancient times were held every four years in a small village in the Peloponnesus called Olympia.[18] Sports have been increasingly organised and regulated from the time of the ancient Olympics up to the present century. Industrialisation has brought increased leisure time, letting people attend and follow spectator sports and participate in athletic activities. These trends continued with the advent of mass media and global communication. Professionalism became prevalent, further adding to the increase in sport's popularity, as sports fans followed the exploits of professional athletes – all while enjoying the exercise and competition associated with amateur participation in sports. Since the turn of the 21st century, there has been increasing debate about whether transgender sportspersons should be able to participate in sport events that conform with their post-transition gender identity.[19]

Bitcoin: A Basic Understanding For Dummies

There has been ample media coverage of Bitcoin, and many public figures have been compelled to state their opinion. As Bitcoin is a complex topic, covering cryptography, software engineering and economics, it is difficult to grasp its essence and implications with only a superficial look at it. Thus some commentators might not have a clear picture of how it works and the implications. It is the goal of this book to equip the reader with the knowledge to evaluate the merits of this technology. Figure 1.1 summarizes some misconceptions around Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency. This means there is no person or institution behind it, either backing it or controlling it. Neither is it backed by physical goods, such as precious metals. This might seem counter-intuitive at first glance: how could it exist if no one controls it? Who created it then? How did the creator lose control over it? The answer to this seeming paradox is that Bitcoin is just a computer program. How exactly this computer program works is the subject of the second part of this book.

Bitcoin: A Basic Understanding For Dummies

The program has a creator (or creators) but his identity is unknown as he released the Bitcoin software using what is believed to be a pseudonym: Satoshi Nakamoto. Bitcoin is not controlled in a tight sense by anyone. The creator did not lose control of it because he FIGURE 1.1 What Bitcoin is (and isn’t) 3 (she?, they?) never owned the code. The code is open source and thus it belongs to the public domain, as will be further explained in section 1.2. One of the most innovative features of Bitcoin is that it is decentralized. There is no central server where Bitcoin is running. Bitcoin operates through a peer-to-peer network of connected computers. Bitcoin is the first digital currency built in a decentralized way, a technological breakthrough. The decentralized nature of Bitcoin will be further explored in section 1.1. Bitcoin creates its own currency called bitcoin, with a small b. The creation of a currency is integral to how the system operates, as it serves two simultaneous purposes. First, it serves to represent value. Second, issuance of new bitcoins is used to reward operators in the network for securing the distributed ledger. These two functions cannot be unbundled without significantly changing the design. The heart of the Bitcoin network is a database holding the transactions that have occurred in the past as well as the current holders of the funds. This database is sometimes called a ledger, because it holds the entries representing the owners of the funds. Bitcoin is not the first distributed database to be created. However, the requirements of a financial database are different from those of other applications, such as file sharing or messaging systems. In particular, financial databases must be resilient against users trying to double-spend their funds, which Bitcoin solves elegantly. This is explored in the following sections and in Chapter 2.

Some critics have argued that Bitcoin is a Ponzi scheme. It is not. In a Ponzi scheme there is a central operator who pays returns to current investors from new capital inflows. First of all, in Bitcoin there is no central operator who can profit from the relocation of funds. Second, there is no mechanism to deflect funds from new investments to pay returns. The only funds recognized in the Bitcoin protocol are bitcoins, the currency. Transfers of bitcoins are initiated by the users at their will: the protocol cannot deflect funds from one user to another. Third, a new investment in Bitcoin is always matched with a disinvestment. Investors who put money into bitcoins usually operate through an exchange where they buy the bitcoins from another investor who is selling her investment. There is simply no new investment flowing into bitcoins: the amount of sovereign currency that has flown into bitcoins exactly matches the amount that has flown out of bitcoins.

However, bitcoin, the currency, can be a bubble. Whether the value of bitcoin crashes, holds, or increases depends on whether bitcoins will be used in the future for different applications. There are several interesting applications for Bitcoin, of which the most straightforward (but not the only) are to serve as a medium of exchange and a store of value. It is too early to tell whether any of these applications will become important in the future.

In brief: PUBG has been pretty quiet of late, but today has decided to come out of its hole to cast a shadow on some new skins coming to the game. We don't know when, and we don't know why, but soon players will be able to dress their avatar up as Suicide Squad characters Joker and Harley.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has not been making headlines that much lately. Bluehole seems content merely to chug along as Fortnite steals the spotlight almost daily. Mostly this is because there have not been any significant positive changes to the game worthy of reporting.

Well, it appears PUBG Corp is looking to shake things up and rattle Fortnite’s cage with some new cosmetics. The studio announced via Twitter that it has partnered with DC Comics to bring two new skins to the game — namely the Joker and Harley Quinn (Suicide Squad versions).

A trailer accompanied the announcement, but it did not give away too much in the way of details. It shows the skins in action. However, there is no release date mentioned, it just says, “Coming soon.” It also does not say how much the cosmetics will cost. That leaves a lot to wonder about — are the skins going to be part of a new DLC or game mode? It’s anybody’s guess until PUBG is ready to release more information.

If PUBG is following Fortnite’s lead, the two characters might be part of a limited-time game mode. FortniteIntel notes that Epic did a Fortnite/Infinity Wars mashup back in May that featured Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet. PUBG may be planning a similar experience. After all, just running around dressed up as Harley Quinn and Joker in vanilla Battlegrounds doesn’t seem to make much sense.

We’ll have to wait and see what Bluehole has planned for the introduction of the skins — it had better good though. The recent downgrading of the Xbox version’s graphics and the dip in concurrent players back in September does not bode well for the battle-royale shooter. If the skins come with some decent content to go with them, it might prop the game back up.

Something to look forward to: PUBG had signed a deal with Microsoft to keep Battlegrounds exclusive to Xbox One for a year. Now that year is up, and the studio has announced that the title will be coming to PlayStation 4 just in time for the holidays.

When PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was ported to the Xbox One last year, PlayStation fans wondered if the game would be coming to their favorite console. Neither PUBG Corp nor Sony announced any plans for a PS4 version of the game. However, back in September, the Korean rating board leaked a rating for the PlayStation 4 version of the game indicating a port was in the works.

As it happens, the leak has now been confirmed by Sony and PUBG Corp.

“Today we are thrilled to unveil the exciting announcement that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is officially coming to PlayStation 4!” Development Project Manager Joon H. Choi said in a PlayStation blog post. “Bringing PUBG to the PS4 has been an ambitious project for us, and we are beyond thrilled to finally be sharing this news with the world.”

This exclusive Nathan Drake skin comes with pre-orders of the game.

The port will be loyal to the original PC version of the game and will leave nothing out. Players will have access to all the maps and features available in the other versions of the title. Additionally, PS4 Pro owners will be able to take advantage of HDR support.

There is one feature that could be missing though. Choi did not indicate that the game would support crossplay. If Sony were allowing it, you could probably safely bet that PUBG would have play that up in the announcement. So it doesn’t look promising for those hoping to go up against their buddies who have been playing on Xbox for a year.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is slated for a December 7 launch, and pre-orders went live today. Sony is offering some extra content to entice early buyers including a Nathan Drake skin, a backpack replicating Ellie’s from The Last of Us, and a PUBG avatar/theme combo.

There will be four editions offered. The Disc Edition and Looter’s Edition are just physical and digital versions (respectively) of the base game and will sell for $40. The Survivor’s Edition is $60 and includes the Survival Pass: Vikendi; 2,300 G-Coin Pack; and 20,000 BP. The Champion’s Edition is the same as the Survivor's but bumps the G-Coin up to 6,000. It will sell for $90.

Playerunkown's Battlegrounds, also known as PUBG, continues to be plagued by critical bugs even today. The latest issue is related to gunplay, where players at a lower framerate get weapons that have a much lower recoil than those at higher framerates. For a game that has huge e-sports ambitions, this kind of a bug is a big let-down. The latest bug to be discovered is a complicated one though, and may not be very easy to fix. It was discovered by YouTubers and affects all PUBG players on PC and, to some extent, consoles. At the moment there's been no report of these issues affecting PUBG Mobile.

PUBG's gun recoil bug was discovered by YouTuber WackyJacky101 (hat tip VG247). In his detailed video, WackyJacky101 points out that recoil is much lower at lower framerates in PUBG. This means that if you use weapons with a high firing rate, they are much easier to wield at lower frame rates.

Recoil makes guns move backward (towards the person firing them) after they're fired. It's a big part of almost all major shooting games and it keeps games fun by adding an added layer of difficulty to using some of the most powerful weapons. Lower recoil means you can fire more accurately, but the real problem is the inconsistency in recoil.

‘Fix PUBG’ Campaign Over, but Some Aren’t Pleased

WackyJacky101 notes that in PUBG, framerate also affects how fast your gun fires. This means that guns that fire bullets the fastest are more accurate at lower framerates and also the rate at which they fire bullets is limited. These factors combine to create a big advantage for players who have trouble dealing with recoil. WackJacky101 has explained this PUBG bug in much more detail and you should definitely check out his video below for a better understanding of this problem.

The ramifications of this PUBG bug are far greater, as astute Redditor MutuTutu discovered. This Redditor found that each weapon in PUBG performs differently at different frame rates, so there's a “sweet spot” in terms of frame rate for every weapon. The closer your frame rate is to that sweet spot, the better your PUBG weapon will perform. MutuTutu has compiled this in a neat spreadsheet, which you can check out here.

PUBG Vikendi PS4 and Xbox One Release Date Announced

This makes it clear that if you can avoid frame rate fluctuations in PUBG, you are at an immediate advantage in the game. However, every PUBG player knows that it's easier said than done. Now that this bug is out there in spite of the developer's ‘Fix PUBG' campaign, you can be sure that crafty players will find a way to exploit it as much as possible.

PUBG Mobile may be getting new subscription systems. These include a PUBG Mobile Prime and Prime Plus subscription which would allow players to convert Battle Points (BP) to Unknown Cash (UC). Apparently, these new subscription systems would allow players to convert 5000BP for 50UC. This would let PUBG Mobile players have another way to gain UC, which is needed to purchase certain cosmetic items. The Prime subscription would cost $0.99 (around Rs. 71) per month and grants users access to a small amount of UC (possibly 150UC) along with daily rewards like IDs and some UC for logging into the game. Prime subscribers would be able to convert BP to UC though it's described to be a limited amount.

As for the PUBG Mobile Prime Plus subscription, it would cost $9.99 per month (around Rs. 710) and has a special introductory price of $4.99 (close to Rs. 355). It would give users 300UC as well as 20UC as a daily login bonus as well as an ID card, room card, and a crate coupon. What this means is, you get 900UC for the first month of the PUBG Mobile Prime Plus subscription.

According to PUBG Mobile YouTubers Mr. Ghost Gaming and Allthenewsisgoodnews the new subscriptions are available in the KRJP server but implemented in a "different way" and Tencent may make the above changes to it in a subsequent update. As for it coming to the global version of the game, the duo have "no idea" at this moment if it would show up. Chances are it's just a matter of time before Tencent introduces it to make for the deficit in China due to the lack of approvals for its new games by the Chinese government.

Interestingly, a PUBG Mobile admin on the game's Discord had posted details of this too minus the BP to UC conversion that the YouTubers uncovered.

"To sum up, both of these memberships will grant you daily UC as well as the aforementioned perks, alongside getting extra XP and RP points added to your RP (further not specified)," the post reads. "Whether these special offers come with the 0.10.0 has not been confirmed as of yet."

Last week PUBG Mobile got the 0.10.5 update and a Duos event for its Resident Evil 2 crossover.

The 0.10.5 patch had a 190MB download size and brought with it Royale Pass Season 5, 'Classic' voices, new weapons, and the addition of Vikendi while creating rooms.

"In order to celebrate the highly anticipated Resident Evil 2 coming out on January 25, we are celebrating now with Duos event," a tweet from the official PUBG Mobile account reads. "We look forward to the full release of the collaboration content later this month and can't wait to share more with you!"

Considering that the Resident Evil 2 release date is January 25 for PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC, this collaboration could last longer than the previous ones that featured Mission Impossible and BAPE.

"We're thrilled to enter this partnership with Capcom and their iconic Resident Evil game, and look forward to an exciting collaboration that will delight fans of both franchises. It will present a combination of the world's most popular mobile game and a video game masterpiece that will be well worth the wait," said Vincent Wang, General Manager of Global Publishing Center, Tencent in a prepared statement at the time.

Details on Zombies Mode are scant, though it would be present in the Arcade section of the game and you'll be able to gun down the undead during the course of play according to past reports. If the PUBG Mobile Chinese New Year event is any indication, it could be a cooperative experience. Hopefully we'll see some official information from Tencent soon.

PUBG’s community discovers a major problem with the game’s gunplay

The more things change, the more they stay the same. It seems this is especially true for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, which has once again come under fire from core players because of a very tricky, but nonetheless disruptive issue.

PUBG Corp. spent most of last year fixing PUBG, and the team has made large strides towards creating the more polished, consistent experience players have been clamouring for since the shooter first hit early access.

It’s generally been smooth sailing for the better part of 2018, until recently. PUBG players have discovered that the in-game framerate directly affects weapon recoil, which means it controls damage per second (DPS), thus dictating weapon performance.

PUBG’s weapon mechanics are generally considered among its greatest qualities; weapons have noticeable kick that ensures gun fights rely on skill in learning, and being able to control recoil. Weapon characteristics also form the basis for the choice of attachments, and the shared knowledge about each weapon’s effective ranges.

All of that was thrown into question after a detailed analysis from WackyJacky101, a PUBG YouTuber known for testing the game’s various aspects. WackyJacky101’s findings are typically well-researched, and though he may not command a giant fan base, his opinions are very respected amongst players.

In the video, the YouTuber found that the lower the framerate, the lower a weapon’s vertical recoil is going to be. 30fps, which is the lowest limit PUBG can run at, will result in much more manageable recoil for most weapons. This is most noticeable when using high rate-of-fire weapons, but not so much with the slow-firing like the AKM.

South Korean esports broadcast network OGN has officially begun gameplay for its newest league venture, the North American PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds League (NPL), but if preseason Twitch metrics for the league are any indication, North America’s official PUBG league might have a long road ahead of it in 2019.

In November, PUBG Corp. detailed plans for a Global Championship season this calendar year that includes competition across nine different regions spanning three phases, and culminating with a large global competition.

As a part of the announcement, OGN’s NPL was made the regional operator for the Global Championship, and over the course of the year, it will host events with sixteen teams vying for a total prize pool of $1M USD.

In preparation for the next 10 or so months of competition, the league hosted a $100K tournament at the shiny new OGN Super Arena in California that was built specifically to host large-scale battle royale tournaments.

PUBG Mobile continues to see massive popularity as an alternative game to Fortnite, especially in the Asian region. PUBG Mobile was also recently chosen as the Best Game of 2018 on Google Play as well as the User’s Choice Game of 2018 on Google Play; all of which does not really come as a surprise as the game was also chosen by The Golden Joystick for its 2018 Mobile Game of the Year as well.

PUBG Mobile recently entered Season 4 with apk version 0.9.5, bringing access to a new automatic assault rifle and many more changes. The next version of PUBG Mobile, i.e. apk version 0.10.0 has now entered its beta and is available for download for users who are interested to play on the new version before the stable update drops.

Meanwhile, we at XDA-Developers had a chance to access the patch notes for the upcoming stable 0.10.0 update, through a reliable source.

PUBG Mobile 0.10.0 Update Leaked Patch Notes

Notable changes in this update is the addition of the Vikendi snow map, with a new snow weather mode and an snowmobile vehicle. There’s also the addition of cross-server matchmaking, which will allow players to match with players on other servers on the same tier, thereby reducing match wait times in certain scenarios. Players will also now be able to collect all daily mission awards, which will definitely be a welcome change for the regulars.

The complete patch notes are as below —

New Map and In-game changes:

• Vikendi, a 6km x 6km snow map
• Will be available for download at 0:00 UTC on 20 DEC 2018, and available for matchmaking 24 hours later
• New weather mode added: Snow
• Vikendi-exclusive vehicle: Snowmobile
• Snowball Fight added to Vikendi’s Spawn Island
• Added layout for players with large hands
• Added a display for Crew Challenge winners on Erangel’s Spawn Island. Season 1’s winning teams will appear on the Spawn Island of their respective server and modes (Season 2 registration starts at 0:00 UTC on 18 DEC 2018)
• Players’ best results in Crew Challenge will now be shown on their Crew pages and can be shared with other players

Thematic Changes:

• Added a Snow theme to the main menu. Collect bells from all Classic mode matches and exchange them for rewards at the event center
• Shop’s front page has been tuned to emphasize themes of each major update

Matchmaking Changes:

• Added cross-server matchmaking. After enabling, players have a chance to be matched to players of the same tier on other servers
• Players that repeatedly exit matches right after starting will now be banned from finding matches for a period of time

Security Improvements:

• Players may now report suspicious behavior while spectating after dying.

Reward Improvements:

• Players now can collect all daily mission awards at once.
• Added Firearms Finish Upgrade System, where players can use materials at the Lab to upgrade certain weapon finishes to get additional kill effects, unique kill broadcasts, and death crate appearances.
• Added Lucky Treasure, a feature that gives players a chance to get upgradable weapon finish Glacier – M416 when they finish daily missions.
• Added Season spending rewards. Spend different amounts to get excellent rewards and steep discounts on firearm finishes

Other Improvements:

• Added Arabic support
• Players now do not need to select a second language for matchmaking and chat
• Chat system now takes up less memory and stores more messages
• New commands added to Quick Chat

We do not have confirmed information on the exact date of release for the stable 0.10.0 apk update. However, we expect the update to be released in the coming week.
