My favorite designer right now is: Do I really have to pick just one? I always love Chloé, but I am in love with Miu Miu spring 2010 and Proenza Schouler pre-fall 2010. I also always enjoy APC, Built by Wendy, LOVER, and Dear Creatures.

People usually compliment my: haircut. Thanks to Shannon Dean at Revamp Salon in San Francisco!

My favorite makeup tip: Don’t overdo it. Beware of too much foundation.

Current beauty product obsession: Shu Uemura liquid eyeliner. It’s like a calligraphy brush; I can get the perfect line every time and the refillable pen is a plus!

But I also can’t live without: Benefit Benetint. It gives you the perfect rosy glow for cheeks and lips. I’ve been using it since I was 15.

My favorite scent right now is: vanilla. I’m a simple girl when it comes to fragrance. I only ever wear a single note.

I love wearing my hair: short and sweet, zero maintenance.

For my skin, I: use a good facial scrub a few times a week because I have oily skin and I’m prone to breakouts. Right now, I’m using Origins Modern Friction– It smells like lemon cookies!

People might be surprised to know: that despite my appearances, I’ve got quite a wild streak in me. I curse like a sailor and can probably drink you under the table!

My favorite hair product is: Bumble and Bumble Sumotech.

I don’t understand people who don’t like: Burritos!

The restaurant I can never get tired of is: House of Curries on College Ave in Berkeley. I literally go there once a week. It’s good, cheap food in a casual setting. I recommend the Bhaingan Bharta and the Veggie Korma.

Though I can make a mean: dessert. I’m a certified pastry chef and cake decorator. You name it and I can make it. I’m partial to éclairs myself.

What inspires me: I’m inspired by everything: blogs, street style sites, designer collections, old movies, art, photography, and people walking down the street. My current celebrity style crushes are Alexa Chung, Chloë Sevigny, and Michelle Williams.

FYI, I kinda got cheese all over my teeth in the first bite so I may have made a questionable face BUT the verdict: This is some good NY-style pizza. Fresh, crispy, with a good balance of sauce and cheese. I love their no-frills approach too — just plain cheese or pepperoni, at least at this location. It’s a tiny place, and you might not get a seat since it seems to always be crowded, but that’s what the park just across the street is good for. I’ll be going back for sure…

I love pastel nails! I paid a visit to Modern Nail Salon in Arlington, VA, and told my manicurist I wanted something light with a spring-ey feel. I finally decided on lavender but was not completely sure. I guess she felt the indecisiveness in my voice, so with a grin, she said she’d bring me a very pretty color from the back.

She emerged from her “secret room” with OPI’s Hey! Get in Lime.

I wondered why this color had been hidden in the back, maybe it was being saved for someone else? Oh well, as long as I’m able to get in lime. Not for the faint of heart, but I’m kinda loving the bright for spring or summer. Heck, I’d even wear it in Fall, I don’t discriminate.

Go ahead ladies, get in lime with me. What do you think of the green?

Poached eggs over a potato pancake

Still can’t get over the delicious brunch I had at Cafe Orlin in the East Village last weekend. I’ve been to Orlin for some yummy dinner but this was my first day time meal there. We had a mix of savory and sweet, starting with this Middle Eastern inspired dish below:

Malawach, $8

It’s called the Malawach, and they normally serve it sunny side up but Shahla had them serve it as an omelette stuffed with goat cheese and placed over a soft, doughey pita.

So we also kinda ordered salmon and eggs without the salmon — we got poached eggs instead over a potato pancake, and a side of deliciously rosemary-seasoned home fries.

For our sweet tooth, we went for the brioche french toast. It completed a fantastic meal.
