The manor-house was later bought by baron Henrik Lindelóf, who re-built and enlarged it in the neo-classicistic style at the end of the century. The manor-house then obtained appearance of a two floor, three wing building of a rectangular ground plan with a central bay, roofed with a cupole at the garden front. A balcony based on iron construction was built around the bay and there is a direct entrance from the park to the oval sala terrena.
http://www.tartuf.sk/

Bratislava restaurant with Google Maps

They identify the route that was passed by coronation procession. You may also walk the way walked on by kings. The route starts at the Gothic St. Martin Dome witnessing coronations of 11 Hungarian kings and 8 royal spouses in the course of 3 centuries. When walking inside the church, you will find an incomplete list of crowned sovereigns on the wall of the presbyter. Charm of ancient past will be recalled to you by one of the oldest small lane of the city – Kapitulska street, from where you can also see remarkable tower of the Church of the order of St. Claire. Along the streets Prepostska, Venturska and Sedlarska, you will get as far as to the Hlavne namestie (Main square), which used to be and still has been thick of things in the city. In the past, markets were taking place in it, ordinances of the town were announced from the tower of the Old town hall, but there were also executed capital punishments here. Major representatives of the town greeted the king in front of the Old town hall, who was then going on across the Franciscan square (Frantiskanske namestie) to the Franciscan church, where he dubbed knights of Golden spur. In addition to the little crowns in the Franciscan square, you will also find in pavement small works of arts that are results of the project Pavement as a symbol of crossroads. Through the Biela ulica (White street), where you can find a rare Renaissance wall painting on the facade of the house U cierneho havrana (At black raven), depicting St. Christopher, St. Florian and diggers in vineyards, you will get to Mlichalska street. The Michaels gate has been at its end since the 14th century, which had been integral part of city walls. It is the only preserved medieval gate whose tower is 51 metres high and a copper statue of St. Michael was placed on its tip upon its baroque reconstruction. Under the gate, you will find the so-called zero kilometre, where distances of Bratislava from other towns are identified. Next to the gate, there is the narrowest house of the city with its width of only 1.6 m. King used to ride horseback this way beyond the gates of the town, that is why you cannot find little crowns in the pavement in front of the Michaels gate any more.

Bratislava Photo

Bratislava Castle at night

The castle, a monumental construction, is Central Europe's largest ruin. It became the seat of the Spiš region and was the property of the queen Elizabeth Kumánska, mother of Ladislav IV. In 1312, the castle was besieged by Matúš Cák Tranciansky, but the castle remained unconquered. In 1443, Ján Jiskra, from Brandýs, gained the castle. In this castle the last Hungarian king before the Habsburgs, Ján Zápolský, was born. He was the last representative of his lineage in the 17th century as he lost the fight for the Hungarian throne. Since 1636, the Csáky family owned the castle until 1945. However it was inhabited only until the end of 17th century, when the Csáky family relocated to more modern manor houses. Spišský Castle, the most extensive castle ruins in Central Europe, entered into the list of the world's cultural heritage UNESCO nine years ago. On Saturday, May 1, 2004 its gates open for the summer tourist season.

Spis Castle

Dobsinska Ice Cave

It was formed in the Middle Triassic limestones by the former ponor stream of Hnilec river. The cave length is 1,483 m. Ice filling occurs in the form of ground ice, ice „waterfalls", ice stalagmites and columns. The total volume of ice is 110,100 cubic meters with maximum thickness of 26.5 m. It ranks among the most important ice caves in the world, thanks to its character of glaciation. This is, in the European scope, even more pronounced by its location outside the Alpine region. The cave is one of the most important winter refuges of bats - Myotis mystacinus and Myotis brandti in Slovakia. The opening to the cave was known since the time immemorial. The cave was discovered in 1870, and open to the public as early as in 1871. Since 1887, it has been the first cave with electric illumination in that-time Hungary. Currently, 475 m of the cave are open to the public.
Visit Slovak Caves Administration

Demanovska Ice Cave

In the evenings you can seat at the lake and look at the sunset which is usually very romantic.

Visit Biela Farma homepage
