A few months ago we were back in Nottingham filming and and photographing baby Sophia’s Greek Baptism Ceremony at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Virgin Eleousa. A Baptism Ceremony is a major event in the  life of any Greek family and are normally very busy events to film but on this occasion there were only a handful of close relatives, some of whom had travelled from Greece specially for Sophia’s Baptism Ceremony. When we arrived the family were setting out her shoes and lovely pink dress from Neonato and before long Sophia arrived and everything got underway. Firstly, the Greek Christening started with the priest signing the cross of christ over Sophia and saying prayers. Then the baptismal waters were blessed and the priest anointed Sophia oil and she was immersed 3 times before she was dressed!! She looked so cute!! Once dressed a large white candle was lit which symbolises the beginning of her Christian life and then walked  around the font before the baptism ceremony was completed. Baby Sophia smiled her way all the way through the whole ceremony and loved every single minute especially when she was being baptised in the font. As an events videographer I love the opportunity capture these special moments. A big thank you to the family for being so nice to us and especially for giving us some lovely cup cakes at the end of the ceremony which our own little girls finished off in a few seconds once we got home. It was nice to be back filming another wedding in Wales this time for Mark and Delyth. A while back Joy posted some of their Wedding photos on her blog (view Rowton Castle Wedding Photos) and today is my turn to share their Rowton Castle Wedding Video highlights. Delyth & Mark live and work in Zurich, Switzerland but decided to have their wedding back in Delyth’s home town in Wales. We met up with them both a few months earlier for their pre-wedding shoot and knew they were going to be a great couple to work with. The day started by following the satnav through stunning Welsh countryside and some long windy roads. The Satnav tried to take us into the odd field but we persevered and eventually arrived at Delyth’s mum and dads house for the bridal preparations. All was calm and after a brief visit we headed to St Mary’s Church in Llanfair Caereinion for the ceremony. I loved the look on Mark’s face as Delyth walked down the aisle towards him. The Male Voice Choir were amazing and once the ceremony finished we headed off to Rowton Castle in Shropshire for their wedding reception. Rowton Castles grounds are stunning and perfect for any wedding videographer.  The Jazz band played some fab music whilst guests played games on the lawn. I had a close call when I was filming a game of Jenga. The blocks nearly landed on my camera when it fell over, but it was worth it as I got a great shot!! The rest of the day seemed fly and after the speeches and the cutting of the cake Delyth and Mark had their first dance. The lights from the DJ were amazing and look stunning on their wedding video. A few thoughts from Jarnail

1)  Tell us about your Jago Ceremony
Traditionally the Jago ceremony is started by the mothers side of the famiy to signal the start of the wedding celebrations. They made a very loud entrance, dressed in colourful traditional outfits and set the tone for a great party. The edgbaston reservoir provided a lovely setting for the night and was topped off brilliantly by great live entertainment, good food and drink and a very merry crowd!

2) What did you like best about your Jago Ceremony?
I think the Jago night was the day I could really let go and enjoy myself. There were no ceremonies/rituals I had to worry about which meant I could concentrate on meeting and greeting my guests, alot of dancing and a enjoying a good few drinks!

A few thoughts from Jarnail

Q1) How would you describe yourself?
I would describe myself as a happy go lucky chappy, full of confidence who enjoys living life to the max. I enjoy going out with friends and socializing at pubs/bars restaurants. I am very proud of being a british sikh, and enjoy learning more about my religion and culture. I would say that I am most attached to my family. Very sporty person, enjoy playing football, cricket, tennis and a big manchester united fan.

Q2) What is a Maiyan Ceremony?
I would say that the maiyan ceremony is a cruel chance when the family get to cover me in smelly gooey paste!! But ive been told its a ceremony which prepares the birde and groom for the wedding day. I found the ceremony surprisingly relaxing. Everyone was joking about with me, singing along in the background and I got to have a little moment with everyone turn by turn as they took turns to get me!!

Q3) What was your favourite part of the day?
Think the favourite part was the actual vatna. I had all generations of my family cracking a joke and giggle with me, from grandma, mom and aunts, sisters and nieces and was nice to share a brief moment with all of them. This will be the memory that I will cherish most.

Q4) How did this prepare you for your wedding day?
I remember looking around, and seeing genuine happy faces on the guests which in turn bought a big smile on my face and remained for the rest of the day. I never looked back and tried to make the most of every moment there after. Everyone still comments on how much fun they had and more importantly I really enjoyed the day.

Sikh Punjabi Wedding Videos and Wedding Photography

A few weeks ago Lee & Amy travelled from Luton to Beacon Hill forest in Leicestershire to film their Save the Date Video. Lee & Amy are getting married next year at Downhall Country House Hotel in Hertfordshire and wanted a creative way to share their wedding date with friends and family. They loved a previous Save the date video I had done last year but wanted to make theirs slightly different. So they arrived ready with canvases, paint and lots of enthusiasm and we headed off to Beacon Hill to film their Save the Date Video. The weather was hit and miss to begin with but after a while the showers stopped and the sun came out – which gave us some nice soft light through the trees. Lee & Amy were great fun and me and Joy are really looking forward to capturing their chinese wedding next year. Anyway, here is their Save the Date Video and you can read a little more about Lee & Amy further down.

About Lee & Amy

1) How and where did you meet each other?
We met at University of Westminster, been friends since then.

2) When and where are you getting married?
We will be getting married on Sunday 6th May 2012 at The Down Hall Country House Hotel, Hertfordshire

3) What are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?
We have taken alot of time and thought on our wedding preparations and we are looking forward to sharing and enjoying our day with our family and friends. The wedding day will be a combination of both Western and Chinese traditions. We are hoping to have the look and trends of a contemporary Western style wedding but at the same time incorporating some tradional Chinese aspects.

4) Why did you have a Save the Date video?
The Save the date video is something quite new to the UK and after seeing one we felt it fitted in with us as a couple. Lee has a keen a interest in videography, so we felt this way of communicating to our friends a family suited us perfectly. It was also abit of fun for us, planning and filming the video. It would be great to be able to show our kids in the future (if any!) !
