An old adage in sales is that “the customer is always right.” Over the years as retailer grew large, profit margins faded and experienced salespeople grew scarce, there seemed to be less interest in the customer.

People grudgingly accepted the lack of customer service as the price they paid for cheap products. They complained, but they bought anyway because that’s just the way it was. Online shopping, while distant, is more customer centered than many local retailers.

To develop a rapport with customers in a virtual environment, online marketers had to establish trust and they did it with money back guarantees plus fast delivery. This customer-centered approach not only created trust as planned, but also caused a surprising number of customers to ignore the local stores and shop at major retailers’ online sites.

As a developing Internet marketer, you can learn from this brief history. You want to position your product as user friendly and open for refund. Granted, this is easier with downloads and information products than with shipped products.

But even shipped products that offer guaranteed, no questions asked refunds actually have fewer refunds because the consumer feels free to try to return it if they’re not satisfied. Before the sale, you want to provide ample information about the product – including several photo views if appropriate.

Think about the questions a buyer might ask and have the answers ready before the question arrives. An easy way to provide this information is with an expanded FAQ (frequently asked questions) page. Make sure there’s a link to the FAQ page from each product page.

If your product requires assembly after delivery, post an extra copy of how to assemble it. Even better is to post a video showing and telling how to do the assembly. Another great idea is to post videos showing alternative ways to use the product. This gives buyers options that they might not have considered.

To be consumer-centered means that you can be reached easily. Post your email (or that of your customer service center) and a phone number or SKPYE name. If you are the “Customer service center,” send those emails to a designated email box and answer them promptly.

If you can’t, at least set up an autoresponder saying that you received the customer’s email and are working on the solution. The more ways you can be contacted, the more the customer feels at ease that you aren’t hiding in some unreachable corner of cyberspace. You can’t shake hands with your online customer, but you can create an ongoing buying relationship by demonstrating that you’re a customer-centered online marketer.

For a beginning marketer, article marketing is a great way to make your first few hundred dollars. It’s easy and it’s fast to get started. Who should you article marketing, how do you get started and how do you achieve an exceptional level of success with article marketing? Read on to find out.

Who Should Use Article Marketing?

Article marketing is great for beginning marketers who’ve never gotten more than 5,000 visitors to their website. It’s a simple and fast way to get traffic to a website without having to invest money before you’ve made money.

If you’re already making money from paid traffic sources, you may not want to use article marketing. The time investment probably won’t be worth it.

What Can You Expect?

For every article you submit, you can expect 50 to 500 visitors over the course of a couple months if you only submit to article directories.

If you make one sale out of every 100 visitors, your sale is worth $40, you get 200 visitors per article and each article plus submission takes you an hour, then you’re getting paid $80 an hour.

Granted, you won’t get the entire $80 right away, it’ll take some time. Article traffic tends to trickle in rather than come all at once.

If you go beyond submitting to just article directories, you could get a lot more traffic than that.

The Basic “How To” of Article Marketing

The first step is keyword research. Go on the Google Keyword Tool and find a list of keywords with at least 1,000 to 10,000 searches. Next go into Google and type your keywords in, in quotes. For example, “How to tile my roof” in quotes. Ideally there should be less than 10,000 competing results.

Compile a list of 10 keywords that match these criteria. You’re looking for keywords with moderate search volume and not too much competition.

Put this keyword in your title tag and use it sporadically throughout your article. You’re targeting the top 5 rankings for the specific keyword you’re targeting, plus any other keyword you happen to rank for.

Submitting Your Articles

Once you’ve written your keyword targeted article, the next step is to submit and distribute your articles.

The first step is to submit your articles to article directories like EzineArticles. This will get you a small amount of traffic. Perhaps enough to be worth the effort, but you won’t build massive traffic just by submitting to directories.

The second step is to either send your articles to other websites in your industry, or offer to write original content for higher traffic websites.

Instead of just putting together an article and sending it to a directory, the big traffic is made when you get your articles picked up by many websites in your industry. You get relevant one-way links and targeted traffic.

Article Marketing in Short

In short, article marketing is great for someone looking to make their first few hundred dollars online. It’s also great for building a presence in your field, if you’re willing to go the extra mile.

Select your keywords carefully. Choose keywords with moderate search volume and low competition. Submit your articles to article directories for a moderate amount of traffic. Contact other website owners to have your articles posted if you want the big traffic.

Wise people have learned how to bypass the security guard of the mind for this important step. Then once the heart has taken command, the mind is called on as an able helper in fulfilling the desires of the heart. It makes a good servant. But only the heart is the true master.

Also it is best to keep this stage private and not share it with others. Families and friends are renown for sabotaging dreams before they even get formed as seeds. Then the damage is done. It’s not out of spite, but out of genuine worry that you will fail. And there is no better way to create failure than to fear it, is there? They may also secretly fear you will succeed, change and no longer need them. And people hate change. It takes them right out of their comfort zone.

Now when you manage to begin the required inner work, it will probably trigger a whole host of reactions, excuses and interference from your own mind. After all, you are disturbing your mind’s peace as well. So, you would be wise to begin with small things at first. This way you can train your mind to take direction form your heart, rather than letting it stifle your true desires.

Most important, it’s crucial never to give up. If you have been diligently doing this process for a while and then become discouraged, it means you are probably getting closer than you think. Do you remember the saying, “It’s always darkest before the dawn”? This stage is often your ego’s last ditch effort to keep it from losing control over you.

By persevering, this process will strength you further. You will be able to feed your heart more and more, day by day. Each genuine step, when taken, will move you in the direction of your heart’s desire. Now that is a life worth living.

Being highly productive today in this economy is one way to try to stem the tide of lay-off possibilities. Have you noticed that your computer has an automatic switch, that when triggered, it brings on a delay for you to continue working?

Just imagine, you are working along on your latest project when out of nowhere your system slows down. Ultimately it “freezes”. No more typing, or movement can be detected. It’s amazing how these occurrences happen almost daily.

It could be a million things, but really probably two options are at play here. The first is a windows auto update is being installed on your PC. The next option is probably beyond the scope of this piece because it delves into the dark world of Viruses, Trojans, bugs, malware, cyber-terror, remote key loggers and other tools that cyber-criminals use to ‘phish’ for your personal data in an effort to steal and profit from your identity.

So, we will focus on how to handle the Windows automatic updates that come switched on or set as default when you first purchased your computer.

For Windows XP you can alter your configurations easily. You can set your computer for manual updates. With manual updates switched on, you will no longer have Microsoft updating Windows, and a whole host of problems can arise if you do not keep a regularly updated copy of their operating system. So do not ignore updating your PC manually in hopes of greater efficiency.

Here are the steps you would take first, if staring at your desktop.

1. Navigate over to Start, Control Panel, and select Automatic Updates

2. Selecting automatic updates, choose a good time for your schedule when your PC would be left on. This would allow Microsoft to provide the regular updates but when you want them. Sometimes, these updates are two or three a day. It just depends on what Microsoft has to do. For some clients, leaving their computer on all night once a week eg. Sunday night is a good time. You would then select the exact hour you would allow them to update your system. It could be 3:00 AM if you like, just remember to leave your PC on all night.

3. Lets just recap these steps. When your in the Automatic Updates window, they offer four choices.
a. Automatic- where you choose a good time (Every Sunday, once a day etc. are all available.
b. Download updates for me, but let me choose when to install them.
c. Notify me but don’t automatically download or install them.
d. Turn off Automatic Updates. This last option is not recommended. Mainly because the Windows frame work is very unstable and has many security weak points. This is especially true of Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

After your system receives an update, the system forces a reboot. This is very problematic. One solution Microsoft attempted was a button that said, “would you like to install later?”

Unfortunately, it does not work. The systems next screen says “your system was just updated and requires immediate rebooting.” Regretfully, the update started prior to you saving the document.

Quite frustrating when you failed to complete that spreadsheet and it is now 4:57 PM and time for your daughters soccer match. So much for your productivity.

You can take the time right now which is really quite short, to customize your PC to update when you are less likely to need it. Some experts suggest updates once a week to be sufficient. Anything else appears to border on humans working for the computers.

Want to have an army of marketers marketing your product, so you’re getting paid doing almost zero work? It does take a little bit of work, but the rewards are well worth it. In this article we’ll talk about laying the groundwork for getting affiliates, how to attract affiliates and how to actively seek out and recruit super affiliates.

The Groundwork: Your Conversion Rate and Payouts

Your conversion rate and your payouts are two of the most important numbers that any affiliate marketer will look at.

What’s a good payout? If you’re selling a physical product or a workshop, 10% to 20% is standard. If you’re selling an information product, 50% to 90% is standard.

If you look through a bunch of affiliate programs, you’ll find that most infomarketers who are attracting a lot of affiliates are offering 60% or above commission. Even on Clickbank, where 75% commission is the limit, top marketers are often paypaling their top affiliates another 15% bonus on top.

Why is that? Would you rather make $4 on 2,000 orders a month, or keep the entire 100% and have no affiliates? The high commissions will attract more affiliates and super affiliates. Even if you only make a few dollars per order, it can be made up in sheer volume.

That’s how affiliate marketing works: You give away a cut, but you make it back in volume.

Clickbank, Commission Junction, CPA Networks

Affiliate networks are a powerful tool for getting more affiliates.

Clickbank is great for infomarketers. If you can get to the top of a category in Clickbank, you’ll make well over 500 sales on autopilot just from affiliate marketers.

The trick with Clickbank is attracting your first few affiliates and getting your Gravity rating above 10. After that, let your conversion rate and product attract the affiliates for you.

Commission Junction is great for physical products with lower payouts. It’s quite tricky to get on CJ. Usually they only accept major players who’ve been in the market for some time.

CPA networks are great if you can pay per action instead of per sale. If you can pay $3 for an email address or $6 for a form submit because you know your conversion rate, you can really make a killing put putting your product on those networks.

Finding Affiliates

One method of getting affiliates is to have a good product and conversion rate and attract affiliates by being on networks and offering a high payout. The second method is to actively seek out affiliates and super affiliates.

First, build a name for yourself in your own industry. Then start contacting people in your industry and offering to partner with them. Google your top keywords and contact the owners of the first 3 websites and see if they’d like to try promoting your product. Contact well known names and talk about JVing.

Also, meet people in person. Go to both marketing conventions and conferences in your industry. If you’re in health for example, go to both marketing conventions and health conventions.

At marketing conventions, you’ll meet “super affiliates” whose sole business is promoting other people’s products. At industry conventions, you’ll meet people in your industry with already high trafficked lists and websites. Build a relationship with these people, do something for their business, then ask them to try out promoting your products for a commission.

Even if you can’t make it to national conferences, go to your own local get togethers. Almost everywhere in the world are business and marketing mastermind groups and meetups. Almost everywhere in the world are smaller interest meetups.

In short, pay your affiliates extremely well, build a killer salespage, list your product on affiliate networks, become known in your industry and contact other known individuals, seek out affiliates and super affiliates at conferences and build your affiliate base.
