Congrats to AnnaJudgeApril as the winner of Youth Advolution for Health's "Love +ve" songwriting competition! Held in conjunction with Baybeats 08, the competition was open to the 11 Baybeats Audition Finalists to come up with their best interpretation of love and its power to prevent HIV/AIDs. Baybeats Character - Silkscreen Design Challenge

Design a quirky character that you think best represents Baybeats and fits our Baybeats 08 virtual wonderland and send your design to us! Our judges will select the top 10 designs, and one of these 10 will be voted by the public to be used as this year's Baybeats character. This will then be the design which everyone will want to transfer on anything printable at our silkscreen printing counter at Baybeats 2008! Interested? Fill up the online entry form by clicking on the "Silkscreen Design Challenge" on the menu to your right, and send in your design now! Closing date: 25 July. Voting starts 29 July to 10 Aug

We want YOU. To be our official Baybeats 2008 Photographer, we mean. If you want to show off your amazing photographic talent and have your pictures included in Baybeats 2009's photo exhibition, this is what you have to do: 1. Compress, zip up and submit no more than 5 samples from your own photographic portfolio. All samples must include caption text. 2. State your name, contact number, email address and age. 3. Email submissions to baybeats@esplanade.com by 18 July, Fri. Files should not be bigger than 3MB. Late entries will NOT be considered. 4. Wait for our response. 5. If you're selected, we'll give you special passes to Baybeats 2008 so that you can snap the shots you want! Note: All photographers showcased on Baybeats website will be credited. Esplanade reserves the right to all photographs taken at Baybeats 2008.

Baybeats Returns!

HEY!!!! We're back... once again bringing you that annual cradle of bubbling, boiling, burning guitar riffs, huge talent and kick-ass energy we call Baybeats!

And from 29 - 31 August, Esplanade's own alternative music festival pumps out, fast and furious, set after set of great music by independent bands at Esplanade's outdoor venues and a couple of indoor spaces.

Delivering a mashup of punk, indie-pop, electro, emo, post-rock and more live and loud is an exciting lineup of acts that includes local, regional and international bands, both fresh and well-established. And the best thing about it is that it is FREE!

Debuting on the big stage include 11 young homegrown bands, fresh off our Baybeats auditions held in January this year. And of course, it's hats-off-and-stiff-salute to the veterans, our guardians of original alternative and indie music, the pioneers who walked the path and led the way.

Stay tuned for updates on the acts, events and artist interviews right up till the launch of the festival. In the meanwhile, get your gear ready and rest up. For August will be here before you know it. See you then!
