Bearclaw Slopestyle Starts Friday!

The Bearclaw Invitational Slopestyle, one of mountain biking's premiere events, begins one day early on Friday, August 22nd.

“We're starting the first runs for all riders tomorrow night,” explains rider and event founder Darren Berrecloth. “We have a perfect weather window for the next 24 hours to run the first round. If the good weather continues, we will run the second and third runs on Saturday as scheduled.”

The decision to run the Slopestyle Friday evening instead of the Free Slalom was made after close examination of Mount Washington's weather forecasting models. Dry conditions are expected to remain until Saturday evening.

This means all of the rider's will get their first runs Friday evening starting at 5:00pm. The second and possibly third runs will continue as scheduled on Saturday at noon. Following the Slopestyle, the Oakley High Air comp will take place beside the huge final drop on the slopestyle course.

Well its been a long two weeks and I am exhausted, I must say this slopestyle course is the best I've ever built! Built by myself, Jimmy (Bucketville) Deas, Kenny Smith, Chester the Malester Andrew Wild, Baxter Redfern, and Mike Malley. The whole crew has put numerous long hard hours to create this masterpiece of a slopestyle course. I changed the whole design from the year before, trying to incorporate all the key elements in which a slopestyle course should have and incorporating some of my own ideas as well. I made the course small tight and technical at the top, and progressively stepped up the gnar factor as the course winds down the slope ending with a 14 foot drop which still needs to have a lip placed on the top.

So as of now the slopestyle course is pretty much finished except for a few details, that i am leaving to the crew while i head up to Whistler for Crankworx. As it stands on Friday August the 22nd the Free Slalom will go down in the evening and the Slopestyle will happen on August 23rd at noon sharp. Riders will get 2 runs and thats it no Finals no Super FInals just 2 runs, all of the slopestyle riders are invites and are considered to be the best in the world so no qualifications needed. Once again fullfaces are mandatory and tight girl pants will be judged accordingly - 10 percent off style points on your course run.
