The bbq restaurants get 25% of the air time for free to advertise and highlight their restaurant specials and events. The other 75% has bbq event, bbq information, bbq related news and other bbq lifestyle items on display. These montiors are FREE to the barbecue restaurants and the restaurant becomes part of the first Barbecue Only Lifestyle Network.

If you have a bbq product such as a sauce, smoker, rub, grill etc……. you will have the opportunity to advertise and highlight your products on this private bbq only network.

WOW… what can I say about Moonlite Bar-B-Q in Owensboro, KY but FANTASTIC. If you are looking for traditional Kentucky style barbecue there is no better place than Moonlite. Moonlite has been a fixture in Owensboro, Kentucky for more than 40 years and is the standard by which Kentucky style bbq is measured. Did I mention that unlike most barbecue restaruants Moonlite has a buffet? Talk about overeating!! The buffet includes pulled pork, pork ribs, mutton (a definite Kentucky specialty) and beef. The meat is tender, juicy and above all great tasting. There are no sauces and rubs added and the taste of the meat stands on it’s own. Of course Moonlite has there own specialty sauces that you can add including a hot bbq sauce that is out of this world. In addition to the meat there are traditional extras like green beans, corn, macaroni and cheese (yum yum - not that boxed crap either), mashed potatoes, baked beans, white beans, cornbread and rolls. It is no wonder us Kentuckians have a weight problem. Moonite is also famous for another traditional bbq treat in addition to mutton and that is burgoo. The burgoo is steaming hot and full of flavor. For more info on Burgoo click here.

Moonlite Bar-B-Q is located in Owensboro KY which is along the Ohio river. The nearest Interstates are about 50 miles away with I64 to the north in Indiana and I65 to the east from Elizabethtown KY to Bowling Green KY. The Western KY Parkway also go within about 35 miles of Owensboro. There are a lot of great bbq restaraunts in Kentucky, but Moonlite is one that you definitely need to stop at and eat. When you visit be sure to tell Pat Bosley (what a great fellow….. this man knows barbecue and he knows how to run a top notch restaurant) that BBQHub.com told you to stop in eat.

I realize this is a barbecue oriented blog but I like a good pot of chili now and then and I like my chili nice and hot. My wife doesn’t like it nice and hot (wimp). Anyway, to get that heat I use Baboon Ass Brand Habanero Sauce from Rojos Gourmet. This stuff is great. You control how much heat by how much you put in a bowl. It has a great taste and your mouth will feel some tingle going on. If you like it super hot Baboon Ass also comes in Gone Rabid which is a whole different level. So as we gear up for cold winter months and you start digging out your chili recipes, be sure to spice it up a bit with some hot sauce. By the way, Baboon Ass goes great with eggs, pizza, barbecue (especially bbq chicken), Mexican food and just about anything else you can eat. Hell, my next door neighbor puts it on plain saltine crackers…. he loves the stuff.

I suppose I could write this review of Big Bob Gibson’s Bar-B-Q Restaurant in Decatur AL with just three words; OH MY GOD !!!

I have had a lot of barbecue but I have to say this is as good as it gets. While on a business trip to Alabama we saw the billboard outside of Decatur AL on I-65 for Big Bob Gibson’s and decided on the way back home we would stop in. After all Bob Gibson is a member of BBQ royalty and we were not about to pass up this opportunity.

As soon as we got out of the car the aroma from the smokers swirled around hour heads and it was definitely a sweet sweet smell. The parking lot was packed which was another good sign. When we were in we were met by a gentleman who welcomed us in and told us to have a seat. Our server ( I wish I could remember her name ) came over to bring us our menu. Let me tell you, this gal was top notch…….. Cecil and I decided to go the full route and order the Ribs and three other meats and sides. I had the ribs, chicken, brisket and pulled pork with potato salad and baked beans. The photos tell the story. I can’t begin to describe the taste. It truly was out of this world. I picked up a rib and the bone slid right out of the meat clean as a whistle. I took my first bite of the ribs and I knew I had tasted years and years of experience. Next came the brisket, chicken and pork. All were out of this world. Being from Kentucky I am especially fond of pulled pork and am very critical of how people make it but I didn’t have a problem with this at all………..excellent.

ALL DONE - WHEW, I’M STUFFED

We sampled the sauces that were made by Bob Gibson and they were equally good and just added to the flavor, but we both agreed the barbecue stood on it’s own and did not need any extra help from sauces. By the way…….. the White Sauce is out of this world. The baked beans and potato salad were very very good. My mom makes great potato salad and at 74 she is an expert. Big Bob’s potato salad is just a good as my moms is and that says a lot.

Things were wound up with a Coconut Cream Pie that literally melted in your mouth. We were truly content and well stuffed when we were finished. The only bad part was we still had almost 200 miles ahead of us to get home and what we really wanted was a nap.

I will have to say that Big Bob Gibson’s Bar-B-Q Restaurant is now at the top of my list. Also Kudos to the manager Rick Talley……… a great guy and very friendly.

My rating for this bbq restaurant is a full 10 out of 10
