Ricevo questa inaspettata email da Radio Cina Internazionale.
Una piccolo cosa in fondo ma e’ importante quando c’e’ qualcuno che soffre e sapere che dalla lontana Cina hanno voluto fare il bel gesto di scrivermi in quanto italiano, emiliano e modenese nello specifico, l’ho molto apprezzato.
Per cio’ che mi concerne, abito abbastanza lontano dall’epicentro da non aver subito danni ma ad altre mie conoscenze non e’ andata cosi’ bene ed e’ soprattutto a loro che giro l’affetto della redazione.

Caro Massimiliano,
Siamo molto dispiaciuti per la tragedia che ha colpito la regione Emilia-Romagna. Siamo sempre vicini a voi.

The game is to reach as many continents as possible, 19 pirates have registerd them self to the Dx list.

Onde corte on the road

Vorrei rendervi partecipi delle parolacce nuove di zecca che ho coniato per la seconda rottura del turbo in un mese e mezzo ma non essendo questo il luogo piu’ indicato mi riservo di farlo privatamente in email per chi ne facesse gentile richiesta.
Auto sostitutiva quindi e dopo una tragica Fiat Cinquecento che facevo prima ad infilarmi in tasca che a parcheggiare, impietosito il meccanico mi rifila una Renault Twingo della quale non ricordo il modello ma credo sia stata proibita in 42 paesi in quanto lesiva della dignita’ dell’uomo e in altri 12 come strumento di tortura.
Sconsolato accendo l’autoradio e gia’ le onde medie mi sorprendono per pulizia e potenza del segnale malgrado sia appena l’imbrunire e ancor di piu’ le onde lunghe arrivano con inusuale chiarezza, perlomeno rispetto la mia Citroen Picasso.
Un giro veloce, ripremo il tastino del cambio banda e a momenti mi prende un colpo quando leggo 5800 kHz: onde corte su questa trappola? Possibile?
Non solo possibile ma fino ai 6200 kHz sembra di essere in FM per densita’ di stazioni e qualita’ del segnale.
Ancora incredulo decido di giocarmi una carta sognata da tempo, onde corte da compagnia musicale durante un viaggio e l’occasione viene da un giretto dai monti sino in citta’, un’oretta di viaggio, condizioni d’ascolto molto diverse e fascia oraria perfetta per “The mighty KBC“, 6095 kHz e grandissima musica trasmessa nei fine settimana.
Ebbene Emperor Rosko per potenza pare trasmettere da un network FM nazionale e la sua musica condotta nello stile inconfondibile che lo contraddistingue, pare guidare al posto mio.
Non so, forse e’ complice il sole caldo ma non troppo, il finestrino che terrei comunque abbassato perche’ con questo clima l’aria condizionata e’ una bestemmia o forse i troppi film americani con i loro viaggi liberi mentre quella musica, quei DJ e quell’aria soffia forte ma e’ un viaggio bellissimo.
Per un istante sale una rabbia sorda pensando a come potrebbero essere le nostre radio in FM tutte uguali, piene di gente che riempie il tempo con niente perche’ incapaci di parlare di musica e le solite canzoni ben allineate come scatolette di carne in gelatina su uno scaffale, poi torno alle onde corte, a KBC Radio ora condotta da Dave Mason e continuo a godermi la magia del momento.
Ebbene il radioascolto non e’ solo tecnica ma chi lo pratica questo lo sa gia’ e quando si dice che non tutti i mali vengono per nuocere, puo’ essere persino vero.

Accorato appello per un ascolto “differente” da FRSH

Following our October & December 2011 broadcasts, FRS-Holland will take to the airwaves with its first 2012 activity next Sunday February 26th.
FRSH will be on 7600//6240 kHz for no less than 6 hours between 07.52- 14.03 UTC/ 08.52- 15.03 CET.
Pxs will be presented by Jan van Dijk doing the German show, Dave Scott will be playing classic rock .
Paul Graham will host another great 60s/70s FRS Golden Show.
Peter Verbruggen will look back to what happened in the past on February 26th (Day Calendar) and plays a mix of mainly 80s/90s/00s music in FRS Magazine.
He will also host a FRS Goes DX show with the latest news from the wonderful world of wireless.
As you will know, The Free Radio Service Holland is more than ‘just playing music’.
In all shows radio related items are included.
This is for the keen free radio enthusiast vital and most interesting.

The quality of some reports is very poor which is frustrating and discouraging for a team that works very hard and serious to provide you with 6 hours of Sunday entertainment….
A reception report should (in our eyes) cover a period of 30 minutes and should contain information about your QTH (where do you listen from), receiver, antenna, times of reception, SINPO codes and last but not least programme information (details about what you heard on air: pop music or jingle is not ok > Brown Sugar – Rolling Stones or sonovox jingle FRS-Holland, Just a bit Different is much better!).
I realize this should sound quite familiar to DX-ers…reality is however – to use our own slogan- ‘just a bit different’ !

Save BNR Radio Bulgaria on shortwave and medium wave

Dear listeners and friends of shortwave and Radio Bulgaria, With a huge regret I’d like to inform you very bad news.
After more than 75 years in the world broadcasting from January 31, 2012 at 2200UT Radio Bulgaria cease broadcasting on shortwave and medium wave.
The shortwave transmitters in Kostinbrod & Padarsko will be destroyed in the next few months.
Radio Bulgaria is not necessary now to its shortwave and medium waves listeners.

The reason

No money for broadcasting on shortwave and medium waves. And who listens to short waves today?
We have internet. Maintaining the shortwave transmitters was “Mission Impossible”! Hope dies last.
As a frequency manager in the last 19 years my main task was to provide best quality signal of Radio Bulgaria in worldwide coverage.
There will be no shortwave, there will be no frequency manager. For all people who work in Radio Bulgaria that bad news is shock and horror. Beginning of the end. But we expect your moral support.

SAQ ci riprova il 10 Gennaio

Dopo la triste vigilia di Natale senza SAQ, da Grimeton annunciano che

Extra test transmission on Tuesday 10th January
We believe that we have found the trouble with the alternator on Christmas Eve and put it right.
Probably we may use the antenna for a short while on Tuesday 10th January, so we are planning a test transmission at 13:30 UTC on 17.2 kHz CW.
No message will be sent, we just send the test sequence VVV DE SAQ.
We plan to be on air for half an hour, to give an opportunity to our listeners to test their equipment.
Listeners’ reports will not be confirmed by QSL cards.

The problem with SAQ on Christmas Eve
The reason for the trouble with SAQ on Chrismas Eve was most probably a damaged fuse in the excitation circuit for the 500 V rectifier.
The fuse was not completely blown but measured a very high resistance (150 ohm).
When we lost the excitation current to the DC generator, we also lost the control current to the choke coils in the conductors to the main motor, and thereby the speed control of the alternator.
It was confusing that the problem occured exactly when we connected the running alternator to the antenna.
We were actually on air a few seconds with decreasing frequency until the antenna was disconnected by the protection circuit in the speed control.
