COUPLES’ GET-AWAY FOCUSES ON UNITY

U.N.I.T.Y. (Understand, Nurture, Identify, Treasure & Yearn) was the theme of the Couples’ Get-away, our way of culminating the highly successful Marriage Boosters series 2010! Couples from all seven batches who attended throughout the year scrambled for the limited slots to take part in the much anticipated Get-Away held at the Summit Ridge in Tagaytay on October 1-2. There were sprinkles of exciting sit-down sessions prepared for by Victory Alabang’s formidable couples, Pastor Chico & Mary Anne Pena, Ardy & Vera Abello, and of course, no other than Pastor Ariel Marquez himself; but more than that, there were practical activities that highlighted the marriage boosting experience such as the challenge to date with the limited budget of P500 and the sweet & intimate moment of slow-dancing of the husbands and wives that reduced many of us to tears! Marriage Boosters 2010 proved successful because of the willingness and the openness of the couples who participated in the series and in the Get-away event. There will be more opportunities to invest in your marriages and join the next batch of Marriage Boosters series in the coming year! Till then…

VICTORY ALABANG KIDS, MUSIC & USHERING MINISTRIES RE-TRAIN THIS JUNE

June was such a busy month for the volunteers of the Kids, Music & Ushering teams as we got down for some intense training in the area of ministry.

The challenge is for us to level up in our commitments, both by improving on our techniques and going back to the heart of service which is to honor God as we continue to serve in our church.

MUSIC MINISTRY

Training was much more intensive for the Music Ministry as we gathered both the new and the old Music Ministry volunteers for a 3-day workshop that included band orchestration, microphone handling, worship leading, stage presence and the likes. Dynamic discussions on the Heart of Worship and what it means to be a Worshiper also happened in full force! Speakers such as Jam Capistrano and Mayen Cadd graced the trainings, and Victory Alabang Worship pastor, Joel Barrios, took on one of the discussions.

KIDS MINISTRY

For the Kids Ministry, 85 volunteer teachers re-committed for a whole new level of raising a new generation to honor God and make disciples! The Vision on the children rising up was recast by Pastor Carlo and Kids Discipleship groups and teacher trainings were reinforced. Teachers who volunteered for the KIDS EN10 service were all revved and fired up that resulted in a highly successful Kids worship service last July 23!

USHERING MINISTRY

Even our ushers got down to the business of brainstorming and troubleshooting on the current challenges that the team is facing, determined to make every worship service so much more comfortable for everyone who come to hear the Word of God. Lessons on body language, Voice and Tone were also given to which our volunteers sponged up with eagerness. Talk about commitment! Not amissed was a discussion on the heart of service.

We definitely desire to serve the LORD all over again in all our ministries and we look forward to make things much more exciting and significant for everyone as we continue to grow together and proclaim Jesus from nation to nation as a church.**

YOUTH BOND CAMP BREAKS THROUGH THIS 2010

It’s just about time! More than 140 teenagers signed up for our Youth Camp this summer, eager to build relationships with other youngsters and to level up in their relationship with God. And level up, they did, as Pastor King Lucero, together with the Campus Ministers put their heads together to come up with a spectacular camp experience!

During the sessions, speakers Pastors Ariel Marquez & L.A. Mumar, and Campus Minister, Len Ambata addressed the most important relationships that the youth have at this point in their lives: their relationship with their parents, their relationships with their friends, and their relationship with God. Victory Alabang Youth head, Edrei Canda said that the most remarkable breakthrough in this year’s camp is the attendees’ encounter with God that brought all of them together in unity. This showed as they worshiped together and participated in all the action-packed activities set for them. This is only the beginning! Victory Alabang Youth will continue to soar to greater heights in the days to come!

We’ve made March all about Marriage! Victory Alabang had a month-long celebration this March, with the marriage preparation seminar “I DO” on Tuesdays and Marriage Boosters, a by-invitation-only series for seasoned couples, on Fridays. Romance is definitely in the air!

I DO wrapped up with Pastor Ariel Marquez touching up on Conflict Resolution and Finances, two very important things that a couple needs to prepare for before getting into the marriage; while Marriage Booster success was posted all over the Facebook statuses of couples who attended the sessions. This year, the Family Ministries Team led by Pastor Chico & Mary Anne Pena, tackled the most sensitive issues in marriages head on, bringing everyone back to the real heart of every union! Relationships were restored, romantic flames were fanned & couples are all the more eager to say their I Dos! Plans for another take on the Marriage Booster Series are taking place and United Weddings will soon be on the news! God is definitely taking His rightful place at the center of our families!**

COUPLES TROOP TO I DO

We have a diversified turnout of participants in this year’s Marriage Preparation Seminar that we entitled, I Do. I Do kicked off last March 9 with engaged, newly married, and seasoned couples lining up to have their pictures taken with their sweethearts in a photo booth especially set up just for them!

We had our usual game time before the first session started that boosted the excitement all the more among the participants. All eyes and ears were on Pastor Janssen Morados and his wife, Ging as they engaged the couples in the dynamic discussions for the night.

I Do continues for two more Tuesdays of the month with more lively and interactive sessions to look forward to.

Volunteers come together for Appreciation Night

We made it simple and relaxed. Volunteers’ appreciation night, which was set last January 27, was overflowing with friends, balloons, music, laughter and more importantly, food, food and more food!

We set up a giant videoke up front and representatives from each team belted their hearts out to the ditties of U2, David Cook and Lady Gaga. But the night was made more memorable with our dear Alabang pastors taking turns in wowing the volunteers with their own singing. The enthusiastic crowd went wild when Pastor Jun took center stage!

The Pastors, their wives and the staff served everyone their food and distributed the souvenirs. Pastor Ariel capped the evening by thanking all the volunteers for faithfully serving God and the church through their ministries for the past year and commended them for embracing the life of community and spiritual family. Everybody went home filled! Volunteer Weekend is coming up and we're signing up new volunteers. We look forward to seeing fresh faces joining us for next year's Volunteers' Night! See you then!

180-degree Boracay Singles Retreat

For the past ten months, the singles of Alabang have been praying, preparing and saving up for this year’s singles retreat to Boracay. Last September 17, they finally set foot on the powdery white shores of “Bora.” Many have the misconception that the season of singlehood is simply a time of transition. But, during the 4 days spent in Boracay, there was a 180-degree shift in the way they viewed their career, their character, and their relationships. To kick off the retreat was an evening of powerful worship along the beach and under the stars. After which, Pastor Janssen gave a timely word about our identity that can be found only in Christ.

Friday was packed with practical sessions on character and excellence. Everyone was pleasantly surprised to have Pastor Ariel Marquez fly in to join Pastor John and Pastor Janssen in ministering to the singles of Alabang. Following this was the much anticipated theme night wherein everyone got all dressed up for an exciting luau inspired party.

The remainder of the retreat was spent building new friendships over fun games, good food, and adventure-seeking water sports! They had a blast riding the Zorb, parasailing, reef walking, island hopping and so much more! Thankfully the sun was shining brightly and they were blessed with 4 days of great weather! Although no one wanted to leave the beautiful beaches of “Bora”, these 130 single men and women definitely returned to Manila ready to be maximized by God in their various fields of influence.

VICTORY ALABANG HELPS IN ONDOY RELIEF OPERATIONS

Victory Alabang is working hand in hand with the City of Muntinlupa in helping the victims of Tropical storm, Ondoy in our area. Since the storm passed, church members continue to donate food, clothing, shoes and medicine. Pastors, staff, businessmen, housewives, doctors, nurses and students all came together to help in the relief operation programs. We also took time to attend to the needs of our church members who were gravely affected by the recent flooding. We are looking forward to the rehabilitation programs planned by the local government. Until now, some Small Groups are coordinating to help out in the operations. It had been a tremendous opportunity to help one another, work together, pray together and share lives as a church and as a community. As we continue to reach out to others in need, we bear in our hearts that we are actually expressing our love for our savior, Jesus Christ (Matthew 25:40).

UNITED WEDDINGS BRINGS VICTORY ALABANG CHURCH CLOSER.

United Weddings is one of the most anticipated events that we have in Victory Alabang this year and it finally happened on August 28! 4 couples exchanged vows in one of the most beautiful wedding ceremonies many of us had ever seen. Church staff and volunteers eagerly busied themselves weeks ahead in the preparation, making sure thateverything, from the flower arrangements, pre-nuptial photo shoots and wedding gowns were perfectly taken cared of.

The pastors came in full support for the couples, with Pastor Chico Pena officiating the ceremony, while the roster of photographers, make-up artists and musicians were made up of the members of the church who graciously contributed their time and talent to the success of the event. Relatives and friends held their breaths as every bride had her moment of walking down the aisle towards her groom. Those who witnessed the event raved about how blessed they were, even posting about it on their Facebook status! It was truly an exhilarating, unforgettable experience for all of us!

TRAINING FOR VICTORY TAKES OFF!

Training for Victory finally took off on the second week of August. Students are ecstatic as they relay to their small groups and their friends the new and exciting things that they have learned in just the first two weeks of classes! Classes have been divided into two. Those who have attended ENLI are put in a separate group, with discussions on theology and apologetics with no less than Pastor Jun Divierte as the teacher. To better accommodate the schedules of our volunteers, we have also added a Saturday class for those who may only be available to join on weekends. We are definitely looking at a new generation of harvesters and fishers of men who are raring to go out and share the gospel to the nations!

TRAINING FOR VICTORY BEGINS ON AUGUST 12

Training for Victory will have its first day of classes on August 12, 7pm for the Wednesday class and August 15, 9am for the Saturday class. We believe that every Christian is called to make an impact where he is, whether in the campuses or in the work area so that we can lead others to Christ. In Training for Victory, we will be trained on how to approach people and how to share the gospel to others. OPERATION OVERDRIVE OPENS DOORS TO SHARE THE GOSPEL

Last Saturday, August 1, members of Victory Alabang came together for Operation Overdrive, a prayer walk for Victory South Metro. We were divided into teams of 3-6 people. Each team was assigned a key area in Muntinlupa to pray for. Some went on foot while others went in cars. We started at around 9am and met back at the Victory Center at noon to share a lunch of pancit and Sapin-sapin.

The event opened doors to tell others about Jesus Christ. People approached some of our groups while they were praying and they took the opportunity to share the gospel to them. One man even said that an anonymous texter sent him a message that he was going to know God that day and true enough, one of our members was able to share with him about salvation. We are looking forward to seeing these people join us for our Sunday Services and perhaps, have them join us when we finally start our services in Muntinlupa. God is truly amazing as He shows Himself a step ahead of us in the city.

Back-to-Back Celebration for Victory@25!

Tickets Sold Out on the First Day

The first day of registration for Victory@25 was overwhelming! Everyone was so passionate and excited to celebrate God’s faithfulness throughout the twenty-five years of our ministry.

We learned that last June 8, minutes before registration opened, people were already waiting outside SM malls. While others were making last minute arrangements with friends, many just couldn’t wait to call and reserve tickets even before the clock hit 9 AM. The moment SM malls opened, Victory members started to rush to the TicketNet outlets, alarming security guards who didn’t know what was going on.

Call center agents at TicketNet were bombarded by the succession of phone calls from Victory members. Lines got longer, the TicketNet hotline went busy, and the pursuit of the best seats became a nationwide race. By 1 PM, after only four hours since registration opened, over 8,000 seats were taken, covering the Patron section to Upper Box B. This left other registrants with only the General Admission tickets. The day ended with 10,000 people having tickets to the Araneta Coliseum for July 24.

We’ve never seen this happen before—10,000 tickets in one day with the best seats taken in the first four hours! TicketNet likened the excitement to the La Salle – Ateneo UAAP finals on a nationwide range.

One Evening is Not Enough!
Because we want all of you to be a part of this celebration, we’re opening an afternoon celebration for everyone. It will be held on the same day at 3 PM, with gates to be opened at 1 PM.

Registration for the afternoon celebration will start on June 15, Monday, 10 AM. You can still register through all TicketNet outlets or reserve seats through (02) 911 5555. Online reservation will no longer be available.

VICTORY ALABANG ANNOUNCES DISCIPLESHIP CARD AND MORE AT LEADERS MEETING

Last Friday, June 26, we gathered the current small group workers to talk about the events in the upcoming weeks. Plans to establish a church in Muntinlupa are shaping up, beginning with a prayer walk set on August 1 at 9 o’clock in the morning. We’re encouraging not just our leaders but everybody to join us as we march into the city in prayer and petition.

Training for Victory will begin this week with our Wednesday 7pm and Saturday 9am class schedules. Victory has done away with the 2 year long ENLI and has replaced it with a 3-month training on practical ways to win the lost for Christ. To help our volunteers as we continue to win souls and lead small groups, Victory Alabang is launching the Discipleship Card, making the registration process easier for every meetings and classes. The cards also come with discounts at Figaro’s, Seattle’s best, Informatics and other establishments! The meeting ended with everybody lining up to have their pictures taken for their IDs. The next meeting is still a couple of months away but we’ll see you at Victory @ 25 as we celebrate our 25 years at the Araneta Coliseum!
