Back from the Bahamas!

Hello there! I have returned from my Bahamas excursion! I stayed at the Atlantis resort on Paradise Island - it was fab. :] I was there for a graphic design job so it was mostly work, but there was a little time to play. The entire resort is feng shui which I thought was amazing, based on the sheer size of the place. It was also filled with beautiful patterns and elements that will inspire some of my upcoming invitation sets… I am always on the lookout for unique inspiration. I snapped a few shots of elements I loved - watch for inspired versions in some of my upcoming designs!

Switch Flops

So my mom came to visit about two weeks ago, and she brought me the coolest little flip flops. They are called SwitchFlops. They have a really comfy foam sole, and the straps have Velcro on the top of them, so you can switch out the color and style of the straps without buying a whole new shoe! When I got these the first thing I thought was “Why didn’t I think of this?!” It’s ingenious!

You can buy the extra tops online for about $10, but you can also make them yourself for substantially cheaper. Now get this - the straps are a standard ribbon AND Velcro width, so to make your own, buy some sticky Velcro, a pretty ribbon, and voilá! New look! All the sewing you have to do is the seam where the ribbons meet in the front, and if you’re really anti-needle-and-thread, you could probably use some glue ;]

And of course me being the ever-so-wedding-minded, the second thing I thought was wouldn’t they be great for bridesmaids reception shoes! It is all the rage now to purchase your bridesmaids flip flops that coordinate to their gowns for the reception, because not everyone has feet conditioned to dancing in stilettos all night! Aaaaand, you can use leftover fabric from their alterations for the tops, to REALLY make them match! Go check them out!

Hello!

This weekend I have been working feverishly on a few wedding invitation sets, of which I now have photographs up in my portfolio! I had a blast decorating the ‘Bouquet’ sets, and I even handmade the photo corners out of the pink cardstock scraps I had left over, to ensure that they matched the paper exactly. Want to take a look?
