Bayan Knights founder Gilbert Monsanto finally speaks...

"A few weeks ago, a meeting was held with an unexpected outcome. Each voice was heard. I agreed on most of them. Some of the efforts we’ve done so far are not enough. Some tasks are not moving forward while some members are left feeling useless. Something had to be done. With members upwards of five dozen unique and talented Pinoys, one book was just not enough. And they’re asking for something better for their original characters.
So a choice had to be made. A new direction had to be created. Not an easy task–and something some people might think is as nuts as our original goal. “WE ARE ONE” represented what Bayan Knights was all about. A family of heroic ideals… focused on how to support one another for the komiks industry’s common good.
We’re beyond that now. We are no longer one. Separately, we’ll grow and that is what we’ve decided that day: To grow apart. We are one no more. There will be changes and if you want to know what really happened… click the link below.

BK Cosplayer wins at the MetroCon

We can't thank Heloise "Kent" Diamante enough for wanting to cosplay as Audrey De Leon's Takip-Silim. She made us doubly proud by winning as the best cosplayer of a local character at the Metro Comic Con cosplay competition. Thank you so much, Kent! You were brilliant!

On 26 August 2008, the first members of the Bayan Knights "met" at the group's very first online conference. Two years later, we now have more than 50 members, four issues of our main storyline, and countless books from our roster of creators. What have the past two years been like for us? Freaking awesome!

And we have all of you to thank for making it all possible.

We celebrated our anniversary a few days early at the recently concluded MetroCon. The event was everything it promised to be and we got to meet some of you there too!

Here we have Manila Man and long-time supporter Jaybee Bonus (fourth from the left) who gifted us with way too cool Bayan Knights keychains. We really loved them, Jaybee!

Sarra Jean Navorra dropped by our table too and got a warm reception from Paul Michael Ignacio and Erico Calimlim :)

Over at the Indie Go Valley, Kai Castillo got along splendidly with Wan Mañanita, ~Eunice Gamboa and Rh Quilantang

This con wasn't without it's own starstruck moment. RJ Ledesma went home with an armload of our books!

About a week before the MetroCon, we were invited by the Loyola Book Club of the Ateneo de Manila High School to take part in their Linggo ng Wika activities. We had a grand time meeting the students and talking about making comics. We are very grateful to the club's moderator, Prof. Joel Falgui, for the incredible support!

As for our New OC recruitment contest, a total of nine (9) recruits made it to the deadline We're going through their "applications" as we speak and we have to say we're very impressed. You guys really gave it your all. Thank you so much!!!

Sarge btw has confirmed that it's okay for you guys to post your origin pages on your respective DA galleries. You can certainly mention that the pages were created for our contest, but we'd like to request that anyone refrain from labeling their OC as an official Bayan Knights member until the winner is announced. As stated in the contest rules, only the winner will become part of the Bayan Knights narrative.

While the entries are being reviewed, we also will not be able to post them in our main gallery. We hope you all understand :)

In behalf of all the Bayan Knights, we thank those who bought our comics, asked for autographs, took pictures with us and basically everyone who dropped by our booth to chat during the 2-day Metro Comic Con! More pictures and a proper report about the event to come soon (hopefully, hehe!..)

We'd also like to announce that our Recruitment Contest is now officially over! The 2-pagers we received were impressive and we thank those who took the time to join the fun and share their creations. We'll be announcing the winner pretty soon so keep checking our blog, our DeviantArt account and/or our group's Facebook page.
