Top 5 Most Famous Battle City Players

The Hall of Fame has been up and running for over a year. It's a great system, the community decides who is most famous. How? By a simple vote, cast by a forum post! Anybody can be entered into the Hall of Fame, but only those who are truly famous will continue to receive posts in their Hall of Fame thread. Want more details? Read the guidelines.

But enough talk, let's get to the good stuff, what everyone wants to know... Who is the most famous Battle City player of all? Or even better, who are the Top 5 most Famous Battle City players?

1. -IGGY-

-IGGY- is currently the most famous Battle City player! He has been given 7 votes of fame from the community! Who voted for -IGGY- and what did they say? Check it out here.

2. Jizohn

Right behind -IGGY- is Jizohn with 6 votes of fame. Will Jizohn be able to pass -IGGY- before the year is done? Contribute to Jizohn's fame by posting here.

3. darkluigi

darkluigi is the third most famous Battle City player! He has 6 votes of fame like Jizohn, but was ranked third since his fame-thread has less page-views. Do you think he should be ranked higher? It's up to the community to decide. Just post in his Hall of Fame thread to contribute to his fame!

4. Wujiamin... & the WFC

Coming in fourth place is Wujiamin and her fan club. Considering she has her own fan club, I'm shocked she isn't more famous! With 4 votes of fame, she could easily jump to #1 with just a few posts in her Hall of Fame thread. That's how we decide who is most famous, by the amount of posts in a persons Hall of Fame thread! Each post is a vote of fame!

Battle City Polls are now Open!

Voting is very important, a right for which many have died and for which many still fight. The polls will soon be open in the United States and Canada, so don't forget to make a difference by filling in your ballot when the time comes. That being said, please also take a moment to vote in some new Battle City polls that have recently gone up!

The Battle City staff is planning on hosting a large event in the near future and they need your help to decide which type of activity the majority of the community would prefer. Visit the Massive Event Planning thread to cast your vote!

There has also been some talk and reminiscing in the last few weeks regarding the great historic battles brought to Battle City during the Battle City League (BCL). Cast your vote in the Best All BCL First Team thread in order to help us decide the most powerful all-star lineup in the games history. The All BCL First team is the strongest imagined lineup from any given season, meaning that the players in question were all actively playing the game at their best at the same time. We're not talking about a lineup of players that could never have existed for real because it is made up of the best players from 2005 and 2007 who never even played together, we're talking about the four best from a particular time period against the four best from another time period... Help us decide who would win by casting your vote today!

Battle City Staff Announcement September 2008!

Battle City Presents New Staff Members

As usual every third month new members of staff are announced. These are the people that will help run the game for the next three months. This time we have had an extraordinary amount of people applying for moderator so everyone did not make it this round.

The current moderators have all expressed their will to stay on and both Alex and Darkluigi will still be on the moderator squad. One of the oldest members of the team, Jizohn has been promoted to administrator. This means the game now have two administrators in addition to Weebo and Vindkast.

Returning from older duty are Bartsie and Rise Against. They have both served as event hosts or moderators in the past and know the drill. We all remember Rise's gauntlets and look forward to see those again.

Completely new to the moderator team is Platypus. Although he is still by many considered fairly new to the game he has shown a good learning curve and an exceptional attitude towards friends and foes on the battlefield. Also Spyderman joins the moderators and it is also his first time as a moderator, tho he has had access to modaccounts before working on his city designs package.

Please welcome the new staff an thank you to all that applied!

It's back to school time for a good portion of our community which means its back to procrastinating and playing Battle City instead of studying!

Back to school also means a new opportunity to join the Battle City Staff. If you're interested, visit the Battle City Staff page for details. New moderators will be announced at the start of September.

Moderators help make the game more fun for the community by organizing and running events. Remember though, you don't need to join the staff to help build a better Battle City. Simply playing the game is the best way to make Battle City more fun for everyone! The community is the most important part of the game, without the players the staff has nobody to serve!

New Images For Cloak and Flare

Good day citizens of Battle City!

Last week we rolled out two new images which are being used to represent the Cloak and Flare items. The images were designed and created by Lak Mobes, so please give him a big virtual high-five next time you see him! Interestingly enough, the old walkie and laser images are still included with the game, but as of now, their purpose remains a mystery...

Another new feature that has become a part of Battle City is the broadcasting of promotions. Whenever a player goes up a rank, a message it sent to all players online letting everyone know about the accomplishment. If you're online when someone gets a promotion, take a moment to send them a congratulatory private message!

Have you seen Platypus and Kaboom driving around with 9 new custom tanks over the last few days? Find out how you can win the same prize by reading more about the Battle City Fantasy League.

Other positive news is that June was the busiest month in recent Battle City history! July looks like it may be on route to do even better, with July 4th being the busiest day ever. In fact, the game went through over 300MB of bandwidth on July 4th which is a significant amount when you consider just how small packets are! Five city battles can get quite hectic!

New Battle City Staff Annoucement

Thank you everyone who has contributed to building a better Battle City over the last three months. All your efforts are greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten. In fact, May 31st turned out to be the busiest day we've seen on Battle City in the last three months thanks to contributions from both the players and staff.

Today I would like to take a moment to announce the new Battle City Staff that will help lead the game forward for the next three months.

Save and Load City Designs In-Game

One common question new players often ask is, "What will happen to my city when I leave?" New players are often sad to hear that it will either vanish or be orbed by the time they return to play again and will thus be forced to rebuild it.

This is no longer the case! As of Battle City 3.5.2, if you take the time to build a great city, you can save the design! The next time you play, you can either load your saved design or build a new one.

To save your city design, type /save name. To load your city design type /load name (where name is whatever you want to save your design as!)

If you log on to play Battle City and nobody else is online, instead of signing off, stick around a little bit and build yourself some city designs that you can load in the future. Having a solid design for as many cities as possible will be your key to success and many orbs in your battles to come! With the ability to load a saved design, you can now get back into the action much quicker! If you want revenge against the team that orbed you, loading a design will help you get back to attacking your enemy within minutes...!

New Cloak Item!

Remember the good old days when you could always count on your radar to let you know when an attacker was incoming? Those days are gone thanks to the new cloak item. Never again will you be able to sit and relax in your base because by the time an attacker does show up on radar, it may already be too late for your city! Players must always be on high-alert while on defense; you never know when an attacker might sneak up on you!

Thankfully the great powers of the new cloaking item has one weakness... The cloaking process can be heard by all who are near. So... while you may not know where the incoming attacker is, if you listen carefully, you will know that someone is indeed sneaking around. Keep in mind, the cloak does not make you invisible, it only provides stealth abilities such that you cannot be detected by radar. If defenders are scouting the area surrounding their base well, they can indeed find the attacker.

Cloaking won't last long, but each city has 4 cloaking devices and therefore a single player could potentially cloak 4 times in a row to stay off radar a long time! To compensate, when under attack, your home arrow will now flash red! Even if an enemy is attacking you while cloaked, sensors will notify you as soon as a building is destroyed so that you can start looking for the evil culprit rather than twiddling your thumbs and thinking all is well in the world.

Now that we have a team of moderators, I figured it would be a good idea to have something in writing so that the administration can be consistent and so that the players have an idea of what standards they will be held to.

Just so everyone knows, Weebo, Nightwish, and the moderators are not looking to crack down on anyone. Ideally, we'd like problems to be sorted out on the Battlefield, so enforcing the rules and kicking players really is a last resort. As long as everyone uses their common sense and plays fair, it won't ever come to that. The idea is just to keep the game fair and fun for everyone.

Battle City Rules & Guidelines
A list of prohibited activities.

1) Attempting to gain an unfair advantage on the battlefield.
This includes the use of cheat programs and the exploitation of bugs in the game.
If you are cheating, you will be immediately banned from Battle City. If you are exploiting a bug, you will be warned then kicked if you continue to exploit the bug.

2) Attempting to accumulate points outside of normal game-play.
This includes playing "21" and turret rushing unresponsive players so that they are killed each time they re-spawn.
Points earned in this way will be removed from your account at a rate of 2x. (Ex: Orb ten 50 pointers playing 21 and you will be reset by 1000 points)

3) Preventing other players from participating in the game. ***
This includes attacking cities before they are orbable and blocking or turret rushing the town centers of empty cities.

4) Purposely interfering with Battle City events. ***
This includes destroying event arenas or trying to orb event cities.

5) Excessive use of offensive language. ***
This includes personal attacks on other players and the use of racial insults or excessive profanity.

6) Other behavior which is detrimental to the game or community. ***
This includes sabotaging, demoing, and any other behaviors which have a negative effect on Battle City. Use your common sense.

*** The participation in any of these activities or behaviors will initially result in a warning. Subsequent offenses will result in a 10 minute kick. Continued disregard for the games rules will lead to increasingly longer bans.

Be civil and use your common sense. Remember, you'll have the most fun when those around you are also having a good time!

Battle City is a great game with a great community of players. In order to help make it even better, we're looking to recruit some new active staff members.

They key to building a better Battle City is teamwork. We need developers to listen to the community and code a better and better game. We need administrators to organize events and activities. We need moderators to help run the events and activities. We need Guides to teach and play with new players. We need players to play and enjoy the game!

Rise Against has scheduled a Gauntlet for Saturday February 9th! Tell everyone you can about it and be there yourself! Read more about the Gauntlet here.

Congrats to Kaboom! and the others who finished on the Monthly Top 20 for January. All 20 of these players have won a 1 month city-rental for any city they'd like (Admin Inn and Balkh excluded). If you haven't seen the full list yet, check out the Overall Top 5 of 2007. The final results crowned Merloch as Top Orber, cseow as Top Mayor, JetLi as Top Defender and Deceth as Top Awesome. The High Definition Orbers were also crowned as the Top Clan of 2007.

In order to get some players back onto the battlefield, a giant email list has been created, presently containing 16,138 addresses taken from the games database. We've begun contacting these people with the hopes that some will re-join the grand battle for control and dominance of BattleCity.
