Happy Friday!

How was your Valentine’s day? Did you do something lovely for yourself? My husband arranged for our youngest to head to my parentals so we could spend the day together. My other five we already at school of course. I thought that was sweet of dear Hubby. Part of my Valentine’ day was going to the doctors! Yup. I went to my Doctor for my yearly physical (WAY late on taking care of MYSELF!) and then later that evening I went out for a run with my local run Running Room in Langley.  All in all, a wonderful day. I cannot believe that my husband and I have spent the past 16 together!

This particular Reveal Session, was done especially for her special Valentine, her hubby…Now that Valentine’s day has passed, the lovely Miss J has graciously allowed me to share some images from her session! Thank you! I love it when my clients are able to share! Thank you to dear Gaby, who styled her up. Gorgeous!

What I love most about my “job” (I have a difficult time calling what I do a job!) To me, photographing women, and making them feel beautiful through an empowering photographic experience is what I call my PASSION! As promised, a studio tour of my Langley boudoir and beauty portrait studio located in downtown Langley, BC Canada. Usually my sessions aka the “Cathy Empey Experience” take place on a Saturday or Sunday by appointment, but yesterday I had a special session with gorgeous, voluptuous client who shall remain anonymous.  She was absolutely gorgeous, and I loved watching her transformation. From before, to after. With all of this snow, and icy conditions we have been having in the Fraser Valley I was so glad to see that her session was A GO!

My studio is located in a Langley heritage building, has plaster walls, and aged, original hardwood flooring. High ceilings, a large window, with the most amazing natural light!  I believe this is the most beautiful space  I could photograph a woman in. My space allows you, my gorgeous clients, a place to shine! I have been looking for a space like this, for well over 3 years and finally, I found it!

I don’t know about you, but I have been doing a lot of dreaming lately. I don’t know if it is because it is a brand new year? You know, that whole FRESH start, thing. I am not sure. All I know is that I have been doing a lot of thinking, along with all of that dreaming! It feels good to work towards my dreams. I highly encourage this! Even if you do not want to do a vision board, write down all of your dreams. Keep adding to them. Please never stop dreaming!

Another fun way to a vision board would be with Pinterest. I am a big Pinterest fan! You can check out my boards. And believe me, I have MANY boards. As an artist, I love to see things, as I am a very visual person. Pinterest is the best thing for a visual person who likes to stay organized.

For over a year, I have been trying to create a large vision board. I had the large blank, white poster board. I had the glue. I had lots of clippings I had been saving in a box. On Saturday I decided that I am JUST GOING TO DO IT! So, I did. I invited my husband to made one as well. I am totally happy with it, and I have it sitting beside me in my office, so I can look at it often.

For those of you who do not believe in using a vision board, I have a little story to tell you. I had a bright green plastic folder of clippings from home and design magazines that I loved for our home/for the dream home…not a vision board, but a dream folder of ideas. I had it categorized by rooms, and spaces. (I love feeling organized!) I had it hidden away in a moving box. When we were moving back to Langley last June, I found my green plastic folder. In amongst those clippings, a particular art piece that I loved from a design magazine. You see, when we moved to our second to last house, (not this home, or the last…the previous home…yes we move a LOT) the owners of that home had a beautiful large art print hanging in the upstairs niche area in the upper hall. I mentioned to our realtor, and to my husband just how much I loved it, and how beautifully it fit in the house. So, I thought nothing more of it. Deep down I couldn’t picture anything else there…On move day, we received our keys, and we walked into our new home, and immediately I looked up and saw the beautiful art piece located upstairs. It was still there! Surely it was left behind…a mistake…but NO, our lovely realtor GIFTED this art piece to us (she bought it off the current owners, for us!)  It was a beautiful surprise! Anyways, to finish my story, when I looked inside that green folder as we were packing to move back to Langley…THE VERY SAME framed art print was one of the tear outs in my green folder!

My vision came to life. In living colour. That print is still with us, and and has followed us from house to house, and is now settled into our hallway. I love it even more, because of the story behind it.

It is hard to believe that 2011 is almost over! I hope everybody had a happy holiday season! I am going to take the next, and last few days of 2011 to reflect back on the past year. So many changes, and so much to be thankful for. I very am excited about for my life and boudoir photography business in 2012!

HELLO, gorgeous!

Happy Friday! Welcome December 2011! These weeks are flying by too quickly! How did December get here? Seriously?!! I have a lot to do to prepare for Christmas!

This Saturday I had an amazing boudoir session my brand new Langley Boudoir Studio! The day was fabulous! I will share some images soon, I promise. I wanted to do my Friday Five today! Things I am excited about, and thankful for this week:

1. The bright beautiful sunshine! It feels so good to see the sunlight streaming in through our windows!

2. Milestone weight loss week for me! This week I have officially lost 21.8 pounds! I have 43 pounds to go!

3. My grande decaf non fat no whip mochas from Starbucks. I know I talk about these a lot, but I LOVE them. I call them my “no fun mocha” but really they are awesome!

4. I am so thankful to have a warm house, healthy and happy kids and a wonderful husband.

5. Supportive friends! You all are my world.

Have a wonderful weekend, and enjoy the sunshine wherever you are! I am excited to find the “perfect” tree with my family tomorrow, hit up the local downtown Langley Christmas parade. After that, have some family over for coffee. The kids will be decorating a couple of gingerbread houses together, while the adults catch up in some merriment.

I hope everybody is doing well! I just wanted to share a couple of photos from my up-and-coming Langley Boudoir Studio! The after photos will be in the next week or two! A bit more paint, and move my stuff in, and we are good to go! Yay!

And my Friday Five!

* I am almost finished my 5 km clinic! I am so happy I have two more runs left to run in the clinic, and I have already started the brand new 10 km clinic! This is a huge step for me! I am still feeling great, and no pain! Yay!

* I have lost 17 pounds as of yesterday! I dropped one size in my jeans! I am choosing to be healthy, and to be true to myself.

* My Langley boudoir studio, I am just so excited about it!  And I am so thankful for the many enquiries, and bookings that are rolling in! Please remember I am booking into 2012! Thank you all of my lovelies! xoxo

* Starbucks, decaf, non fat, no whip mocha. These are especially yummy on cold nights after a run in the snow last night. (only 220 calories!)

* New music on my iPod! I finally changed my playlist for running (when I run on my own, I like to listen to music to keep me going, and motivated!)

I just have to say, I have so much to be thankful for in my life. I couldn’t do what I do without the support of my ever-loving husband, and my six wonderful kids who encourage me. They all cheer for me whether it be in life, or for my boudoir photography business. I know 2012 is going to my best year yet!

HELLO, gorgeous women of Langley, BC and the Fraser Valley of BC! Just wanted to update my lovelies on the progress of my Langley Boudoir Photography Studio! I am super behind in my blogging, and so today I decided to try something new. Please excuse my messy hair, and lack of planning! This was straight from my heart, to video! (That is my natural, wavy hair, I usually like to straighten my hair )
