This show I pretty much parked in the front row right on the stage, which gave me ample opportunity to try out my new 14-24 lens. 90% of my shots are with that lens, about 5% the 24-70 and 5% the 70-200. D700 with a battery grip. f2.8 for the most part, 3200-6400 ISO, and between 1/160th to 1/500th shutter.

Enjoy life, the people around you, and remember to look around every once in a while. Today is a good day.

Many Photos from the Wedding (the Whole Enchilada)

Nikon D700 with 24-70 and 70-200 lenses. Rough split. A few in the studio to start and then on to old Sacramento for the train station and down by the river. Great place to shoot photographs, it has very nice backgrounds, ambiance, and the river is nice too.

24-70. 5 of them, mid to normal.

70-200. All of the close ups or longer shots. Probably my favorite all around for this venue.

And the Nikon D700. Still love that camera, even more with the battery grip and the faster frame rate.

Nikon D700 with a 24-70 and a 70-200, mostly the 70-200 though. I was very sad this week to have dropped my 24-70 and will be without it for at least two weeks. This is akin to missing a family member! Extra beer should be required to manage the grief. Preferably a Sierra Nevada Pale ale.

Below are some of my favorites from the night, although it was very hard to narrow it down. Enjoy.

Ride Fest at UTI in Sacramento.  Lot’s of cool cars and cool people. Tragically White rocked the joint. Shot mostly details and some HDR, but all of the photos can be found here.  There are a bunch of them, as is typical with event photography. My favorites are all above!

All shots are with the 24-70 or the 70-200 VR-II, a few in the bunch are HDR but most are straight out of the camera or minimal Lightroom processing. If any photog peeps have questions let er rip and I’ll answer back in the comments!

Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens at f2.0, 7:45 in the morning, into the light with nice bokeh. 1/4000th. Kinda nice to play with the nice bokeh, this looks better to me than the 105mm although I like the depth of field and overall look of that lens a bit more but this is both cheaper and easier to focus. Plus Brookie is kind of always great in the morning.

Many of these are slowish shutter speeds, as slow as 1/6th up to 1/50th. Slow shutter is great because you can feel the motion in the shots. It’s almost like the photos are in 3d instead of 2d. Light streaks, motion blurs, and cool things happen.
