Underworld Awakening is a 4th Underworld franchise film that was recently release right before Chinese New Year.

If you weren't following Underworld since the beginning, fret not, there is a short introduction right before the movie begin.

The movie evolved around an epic battle / revenge between the 2 species (Vampire and Lycan) that was once hidden from the sight of human being.

While the good old casts (main character) are maintained, there was yet another new character introduced in this installment. Trust me you wouldn't want to mess with this.

The CGI wasn't that impressive I must say and the ending was rather a disappointment. This is yet another case of "too powerful yet easily kill" ending.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

Happy Chinese New Year, Gong Xi Fa Chai to those who are celebrating it and Happy Holiday to those who are enjoying it :) Right before the CNY week, I watched Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and Underworld: Awakening but was too occupied to blog, but anyhow here it is now.

If "The Rock" (Dwayne Johnson) is not your cup of tea, then Vanessa Hudgens should at least attract you to the movie, but that's not the whole point.

Journey 2 by the title itself explained that it is an adventure, an adventure to a place where none had come across before, and true enough it is like what you've expected.

The story wise is yet another "yeah I've seen that", but is the visual effect (or cast perhaps?) worth you watching such story again?

While the Mysterious Island is a fresh new place to explore, it wasn't as good as the world we seen in Avatar IMHO. The stunt was there but the kick wasn't

The 3D effect was surprisingly good with people actually avoiding flying objects around me and such effect was thoroughly maintained through out the movie. Bet watching this in IMAX would definitely boost the WOW factor especially on a kid.

Well seriously, there is nothing too who-ha in such plot but the effects are what worth catching it. After all it is the festival / holiday season, why not bring along your family to enjoy a relaxing paceand family oriented movie.

Viral Factor

2nd gala premiere screening in GSC Pavilion of the week and there will be one more on Monday 16 January 2012. What's more is that Jay Chou and director Dante Lam is attending the red carpet of the movie Viral Factor

The movie starred 2 big cast, Nicholas Tse from Hong Kong and Jay Chou from Taiwan. With crazy fans of Jay around, I skip the red carpet and head straight to the movie.

What make this movie interesting (to Malaysian) apart from the non stop gunshot scene from trailer, is the fact that majority of the movie is filmed and shot here in Malaysia.

It is awesome to see scene that we are so used to on the big screen but I seriously think the director should hire someone with experience for the voices over the radar / walkie talkie. It sounded like how I read directly from the text book @.@

The plot wise was also another big turned down. I know I can't expect much from such movie but the plot got worse that not expecting much. Not only it was plain and feels yet another shooting movie, the character doesn't portrait a professionalism in the movie either. What suppose to be a world saving mission ended up to be personal mission.

Since Dante Lam is directing the movie, you're assured with cool weapons, awesome shooting match, great share of accident and explosion and other stuff that a guy would enjoy. Yes this is just another those kind of movie where the main attraction is the casts and the main let down is everything else.

AH BENG THE MOVIE: THREE WISHES (阿炳心想事成)

What a hectic Weekend, went to 2 Gala Premiere screening at Pavilion, a place where it is jam packed with sweaty shirt and 'sticky' arm, but still here I am attending the very first Chinese New Year (CNY) movie.

It begin back in the 1970s where villager is busy preparing to welcome CNY and there were these 'costume' God of Fortune (GoF) going around collecting angpow. Ah Beng's father who came from a poor family donated some small amount to the real GoF accidentally and was then granted 3 wishes.

To spice up, Ah Beng The Movie: Three Wishes is a made in Malaysia movie featuring tons of local celebrity that Malaysian is familiar with.

Let's be frank, the movie was filled with tons of advertisement from start to end. What make it so obvious is the way of shooting the product / scene. The director focus directly on the brand / logo and make it kinda obvious and actually spoiled the movie.

Beside that it is an overall an enjoyable movie. However I'm not sure if the superstitious group will label this movie as unsuitable because it does have scene like accident and dead and etc. No matter what, the movie is at a comfy and stable pace with not too much of twist and not too much of boring joke.

Lou Sang with OverTime

Was invited by Sirens Media to a food review session along with Lou Sang session and free flow of OverTime specially brew beer. Now that's really something that prepare me into this coming CNY

Located at Wisma Fiamma, I would say that this outlet is kinda difficult to locate if you are not familiar around Kepong, but on the bright side, it is actually just Opposite Kepong Tesco and you can get free parking if you know how.

Was greeted with Choy San (God of Prosperity) upon arriving at the entrance and was busy being cameraman for my friends while waiting for the food to serve. Stay out as drooling photos coming up!!

The menus were (according to my guess) Siew York, Seafood Spring Roll, Fried Fish, Sotong, and Friend Chicken. Now that's really a hell of a sinful night. But forget about it as it is CNY man. Come let's have some.

The chicken may taste ordinary, but once you dip it into the chilli sauce, you'll definitely gonna grab another piece.

The Sotong were awesomely nice. Cook to perfection, not too raw, and not over cook.

The Siew York was mouth watering and it went out within minute after we begin. The meat was tender and juicy, just like how you would prefer it to be.

This is also another of my favorite, the fried fish. Doesn't have the 'fishy' smell and every piece is just an opener to get another piece. Sadly it didn't come with any sauce to go along with. How nice if there is black pepper / sweet n sour / mayonnaise to boost up the 'want to have more' desire.

The seafood spring roll. It is like fortune cookie. There were some wrap with crab meat, with prawn and etc and you wouldn't know which one you are getting until you munch your very first bite. Best to have it while it is still hot. The one we had already cold because we were waiting for the rest of the gang to show up.

Of course you should never leave OverTime for its signature, the Starker. In conjunction with this CNY there is an ongoing promotion on this and 3 Barrels of 2L Starker now only cost you RM333 and it comes with free Yu Sang and Ang Pow packets.

Turning Point 2 - Laughing Gor之潛罪犯

It seems that 2012 is a good start for me with me going for vacation either in Bali or Phuket, and fully scheduled movie screening this far. Went to the premiere screening for Turning Point 2 in GSC Mid Valley on Wednesday night.

This instalment sees Laughing returning to his work undercover, but as a prisoner, where he soon befriends Fok Tin Yam (Francis Ng), a former college professor who has him thinking about the boundaries between good and evil. Matters take a turn for the worse when he encounters his old rival So Sing Pak (Bosco Wong) once again.

Honestly speaking I never watch any series of Laughing Gor in the first place. From drama to movie, I've totally miss them all, thus I get lost too in this instalment. When certain character make appearance on screen people would actually cheer and laugh but I just don't get a clue o.0

Regardless, Laughing (weird name/nick I know) wasn't really a spy (at least not 100% pure) this time round as everybody in or out the cell seem to recognise him without hassle. The only question is his intention being lockup.

Judging that this is a Hong Kong movie and typically from TVB, the plot and scene were rather predictable. It is not too long before you actually say I've guessed so! In movie like these, there are often a fair mixture between the white and the black, if you get what I mean. Turning Point 2 is not my cup of tea. Strictly for the fan IMHO.

Happy New Year my fellow readers, it is now 2012 and what's your thought about it? Some are nervous while some are particularly preparing for the worse. As for me I would rather watch as many movie as I would and enjoy myself to the max #likeaboss

Went for the movie Jack and Jill on Tuesday night at KLCC and boy what a luck, I had 2 movie clash on my very first movie screening in 2012.

Well there ain't much in the plot. Jack and Jill is just another seasonal movie where the movie evolved around a twin brother and sister both staring Adam Sandler himself.

Family man Jack had a perfect family and is living happily would every year have a headache during thankgiving when her sister Jill decided to visit him and his family to celebrate the festival.

Things started to get fun and yet annoying when Jill appear on screen. Nevertheless, Jack decided to help his pity lonely sister this time round by searching the right soulmate for her. They are joke that took you by surprise and there were those that were recycled from Adam himself or from daily lifestyle, but still it shall be able to trigger the smile in you.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Although I receive an earlier invitation to the movie Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol in GSC Mid Valley, but I gave it out to my Dad and waited for a much awesome option that comes with free pop corn and drinks. Thank to Magnum, BMW, and Esquire for hosting the same movie screening on the same night at Cathay.

If you are not aware of Mission Impossible, fret not, cause you don't know the previous plot knowledge to enjoy this. It is a movie with highly skilled spy equipped with awesome technology to aid their mission.

In this series however, the IMF is shut down by the government due to the bombing in Kremlin causing the team member to solve the case on their own with limited supplies and no support and to clear their names.

One of the best scene that I admire is where Ethan is climbing up the tallest building in Dubai. If again you aren't aware, there is a on going contest where you could win a RM10k trip. Details can be found here

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Despite merely recovering from high fever, sore throat, flu and etc, still manager to pull myself together for the premiere of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows in GSC Mid Valley

It begin with Sherlock Holmes investigating a seemingly a series of unrelated crime in Europe which he believes that it all boil down to the same root - Professor Moriarty who is as smart as he himself.

What amaze me is that Holmes this time had a somewhat new investigation approach with various new type of disguise which would make you laugh so hard. As for plot wise, it is recommended that you pay full attention shall you not wish to get lost somewhere in between the criminal connection.

With his mate (partner I mean) getting marry in this series, would Holmes ever be able to investigate and/or think straight given that he is still #foreveralone? Would things get out of hand with such given situation for Holmes the daredevil who isn't afraid of death but not being able to out-think the mastermind?

The Muppets

Pheww.. Had a very rush week and overall I've been dashing here and there for event, screening, and not forgetting friend :) Especially wanna thank my best buddy JJ, Chow, Joan, and Cherly for the specially warm treat during my trip to BlackBerry DevCon Asia 2011 in Singapore. But anyway, attended the screening on Monday for the movie The Muppets.

I guess the poster tell pretty much about the movie and if you're from the 90s and below, you are sure to recognise at least one faces here. Yes, these are the character that we used to watch and dance to during childhood.

The movie focuses on the muppets getting back together to save their once glory auditorium with the aid of a loyal fan alongside with help from 2 adults.

The movie gathered few famous muppets and group them into a team before fleeing with "yet another saving adventure" journey. Yes, The Muppets is kinda old school / fashion, I guess that is why toward the ending part of the movie, they introduced current star like Selena Gomez, Neil Patrick Harris and others to make things interesting.

Sadly that wasn't sufficient and I have doubt, wonder if even children these days would even enjoy watching The Muppets??

New Year's Eve

We are less than a month from reaching 2012, a year that some looking forward to while some is fearing that the world might end. No matter what, nothing beat the feeling of watching New Year's Eve few days in advance.

This is another series from the previous successful film known as Valentine's Day where it feature Hollywood's most esteemed cast. Let see who we have here on New Year's Eve... We have Halle Berry, Bon Jovi, Zac Efron, Ashton Kutcher, Josh Duhamel and plenty more..

It basically is a joyful and festival-ful movie on how several couples from different walk of life spend their New Year's Eve together/apart. How new friend were made and how loved one who leaves.

There ain't new plot / twist in the movie, but it still is a emotional movie to some. Emotional not because of the gorgeous cast, but rather the way how people spend their life with, the way how people say goodbye, and the way how people make magical happen.

If you're looking forward to end 2011 soon, this is definitely for you.. Get into the festival mode now at your nearest cinema!

Drooling already? Remember this is just the appetizer. Oh before I forget there are plenty of speciality when it come to choices for sauce. Most Malaysian can't / wouldn't dine without some awesome sauce and Umami got that cover, so you sauce lover need to fret not.

Just before I even have chance to go into the main dish, there were already more food served, this time it is from the BBQ area.

I personally loves the fried chicken, it is my munching "buddy" within the waiting period. I just can't stop om nom nom nom that piece by piece till I strip it down bone by bone. One of the best part here compare to other places is that Umami offer a wide variety of side dish and you will be amazed by what they have on the dish selection area.

Now ain't that mouth watering? No? Indeed these are just some 'typical' dish that every steamboat should have. But here come what really differentiate Umami from the rest..

Yes, from scallop to oyster to lamb to beef to crab and the list goes on are some of the few dish you will see in every table. Malaysian do loves seafood don't we? All these are freshly served where you can still feel the tender in every bite. Think that's the end of the dishes? Sorry to disappoint you, there's more..

The only regret I had having dinner here in Umami is that I don't have a huge tummy to fill everything in. I didn't get a chance to try out everything and let's not forget there is a salad station too.

I would say with given dishes, it is definite a catch to dine here as everyone would go home not just with a full stomach, but also a satisfy on the face. Umami did train their staff well in handling a full house customer, they tend to change a new plate for you once it is almost full with shell, they will come adding in more soup shall yours is drying up soon, and they handle you like they how they wish to be handled.

Puss in Boots

Had preview screening of Puss in Boots last night at 1 Utama and it all happen thank to ChurpChurp, your pioneer tweet reward site in Malaysia.

Puss in Boots if you still haven't figure out who this cat is, Puss is a character from another well known animation movie named Sherk. Probably the cat with pitiful big eye would help you recall?

As much as I would love to enjoy the show I was thrown with disappointment after disappointment. Puss in Boots is all about Puss obviously but I found that there were plenty of scene time wastage. It focuses way too much on the past and it was just another typical past which reveal what's gonna happen on the future.

So a big boo-hoo for that? Furthermore it wasn't that funny as I expected. There weren't many icon introduced in this movie and the 3 main Character would be Puss, Humpty, and Kitty Soft Paws.

In Puss in Boots, Puss's adventure weren't even close to great. It was pretty much cut off to make space for his childhood story instead. There were however twist toward the end of the movie but it was again a predictable twist. Probably not a recommended movie if you ask me unless of course you have kids who beg you creatively, only then you might wanna consider bringing them to this.

If I were Puss and Kitty Softpaws I would be the Asian version of it..

As a Chinese there is a saying "Use force against force" and I would eventually believe that because Chinese (or was it me) is born Kiasu and Kiasi T_T

I would use Kitty Softpaws "Now You See It Now You Don't" to obtain the weapon from the baddies and surprise them with a opening tag "You Never Saw Me Coming"

You Are The Apple Of My Eye

Had my second screening at MBO Subang Parade momentary ago and this time round I am watching You Are The Apple Of My Eye. During my visit I've experienced disturbance during the movie. I keep getting this "Hsst" sound on and off for quite some time.. Don't really know what cause the sound but it definitely not coming from the speaker.

This movie is adapted from a novel written by Giddens Ko and the movie is aid audience re-live their forgotten sweet memory.

Love during school time, who doesn't have it? Me.. Technically I'm #foreveralone back then.. But the movie do have few scene that would make the audience to flash back to the good old day (or the other way round).

If you are born before the 90s I'm definitely sure you get to see a reflection of yourself on the big screen.. With a perfect mixture of comedy and romance, it all blend well to keep the audience awake and hope for more.. I however find that the humour part was rather so-so.. Perhaps I have set higher expectation since many praised the movie.

**Off topic: I saw someone who resemble a friend of mine and a guy that resemble Edison Chen**
Overall it was probably the best Chinese love story that I've come across in 2011..

My Happiest Moment

The reason my blog is named after Beautiful Mistake is because it all begin with the wrong intention. I was and still is a contest junkie and I took every entry/challenge of mine seriously. The reason I started blogging is also because it was a mechanism of the contest back then.

Different contest may have different requirement and rules and regulation that we participant have to obey. This is where the interesting part. I will have to throw such question and task to myself and thus keeping me thinking and executing all the time.

Of course after all the effort I invested in, I would be ~~crazily~~ superb happier if I won. But in reality everyone again have different taste and judgement point, thus winning ALL the contest is a dream.

Of course people (or rather the judge) would then question why should we event consider this guy a shot? Well, if you notice those "winning" photo they don't come from my camera. I hate bragging! These photo where I was tag is what you see, but what you really don't see is that those that I put in 10000000000% effort and end up getting nuts.

It is not all about winning when I decided to be a junkie, it is the process that make it fun and memorable. I in fact have more of "process" photo than winning photo. Call me weird but that's what I enjoyed.

It would be even memorable if we both are involved in every stage of the contest because we have already won ourself a lifetime journey and memory that others couldn't afford to reward.

I take it as a motivation to keep my brain alive and to keep me coming back for more :D There were however plenty of creative people out there that shares the same interest and I'm pretty sure that they would have also enjoy the process of joining any challenge.

My Happiest Moment is definitely the artwork that I've created and I'm proud with each and every single of it.

All thank to the photography technology, I can now create a contest and with a little aid I could capture the memory along.

In Time

Am pretty sad that lately all my premiere screening clash with one another and that I only manage to catch up upon release date. Good thing I still get my premiere passes to pile up my ~~rubbish~~ collection..

In Time starring Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried is a movie where many would consider fresh. It happen in the futuristic world where the population had grown out of control and people have to die young. This created a whole new transformation where time is not the currency where the rich lives forever and the poor die young..

This ain't new to me as I've seen the MV few years back from Nickelback - Savin' Me and heck before this there's more of such concept.. But let's get back to the movie..

The movie begin with an attractive pace, where people rushing against time and how time is appreciated in their world and how people thank God for another day of living.. The pace slowly slop down hill with more talks and plan, a plan that failed.

Since then everything revolve on a runaway and trying to save everyone living.. I find it kinda annoying when the time transfer thingy repeat like every 5 minute.. Seriously I think this is overdone, you don't see rich people transferring money here and there every now and then in millionaire movie don't you?

he Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn

Tintin was one of my childhood comic that I remember I received as a gift but never really read through it on the yellowish crisp paper with a cardboard like cover. Did the movie version revive my childhood memory then? Not really, but was it worthwhile?

The Adventures of TinTin is directed by Steven Spielberg and is about a young journalist sailing across the map to explore the secret that everyone is going after.

The first impression that I get after watching the trailer was nothing but impress. I was impressed with the details of the texture and the gorgeous animated scene. However when I watch the movie in 3D, I don't really feel 3D at all.

The plot was rather classic but the adventure TinTin gone through was fun to watch, in fact it was event better without the 3D that gives the pain to the ear and disappointment to the heart.

To sum things up, this ain't the best animated film of the year 2011 on an overall ratio. No doubt it have stunning CGI, it was still lacking of few elements like the pace that keep audience drooling for more and etc..

Tower Heist

It was one of the "rushest" night that I was invited to a very classy yet exclusive launch party at Avenue K and yet at the same time to the movie premiere of Tower Heist at Mid Valley. Not to forget the time and effort I put in fighting with after office hour jam.. T____T

The movie starring Ben Stiller, one who I couldn't stop my laughter by just looking at his seriously funny face/appearance, and Eddie Murphy, one who will make me go buahahaha when he open his mouth.

The movie is about a gang lead by Josh Kovacs (played by Ben Stiller) tried to ~~rob~~ revenge on a multi billion man who conned all he and his employee's hard earned cash in a so called investment which is actually a ponzi scam.

While you don't get to see the western version of Stephen Chow of Ben Stiller in Tower Heist, you do still however get tickle a little here and there, not too hard, just a mile laugh that's all. It was such a potential wastage as there were plenty of room for plenty of crazy stuff you could do given such collaborate.

Not entirely worthless nor entirely worthwhile the spending. However do support if you've run out of show to choose from during this long weekend.
