Well it just so happened that at the time my photography journey began my sister was pregnant with twins. She had some adorable photos of her first child taken as a baby not long after his birth, but had travelled to Melbourne for those. The likelihood of doing that this time round, with twins (and her 2 yr old) were looking slim. So she asked – why don’t you do them? So I started some research and began to understand just how unique newborn photography was and just how important it was to know what you were doing to ensure the safety of the baby. As it happened I was able to take some a hands on workshop course and begin my newborn photography journey. Finally my little nephews arrived…..and well here they are……or were ……… all the way back in 2012!!

Are you a Mum that would like to know how to use your Digital SLR? Mmm hmm yes. Would you like to learn during the day with your own camera and be able to bring along your kids? Mmm hmm yes yes. I’d always loved taking photos and a point and shoot camera was always in my bag – but my digital SLR – well that stayed home because I never liked the photos it took – I knew that was a waste but it appeared my chance to change that had come along. Little did I know what that course was going to be the beginning of!!!!! Along I went and with a group of others Mums we were taught by 2 fabulous and sharing professional photographers. With my own camera in hand, I learnt how to use a camera in manual and a whole lot of others things. Week 5 was a styled shoot with our kids – so here I am sharing some of that shoot and a few of my favourite shots taken very shortly after. After that began my journey with workshops, courses, online reading and lots and lots of practice – plus lots of experience which I was fortunate to gain under the guidance of some professionals in the industry who willingly shared their knowledge – for this I am most thankful.
