Above all of the benefits that i received from this session is that it made me realize the beauty of my religion that i had taken granted for that long. It motivated me to strive for more knowledge and deeper understanding of Quran and Islam.

One more testimonial about the same course,

It is truly remarkable how eloquent the Quran is and this course has helped me appreciate this miraculous Book of Allah (swt). This has to be the best grammer course I have taken thus far! Brother Nouman explains the rules of grammer in a very logical and easy-to-remember fashion with examples using phrases and sentences in English.

We’d like to thank all those who participated in our Bayyinah Summer programs for sending us their feedback. We wanted to share some of the comments we received,

I am so lucky to have been in Brother Wisam’s presence for the past ten days. He will never know how much he bettered my life. His stories were incredible and are etched into my mind. I have already made immediate changes with the knowledge he bestowed upon us. For example, when I pray Fatiha, I do stop and wait to hear Allah’s swt response. I love his philosophy on sins in this world. He says, take care of your sins in this world, so you you dont have to pay for them in the hereafter. …. I can never explain in words what I got out of this course. I got more than I ever thought I would. I wish everyone can take this course at least once and learn from Brother Wisam. -Student from Houston

The following comment is from a sister who took the 101 Reading course which is only offered in the Summer,

Regarding the system, I would like to mention that as a convert sister from Mexico, the whole Arabic alphabet seemed like a puzzle to me, let alone opening a page of the Glorious Quran and trying to recite it.
I, as many sisters I know, had taken a few basic courses, consulted several language teachers, filled pages of exercises and still struggled with the recognition and memorization of only the letters!
As I mentioned I am a couple of days away from completing the course, inshallah, and I can proudly recognize and assemble words and even some short sentences ( after a little time, of course). But, Mashallah! The system seems so simple, no heavy memorization and complicated explanations and tricks, yet it has worked wonderfully for me. Now all those strange symbols and squiggly lines make sense to me.

We also launched another new course during the summer – 103 Advanced Tajweed,

After recently attending the Bayyinah Tajweed 103 class, I have to say, I’m so amazed. Alhamdulillah, in ten days, Br. Wisam not only helped us to improve and implement the rules he taught us in his 102 class, he helped us to pray better, read better, and just BE better. I feel that after taking this class, not only did my attention to grammar improve by default; because to recite with proper tajweed you have to know how the words are spelled; my concentration during salah also improved dramatically.

Masha Allah, his teaching style makes something that used to seem so daunting, so achievable. And his sense of humor makes the class so much more interesting. He gave each of us individual attention and constuctive criticism. I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to take thier learning of tajweed to the next level.

The Qur’an for Family series is our newest initiative at Bayyinah. It is a series of family friendly, affordable, insightful and enjoyable programs designed to inspire and motivate the entire family to build a strong bond with the Final Word.

How Does it Work?

One of the requests that Bayyinah receives regularly is for instructors to visit a community more frequently, and for more Quranic studies programs. Not just Quranic studies programs, but ones that the whole family can come and enjoy.

With this in mind, we launched the Quran for Family series in June 2010. The structure of the program is to take one surah and cover it in a half day format (11am to 6pm). It is something that the whole family can attend and benefit from.

Which Surahs Are Being Taught?

At present, Surah Rahman and Surah Fussilat are the two seminars being taught in the Quran for Family program.

Who’s Teaching?

Bayyinah instructors Nouman Ali Khan and AbdulNasir Jangda will be teaching the seminars.

How Do We Bring it To Our Community?

Quran for Family is only being taught at locations that have previously held a Bayyinah weekend seminar (Essentials of Tajweed, Divine Speech, and/or Meaningful Prayer). To bring it to your community, click here for more information.

Alhamdulillah, an article about Bayyinah was published in Souther California’s InFocus.

Here’s an excerpt:

To improve their relationship with their Creator, close to 250 enthusiastic students filled the main prayer hall of the Islamic Institute of Orange County to benefit from Jangda’s class, entitled “Meaningful Prayer,” that took place March 26 – 28.

Step by step, Jangda, who is one of the three main instructors at Bayyinah, covered the deeper meaning of the Arabic supplications that Muslims all over the world recite.

Jangda delved into root words, gave compelling stories about the significance of certain supplications from the time of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), and peppered his lectures with modern day examples.

Jangda, who has now taught the class to over 1500 students, said he is humbled and motivated by the feedback he has received.

Alhamdulillah, we were able to finish raising the necessary funds needed to kick-start the Dream campus. JazakumAllahu khayran to everyone who helped out. There are many people who helped out not only financially, but also with promoting the project and spreading the word – we ask Allah (swt) to reward you all for your efforts and help in helping us get this project off the ground.

Secondly, we wanted to encourage people to continue to apply for the Dream program. If you are at all considering the possibility of attending for this upcoming year and are ready to make the commitment, we encourage you to go ahead and apply. We expect the inaugural year to be one of the best insha’Allah, especially because this is the only year that is guaranteed to have all 3 Bayyinah instructors heavily involved for the 10 month duration.

Many of you have a lot of questions regarding moving to Dallas before you apply for Dream. So without further ado, here’s the questions answered.

The Dream program runs from September 20th, 2010 until June 24, 2011. Eids will be off , as well as possibly a one week break at the end of December.

You will find a video below, along with written answers to the questions listed here. If you are still considering applying for Dream – or already have, this is vital information and is worth the 20-30 minutes it will take to process all the information contained here.

Questions related to the instructors/curriculum are addressed in the video directly – most specifically concerns about the immersion aspect of the program and it being the first year of the program.

What are the living costs?

Can Bayyinah help me find a roommate for Dream?

What if I can’t afford the tuition/living expenses?

What are the apartments like in the area? Muslim families?

Do I need a car?

Are there halal restaurants nearby? Is it easy to find biryani and shwarmas in Texas, or do they only have non-zabihah BBQ and beef jerky?

I have kids, is child care going to be provided? What are the schooling options for my other kids?

Can I work a job in the evenings during Dream?

Click here to view the embedded video.

1. What are the living costs?

There are a lot of apartment buildings within a 5-15 minute radius of the campus. It should not be difficult to find anything between a 1 bedroom apartment [or even a smaller studio for cheaper] up to a 3 bedroom apartment.

We are recommending that anyone looking to rent an apartment utilize JW Ellis apartment locators. We have already spoken to them and explained the situation with Dream. They already know to look for properties nearby the campus, and also look for properties that will let you sign a lease of 6-10 months.

Please keep in mind apartment availability will NOT be known until mid July. As a rule of thumb, they won’t know if an apartment is available until 60 days before you need to move in.

USE THIS PDF FILE FOR INFORMATION ON APARTMENT PRICING IN THE AREA, AS WELL AS THE CONTACT TO THE APARTMENT LOCATOR.

The nearby cities for looking for an apartment are: Euless, Irving, Valley Ranch/Las Colinas.

Aside from the rental costs outlined in the brochure above, keep in mind your other general utilities: Electricity, Gas, Water, and Internet/phone.

2. Can Bayyinah help me find a roommate?

YES. Once accepted, if you need a roommate, please reach out to us. We’ll facilitate putting you together in groups of 2-4 depending on your preferences. But this should significantly cut down expenses for most. If 4 people share a 2 bedroom apartment in the area (roughly $800-900) they could each pay 200-250 a month.

3. What if I can’t afford the tuition/living expenses?

We would still encourage you to go ahead and apply. We are working on a document that can be presented to local communities and masajid to encourage them to sponsor students for the program.

4. What kind of apartments are in the area?

There’s a large concentration of Muslim families in the immediate vicinity of the campus, and thus a lot of them in nearby apartment complexes as well. In regards to things like safety, crime, and so on, then you can always get the vital statistics from local Police Departments. Overall though, the nearby areas are nice and there should not be much cause for concern.

5. Do I need a car?

In general, yes. Public transportation is not very common here, and neither is walking. Everything is bigger in Texas, including the distances between places, so having a car is very much a way of life here. Most of the students – especially if they’re living together should be able to carpool. Our advice though, is if you have a car, you should probably drive it down here for Dream. It would be best if you ended up rooming with a student that has a car and perhaps chip in for fuel etc.

6. Food?

The campus will have a small kitchen area available with microwaves and such, but we will not be able to provide full meals. There are a few halal restaurants and halal grocery stores in the immediate vicinity. As always, you can consult zabihah.com for more information. Within a 5 minute radius of the campus there are at least 4-5 halal restaurants and 1 large halal supermarket.

We are in also looking to set up restaurant and non-restaurant catering options that take advantage of our power in numbers. The idea is to take care of a couple of days of the week in terms of lunch and dinner at a fraction of what it would cost at the restaurant.

7. Kids, daycare, and school?

We haven’t yet decided on childcare at Dream, but most likely we will not be able to provide it. We will make accommodations for families with young children though. A mother’s room will be available where audio of the class will be broadcast, along with a screen displaying any instructor presentation.

Charter Schools: Manara Academy (also offers Arabic as a second language)

Public Schools: The local public school districts are Irving ISD, and HEB ISD. At a bit more of a drive are top-ranked Grapevine-Colleyville ISD and Carroll ISD.

Islamic Schools: Irving Islamic School

8. Can I work while doing Dream?

Class is 6 days a week [Fridays off], from roughly 8am to 4pm. While it is possible someone can work evenings and Fridays, it will still be difficult to balance with studies. Also keep in mind that one of the goals of Dream is to also hold some elective courses in the evening time 1-2 times a week.

When I myself started learning Arabic and the Qur’an I dreamed of a program I could join that would be concise, thorough and effective right here in the United States. That dream remained unfulfilled for me but my mission became to create such an opportunity for others; to have students achieve in ten months what I myself couldn’t in almost ten years of consistent self study. That dream has finally become a reality by the grace of Allah. To those of you that feel the burning desire to understand what is being recited by the imam, to those of you that have dreamed of becoming from the best of us who learn the Qur’an and teach it and to those of you who asked Allah for an opportunity to learn an understand His book without the filter of translation, I challenge you to take this journey with me and my colleagues for ten months!
